S-Pen Problem - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was doing some doodling today and noticed that when my Spen is hovered over the right side of the screen (see attachment) its aligned but when I lower it closer to the screen the pointer drifts off to the outermost edge of the screen sort of the same effect as if you had a magnet underneath that area. I was wondering it anyone else is having the same problem or if its only my device. It only does it if I am holding the S-pen slanted in the same way i have in the picture.
Does the exact same on the left side if holding S-pen in a left slant

Are you using any flip case?

Another case of a case with a magnet.
That magnet distorts the magnetic fields that are being used by the WACOM digitizer (S-pen).

That's going to happen man. Another friend of mine was using his Note 3 with the S-View wallet case that he bought along with the device.
The alignment was perfect for the first few days (if there was any, he probably did not notice). Then from the third day on, the right side of the screen became somewhat unresponsive. Tried it out myself. The digitizer was being recognized but in the wrong places altogether.
He started using some TPU case from Spigen I think and the problem vanished in a jiffy. Try that out. It's not a problem with your device.

I have a similar issue and I'm not using a case at all. When close to the edges, the pointer moves a bit toward either edge. If I tilt the pen it does the same thing as OP's.

Strange bezel defect...

I must noticed the bezel on my new GT 10.1 has a small bump on the top left edge of the bezel.
I thought it may be a scratch, but it looks lime a casting defect... Has anyone else seen odd bits on the plastic bezel?
I'm thinking if exchanging it, but won't bother if its pretty normal.
Thanks!

Feel free to take an image. But that corner and the opposite is where the to pieces joins on my tab.
Yep... mine has the same thing too. Mine is on every single corner. I doubt this is a defect, I never even noticed it until I seen your post and looked very closely.
When held in landscape mode, the 'bump' is on the left side, on the bezel surface that is flush with the bezel and directly above the speaker.
Ie I felt it as a bump becuase it was right next to the edge of the screen.
I will try and take picture..

[Q] Screen affected by magnet?

I have magnetic flap case on my phone, which I've used for the last year. Even though the magnets are not supposed to affect the screen I have a crescent shaped mark on my screen right where the magnet is, and the mark is under the Zagg protector. It looks like a dark smudge though it's not real noticeable.
I think it's from the phone coming on while in the case. I bought the phone barely used a year ago and I inspected it closely then. I don't recall seeing this until recently.
Anyone seen such a thing happen?
It could be the magnet affecting the screen, or it could be the magnet and the button were making pressure on the screen. Try to not use that case for a while, it may go away.
(I remember those old TVs which used to have a purple smudge on them when you close a magnet)
Yes, I've got a new case coming. Until it gets here I'll put the phone in the present case backwards. Thanks!

Fear not my brother, mine does it to.

Mine does that near all edges of the screen

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge Capacitive touch lights not working....?

Has anyone have this issue of the back and recent capacitive touch lights not lighting with certain cases?
I have a specific "creit card case" with a flap on the back that closes pretty securely by connecting to a small magnet in the case and I LOVE the case because the "flap" also acts like a tri-fold kickstand similar to some tablet cases in how they fold to pro the device up and it's a really grippy and padded case BUT....when the S7 Edge (in my case) is in the case the lights on the buttons don't light up. The minute I even start pulling the phone out of the case at about 2 inches out near the bottom the ligts come on...nothing in the front of the case is covered by the case itself so I can only assume that it's the magnet in the flap on the back which IS in the lower section of the case.
Thoughts? Would/could this cause permanent damage? What other issues if any have you had with your S7 S7 Edge case?
Thanks all

screen marks that are not explainable

well i am the type that keeps extreme care of the any phone, so i bought a leather case that covers both front and back and there are places where the top cover has inserts for credit cards, by time i noticed that there are marks that are on the screen that appear when when the phone becomes greasy at the exact location where the top inner side touches the screen and align with the leather outputs of the credit cards, knowing i even never put any credit card in the cover, so what was touching the inner glass was the leather cuts of where the credit cards go into
this is really frustrating no matter what I do or tried to clean it with, the line seem to be permanent, now if i clean the phone with microfiber the lines go away, but once the screen catch grease from finger tip i can see those lines
I had the exact same thing happen, wallet case with no cards. There seems to be a fine line of small scuffs across the screen. It's not horribly obvious so I'm not freaking out about it, but I stopped using that case immediately.
I didn't actually look to see what type of glass it is, but I had a Note 4 for two years with pretty pristine glass still, so I just assumed I'd be fine... Oops.

Can you guys provide the names of the cases you're using for others to be warned?
I'm pretty sure it was this one, just a cheapo case from Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LOWZ21Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_DbjzybFRJY4QS
for me that is really awful news, nothing works to get this removed. When you use the phone and the screen catches some finger prints those permanent smudges just make the screen look bad.
How can this happen to glass baffles me, I am really unhappy, as I am very careful about keeping my phone in prestine condition. and I just hate it when even a tiny scrtach happens on my phone, so now this is way too much.
I need to get this removed, as its bothering me alot, and my freind who owns the same phone who uses a leather case with credit card on the top side also had the same issue, so it does not matter which case it is, what is happening is that the screen simply produces scuff like markings just from being in touch with a case that has credit card type of style
what the hell is going on with LG, to test it if you are using such cases, just rub your finger accross the screen and what out for scuff marks under certain lighting
Same here but i am without a case. I going for a free screen replacement under warranty and then applying a nilkin tempered glass.
