"Voice Notifications" and improving their sound - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I am using a rooted (stock) LG G2. I like the Voice Notifications (under Settings > Sound) feature, which reads aloud who is calling. It used to work perfectly, but just all of a sudden, the voice's pronunciation became all screwy. When Lisa is calling, is says "Liza." When Denise calls, it says "Denize." When Joe calls, it says "Joe-ie." When James calls, it says "Jame-es." And so on.
Is there a way to improve the voice when it is reading the callers' names?
I am on 4.2.2.

[Q] Google Voice Text Notifcation (how to turn off) [SOLVED]

Hi. I'm using superclean 2.4 voodoo and am using Google Voice for voicemail. I turned off the text notification option in its settings, but I still get text/transcripts every time I get a voicemail and it's extremely annoying for me. I just want a regular voicemail notification icon in the notification bar and that's it. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? Thanks in advance.
I believe I figured it out. Regardless of what the app settings are, it was turned on within Google Voice on the website for my account under Settings/Voicemail tab under "Voicemail Notifications" where it was checked on. I still believe the app is buggy since even when I delete voicemails via the app, say in the Spam folder or Trash folder, they don't go away - I have to login to the website to do that. So just a heads up for anyone who runs into any these problems.

[Q] Hangouts - voice-only calls

Not really relevant to the Mako specifically, but anyone know if voice-only calls on Google Hangouts default to the "ear speaker" when connected? On GTalk they would always default to speakerphone and I'd have to manually set it to "use handset earpiece." On Gingerbread phones there isn't even an option to set it to "use handset earpiece." I don't need the whole world to hear the other side of my convo if I'm placing a voice-only call.
BBM is smart enough to default to the "ear speaker" if you choose not to enable video in a call. I hope Google learned from that...

[Q] No Voicemail Notification - Sprint GS4 CM11

Problem: I do not receive any type of voicemail notification (no 9016 text, no voicemail icon in my notification bar, nothing).
About my phone: I have a Sprint Galaxy S4 (SPH-L720). I am running CM11. I can access my voicemail by holding the "1" in dialer (so I know the number is accurate in the settings). The "Message Wait" indicator option is checked in the voicemail setup. I did try Google Voice for a while (hated it, messed with my text messaging). I uninstalled it from my phone and disabled it via the google.com/voice site. I also cancelled call forwarding (*720) and conditional call forwarding (*38). When I call my voicemail or someone else calls my voicemail, it does go to the sprint voicemail system (I am confident I've severed the connection to Google Voice).
Fixes I've tried with no success: I've tried a few voicemail notification apps from the Play Store that are supposed to work with custom ROMs to "listen" for a voicemail. I've tried leaving myself a voicemail and deleting it. I've checked the Message Wait Indicator button in the settings. I've disabled call forwarding and conditional call forwarding as described above. I've made sure that I have no numbers Blacklisted. I've called Sprint and asked them to reset my voicemail on their end.
I've searched and searched. Most of what I find is 1) Use Google Voice (I tried and hated it); 2) people that have a persistent voicemail notification or 9016 text messages (I have nothing and want something), or 3) people that want Visual Voicemail to work (I don't care about visual voicemail, I just want a notification of some sort that says "Hey you have a voicemail". I don't always have great reception (Sprint is so terrible...but cheap), so I don't always know if I have a missed call.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Do you need more info? Thanks to all of you for your time and all you do on this site; it has helped me tremendously in the past. This is the first time I've been completely stumped after searching and had to post a question.

[Q] Hangouts incoming call notification problem

Hi guys,
I have a problem with Hangouts. I initiate a voice or video chat (NOT Google Voice) in Hangouts and on the other party's phone it rings alright. However if the other party initiates the voice or video chat they either receive the "call timed out" message, or I receive a missed call notification (message notifications come through perfectly). Has anyone experienced this? I'm on CM11 M12. Of course, I enabled notifications for text and video chats. Thanks!

voice notifications on the v20.

Anyone experienced enough with Android to be able to help me out?
The v20 (used to own a lg g5 that had these settings too) has menu settings to enable voice notifications for calls and texts. I cannot get them to work even when enabled.
not sure why.
I have, since the samsung galaxy nexus, been using an app called Enhanced SMS & Caller ID (eCID) inorder to have this function, however I would like to use the OS version. if the os can do it, why use an app?
The function is located in settings under the sound page at the bottom called Message/Call Voice Notifications
am I missing something?
I have call info and messages sender info enabled. Reading the content of the messages though is disabled.
