Out from speaker when headphones connected?

When I plug in the headphones(the one's included) the output comes from the speaker AND headphnes at the same time? I might be a lil tipsy but I can't find in the menu for this....I just wanna hook up my headphones and quietly jam out. But can't!

How did you guys fix this? I tried battery pull and turned on/off but no luck. The headphones quality sounds horrible when this happens. Starting to think it's a hardware issue? Thanks for your help.

All I did was did a battery pull. Left it out for about 10 seconds, then put it back in. I must say the sound quailty is nice(headphones that were included). I came from a moment and sound was low....on here its loud

i had the same issue when i was using Btunes to listen to music. When i went back to the stock app and also doubletwist the issue went away. I thought i was going crazy when i sat my phone down and could still hear music. LOL.

I had the headphones/speaker playing today at the same time as well, it happened when I didn't push the headset in all the way and then backed it out and replugged. It probably botched the software up going in/out/in like that, probably locked the external speaker on.
Yours, on the other hand, sounds like hardware. When the cable gets wonky on my aux wire, I get severe quality issues and I can kind of imagine what you're getting at with yours. Make sure that the plug clicks all the way in, and if the problem keeps happening - hardware it is.

Ear phones and speaker both on.

Hi. Really sorry if there's already a post on this. Is there a way I can turn the speak off when my ear phones are plugged in? I'm getting all the sounds like msg and ring tones coming out of speaker when my ear phones are plugged in. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure your headphone jack is plugged in fully? Haven't heard of this before - the speaker should be disconnected when the jack is inserted so all calls come in via headphones.
Have you tried bluetooth headset to see if that has the same issue?
Which ROM/Kernel are you using?
If you are still having issue then maybe a hardware fault - in which case take it back to Sammy under warranty.

The main point of this is so that if your earphones are plugged into your phone and they aren't in your ears the speakers ring to let you know there is a call or notification so you don't miss it, I don't think there iis a way to disable it though, or at least not on a stock rom

I'm on paranoid android 4.0.4. Yeah the ear phones are fully in. Wasn't sure if it was all phones that did this or something in settings that can disable it. I have them in at work so obviously its good if I get my msg tone and ringtone through my ear instead of through both. Thanks for your quick replies.

i know exactly and i wish there's a way to disable the speaker when the ear phone is plugged. I remedy this by going silence when i am plugged.

Some charges come bad from factory u should try a diferent charger

My charger definitely makes noise... It's usually not a problem and caused by some internal components

My galaxy nexus charger had this same type of issue. Although it would only emit a noise when the phone wasn't hooked up to it. Kinda reminded me of coil whine on certain video cards.
My charger makes the noise too, usually about 1h of use.. Also the charger from my previous lg phone (Optimus 2x) used to make the same noise too. My wife's s2 charger does not make any sound at all..

So I suppose its the way it is and its not a sign of faulty charger is it?

did anyone request a replacement charger from Google or is everyone just accepting it for what it is?
p.s. i found 3 threads for this issue...
I have this issue to. It's annoying when I wake up in the night and can hear it.
Mine is super annoying. I wouldn't be able to sleep with it charging beside me.

My Nexus 4 Charger also make noise
actually it buzz like a bee
But just when the cellphone isn't conect to it while conected to the electicity
when I plug my cellphone to it the noice stops!
May be the Nexus 4 charger is mice powered.

Lots Of Headphone Noise

When I'm using my N7 to play music I get a lot of white noise in the background. It's barely noticeable in loud songs but when listening to a quite song or nothing with the headphones plugged in it is extremely noticeable. Does anyone else have this problem and has anyone been able to fix it?
What headphone you use? My nexus is also make noise with my sensitive iem (cx300 II).

I notice it with both my Klipsch Image S-4's and my Bose Quietcomfort 3's. The Bose are noticeably worse, probably because you cant hear anything else.
Unplug the charger? I have the same problem but it's only there when I have my N7 plugged in.

I'm with clintvl. I have the same issue only while its plugged in.

Mine is with or without it plugged in. That makes sense though, with a car charger the noise gets really bad.

I've got the same problem. No matter what headphones i use or whether it is plugged in or not, the background noise is there and very annoying..

Cracking Noise when touching the screen

Hello guys, I just recognized this weird Noise today after clean install of vanir nightly 23/9 they appear after pressing any button, but I can only hear them when i have my headphones plugged in... When the music plays, I dont hear them anymore. They appear after pressing anywhere on the screen and disappear after ca. 2 seconds...
Anyone with this Problem too? Could this be nightly related? Thanks for your help

Don't panic. Nightlies are supposed to have bugs. Try a more stable version instead.
Nightly 25/9 Problem is still there, it seems to be "cracking" even when music is on, but the music is louder :-\ meaning it cracks when the track is changing while playing music...
