Has anyone have this issue of the back and recent capacitive touch lights not lighting with certain cases?
I have a specific "creit card case" with a flap on the back that closes pretty securely by connecting to a small magnet in the case and I LOVE the case because the "flap" also acts like a tri-fold kickstand similar to some tablet cases in how they fold to pro the device up and it's a really grippy and padded case BUT....when the S7 Edge (in my case) is in the case the lights on the buttons don't light up. The minute I even start pulling the phone out of the case at about 2 inches out near the bottom the ligts come on...nothing in the front of the case is covered by the case itself so I can only assume that it's the magnet in the flap on the back which IS in the lower section of the case.
Thoughts? Would/could this cause permanent damage? What other issues if any have you had with your S7 S7 Edge case?
Thanks all
GO!

I have magnetic flap case on my phone, which I've used for the last year. Even though the magnets are not supposed to affect the screen I have a crescent shaped mark on my screen right where the magnet is, and the mark is under the Zagg protector. It looks like a dark smudge though it's not real noticeable.
I think it's from the phone coming on while in the case. I bought the phone barely used a year ago and I inspected it closely then. I don't recall seeing this until recently.
Anyone seen such a thing happen?
It could be the magnet affecting the screen, or it could be the magnet and the button were making pressure on the screen. Try to not use that case for a while, it may go away.
(I remember those old TVs which used to have a purple smudge on them when you close a magnet)
Yes, I've got a new case coming. Until it gets here I'll put the phone in the present case backwards. Thanks!
I was doing some doodling today and noticed that when my Spen is hovered over the right side of the screen (see attachment) its aligned but when I lower it closer to the screen the pointer drifts off to the outermost edge of the screen sort of the same effect as if you had a magnet underneath that area. I was wondering it anyone else is having the same problem or if its only my device. It only does it if I am holding the S-pen slanted in the same way i have in the picture.
Does the exact same on the left side if holding S-pen in a left slant
Are you using any flip case?

Another case of a case with a magnet.
That magnet distorts the magnetic fields that are being used by the WACOM digitizer (S-pen).
That's going to happen man. Another friend of mine was using his Note 3 with the S-View wallet case that he bought along with the device.
The alignment was perfect for the first few days (if there was any, he probably did not notice). Then from the third day on, the right side of the screen became somewhat unresponsive. Tried it out myself. The digitizer was being recognized but in the wrong places altogether.
He started using some TPU case from Spigen I think and the problem vanished in a jiffy. Try that out. It's not a problem with your device.
I have a similar issue and I'm not using a case at all. When close to the edges, the pointer moves a bit toward either edge. If I tilt the pen it does the same thing as OP's.
I've only just found out that the s6 edge plus has a flexible plastic substrate insteaf of a glass substrate like on the s3 and s4... due to gorilla glass 4 being thinner and the screen underneath is a plastic substrate have any of you experienced rattling sound when you tap the screen too hard?
The problem is me, i have always tapped hard on my screen naturally i have elephant thumbs and fingers and typing tapping softly is not easy for me especially if i am trying to type fast with 1 finger or pressing on apps on homescreen.
The reason for my concern is i have had my replacement s6 edge plus for a week now and using it how i normally do ie tapping it naturally hard. I noticed after that time a certain grippy rattling sound from me tapping on screen and the parts behind the screen rattling. It has happened to me on my notepro 12.2 and tab 4 7 inch which dont have gorilla glass. It got so bad on my note pro 12.2 that i can feel the screen flex domrtimes when i press on the screen. The insides have shifted back so now the parts protrude slightly at the back of the tablet and there are air pockets. Also the rattling dound is annoying.
Was surprised the edge plus was experiencing this issue as it has gorilla glass like my s3 and s4 and they have no rattling issues what so ever because the screen is flat hard thicker gorilla glass and glass substrate.
I think the issue is that gorilla glass 4 and the pladtic substrate combo is likely to give me issues in future ie i think the plastic substrate will detach from the glass tho it is glued down so i think that may not occur but the parts behind it will sink lower or loosen.
I know i have to be careful now how i type on the edge plus but it's hard adjusting when i try to type quickly. Is anyone else experiencing this issue of rattling? It happens particularly the area where the rear camera is placed as that is more hollow. Im not inpressed how samsung reinforce their screens to save weight.
yep i can feel it too

It's going to be a problem isnt it? I have this feeling the plastic substrste is either going to collapse or push back the components behind it so might loosen a cable.
Im being mindful not to press too hard on the screen but im sure I'll lapse if im in a rush tryna type quickly.
I think it was a bad move having thinner gorilla glass tho supposedly stronger it doesn't offer the same rigidity as gorilla glass 2 or 3.
I think many people will have this issue in 6 months as it takes time for it to develop and rattle more i can only speak from experience from my 2 tablets which had the issue.
I just assumed cos it was gorilla glass like my s3 and s4 there wouldn't be any flexing isdue when tapping on the screen but because it's so thin it's pushing on the plastic substrate making the components behind it rattle.
It should be fine if im careful the next 2 years as with my tablets all that's happening is it sinks a bit but everything works fine but the rattling sound is very annoying
So can you feel the screen flexing if you push down on it? Does anyone else feel this pressing the middle of the screen? In places it flexes. Very annoying.

Did the flexing get worse for you?
I've cracked my S7 Edge and S6 Edge at least 4 times already. I don't use a case because it's like putting a case on a Maserati. You're supposed to show it off! But I'm tired of paying the deductible and having my phone in the shop. I feel like the S7 Edge is more prone to cracks than the S7 because the metal on the side of the S7 absorbs more impact instead of the edge glass. I've almost decided to switch to the S7 because of this.
Anyone have any suggestions on a case that both 1) protects the edge glass sides and 2) shows off the sleek design? I'm okay if it covers the edge glass because the touchscreen on the edge is a bit too sensitive anyway.
You cracked your phones 4 times, therefore you need the Unicorn Beetle Pro case.

Just got this one in as I've had good experiences with their cases in the past. I chose the matte smoke so it doesn't show dirtiness or discolor easily like a clear would. On my titanium S7E, it looks fantastic. The sides are clear so it blends in perfectly. The back looks okay... but I never look at the back of the phone anyway.
Only thing I may not like about it is the buttons... the edges stop where the aluminum edges meet the glass on the sides, so it keeps the naked feeling on the actual display which is great. The case does go over the buttons though, but doesn't wrap completely around the side of them so the case buttons can slip off the actual buttons somewhat easily and feel weird/make it slightly hard to push the buttons. It's hard to describe. The corners are very well protected though and the case is tight on the phone. I'll take a picture later.
Why not posting in the S7E accessories section?

Stop droping your phones.
Many, many case reviews here:

But no case that retains edge functionality will really prevent damage if you drop your phone and the edge hits something hard.
I am looking for a case with good grip and tall enough edges to protect the screen and to cover up the edges of the phone so that the edges don't interfere with I'm using the phone. The edges regularly screws up Swiftkey and other apps because the fingers of the hand holding the phone accidentally triggers parts of the edges.
Any recommendations?

I'm in the same boat as you, I hate the edges and the only reason I bought the edge version was because of the battery and bigger screen. I was coming from a Note 4 (in the UK we didn't get the Note 5).
What I did was disable the edge screens and I'm using the Caseology Parallax series case. (I'm also using SwiftKey without any issues)
It has a pretty cool indented diamond texture on the back, and I'm using it with a "glass" screen protector with everything working as it should.
It protects the screen well and it feels good in the hand.
Here's a link to the case:

I hope this helps.
I would recommend:

https://www.spigen.com/collections/...-s7-edge-case-tough-armor?variant=11972837569
The spiegen is better than the obliq in grip. Advantage for Obliq is the embosed keys.
In my oppinion, you can always buy Spiegen. Mostoften best choice for everything. This is my 2nd Spiegen Case (firs one for LG G4).
You will not find any half protecting case with lips for the edge.
Alternative you can choose a full cover like this:

Should have added palm rejection in nougat update ?
