Hi guys,
I'm about to lose right now concerning this issue. I've had my International Version Galaxy S4 since mid July and it was all candy and heaven, until devil 4.3.3 version came up. I upgraded my phone via OTA. From that moment i have had the most obnoxious and stupid battery drain ever. my phone wont go to sleep mode and discharges over 50% in 8 hours overnight.
I called TechSup bur obviously they didnt do **** to help me, so i installed Gsam a few days ago and this is what happened (check the attachments)
Well. Without further ado, I present to you my stupid phone.:crying:
Great day everyone!
Ur phone suffers from wakelock issues which keeps your phone awake. Only way to combat this is flashing a different ROM (different KERNEL) onto your phone.

You get better info with three battery setting screenshots (little graph with main consumption processes, big graph tapping over little graph with partial wakelocks and other states, and screen total time on), please, post them.
Usually your problem can be fixed by over flashing same rom with Odin 3.09 (no data losing)
Enviado desde mi GT-I9500 usando Tapatalk 2
I had this drain in my old S2 when I upgraded from 4.0 to 4.1.. So to get rid of it, simply format your data (you can backup the apps u want via helium or any backup app)

Thx for your help, i really appreciate it

Since you made full wipe then you must try another rom and kernel (yes you will void warranty if you have knox) ...

Your problem seems similar to mine but in a bigger scale, you find more info at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557164
Right now the suggestion I have was given by the user maanz "L"
U might want to go to Google play store and select "do not auto updates".
Another thing to check is; got to Settings/MyDevice/Accessibility and unchecked Notification Reminder.
Next is; go to Google Settings app, open Android Device Manager and uncheck "Remotely report this device".
Reboot after making these changes and check BBS app after 4 hours.
Hope that these could bring down the high Android OS and phone awake.

Hello,
As I can change my note easy ( corporate phone ) i make a couple of test this afternoon trying to help the devs :
- ICS chinese repack, flash new ICS with mobile Odin, No boot, stock in samsung, wipe partition, wipe data wipe cache wipe dalvik. .. Phone restarts no CWM available ( strange ) . Flash CF kernel with mobile odin. Everything ok CWM back
- Over original ICS flash CM9, flash CF kernel no boot still recovery. nandroid backup of chinese leak and working as usual again.
- ICS chinese Repack, flash GB straight without changing the kernel. No boot. wipe everything. Boots normal. Restore nandroid backup to ICS no problem either.
So two possibilities I am the most lucky man in the world ( I doubt ) or the brick only affects to some phones don't ask me why. ..
If any dev wants me to run a particular test, let me know ;-)

I don't see a single reason to respond like that, but ok ... no problem with me as long as you jump with the phone
Perhaps pm chainfire and entropy.
If you are determined to brick your phone keep flashing different leaks if your counter gets to 100 we can assume your phone is immune
Fyi many of us flashed many (to many) times and got lucky but I personally will not flash another till we have confirmation of what phones are safe.

I agree with you, totally....
Tonight I installed KitKat 4.4.4 (tried 2 different 4.4.4 roms) on an i9505 which was previously running jelly bean (stock, touchwiz).
The phone network keeps disconnecting on it. If I go into wireless and networks/more/mobile networks/network operators and select my provider through there, it will connect and work fine for a while, but will then disconnect itself again randomly. The IMEI is all fine. This is the first time i've really been stuck with a problem, and i've been flashing roms on multiple phones for a long time.
Why would it be working, but keep disconnecting itself? So annoying..
Anyone able to give me some help here please? Would really be much appreciated, thanks..
Just thought....
My mate whose phone it is has gone away so I won't be able to try this until tomorrow, but maybe it's not a UK baseband on it..
I'm sure I've used basebands before though that weren't specifically for my country on other galaxy phones, but it's a good possibility do you think? I didn't think it could cause that, until now..
I can't believe I never thought of trying that at the time, I'll find out if that is the problem tomorrow.
Solved!!
For anyone experiencing the same problem...
Flash a baseband which is specifically for your country with Odin - WITH AUTO REBOOT UNCHECKED
take battery out. Boot into download mode. Flash the same baseband again. For some reason if you only flash it once and leave reboot checked it doesn't work.
Phone will boot, and you will find that the problem is fixed.
Hope this helps someone else avoid the **** that I encountered.
Thanks!

Nice to see this thread has helped a few people.
I was scratching my head for a while with that problem, and I'd consider myself pretty experienced with android and flashing ROMs.
I was searching the net, and I found forum posts of people saying they had the same problem, I even found posts that said SOLVED!!! in them, with no explanation as to how it was solved lol. Great help.
Anyways, peace all.
And 1eyedmonster, just gimme a shout if you want the one I used and I'll send you it, or pm me your gmail add, whatever..

It was this issue that has stopped me from flashing aosp and cm 11 in the past as as soon as I booted and set up my apps I would lose signal and would have to aeroplane mode on and off before I could regain signal again and the only roms that I could use was goldeneye and miuiandroid miuiandroid
Thanks to you I will probably spend the weekend flashing Mrs won't be happy [emoji12]

This is scary... Is it possible that rooting might have had an impact on the motherboard? I'm asking this because I casually test different roms and kernels and tweaks once a few days and I don't want my device to have your fate...

Extremely unlikely rooting or any kind of software modification could cause hardware to fail.
It's purely a coincidence.

Alright! So far I have been flashing things in a day more than any normal human would need : ))))
But that problem was at the time when i had stock rom not rooted. I am currently running a rooted j5 5.1.1 not upgraded to 6.0.1 and it is working perfectly fine. I also have changed the stock boot animation but nothing lags. No errors. All Ok !

Nice. I know
I don't think root coused this issue, a friend of mine got same problem and phone was stock, it started to be very hot and suddenly dead
When I turn my phone on it goes into boot loop. I tried accessing TWRP but it's not good either, it would just show the startup screen and nothing will happen. I don't know how this happened because my phone was working perfectly last night before I slept. I didn't charge my phone so when I woke up the battery was drained. So I plugged in my charger and turn it on, it'll just go into boot loop just like what I said earlier. Please help. I have read that I should flash stock through Odin, but where can I find it? Please help. Thanks!

Thanks, I actually know that I have to go to that site to download the firmware, I just needed some confirmation haha! But this here is my real (stupid-ish) question, is it possible to recover/access my data? Will it be lost after flashing?
When my device was bricked a bit times... I flashed the firmware and all my data wasn't lost it just changed the system and did not delete any data... But make sure u only flash the firmware version that was present before u bricked your device....
MOST of the times it doesn't delete any data☺

I found these thread , but it did not seem to be the same problem (I did not have a wrong MAC address). And I don't really know what exactly these modems are, and how they work. Thank you very much. You can keep your answers for other posts and save your energy, anyhow.

You are looking the wrong way. The way is flash RC4 with sptf and than change recovery to the one recommend by MAD. Than you may flash 7 to last RC.
Read well. It's all in there. Don't read just the last line. Study the thread.
Enviado do meu SM-J500FN através de Tapatalk
you somehow right but you have to work a little bit by yourself. Some ppl reflashed with SP Flash Tools the rom RC4 and problems solved after re-installing afterwards android 7.1.1 from MAD through the correct Recovery.
But other ppl claim that they just installed another modem version from the modem's thread (it is a zip file installed with TWRP).
You are the only one who can test in your device your solution.
Be brave and best luck!

Hello, thank you for your answer.
I did a backup wipe to factory reset, and I did install the last 7.1 recommended by MAD. I don't know about all those modems, what should I choose or why. And I'm not sure it is a modem related issue. Wifi does connect, but loses connection in a few seconds... I'll think about it but I probably keep the phone as it is. I don't have the expertise to correct this issue.
Thank you again.

Thanks a lot for your answer. The point is that I'm no expert at all and don't have so much time. I went back to 4.4.4, which has not worked bad for the last months, and I don't really know what I'm going to do... Stay Idle for the moment, probably.

Since you can't post on ROM thread
Due to constant flash's, or errors on flashing its possible that somehow your nvram got corrupted
The best thing to do to make sure everything is done properly is re-flashing the whole SPFT lollipop build ( choose one... Either any of the Chinese stock or the ones made by M.A.D. ,latest is the RC5)
Then updated your recovery (its on Nougat ROM FA.Q.)
And flash Nougat builds
