Saving/restoring themes and apps - Nexus 5 Themes and Apps

Loving playing around with custom ROMs again since the HD2 days.
I really want to set up my phone in terms of apps, themes and icons etc, but hate having to redo it everytime I want to switch/update a ROM. Any suggestions on an app or process I can use to save my themes ect.
I use play store to retore my apps.. but is there a way to edit them so I don't download the ones I don't want anymore?

What themes? What type? Detailed info helps getting answers

This could be really silly question

Sorry noob here,
I've searched but have been unble to find a list that discribes the different Roms and what Apps they have.
I'm looking for a ROM with the Google services, smart dialler and market but save installing all of them to see what apps they have.
Cheers
From my understanding, the different ROMs are tweaks made to the operating system (android). The applications all work and are the same. It doesn't matter which ROM you have (or if you have the official Android distribution)
For example, i installed Cyanogen ROM because it has better search functionality (you can live search on the phone memory through the google search widget), voice search functionality, and is supposed to run smoother.

In general alot of the roms will have the essential apps ie: Gmail, Market, Youtube, IM, Maps etc. Some roms may have more than the essentials as far as my understanding goes you need these to use the phone. Any other apps can be downloaded & installed. As for right now i highly recommend Cyanogens Mod personally.

[Q] [noob] Wheee I rooted! Now what!?

A proud Android noob has just rooted the Tab! Now what???
Stuff I can do? Apps to install?
My main goal is to be able to install apps that I can't get through Market (my country is allowed to see only free apps, can't get the payed ones). Any tips and advices are much appreciated!
Now you should read, read threads. On everything.
"post your home screens" <--- good place to find apps and widgets
"themes, etc" <--- good place to find GUI's you like using and different launchers
"Android Dev" <--- good place for ROMs and such (also, instructions on how to flash them). BAD PLACE FOR QUESTIONS LIKE THIS
"General Chat" <--- the home for random discussions like this.
Also, different phones forums will reveal different answers to you.
Also Also, WTF did you ask this question? This isn't your first pony ride by the looks of your user information.

Yeah, I just figured someone would share some tips, that's all... It's not my first venture into tinkering with mobile devices, ofc, but it is my first with Android. I've gone through Windows Mobile and iPhone, so this is all new to me
It might not work, but try Googling 'Market Enabler' or search the Android market. If it works, itll enable paid apps on your Tab

Just because you can't see the apps doesn't give you the right to not have to pay for them, I hope that's not the intention.
The most useful root-required app is Titanium Backup. You could also probably try MarketEnabler to trick it into thinking you're in a country that _does_ have access to paid apps.
Apps to install immediately:
Titanium Backup (just what it says, also allows you to remove bloatware)
AdFree (will remove all in-app adds by blocking connections to a blacklist just like adblock in your browser)
Root Explorer (or something like it in order to fiddle with system files without using adb - eg, edit build.prop to permanently change lcd density)
CacheMate (or something like it to get rid of old cache)
DroidWall (if youre in tinsel hat or limited 3g mode)

Listables

Just thought I'd let you guys know that Listables works great on Xoom. I figure that most people have probably manually installed a lot of the apps on their phones using apks and since we can't nandroid yet, this would be a good way to keep a list of all the apps you currently have on your device. Just check off your apps in the list, email/dropbox/bluetooth as html file(w/ QR codes, links to market, etc.),xml, or plain text. It can do a few more things as well. Anyway, check it out!

Edit: Hmm...maybe this should have been put in the Themes and Apps subforum. Sorry about that!!

[Q] Newbie question

Hello everyone I have few simple questions since I'm new to the scene.
1- is there a thread on this forum that includes which apps I should stay away from because they include Trojans, mail-ware...etc
2- for those who tried AVG anti-virus, is it a good one, or is there any better anti-virus that I can use?
3- is there a link to a thread that guides a new user like me on this forum, because I'm kind of lost and don't know where to begin to know about stuff like apps, rooting ...etc.
I used to be an Admin on an iPhone forum, but now I got an Android device so I have to know how things are done on this forum.
4- if there is no threads that include a guide for newbies, what are the threads on this forum that will help me to know all about rooting better than keep posting threads asking how it could be done, even though I've searched, it seemed in vain (maybe I didn't use the right keywords in my search )
5- Is Go Launcher safe? I mean installing any of it's widgets, themes ...etc would not be a chance of getting my device infected (it's all messed up because of what I read about apps that are infected in the Market :S )
Would appreciate any help provided
well ,
welcome to android ...im sure ull enjoy it more..
the thread which u would like is -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133650
I havent come across any malware or virus yet and google android market is totally safe...dont use any anti-virus app, itll jus slow down ur phone.
go launcher is totally safe....as is ADW, launcher pro, zeam, etc.
hope this helped
Thanks for the reply bro
it's gonna be like I first entered the Jailbreak scene, after that all will be ok (I hope so)
As for the thread it seems to include lots of great stuff, will read it now
And for Anti-Virus software, till now it didn't slow my Arc S (I hope it doesn't in the near future).
I don't know about ADW, but I like what Go Launcher gave me, I will be sticking around with that app, especially after knowing everything is safe (which I still don't know why I felt it's vise versa )

[7/2][Trailblazer101] Definitive List Of Mods + Faithful Beta Testers

Dear everyone,
I'll be putting here a list of everything that I've done, but first let's get to what I really care about!
I have a few things in the works, I just need people to test. I am going to create a definitive list of about 10~ people who will be willing to let me flash whatever I make and want to their phone I know I've asked people before, but this time it's as official as I can make it, compiling emails and creating either a Google+ Community or Hangouts Chat.
Some things I will need help testing:
Cocktail AutoOn Features/Suggestions. I uploaded it on the Play Store, in alpha testing, and will need help before I release it.
Automatic Patching for Cocktail AutoOn (specifically people who are deodexed [Or know how to deodex-- all that needs to be is services.jar], running a build I haven't already supported...)
ClockUnlock -- Double Tap the Edge Clock to Open Clock App, Long Hold to Turn On Screen. Made this because I was worried about using my power button too much xD
Hangouts Group Support for PeopleStripe
Things Involving EdgeLighting. Whether it be having it display a random color (or a set one, depending on what you want) instead of white for calls.
Your Suggestions. I am a very busy person, but I'll come around to it sooner for the group than usual Remember: I do original work, supported for all S6 Edge's. And Enjoy personally adding/extending features that make our phone different from the others
I definatelyvcsn give it a go. On the tmo s6 edge of8 leak
Me 2 Trailblazer. Im willing to test it myself ...
Thanks for the support so far guys, send me a PM if you haven't already with your email and i'll make a list
But I need everyone's help! Anyone who has my Cocktail AutoOn app running successfully, send me your Build Number (Along with a description of the phone, please Like Verizon Edition, whatever rom your running, etc)! You can find that within Settings-> About Phone. This should be the same as, and you could also find it at, system/build.prop -> ro.build.display.id. I have added support within the app of automatically downloading/installing the mod for supported devices (this is different than auto patching, which should work on any deodexed build, even ones I haven't supported yet). I have a database online I can update with this information, and thus don't have to release individual packages for everyone! In the meantime you can find the Google Play version by doing this:
Join Google Community
Follow Instructions here: Google Play Link Instructions
This look great but I am very new to S6 Edge (but I am a veteran flashaholic user).
I will join soon. :good::good::good:
I'm down to test anything for Verizon s6 edge
