[Q] I need a little help fixing my i337 galaxy s4 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hello all,
so this morning i woke up to my phones alarm and the screen would not light up/come on. I tried rebooting the phone and the screen came on on the samsung custom screen (that is black with white txt and a picture of au unlocked lock), but my custom screen is now very white and i can barely make out the txt. then the screen cuts off and i hear it boot up properly. i unlock it with no screen on and can actually move a page to the left to hit my flashlight widget to turn on the LED flash for the camera. so the phone is still functioning properly (touches and sounds) but no screen visible exept for the custon boot screen and also ODIN mode (still very white but readable)
i am trying to flash the stock firmware to the phone to: 1. see if that fixes it. 2. get rid of custom screen to get my warranty
My computer and ODIN recognize the phone when its on normal but not when the phone is in ODIN mode....
i would like help with doing a wipe/factory reset using clockwork mod, but i will be blind.... and see if that frees up ODIN mode so my computer can recognize it
oh and im running a stock rom/rooted and i dont know the clockwork mod version number but the background in cwm is a penguin in a tux and hat i think
Questions:
1. What version of CWM do i have?
2. Steps to wipe/factory reset in cmw using volume up/down and sleep/accept hardware keys?
thanks abunch

maybe penguin is wearing jacket and beenie
maybe version is OUDHS Touch CWM-based Recovery 1.0.3.4
i have a Galaxy s3 with ClockworkMod v6.0.2.3
home options are
- reboot
- install zip from sdcard
- install from sideload
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache
- backup & restore
- mounts & storage
- advanced
is this the same options in same order as OUDHS Touch CWM-based Recovery 1.0.3.4???

ok so what ive tried steps wise to wipe data is open recovery on my i337 waiting several seconds to know it loaded then 2 clicks on volume down for - wipe data/factory reset then 7 clicks on volume down for - yes used google images to see screen shot of OUDHS Touch CWM-based Recovery 1.0.3.4 and my galaxy s3 cwm recovery to see how may ticks down yes was
ie:
- no
- no
- no
- no
- no
- no
- yes
- no
please any tips/comments/help would be awesome
thanks

any solutions for getting my computer recognize my phone while in ODIN mode?
connects when the phone is on normally (not recovery or odin mode)...
maybe i can flash something through recovery mode, but again im blind when using my phone cause the screen is not lighting up
someone can walk me through the steps in CWM or OUDHS CWM-based Recovery 1.0.3.4
PEASE HELP !

Help! Froze on Boot Screen!

Device was updated with Evil Eclair 1.9...update went fine...reboot, and stuck at the Acer screen with the little stalker robots.
I have Malez Recovery installed. Ive tried both the battery removal then button combo as well as the button combo that gives you the two vibrations blahblah. Neither get me past the boot screen.
Any help?
To assist anyone who might have a similar issue, I was able to fix it by accessing the phone via the Acer Tool, while it was stuck in the boot screen. I flashed it to the 2.1 stock again, and all is well.
Probably you didn't wipe off data before flashing Evil.
Go to super boot and go to recovery mode then wipe all data then reflash the ROM. . This should work.
Or simply you can use Acer tools and update the BIN file (stock ROM) of your choice. This should work too: )

Bricked vibrant after 2.2 update now not working at all

My vibrant will not work right at all at first it did now all it does when i turn it on after start up and it staying on the galaxy s screen for what seems forever. It then seems to load the home screen which is only showing a black screen and the top status bar and nothing else and keeps restarting it self and never shows the home screen at all and i pull the battery and it keeps doing the same thing over and over again. And after it does this i goes to a total black screen and the keys light up and then starts all over again. How can i fix this or is my phone now bricked thanks to the 2.2 update?
Power your phone off
Plug USB into PC
Hold down on the Volume Buttons (both of them)
Plug the usb into the phone
Then read up on this thread and ODIN back to stock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848737
Your just stuck in a boot loop .. if you cant get to download mode as described above ..pull everything out Sim, Battery, sdcard, Plug usb into pc, hold down volume keys, plug usb into phone, put battery in...should be in download mode, let go of volume keys
The thread title, Bricked vibrant after 2.2 update now not working at all, is misleading when referring to being stuck in a boot loop.
The above steps will get you out of your boot loop.
Same thing happened to me. I fixed it by wiping data in recovery mode and rebooting.
You shouldn't even need to odin for that, just reflash the last rom in cwm.

How is he gonna do that bootlooped & stock...nothing in his post abt having cwm recovery
Sent from Bionix V powered Vibrant
there is a chance if you installed clockwork rom recovery before ,m just (vol up vol down + power(let go after 5sec) it will take u in to recovery if u had it installed before no need to odin if so if u didnt have clockwork installed before its time to boot odin 1.7 and load thoise files u are without any choice if so , you could also just wipe cache parition and factory reset from stock recovery i doubt it will help u give it a shot before tearin this phone with odin

Stuck on LG logo

Hi, today for the first time I tried to flash a custom rom
at the ROM installation guide it said that I must have TWRP 2.7, so I installed that and wiped Dalvik cache, cache, system and data.
Did not touch internal storage.
I rebooted because I felt kinda lost at the baseband part. but now it's stuck on the LG logo, with the LED light working with rainbow colors (like the phone always does when I turn it on, but it has no OS now..)
I tried getting into recovery/download mode with no success, what can I do now?
How can I get back into recovery mode?
Hope someone can help :fingers-crossed: Thanks!

make sure your phone is powered off entirely and then
How To Reboot Recovery - LG G2
1.Turn your phone off.
2.Press volume down and power button until the LG logo comes on screen
3.Let go of both buttons
4.Hold the volume down and power buttons again until you see the "hard reset screen"
5.Press power once and then power again to confirm. The screen says it will reset your device but it will not as long as you have a custom recovery installed.
6.Your custom recovery should appear on screen.
If that doesn't work then you are going to have to go back to stock
I tried going back to stock but no success, the software is not recognizing the phone...
I also looked for videos on youtube, but couldn't find someone with simillar problem to mine.
Nevermind, figured it out.

If you don't mind. What did it for you? Once I install CWM or TWRP, I can boot to recovery by cannot get the system to boot - EVER - without getting stuck at the LG LOGO. The only way I can recover at that point is to use the LGFlashTool and start from scratch.
Thanks!

Note 3 stuck on recovery boot

Hi guys, I just recently attempted to root my Note 3 using CF-Auto-Root however after downloading and installing using my version (SM-N900T since I have tmo) it is stuck at a screen saying
RECOVERY BOOTING....
RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
SET WARRANTY BIT: RECOVERY
It seems that I cannot leave this boot screen to get into download mode and the device will not boot into android so I am at a loss of what to do. My computer does not see the device when I plug it in.

Remove battery, wait 10 seconds replace battery and
hold down the volume down+power+home key at the
same time. Then the phone will go into download mode.
I have 4 sprint Note 3's I rooted with CWM for all 4 but one is "stuck" at recovery like this any time I turn it on it always tries to boot into recovery and gets stuck.
I can get into download mode. will cf auto root fix this? (trying to avoid a full odin restore)
the only thing different about this sprint note 3 that I am aware of is that its flashed to boost (if that matters it should not matter)
the other 3 went flawlessly. yes I tried to odin the cwm root a second time no change.
Thanks!!!
Thanks for the link. Just unboxed the note 3 (sprint) with version 4.3 and followed qbking77 and it was stuck on that same screen (tried it 3 times).
Your link saved me. :good::good::good:
I wonder why qbking's didn't work ... it always has in the past.

Why didn't you use the specific file for your device (Note 3 Sprint): http://download.chainfire.eu/362/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hltespr-hltespr-smn900p.zip
thought I was...
Maybe I'm getting dumber, or maybe it's getting more confusing to root. Seems like there's a crap load of how to root this device pages and it takes a long time to figure out which one actually works. Then once I find it, I'm faced with dead links to the downloads.
I read on many posts and comments that everyone is able to boot in download mode. My Note 3 just stuck on recovery boot and I can't get it to boot in download mode. I tried all of the suggestions about pressing three buttons, removing battery etc.
Does anyone know solution for when you can't get into download mode?
Thanks
Do you have access to a USB jig?

i know this thread is old....but sometimes i have to access download mode, and then chose cancel in order for it to boot. usually from recovery when i tap reboot system, it brings me back to recovery. so i have to pull the battery and button combo to download mode then cancel. does this issue have any familiarity?
Someone please help I have a Samsung note edge that I just reset through the menu settings backup and reset option and phone turned off but did not fully come back on its just sitting on black Samsung Screen and on top left corner it says recovery booting set warranty bit : recovery in blue and yellow letters and I am able to got into the download screen but I press volume down just to cancel and reboot and stars coming on but gose back to same black Samung screen. Like i said I did not try rooting it or any such thing.
Wrong forum this is not EDGE model .
Download mode and flash stock rom through Odin is generic advice .
"Recovery Booting" Bootloop fix
A few months ago, my rooted Galaxy Note 3 (sm-n900t) was force closing and freezing my apps often. So I decided to boot into recovery to clear device cache. The 'recovery booting' would appear on the screen with the logo, but after 7 seconds it would reboot normally instead of opening recovery(I had version 3.2.3.0). So I did reboot recovery with Rom Toolbox and it began bootlooping with the message:
Recovery Booting....
Set Warranty Bit : recovery
It wouldn't boot normally, in recovery or download mode.
STEPS TO FIX:
1.) Let phone Bootloop until completely dead
2.) On PC downloaded (2.8.7.0) twrp file for device from twrp.me/devices
3.) Press and hold volume down + home + power until phone reboots into download mode.
4.) Plug device into PC USB where drivers are loaded.
5.) Start Odin or Samsung Tool z3x flashing tab
6.) Load twrp in AP or PDA section and flash
7.) Phone should reboot normally!

Can't boot.. stuck at logo screen

I have a I9505 (Galaxy S4) and after a week I rooted (with CFautoroot) my device rebooted alone and after that I could not get past the logo screen.
I could get to recovery screen but after I deleted the cache (only) I never could get back to recovery screen =/
I tried 3 different firmwares, recovery tools, etc and it didnt make a difference...
I can:
- enter download mode;
- use odin (install roms, pit, etc with no errors);
I cant:
- enter recovery mode (stuck at screen showing "recovery booting" blue text at top and logo).. neither can't go to twrp recovery.. it keeps stuck the same way
one observation is that if I turn off my phone, it actually reboots instead of shutting off. To shut off I need to pull off the battery.
And if I plug my phone on the charge, it shows the battery icon on screen but greyed out with a lightning inside.. not changing to the charging animation
I tried many installations: latest stock rom (jan/2017) downloaded directly from samsung servers (using samfirm, which by the way I completely recommend) with pit (and without it).... tried with CF autoroot.. tried with twrp.. but with no change... I can never get past logo screen =(
I think theres still something installed that could be affecting my phone, is that possible? The question is: when I install pit + rom, it removes everything?
I dont mind losing all my data, so if there's anything that I could do to restore my phone to 'original' state I would do it.
Try this:
open Odin 3.07 and uncheck everything except f reset time;
flash the phone without a pit file;
when you see the word "RESET" in the status window, remove USB cable from the phone, remove the battery, replace the battery, use buttons to boot into recovery;
wipe cache, wipe data, reboot.

Thank you for the response audit13
I did as you told with odin 3.07 (I was using 3.11) and recovery didn't open
Its stuck with recovery booting at top screen for ~5min now.. =/
Is the model # gt-i9505 in download mode?
I did everything ok with no errors (steps 1,2,3) and ONLY AFTER that, the recovery didn't open.
And it's stuck with 'recovery booting' text at top screen until now...
obs.: I think the way I explained it seemed I didn't went on download mode but I did =)
I have a similar issue like this. for my shve330l i updated to the latest update via ota. and then flash rr rom onto the phone without issue. used it for a few days, but mobile network wasn't working that well. it wipe the clavik and cache and that's when all hell broke lose with it constantly rebooting and having the blue text with recovery booting load and it's been stuck like that for a while now. flashed the stock roms to no help with the same result.
