Get S4 to stock again - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone!
I've been tired of the google edition version of Android 4.3 and I would like to go back to TouchWiz and just use another launcher.
How exactly am I going to do that?
Right now im using this one -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348272
Having problems with shutdowns etc etc and would like to just have everything regular.
I have TELIA as operator if you wonder.
Thanks in advance/Joakim

Get stock rom from AndroidFirmwares.net or Samsung-Updates.com (or wait until Samfirmware have their stuff back up for download), flash it with Odin (How ? Search).

[Q] Flash back to uk stock rom ?

Is there any way to flash back to a uk stock ics rom on my TF101 ?
I have tried flashing a WW ICS stock rom but the market seems to detect it as being foreign . I just want to get a few uk only apps working again but have so far been unable to do so , HELP !! lol
A couple of things come to mind... Market Unlocker might be worth a try (on Android market), but it could be more simple than that. I also had an issue with my market showing US currency and I used a very simple market app to update my location settings (changing it in the device settings didn't work) although I'm still trying to track down the name of it for you.
I'm fairly new to all of this but I'm fairly sure that we are in the WW region here in the UK so there isn't a UK-specific ROM.
I got the apps i needed working by turning off all location functions and installing without using the market . Its a little strange that, despite flashing stock WW_ICS and all the prices being in pounds sterling , im still unable to find a number of apps which were there before installing revolver 4 .
Weird. Just an idea? Could it be that the apps you are looking for aren't compatible with ICS?

They still showed in the market when I got the OTA update , was only after flashing revolver 4 and then reverting back to stock that they disappeared .
Never mind though as i have everything i need working now .

Samsung Galaxy Grand Philippines

This thread is for those who own the Galaxy Grand from the Philippines.
Mine has been updated to 4.2.2 XTC. So far these are my expwriences:
1. it has better memory management.
2. battery life is about the same as 4.1.2
3. google play now recognizes some games like subway surf as compatible.
Please comment if you are from the Philippines.
Nice one... a dedicated thread...
Same here Grand owner from the PH.
Still on stock.. waiting for the right FW for phone..and unrooted...
Will be rooting soon too...there are so many mods to try
FYI the firmware marked "XTC" on sammobile and samsung-updates.com are Vietnam CSC. I have not tried the other fw. I had to root then used csc chaner app to change to sun csc. It us not reallt of utmost importance but then it is good feeling to have the proper csc.
Phil firmware is bit laggy..even i reboot my phone

did you factory reset and wipe cache after updating? You lose data and settings but you start fresh in doing so.
Right there seems to be worst lag in XTC fw. Might get back to SER Russian rom or Gennxt SER. Indian fw also showing lags according to users.
Hi guys, from Davao here. Running the INU firmware, rooted and some apps frozen via Titanium Backup.
Hi kabayans!
I might make available/share for download the "rooted deodexed zipaligned" and cwm flashable XTC 4.2.2 I cooked using kitchen. I am reluctant to do so because I may not be able to support it. I am not a dev.
What do you all think!

stock 4.2 malaysia
I'm currently using the stock malaysian 4.2. Updated using odin without wiping and factory reset. It started out fine for a week. Now, the lag is getting worse. Do someone know of a better region to choose without this lag problem?
Try the latest Russian SER update.

How are your galaxy grand doing guys? My grand has a broken usb port. It can charge but is not recognized by the pc. So i cant update nor root my galaxy grand. Im just waiting for someone to post an update or a root tutorial capable of flashing through stock recovery and not using odin and cwm. In technicalities i would rate myself 9 from 1-10.. so i pretty much know what im doing. And btw for what its worth, using the philippine update is actually ok.. all updates are fluid and good but u need to make sure first that before u update to a new firmware that your device is reset to factory default. And before you install an update, make sure to clear cache and factory reset the device first for effecient and smooth update. How i wish i could update and root my grand.. looks like i need to spend 2k-3k more just to have it fixed. But anyway, if you guys need my help, just reply to this thread.
And for faster and more efficient usage of your sd cards, make sure to use CLASS 10 SD CARDS ONLY.
BNB2 stock rom here. so far no lag issues.
for those of you who are experiencing lag on any stock rom you might wanna try this:
format /sys
format /data /media /sdcard
flash AMF7 4.1
flash BNB2(which ever stock rom you prefer)
I've been using BNB2 for less than a week now. the only issue that i've encountered is the color turning negative. i dont know if it has something to do with the rom or the system apps that i've uninstalled using nobloat app. anyways, it only happened once and the fix is just turning the screen off then on again.

Since the very first week, Grand has this screen issue, for me atleast... The screen's colors become faded... the saturation drops!! and after the BNB2 update... it started becoming negative... God know after next update what will be happening! Switching to Note 2 now

@venom621: Do you have the link for the ROMs you used? I have my grand rooted but still on stock 4.2.2. Very laggy and I would like to try your version . Is it still based from a stock ROM that can support dual SIM? Salamat ng marami (Thanks)

i just updated to this I9082XXUBNC1 >> http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9082
stock 4.1 - AMF7 4.1
again no lag issue. you can also try changing launchers. Touchwiz is really laggy on previous stock roms. Although touchwiz is pretty decent on the new rom, I still prefer nova launcher, much faster.
here is a video on the new rom(I9082XXUBNC1). nova launcher vs touchwiz
Video is a litlle bit slower while using screen recorder.

Which ROM for S5 normal user

Hi guys,
because there are so many ROMs available in the meantime, I wanna ask you for a recommendation. Right now, I am using the Stock ROM with root access. It means, I cannot update it to Lollipop.
After using this ROM for about a year now, I wanna change it to a newer one.
I do not want any customized ROM, because I am using my own launcher and I already know how to customize my design and apps and everything.
I just wanna find a very stable ROM that will work on the S5
SM-G900F
Baseband G900FXXU1ANCE
Kernel Version 3.4.0-1182732 31.3.2014
Build# KOT49H.G900FXXU1ANCE
Android 4.4.2
Thanks for your help!
Sven
First flash with odin stock (lollipop) ROM and flash root acces.
Than read all the s5 forums and check what the best one is for you.
Well, actually that was the reason why I started this thread. I want a recommendation, because there are too many ROM's available.
I do not need anything special. Just a stable ROM where I can install my Navigation app, gps tracker, and all my other apps.

Is the XtreStoLite INTL 2.2 really stable? I really need my phone for work and for traveling. I travel a lot and I rely on the phone, most of the time. I use it as a navigation system and as my office, when I am on the way.

Im using it atm...working great with no bugs for me..
I was going to say XtreSoLite. I was pretty much in your exact same situation. I really wanted a "pure android" ROM (I guess that might mean ASOP ROM, but I've never really figured out if that's what that means). Basically, was hoping for the same thing that goes on Nexus phones. But every ROM I tried that didn't have TouchWiz was just so incredibly buggy I figured the stock ROM was really the only usable option. Which was frustrating.
Then I tried XtreSoLite.
It's like the stock ROM, but you can get rid of the annoying sht that you don't want, and you have a little more control over customization, especially when you run through the Aroma add-on installer, which basically is a step by step "do you want this?", "do you want to remove this?", "would you like to replace this with this?" process.
The overall speed of the phone feels a little faster than with stock, and the battery life a little better. Both were solid to begin with.
My phone is the T-Mobile S5 (SM-G900T).
I'm running XtreSoLite 2.1 Lollipop XXU1BOC7 (I think it's the second to latest version -- I think I read some negative things about the latest one shortly after it came out, so you might want to just go for 2.1).

Can you bring the Mobile Data to the Notifications Tab?

I just updated my S4 to stock rooted Lollipop 5.0.1 from 4.4.2 and the problem is that there is no Mobile Data Toggle at all. Before when i bought it off eBay - it had it. I know this seems to be a at&t official rom thing but is there any workaround to bring it back up? I searched around but found no fix. I even tried that QuickPanel Restore thing but as it is designed for the S6, as expectd it didn't work.
I can think of 3 ways:
1. Try using this method. I used it on Kitkat and it worked great. I haven't tried it on stock Lollipop ROMs, but it might work.
Edit: After reading some posts, it seems to work just fine for many S4 users on stock rooted Lollipop rom
2. Use an app like Notification Toggle.
3. Use a custom, international base ROM. GoldenEye includes the toggles and works just like AT&T rom only faster and without AT&T bloatware included.

Yo man thanks, ill give it a shot using the first method. Funny thing is, i switched from lollipop to kitkat because of ram and now that you said it worked on kitkat for you - i got so happy lol
Edit: Yep. The first solution did! THANK YOU ALOT MAN. A simple thanks does not express my thank you towards you.
For everyone else that sees this post - The apk i dowloaded from that google repo thing kept crashing. If this happens to you -> Download SQLite Editor from here http://www.apkhere.com/app/com.speedsoftware.sqleditor
No problem! It's crazy that some carriers go through the trouble to remove a feature that was originally there

Is it possible to flash a stock Android higher than 4.3 on Straight Talk S4(SM-S975L)

Title really. Trying to help a friend who's got a Straight Talk S4 stuck on 4.3 Going to have her try and KIES up when she gets home. Doing research now. This is in efforts for her to play Pokémon GO. Lol.
I did see a few options for CM, but I fear the options may be overwhelming for her. She's definitely not a ROM - Tweaker type. More computer literate than tech-savy.
OR.
If there isn't an option for something Stock ( And she doesn't want to go with a custom ROM / bootloader )
Is it possible to spoof the system version via Xposed or something?
Thanks in advance!
