[REQ] [D801] Smaller Nav Bar for AOSP 4.4 - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As mentioned in the title, I'd like a smaller nav bar (half the original size is preferred) for 4.4 AOSP (I'm running PA) on the D801.
Thanks!

I wanted this too, but I've found at least temporary happiness with the ultimate dynamic nav bar app and it's auto hide ability. Just tap at the bottom for the bar. Free ver also keys you add menu key which I hated not having.

The Gravitybox module for Xposed Framework allows you to do this.

You guys don't like Immersive Mode?

It's nice, most apps don't support it (cough cough Asphalt) , and plus I just like a small nav bar.

No worries, it's definitely a feature packed module. Just be aware that certain things won't work with PA4 because it's not "pure" AOSP which GB is built for but still does a whole lot of handy things.

[Q] G2 on screen buttons

Hi I'm going to buy the g2 but i really don't like these nav buttons/on screen buttons. Is there a way to hide them while in apps for example they will still be there but i would be able to see trough them, fully invisible or something like swipe up. Thank you and sorry for my bad english
I'm on LG G2 D802 and as far as I know there is no possible way doing this unless rooting your device of course. Then you probobly could use the app "GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys".
How do you hide it with a rooted device?

Get the gmd auto hide app from the play store and install. It's a little wonky for me though. Sometimes it just stops working and I have to relaunch the program. Not a big deal, just a little annoying.
There's a mod/ROM you can flash with the smaller navbar, I haven't tried it yet.

after you successfully rooted your G2 and want to remove it entirely, you may try this:

Knock On works on the customer roms and Knock Off can be done by the following, use either Apex or Nova as your launcher and set the launcher up that a double tab executes the app from the link below and Knock Off will work from any where on the home screen.

im running cm 10.2 as of now.. my suggestion to you is to download screen off... the icon is a black and grayish power button... if you dont use the swipe up from the home button that much for google now, when downloaded you can replace the default so when swiping up from the home button it turns off your screen! its what im using right now and i like it because it works everywhere, even the lockscreen! , also you can do the same thing routing the same app to a double tap feature on apex/nova launcher if you like the knock itself, but as far as just turning off your device when its flat down, this is my solution hope it helped!
"Knock Off" can also be implemented by using GMD Gesture Control and defining a screen off gesture (e. g. swiping down with 3 or 4 fingers). Has the added advantage that it works everywhere, regardless whether you are in the launcher or in any app. Use that on my Tablet Z very successfully.

I do not think there is a "Knock" sound. It is what happens with the gesture of tapping on the screen twice.

I'm working on a G3 inspired UI right now, it will be more than a "simple" theme.
Here's a screenshot of how it looks now.
I have a few things to fix here and there, plus I need to remake the Quick Settings icons / app icons.
The notification panel isn't the only thing I want to tweak, I have some more ideas, I just don't have enough free time.
If you want, I can share it with you guys when it's done.

This is my first LG phone and i am LOVING it... Are you not thinking LG will roll out the UI to the G2? I have been a long time HTC (and a couple samsung devices here and there) guy.. had no issues getting updates from either of them... LG i am not familiar with their update practices.

Uhmm maybe yes they will, considering the LG g2 is very capable and it has been the key phone for their sales of these years, so I maybe they will surely update it just like HTC did with older devices for sense 6.

I have some bad news.
I finished the mod last night, but I can't really share it as of now. Let me explain. It's basically a modified LGSystemUI.apk, which is most likely different in each ROM, maybe even different variants have different LGSystemUI.apk - if we are talking about stock ROMs - and they aren't really compatible with each other.
I'll try to make flashable zips for Cloudy ROMs, as they are the most popular (and the best) stock based ROMs imo.
Unfortunately, it won't be as simple as copying my modded .png and .xml files, because I couldn't even recompile the apk when I tried doing it. But I'll try to make it work on these 3 ROMs as soon as possible.
Maybe I'll also make a tutorial, so you will be able to cook your very own LGSystemUI.apk yourself.
Can you make the volume slider in the notification bar a Bit "flater" like the toggles?
Thank you for your work on this.

But it doesn't do anything on this port.
You have to have the underlying APK for that functionality as well.
Further, this isn't really a G3 UI, as much as it is a G3 Launcher and icon pack. The holy grail will be the "porting" over of the G3 APKs to the G2, which should be pretty stinking easy given that they both run 4.4.2. Hell why doesn't LG just release the apps over their app updates? They actually just might do this.
I pray for the G3 interface every damn day. When the G3 comes out, I have the tools to port it myself if it comes to that.
Cheers
