Nexus 7 quad core tablet for only $199 - $249

So what is everyone's thoughts?

They say it will be $199 to $249. That's the same and cheaper than we paid for our GT7's.

I'll probably end up returning my tab to Costco and getting this. Maybe I have a lemon, but the screen's touch response has been pretty frustrating and I'd rather just not deal with it anymore.

Just looking at the specs i think it will be a good deal, BUT some bad things in my opinion are:
Nvidia..
Resolution, i own the 7" with 1024x600 and all the web sites fits perfectly on the screen when in landscape mode, with 1280 you will have some extra empty borders making the fonts somewhat smaller without any browser tricks, higher resolution to me is equals to more detailed but smaller things
Hope it haves gps...
This is not confirmed but it seems it will be asus, after reading some feedback about them i dont think they are a good choice
In my opinion the better things are:
Jelly bean
Nexus, it will have a lot of dev and google support
A quadcore, i think i dont need it since i rarely play games on my tablet.
Nfc, i dont have any use for it but someone will...
Im not talking about battery life because we all know all manufacturers lie.
I will look closer at the nexus 7 forums, and maybe i will sell my tab and get it but i dont think so

I was kind of disappointed when hearing this, but I have really gotten over it. To fit those specs into that price range they are going to have to skimp on a lot of other stuff. Also, the Quad core won't do much as Android doesn't really use all 4 cores unless you are doing benchmarks or playing one of Nvidia's games.
The only real advantage that has is the screen, but who know's the quality of the screen, also for a 7" tablet I would rather have the lower resolution.
The only thing I really see for this tablet is the dev support, which after getting a fully functional CM9 port, I don't really care too much as that is probably the only thing I would run on it anyways.
Finally, I just came from an Asus tablet and while I loved the thing it did have a good bit of flaws and a lot of angry customers. My ASUS laptop works great but I guess that doesn't carry over to their tablet division.

Keep in mind that this is an Asus built unit - don't get too excited. My Tab 2 7.0 browses better than my Prime.
Google is going to regret the day they partnered with Asus... Check back in about 4 months...

Count me as one of those "angry" former Asus customers. Two laptops and one
tablet, all gave me nothing but headaches.... I am a very understanding person
and I know electronics can have defects. However, Asus was absolutely terrible
when I tried to get the products fixed under warranty. It was a painful and slow
process. Not to mention that their customer service reps seemed to trained to
ask 20 questions and expect detailed answers before approving a warranty
repair request.

I thing I'm curious about is whether or not it will have the ability to use external SD cards. Since this is a reference device, and if you look at the Nexus phones they don't support them either.
Since my Tab is now my primary travel companion for long international trips for movies - that's a huge negative in my book.

I see the pros being the display, price, and development support. Outside of that, the rest of the specs seem in line with the Tab 2. Who is going to use NFC and Google Wallet from a tablet? Unless Google Wallet becomes more like Passbook, it's going to be useless as I would think you would need an internet connection, and how awkward would it be paying with a 7" tablet?
The CPU could be a plus for them, but it may also affect battery life having more cores. The Tegra 3 looks like a fairly solid SoC, but as others said, quad-core isn't going to do much for a while, if ever, as most stuff that would tax the system will have stuff offloaded to the GPU as you are likely gaming. The lack of a rear camera isn't huge IMO, as I never use the cameras on my tablet now.
Cons I see are the low price point as well. It's great to have a cheap tablet, but what did they cut back on to get it cheap? I also see no mention of GPS, WiFi, or Bluetooth, so who knows what it has there. I think that the Galaxy Tab 2 having hardware very similar to the Galaxy Nexus is a benefit to us, as we can more easily get AOSP working that way. It will have problems, as the builds do now, but until more details of the Nexus Tablet are released, I still think the GTab2 is a great device.

I sincerely hope Google won't make the same mistake twice. (first one was
when it left out a microSD slot in my Galaxy Nexus phone) A tablet without
microSD slot is about as useful as a paperweight... or I can just get a KF.

Haha no doubt. I had a kf for a few days and hated not having a slot.
The galaxy nexus doesn't have one? Wtf? Really?
I doubt it has GPS. It doesn't even have a rear camera.

I've had my Galaxy Nexus since December. The #1 thing that I hated
was the lack of SD slot. (otherwise, it was a cool phone)

I just got my gtab 7 today. Its great! Was thinking if the asus,but i love my tab with ir blaster. Glad with my choice.

I don't mind the no sdcard slot on my phone but on a tablet that is just unacceptable.

This will be the differentiator for me. If the Nexus 7 doesn't have an SD slot then I'll get the Galaxy Tab 2. No SD card is just unacceptable.

I think our GT2 will kick that Asus Tablet's ass.

+1. I bet for that asus to get to that price point wont have a micro sd card slot and back camera. To me the gtab is all i need, as browsing is so darn fast. I dont read ebooks, but for regular tasks this is quite fast.

I have never used the camera on my gtab, however I just can't see a tablet that doesn't have a SD slot, but if it doesn't that would be the deal breaker.
I really like my gtab, a lot more now with CM9 on it, so when the Nexus 7 hits it will be a tough decision.

I Really Hope this is a real device that will be released for that price! The issue is I will be kicking myself in the face because I just bought the Tab 2.

Honestly glad I didn't buy this tablet. It was a gift so no regrets :/ I'm happy with it regardless.

On the fence about getting the new Note 10.1 2014 Edition

I am in love with this tablet. It checks on pretty much everything that I'm looking for. But one thing is holding me back from jumping the gun on October 10..... the price.
550 for a 16gb and 600 for a 32gb sounds like a no brainer. But I feel that it's a no small pocket change to drop on a tablet. I know the screen is crazy good and the s pen makes it head and shoulders over what's currently available. But I keep on trying to justify the reasoning for the 600 price tag.
I believe the thing that I keep going back to is the lack of tablet optimized apps for Android. Don't get me wrong, I've been pro android since the htc hd2, and I been through my share of samsung devices (got the note 2, 1st day it launched) . But I also had the original galaxy tab 10.1 and chose to get it early and paid the premium for it. Then it seemed within less than 4 months, the price dropped and continued to do so. And even though it was great for consuming videos and browsing the web I felt like the majority of the apps just didn't either scaled properly to the 10.1 form factor, or they weren't as polished as the iPad apps are.
I waited last week, to see what Microsoft was going to do with their newly redesigned surface pro 2, but it failed to excite me unlike the new 10.1 note is doing. If I could dual boot jellybean and windows on the surface pro 2, i'd probably look into that.
Maybe things have changed for the better on the tablet side for Android apps. But i ultimately ended up giving the tablet to my grandfather so he could Skype his grandkids and watch football. I just want to see what you guys's reasons were for being excited and early adopters and paying the premium price for early adoption.

Well for some, myself included, this is a luxury item and think the slight increase in price from last years model isn't that bad. For your money you would be buying the best tablet available (imo) and it will be quite the beast for your daily consumption, and it will also last for years. Its really a laptop without the keyboard that has much better battery life and is more portable in the scheme of things. I'm not a laptop person and rather a tablet for the things I want to do.Since Android is taking tablets serious these days its gotten and will be much better in the future since its proving to not be a niche item any longer. I'm really anxious to start seeing reviews in the next week or so in the meanwhile..... I guess you have some deciding to do and I just wanted to chime in.

I too am not a laptop person. I was taken back a little bit by the price when it was announced. I was hoping for the 32GB to be around $550. For me the extra $50 is ok for all the extras it comes with. But really what it boils down to is how much I use my current tablet.
My current tablet is the HP Touchpad with Cyanogenmod Android ICS installed. I am a desktop fanatic and was completely blown away by how much time I shifted from my desktop to the tablet. I am a news junkie and a Reddit.com reader so I get tons of use out of a device that is, in my opinion, perfectly set up for internet consumption.
All in all, I love the 10 inch tablet form factor and use it for hours every day so I feel the price is justified for me.

I really am liking the extra features that Samsung has added on top of Android, such as being able to run two apps side by side. After having the last two Transformers (Prime and Infinity) and having a ton of issues with their performance, this is will be the best premium tablet on the market, and that comes with a price. Sure you can get a laptop for that price, but if a tablet fits your needs better, it'll be hard to top this tablet. If you need to save some money, wait for the next Nexus device. If this tablet isnt in your budget, don't feel pressured to get the device. It is better to be straight financially than to stress over a luxury item.

i think even if the S-pen is bad, as long as that technology is in the tablet, you can use something like the bamboo FEEL by wacom to supplement the S-pen usage

This a premium product, it's going to be priced accordingly. I was honestly expecting $700, it's coming in under my expectations. This is a steal at this price.

Just make sure you get a microSD card, as the note, and most phones and tablets in general, only have a microSD slot, not a full SD card slot.

I think that is a little high priced by mabe $50 bucks. I have owned dozens of android tablets since version 1.5 and I have a nexus 7 2013 edition. I am looking forward to this one would have liked at least 64gb. I also have an ipad 4 that is the 128gb version it was $799 plus $99 insurance plus $40 case plus tax = about a grand. I love the apps on ios but i know you can do more on android. I would like to see android tablet apps like iOS apps and 128gb and up android tablets to be able to install lots of apps on as apps are only instalable on internal memory. I know I overpaid for my ipad but I don't think the price would be far off with a comparable memory spec android tablet.

Thats why there are different specifications and different price points... To serve the masses..

if you dont use the spen much id recommend something like the lg tablet coming out. Great size and specs with way less cost. Lots of tablets to fit almost any price range exist.

The lg g pad should be released soon and has an 8.9 inch screen, sd 600, and magnificent screen and ppi, and much cheaper. The new kindle is also 8.9 inch screen, sd 800, awesome screen and ppi, and much cheaper. The coming nexus 10 will have great specs and a 10 inch screen and will be cheaper. The tf701 infinity will be out soon and has a 10 inch screen, tegra 4 a d gorgeous screen res and ppi and will be cheaper. Those are the most popular. There are others you can google.

At the rate ASUS is going they will not be releasing the new infinity until 2014. Joking aside....I hear rumors its pushed back to mid-November though...something must be wrong. I'm not going to wait any longer for ASUS.

Where did you get price info for the tf701?? Because the tf700, at least at launch, was priced on par with the note 10, and that price didn't include the keyboard **** either, which case about $150 or so more.

I was researching and following the new Transformer tf701 for a bit and I think the consensus was that it would be $399 for just the tablet and $499 with dock for the base model but I'm not 100% on that and I think its unofficial...I could be wrong though

I have not heard pricing myself, didn't think pricing or availability had been said yet, at least not in any of the major news outlets or Asus website.

this price is on par for what i paid for my TF700 tho, so i'd believe it.

Samsung just released their new tablets that 8 inch looks interesting to me depends on price however. How does it compare to gpad for you ?

I'm still happy with my purchase and the deal I got on it ($259 USD via Newegg). The Samsung Pro 8.4 is the only one that makes me blink. Faster chip, good. Marginally larger battery to deal with the screen, bad. Touchwiz, higher resolution screen, meh. The G Pad, for its meager shortcomings, offers a heckuva lot of bang for the buck, at the price I got it anyway. Not regretting it!

Lol yeah I missed that deal I live in New jersey so payed tax $300 so if it's around $300 -$350 I would be all for it lol. My gpad comes tomorrow so well see I guess. It should have pretty good development support and accessories.

I feel the same. The 8.4 inch display model is pretty sweet.. Pricing may be a bit higher, so again.. I wouldn't buy it just cause of that. And the 3 hardware buttons on the front is a no go. It's old and I don't like it as much as having a blank screen where it's just me and the screen/movie/book.. The over all design looks good ol' fashion Samsung. Looks sturdy and has kindof a Galaxy S2 feel to it. The S2 was the best mobile phone I've ever had. Damn a lot of stuff happened back then. But yeah, looks like a decent tablet. But I think I'll be quite happy with the G Pad still, since it does have what I'm looking for in a nice, cheap package and decent build quality.

The Samsung Exynos 5 Octa CPU is a new gen processor which samsung tries to make it use all eight cores at once. If a tablet with that chip comes out it will surely be very powerful and definitely better than gpad.

As long as Samsung uses a home button i will never buy again.I'm very happy with the pad.

The new Touch Wiz looks really awful. I don't even know what they're thinking. It's like they want it to work and look like Windows 8 but don't want to use Windows 8. Personally I wouldn't touch the new tabs with a 10 foot pole.

They can't help them self's.They always need to add a little from other oem's

I am an owner of note 10.1 2012 ..... I am looking up to
Change my tab as there is no updates for it at all ... Till now it is on version 4.1.2 and it is 100% guaranteed now after these pro tablets unveiled there will be no updates for the older devices ... I wont buy any of these new pro tablets because of the price firstly and in the future they will be thrown to the dust like my note 10.1 now ..... Also i am thinking of getting lg g pad 8.3 but no software updates like my current note and lack of dev support keeps me away

I'd be very surprised if the 8.4 was less than $399. I'm sure Samsung considers it to be fully equivalent to the newest iPad mini. Samsung used to compete on price but no more. When I bought my first plasma TV in 2007 Samsung was a much better deal than Panasonic or Pioneer. When it came time to buy another one last year I thought Samsung was too expensive and bought an LG I'm very happy with.

Quite simply, I am going to switch to a Tab Pro 8.4 as soon as it is available.
It has a way better display, it has NFC (which I miss), it's way more powerful (G Pad is pretty slow), it has a polycarbonate back (I dislike the faux leather, I would much rather have a rubber back like the Nexus 7 2013 or the old Samsung HyperGlaze but anything is WAY, WAY better than effing METAL!!!!) and the Samsung one is the best version of Android around (MultiWindow *alone* would do it for me).
I can't wait to get my hands on it.
P.S. Actually, the ONLY reason I am interested in mid-sized tablets (8"/8.5") is WEIGHT.
Anything beyond 350/400 grams is simply too heavy to be ergonomic and truly comfortable for extended use.
The new Samsung Tab Pro 10.1" is 469grams and I am planning on trying it out with the intention of switching back to a 10.1"...
Ideally, my perfect tablet would be something like the Note Pro 12.2" but would weigh no more than 400 grams with an all-day battery life... (which is, of course, not technically possible. YET).

Pretty Slow? Try CM 11, Stock is slow. Switching from G Pad to Notepro 8.4 seems useless to me.
I am sort of disappointed that the G Pad is no longer the best 8 incher but it's still pretty great so its fine...

I doubt I will bite. I like my LG 8.3 GPE a lot. Samsung does this to me every year: announce something that captures my imagination, I'm intrigued, I convince myself it will be at a palatable price point, and then finally delivers something I consider too expensive and doesn't hit the sweet spot for my tastes.
I do own a Galaxy Note 10.1, and I love it. But the 2014 edition left me a bit cold.
I doubt I will dip into these waters again, probably just upgrading to a new Nexus 10 when the timing feels right.

I'm very happy with my G Pad and won't switch. If the Samsung 8.4 was available a couple of weeks ago at a competitive price I would have taken it, simply due to previous experience with both LG and Samsung phones. I like the idea of hard buttons on the bezel - means more screen space. There will also be more development on the Samsung tablets.

The G Pad with CM11 or the G Pad GPE are surely faster but you would have to give up, among other things, Knock On, the IR Remote and full SDcard support and those are huge deal breakers for me.
True, LG's ROM is most certainly slower and laggier than stock Android but it's also way more feature complete (which is probably also *why* is slower...). Features that I do use.
Besides the ones just mentioned, there are dozens of things like Quickmemo, the overlay apps (QSlide), the keyboard with the numbers row, the volume and brightness sliders and on and on...
Switching from G Pad to Notepro 8.4 seems useless to me.

As I said: way better display, NFC, way more powerful (while being even more feature rich), polycarbonate back, Samsung SW (MultiWindow above all).
I also forgot to mention that notwithstanding pretty much identical size and weight, the display is sensibly bigger on the Tab Pro as it's not only 0.1" physically bigger but it also doesn't have virtual buttons taking up screen real estate.
So, far from "useless"... The money I will lose selling the G Pad and buying the Tab Pro is really a very small price to pay for such a big upgrade.
P.S. I am not dissing my G Pad, still like it a lot and still think it's the overall best mid-size tablet on the market right now.

I have no intentions of switching as i really love this lg. I also suspect that these new Pro models will not be cheap. For my uses the lg is plenty fast and smooth. And since a tablet is just entertainment for me, there is only so much any tablet is worth and i bet these new Samsung tablets will exceed that price.

What Rom will it come with? I've learned to only buy with Qualcomm cpus because they get the best long-term support. There's a chance that the Qualcomm ones are only for lte support....

Great to hear you're not dissinf the G Pad!
You said switching to a notepro 8.4 would be a small price to pay, but you have no idea how much its going to cost. I bet at least 400.
BTW, knock on works just fine on CM 11. IR support is missing, haven't tried a SD card. Is it not going to work? Oh, and be sure the new bloated "pro" touchwiz will be slower than the lg rom.

The 2014 LG - V400 & V700 as of this writing are passing through the FCC.. I could be dead wrong but the V400 sounds like a 7" tablet and the V700 possibly a 10 - 12" device.
How do you feel about adding or upgrading to one of these units? has the V500/V510 been pretty much what you expected? Or maybe a better question would be.. Has LG met your expectations to a level that you would consider purchasing an LG tablet again? I would say it's a given that the V700 will be packing the Snapdragon 801/805 3gigs of Ram and possibly that 2K display that's coming on the LG-G3.. is that enough muscle to tempt you to upgrade from the V500?

While I have only had it a week, I am suitably impressed enough with the Gpad 8.3 to choose LG over Samsung for my next phone/tablet purchase.

With all the recent deeply discounted sales, and the discontinuation at Best Buy, it's quite possible that one of these new tablets is an 8.3 upgrade. If that's the case, I'm only semi-interested. A reboot will cost $350 (or more?) again, and I'm very happy with my 8.3. After all, I don't use it for anything I feel it's lacking in right now. Graphically-intense games (Asphalt 8, Soulcalibur), work fine, videos look great (and a 4K screen would be wasted), and browsing and ebooks don't exactly require a powerhouse. An 801 or 805 Snapdragon powered 8.3 with 3gb of RAM and a quadHD screen would be cool and all, but I don't need that.

I already know from experience that 7 is on the small end for me, and since reading is a big factor for me, 10 inches would be too big. Right now, this is the perfect form factor for me. I might consider a 10-incher for more online reading/browsing I suppose, but only as a complement, not a replacement. To be clear, I do not consider a different size as an upgrade no matter what the performance improvements.
I thoroughly love this tablet, so yes, i would gladly buy LG again, and certainly recommend it. I think there is nothing close to it in terms of price/performance right now. The only think I might really wish for is greater battery life, or a brighter screen for sunlight use, but even then, it is not a deal breaker.

same here. I was an original LG G2x owner that everybody knows what a freaking mess that was. The worst phone I ever owned. So i stayed away from LG. But then I decided to buy LG pad and love it so far. waiting to see what LG g3 will look like.

NO wonder it has been on a fire sale for $230 this past week. My Pad is coming next week. 7" is too small and 10" or more is too big. 8" is perfect.

Until there's a rock solid ~8.9" offering, ideally a Nexus or GPE, I'll stick with my G Pad GPE (daily driver) and my Nook HD+ (really only used as a comic reader now). I'm hoping the rumors of a Nexus 8.9 later this year are true and that the price is right.

As for the V510, there is no reason to change/upgrade. The screen size is perfect, and everything is damn near instantaneous in opening and response. The kernel needed some tweaking, and there are still a few items missing, but not enough to warrant bothering with it. I'm guessing at this point I will keep this tablet until the screen on a new one allows full sun reading and a foldable device that weighs considerably less. Anything else is just fluff.
Funny that I may not have too long to wait.

I think most will agree.. 8 inches is the *Goldie Locks* Sweet Spot for tablet size..
But.. I also think the allure of a Higher Res Screen 1920 x 1080 to 2560 x 1600 (2K Resolution) and a jump from 1.7 GHz to 2.5GHz and the promise of Key-Lime Pie 4.5/5.0 out of the box or with a swift update this fall, will be enough to change a lot of our minds..
By then, the pressure of the Nexus-8 and maybe even an updated Galaxy Note 8.4 will have a lot of us re-thinking how we feel at this moment..

Nexus 8 is still just a rumor, and the updated Galaxy Note is low res, so no chance. As to the Tab Pro specs, here's the thing: I paid $213 for the G Pad and am very happy with it. The Tab Pro is nice, but aside from some incremental improvements (the G Pad already has a Retina display as per Apple's own definition), things like the pen, or improved camera are of no interest to me. Truly NONE.
I am not a graphic artist, and I barely do any handwriting nowadays, though I write for a living. As to the rear camera, I have never even used it once, since my go-to camera is my LG G2, and for more serious pictures, I have more serious equipment. The front camera is more than good enough for video Skyping.
So do I think the faster CPU, and higher resolution screen are worth an extra $150? Nope.

As for as this "Low-Res" 2014 Samsung Galaxy Note 8.4 you are referring to... I can find no such device..

It looks like Samsung is going to have 3 distinctive lines... Tab Series.. Tab Pro Series.. and the Note Series of tablets..
I'm sure there will be an updated Note 8.0 version at some point in 2014.. given how popular the 2012 Note 8.0 was there is bound to be an updated version.
But I have to admit.. if that V700 is indeed a 10" slate with full 2K resolution, Snapdragon 801/805 @ 2.5 or > and priced @ $449 - $499.99 and has a sleek bezel design.. it's going to be tempting to me..

Look Their should be only 2 tablets in this world for any manufacture, one you can hold in 1 hand and another model that needs 2 hands. Anything else is just noise and will be discontinued. Why samsung has like 12 models in the $250-500 range ill never know.
My wish list for the next gpad is same rez, brighter/better screen, a portrait/landscape kickstand, and a back not made of butter.

Back made of butter? As to kickstand, a case is your friend. Not sure about portrait, but mine supports landscape just fine.
If Samsung has that many models, then clearly they have a market for them, so bully for them. It is funny that they do not have any that can compete with the LG in price/performance (current price $200-250 of course).

Go the the lg g pad 10.1 forum... More people there with the 7.0 lg g pad
There is root (via stumproot(?))
No boot loader unlock possible right now , so no custom ROM/kernel/recovery

Nexus 9 is too expensive

The Nexus 9 is way too expensive.
I have a 2012 Nexus 7, which is still going strong.
I am about at the point that I will be making another tablet purchase.
I will likely go with Samsung's Tab Pro 8.4, which I have recently seen at Best Buy for between $ 240 and $ 280, depending on whats on sale that week.
The tab pro 8.4 gets great reviews and is very competitive spec-wize.; it has a higher res rear cam, higher pixels per inch count on its display , 2.3 ghz quad-core processor, and a micro sd slot for augmenting memory.
Its only short coming is the Touchwiz UI.

Don't throw away your money on the Tab Pro 8.4. Samsung has basically abandoned that tablet and it's not even a year old yet. Great specs, sure, but it's also kinda laggy because of Touchwiz. I'm actually looking at getting the Nexus 9 because of this.

Nvidia Shield is the best tablet you can buy. Close to stock android. Quad-core 2.2 GHz Cortex-A15, GPU ULP GeForce Kepler (192 cores), Full HD Screen, Timely updates, 2gb of Ram. Has amazing reviews. Can be a normal tablet for everyday use or gaming.

Yeah I know, I developed a bunch of ROM's for it. Had to do blind tests since I don't have it.

I would agree that they have abandoned it in favor of the Tab S, but how does that affect its usefulness?
I put CyanongenMod on my Tab Pro and it was great. I would have figured few people on this forum keep their devices stock, but to each is own. I will concede that Touchwiz is just OK.

It will mean that getting future custom ROMs could be potentially compromised because (1) Samsung may not release stuff that is needed for these ROMs, and (2) how many devs (which there aren't many to begin with) are going to want to keep putting in work to an "obsolete" device.

Anyone saying that other tablets are "comparable spec wise" either forgot about the 64-bit CPU or they are likely underestimating the effect it will have on performance. Unless you are considering a different tablet with either a Denver K1 or Snapdragon 810 there is probably no point in comparing it to the Nexus 9.

This is the most powerful tablet on the market. It is also the first 64-bit android tab. It will also get updates first. $399 for a 16gb isn't so bad

It's not so bad if you can add more or don't need much space, or prefer to blindly trust on Google's storage and have an unfailing internet connection. Otherwise it's kinda sad and 2012-ish. The price isn't right for that little storage.

Nexus 7 sucks, can't wait for nexus 9

I even consider buying a iPad Mini 2 (only £329 for 32GB) given the iPad Mini 3 is not much of an upgrade to this and not worth buying.
But being a Nexus Fanboy, I'll probably will get a N9 and say Goodbye for my slow & laggy N10.

You can always use OTG. I am almost always near a WiFi connection so I should be fine. I have a grandfathered Unlimited T-Mo plan without hotspot but I want to see if I can bypass that. All my media will be coming off my server computer and apps shouldn't be that much space.

Please do your home work on the nvidia shield tablet!!!
It has been known of self cracking corners! Plenty of customers on here, I was one of them!!! even with the second batch and LTE version

It could of been a very good tablet. But has some very big issues!

For me it is bad. $399 screams highend and it should have had 32GB at that price point. But even that sounds bad. Should have been $300 for 16GB and $350 for 32GB.
Hate to bring up iPad's around here but a new retina mini cost $299 at 16GB. If you're not into rooting/hacking it looks pretty decent compared to these prices. Point being it won't take long for prices to drop on this new Nexus 9. I wouldn't be surprised to see these hit the refurb bins at $250 to $300 in 6 months. That's how I got my 2013 Nexus 7 for $130.

did u think about xiaomi's mi pad?! it has the same cpu and gpu. but at lower price.64 gb version is about 340$.also have the same size of Ipad mini2 and all the accessories of ipad mini2 fits to this one..from the Dev side of this tablet i dont know alot.but i know nvidia quickly turn behind to its cpu and products..i have htc one x..i waited a lot for some good games that never showed up!by the way i have ifive mini 3gs..i am very satisfied.. mi pad was my choice but i needed sim card slot so i bought this ifive.. I honestly believe that for what you get with the nexus 9 that it's going to be a decent deal.
I just bought a galaxy tab s 10.5 and am debating on buying the nexus 9 as my living room tablet.
