Dear everyone,
I'll be putting here a list of everything that I've done, but first let's get to what I really care about!
I have a few things in the works, I just need people to test. I am going to create a definitive list of about 10~ people who will be willing to let me flash whatever I make and want to their phone I know I've asked people before, but this time it's as official as I can make it, compiling emails and creating either a Google+ Community or Hangouts Chat.
Some things I will need help testing:
Cocktail AutoOn Features/Suggestions. I uploaded it on the Play Store, in alpha testing, and will need help before I release it.
Automatic Patching for Cocktail AutoOn (specifically people who are deodexed [Or know how to deodex-- all that needs to be is services.jar], running a build I haven't already supported...)
ClockUnlock -- Double Tap the Edge Clock to Open Clock App, Long Hold to Turn On Screen. Made this because I was worried about using my power button too much xD
Hangouts Group Support for PeopleStripe
Things Involving EdgeLighting. Whether it be having it display a random color (or a set one, depending on what you want) instead of white for calls.
Your Suggestions. I am a very busy person, but I'll come around to it sooner for the group than usual Remember: I do original work, supported for all S6 Edge's. And Enjoy personally adding/extending features that make our phone different from the others
I definatelyvcsn give it a go. On the tmo s6 edge of8 leak
Me 2 Trailblazer. Im willing to test it myself ...
Thanks for the support so far guys, send me a PM if you haven't already with your email and i'll make a list
But I need everyone's help! Anyone who has my Cocktail AutoOn app running successfully, send me your Build Number (Along with a description of the phone, please Like Verizon Edition, whatever rom your running, etc)! You can find that within Settings-> About Phone. This should be the same as, and you could also find it at, system/build.prop -> ro.build.display.id. I have added support within the app of automatically downloading/installing the mod for supported devices (this is different than auto patching, which should work on any deodexed build, even ones I haven't supported yet). I have a database online I can update with this information, and thus don't have to release individual packages for everyone! In the meantime you can find the Google Play version by doing this:
Join Google Community
Follow Instructions here: Google Play Link Instructions
This look great but I am very new to S6 Edge (but I am a veteran flashaholic user).
I will join soon. :good::good::good:
I'm down to test anything for Verizon s6 edge

If this isn't in the right place, please move it mods.
Basically I think that the market is a bit incomplete.
There are changes I'd like to be made and i've voiced my concerns with google.
Now I need the community backing to actually see these things implemented.

I try and address problems with the market and even underlying Android issues that have yet to be resolved.
Add your input and they'll have to listen.
Good idea... You might also add to the list a way to delete apps from download that won't be used anymore. I have three in my download that I will never install again and can't get them off the list. Imagine a few of those in there and it starts to take up alot of space with apps you aren't interested in anymore.
I posted a reply there as it seems to have gotten some attention there. Some of the issues are already in feature request on android issues, I linked to them. Starring the issues increases chances someone will take care of it.
Suggestion added Jeffro.
Thanks for posting Areinu!
If I could make suggestions for Android Market:
(1) Fix all this missing protected apps for new device / firmware quickly
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=665742
This is silly issue and will only hurt Android platform. This will greatly discourage Android developers for making good apps.
I want to support Android, I want to make it success! I can do this by spending money on Android apps, but I simply cant because of this issue.
And I am afraid this will repeat once new firmware released.
Take a look how long this issue is ... ridiculous
(2) Remove restrictions on countries for purchasing apps
Right now, certain countries like Sweden for example cannot even see the apps!
(3) Add ability to FILTER apps TITLE
I want to "hide" all those WALLPAPERS, SEXY whatnot.
Android is nice, really nice platform. But this Android Market issues are blocking its success.
here in Denmark we can't even see non-free apps in the ma market. because of this, users of ex. iPhone won't even try the platform. its sad really.

Filtering is very much needed. I tend to view the 'just in' apps, but lately its just a list of MMCANDROIDs latest releases of boarderline under age Asian girls. Its really annoying that you cant block out the stuff you have no interest in.
I'm adding them as they come.
Post a comment on the page to make sure Google eventually sees it.
I'm currently making an app that installs some stuff to make emoticons work on anything on the Android system, with a free part of the app that installs the font from the guys at No More Boxes, which allows you to see almost all of them, and then a second part, activated by either one in app purchase of either "emoji_keyboard" which installs a custom emoji keyboard, or "more_emoji" which installs a second font as well as the one that displays almost all of them, to see all but a few ones that you can see on iOS and some that iOS users can't see
Right, that's the background done
The idea is to use In app Purchases. However, using multiple guides, I have not been able to get them to work. I tried the Blundell guide, but I was left with it working but no way to respond do a successful purchase and don't know how to get it to query purchases manually
I also tried the official way, from both the Android developers site and the blog branched off there, but was left with force closes when the activity started as it couldn't set up the service correctly - the instructions aren't the most clear either
Finally, I found the AndroidBillingLibrary, but that's for API version 2, which is now depreciated.
So I ask, what methods have people on here used?
Thanks

Click to collapse
Thanks, might include that as a secondary option where the Play Store isn't available
Hey Quinny, you know where to find me if you need help. I've just modified the v3 example and it is pretty straight forward compared to v2.

Hello. I'm new to Android. I recently bought an S4 after 5.5 years with various iPhones. The ability to customize my phone is awesome, but daunting given all of the different apps and rooting knowledge that are required. Unfortunately, after having my phone for months, I've made little progress in learning how to do what I want to do with it because I work a ton of hours. Thus, I will pay someone to set up my phone the way I want. I live in Los Angeles, so I prefer someone who can do this in person. But I am happy to do this over Skype or the phone if possible. I have no idea how much to pay for this, so I'm open to bids.
I have an S4 on AT&T. It's not rooted. Let me know what other phone information you need. I would like the following from you:
(1) my phone rooted, and an explanation of which ROMs are available so I can pick the best one for me
(2) customized lockscreen setup, including the ability to run various apps/widgets with a numerical lock code, but not having to unlock my phone first (as I understand it, I need a customized ROM to do this because certain widgets run only without a lock code being used on the phone)
(3) customized home screens. Not just one though. I am envisioning a different theme for each page (maybe around 5 pages total). Thus, I want to be able to use a different picture on each home screen and potentially use different size icons and text on each home screen.
(4) some tasker automation (I already have a few ideas myself, but am open to suggestions from you to automate my phone)
I am not asking you to come up with the design ideas for my lockscreens and homescreens. I already have most of what I want in my head, and have downloaded the appropriate pictures. I'm going for a minimalist design. I just need someone to help me execute my ideas (which may include some photo editing), though if you have any design suggestions I would like to hear them.
Please send me a private message, including how much you'd charge for your help, and we'll go from there. Thank you very much.
Paul
Before you ask, what firmware are you running? The newest firmware blocked root access and is impossible to downgrade or root

You should look into SSLauncher. It's not what I use, but I played around with it for a few days. It is definitely the most customizable launcher on the Play Store.
This is not what a bounty is. You are looking to pay for work. This is not allowed on XDA and violated the free sharing spirit of XDA.
I am sorry for an inconvenience

Greetings fine folks of the S3 Mini forum!
I first broached this idea in the OmniROM 5.1.1 thread - I just got back from Cuba having met some folks out there who are pretty keen to get their hands on the latest Android goodness, but are completely unable to as:
there is essentially no residential internet in Cuba
there is no cellular internet
the WiFi you can find in tourist hotels/town telecoms offices cuts in and out preventing downloads of any size
Many Google services don't work due to the embargo
Currently apks are shared phone-to-phone using Zapya over Bluetooth and WiFi hotspotting. To give these guys something to play with, I am planning on sending an SD card over - an Android 'care package' - including:
Everything needed to flash custom ROMs (USB drivers, ODIN, minimal fastboot/adb)
A couple of custom ROMs (CM12.1 and OmniROM?)
Comprehensive flashing instructions (using Odin and not) for the S3 Mini (translated into Spanish ideally)
GApps (5.1.x) - 'Mini' if the phone can take it
Useful .apks/binaries e.g. Camera, Cardboard (I took one over, it was a big hit!), SuperSU...
Anything else useful to get them started playing with Lollipop
I'm currently working in a Google Doc collecting where these things can be downloaded and starting to find flashing instructions - which is where you guys come in. Although I found the S3 Mini to be relatively popular in Cuba, I don't own one so I can't test this stuff myself. If anyone would like to contribute to this project, I'd really appreciate it. It won't require too much work - but some sanity checking would be appreciated. You can find the Google Doc here. If you do make any changes, please use 'Suggesting' mode or coloured text
If you have any suggestions for things I should be including other than what's above and in the document, please add it or let me know. I'll update this thread once I've got some instructions done to be checked.
Thanks!
Regarding the flashing instructions, I don't know if this can help you, though it's in English.

Since the the guide mentioned above is mine, i would like to know if it is the final choice.
Why not set up a mesh network? If you could get enough devices running it, You could in concept make your own internet.
I'm not from Cuba, (live in south Florida) but I can probably help out.
So just got my hands on one of these. One thing I noticed/realized that would be a big deal for my intended usage is being able to enable multi-user functionality so each person that uses it can log in to their own profile.
So far on researching I have seen very little discussion on this matter. At best I see no option in the stock rom and no mentions in third party roms. If this is indeed available in third party roms I would not be averse to giving them a shot. I have also seen build.prop edits to enable that and they seem to be the same edit across devices so I'm assuming it is a standard android thing. I haven't had a chance yet to root my Player but is there a chance adding these build.prop options could also work on the stock rom?
Thoughts? Btw, I have already updated to Marshmallow however I did find a post around here that seems to indicate it is still relatively easy to root so once I get time today I am going to go down that route regardless.
I've seen a workaround that has you side-load gmail apk onto the nexus player, which in turn lets you add an account. Then, there are some apps that check for multiple accounts. Haven't tried yet, I think it might no longer work with YouTube like it used to.
Let's get this escalated to google - star this issue to get it some attention.

I would really like some info on this! cr08 if you are going to mention builprop edits please at least consider linking the info you refer to haha thanks!
