[Q] Flash back to uk stock rom ? - Eee Pad Transformer General

Is there any way to flash back to a uk stock ics rom on my TF101 ?
I have tried flashing a WW ICS stock rom but the market seems to detect it as being foreign . I just want to get a few uk only apps working again but have so far been unable to do so , HELP !! lol

A couple of things come to mind... Market Unlocker might be worth a try (on Android market), but it could be more simple than that. I also had an issue with my market showing US currency and I used a very simple market app to update my location settings (changing it in the device settings didn't work) although I'm still trying to track down the name of it for you.
I'm fairly new to all of this but I'm fairly sure that we are in the WW region here in the UK so there isn't a UK-specific ROM.

I got the apps i needed working by turning off all location functions and installing without using the market . Its a little strange that, despite flashing stock WW_ICS and all the prices being in pounds sterling , im still unable to find a number of apps which were there before installing revolver 4 .

Weird. Just an idea? Could it be that the apps you are looking for aren't compatible with ICS?

They still showed in the market when I got the OTA update , was only after flashing revolver 4 and then reverting back to stock that they disappeared .
Never mind though as i have everything i need working now .

[Q] ROMS LAGFIX etc.

I have a few questions.
I understand there are official updates for our phones 2.1->2.2 but they are operator based. So there are customized roms, that are with custom stuff.
I'm really intereseted in upgrading from 2.1 official rom to a custom, but dont know exactly which one to choose.
I once flashed a 2.2 but it bricked my phone, so i had it repaired (the phone didnt respond to any key combinations or anything at all).
So is there any point to upgrade if there isnt any stable roms.
And also why is everyone waiting for the official update from samsung when there are already 2.2 roms for 5800.
Lagfix seems like a thing to try out, but i want to be sure which rom is the best and so that the basic stuff works.
Don't know about others, but my reason for not upgrading to unofficial/custom ROMs is that I don't want to risk my phone (even if that risk may be small..)..I also don't have time to backup data, reset phone, re-install app.s, do settings again etc. which might be needed in the flashing process.
Besides, from what I read in this forum, none of the ROMs seems to be satisfactory enough & ready for prime time. But frankly, I am losing my patience fast & may soon go for a custom ROM if official upgrade doesn't arrive by end of this month..damn Samsung for taking sooo long..

Thanks for your reply, that's what i wanted to know. I was thinking the same thing that probably the custom roms arent stable enough and that the official update still aint available.
Why don't you use a stock 2.2 ROM like the JPF?

is it safe and works fine just like the default 2.1 that we have in our phones?
Sure ^^ and you cant brick your phone if you dont flash your bootloader^^ jpf also works faster^^ i would recommend to flash a custom rom. Like lestatious one. Everything works well on it^^ have fun

just dont flash the bootloader and you can always reenter download mode.
backing up isn't that big of an issue, titanium backup backs up pretty much everything.
If you're planning on using titanium, just be aware that you should only restore non android apps when switching from eclair to froyo..i tried this and kept getting fc's. Just make backups of stuff in the individual apps like contacts etc, then restore them after you upgrade to froyo. Then make a full titanium backup of everything once you have your phone the way you want it. From then on you can just test any rom you like and always have a quick easy way of getting your stuff back. I recommend using astro to backup titanium so you can have a version to hand after flashing.
P.S. I use jfp ultra clean and it rocks my socks

Ok, i might try out the stock 2.2 rom... But what about lagfixes or are they even neccessary on 2.2?
Cause my current 2.1 stock rom is really laggy, i remove tasks to clean up memory but it's still kinda slow.
Well if you're flashing a stock rom I would definately suggest JPF because it's pretty stable. You don't necessarily need the lagfix though..I personally found it made things a bit strange with random hangs when closing applications. Oh yeah and don't forget to use the modded 3d gallery from SGS Tools (I use the "last" version). You should be able to install it via the "Upgrade stock apps" option. You can also use it to change your GPS pool to Europe if needed.

So the jpf rom isnt europe or just needs some configs like that? But is the stock rom the best option, i don't neccessarily need all those extra stuff like samsung apps and layar etc. Pauri mentioned lestatious rom, its on JPA, for example. Is each one one of those stock roms like an update with still some bugs on them or just converted from other phone updates?
I'm between that custom rom and the JPF stock right now..
Oh it's a european rom, it's just that the default gps pool is set to north america. I installed The modded 3d gallery as a work around for the battery drain bug that the stock gallery has in froyo. Jpf clean is what I'm using till theres a more stable lestat rom because I tried jp9, which was good, but the bloatware...oh my..

i guess i'll take your word for it and try out the JPF
i flashed the JPF and so far so good. It's atleast twice as fast as the stock 2.1 i had. Thanks you all for help
one more question, how do i root froyo 2.2 ?
i tried the one click method, after the command running it said everything is fine you're rooted. In recovery mode i tried to install update.zip but it didnt work.
havent see any alternatives for 2.2
can anyone help?

google Maps issue after update 2.3

I have been noticing that my google maps acts a little funny but still gives me right directions. The turn by turn doesn't seem to work anymore for example; doesnt tell me when to turn and etc.. And also it always says searching for GPS at the bottom doesnt matter if im inside or outside a building, which was not like that before GB update. Any fixes?
I also had this problem , I factory reset and the problem was still there. I ended up rooting my device and getting an app called faster fix which fixes the gps problems.
I don't know if thats the way you want to go, it was the only way I got it to work properly , plus you can lose all network bloat if you have a branded device
Also I saw this which may be of interest?

I had to downgrade first and then root . This would be good enough for you to get the faster fix app , and who knows you may go custom for a while
Try this post out , it contains all the info you need on rooting , and many more things besides.

[HELP] Freezes and Reboots w/Custom Kernels

Hi there,
Ok, here is my last try to get a fix before I quit. I have a problem only related with Custom ROMs so I expose it in the Dev zone. Sorry if it is not correct.
For those who haven't follow the Perfect Recovery topic, I have one of the so called X5 Black Sheep. Initially these X5's appeared in Portugal and the synthom was stuck forever on IDEOS screen when enter in CWMv4.0.0.5 from genokolar. Finally stockwell have modified the CWMv4 with the kernel from MIUI and we can now enter in and flash the new Custom ROMs.
The thing is, my X5 keeps freezing and restarting in ALL custom ROMS. I have tried Oxygen, CM7, void and MIUI. ALL with same result. Even the ClockWorkModv4 from stockwell freezes and restarts sometimes when making or restoring backups.
I think it is something related with I/O SDcard as the reboots/freezes happens 90% when making something with it (mounting SDcard in PC through USB, or in Antutu when testing SDcard) but I have tried without SDcard and also with 3 different SDcards. All with same result.
I have absolutely no problem with Official and stock B137 ROM. Only with custom kernels (except SuperBoot from Paul fo Modaco that works 100% stable). Another example is I am absolutely stable with B137 stock but, if I put the boot.img from franciscofranco kernel for void, I can boot but again I have freezes and restarts.
What do you think the problem is? Do I have a faulty X5? Although is strange that with official kernel or SuperBoot everything works stable.
Any help, please?
I have exactly same problem!
I bought a x5 2 days ago. Catched up to the rom scene and tried to root the phone.
The phone was also stuck on ideos logo when trying to boot recovery 4.
Tried the recovery for the black sheeps and worked! Installed the rom and was amazed by the speed and usability.
Downloaded a lot of apps's and it started crashing. So I tried to remove app by app and the problem remains!
The first time it crashed I had problem turning the phone again (even after taking the battery out!).
Now sometimes crashes on standby and turns off.
Most frequently crashes during phone calls.
In one afternoon more then 8 crashes!
Tried to remove the SD card and now i'm waiting to see if the problem is solved.
So the problem is real. I must have a black sheep. And the cure for the black sheep is partially working since it must have some bugs in it..
maxusz, are you portuguese? Because I only have knowledge of Black sheeps in Portugal. At least here in xda never saw anyone complaining from any other country except Portugal, which is odd.
Regarding your problem, it is a bit different than mine. When I flash a custom ROM or put a different boot.img (except SuperBoot), I get freezes and restarts right off the boot. Sometimes I have time to complete a Antutu, but that is rare. Most of the time it hangs within 2 or 3 minutes after booting.
And, as I said, even in stockwell's CWMv4 I have freezes and restarts because it uses MIUI's kernel.
It seems that I have a different hardware from other X5's but... on the other side, I have no issue at all running B136 and B137 ROMs. I really can't understand what is the problem and I am very sad as I bought this model because it was getting a very good development community and now... I'm stuck with stock firmware.
Go to TMN and demand to change the device for a new one.. tell them that it doesn't boot.. if you are in those famous 15days after buy.. if it goes to warrantly you may not have lucky.
Or demand you money and wait for the new remittance of ideos x5, once TMN x5 is out of stock, at least at Lisbon. good luck m8
Been there, done that and I got another black sheep... I am still in that 15 days period although I don' t want to spend my life doing this until I got a normal one.
I would rather prefer to understand and fix whatever is wrong with these X5.
Sent from my u8800 using XDA App
Go there get your money back and wait for brand new X5s in a couple of weeks. Much better than waiting for ever for a working fix which might never happen, since not everyone has the same issue.
best of lucks Royal ;(
If I have to guess - and watching the differences in consistency of the product - I would say there's some difference in HW and thus missing a driver for something. unfortunately, this is just a guess that need proper investigation if this is plausible.
I might do that. I just hope that TMN have stock again very soon.
I am no dev nor programmer but I really like to know the technical difference between these models and the normal ones.

Anything I can do to check that?
Probably the easiest way to do this is find out why/when it is rebooting... noein already tried to help you, right? try to catch is attention: is examinations must be all done by now

After a restart, use an app like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer (or adb) to grab the /proc/last_kmsg file and post it here. That should help the devs to find out what is different with your phone.
I am from Portugal!
Bought mine from TMN Aveiro!
Mine also got stuck when installing recovery. I had to try differente boot.img and then the one it worked was the one for the black sheeps

Before testing I was checking and I can confirm that I do not have any file or folder inside /proc named "last_kmsg".
Any clue?
I was thinking... Could this be caused by I have upgraded to B137SP04 Official ROM and this changes anything in the system that is used by any custom kernels?! Does this makes any sense?
Because the B137SP04 is later than any custom ROMs. For example, void was first created based on FLB (I think) that was based on first B137 ROMs. SP04 came after.
Just a shot in a dark.
nope - I also cheked and couldn't find that file (unless it's hidden).

I don't think so... I had the same problem... CWM 4.0. I upgraded from TMN ROM to B137 (Czech Omitel) and afterwords I've instaled MIUI custom ROM (with CWM 3...) and upgraded to CWM 4 after stockwell update.
can't find that file either! did a search of it and it's nowhere to be found!

That's odd... Try to do an adb logcat until your phone restarts and post it here. Or you can do it directly from your phone: install the 'Terminal Emulator' app, open it and enter 'su', and then 'logcat > /data/logcat.txt' commands. Wait until your phone restarts. Then use Root Explorer or ES File Manager to grab that file (/data/logcat.txt) and post it here.
Hmm... This sounds a bit like the issue I am having with custom kernels on my X5, bought in Sweden in April or so.
I tried a couple of overclocked kernels on top of the stock ROM a while back and they all crashed my phone in less than an hour so I gave up on those. I am still on the original ROM (no OTA updates here in Sweden) and have not tried or moved to recovery v4 yet.
Which custom ports and ROMs actually work well on the black sheeps?
Need I say I am little disappointed in Huawei...

Sky Go on Milestone 2

Hello forumites. I did have a thread on the dev forum regarding this but it got deleted (don't know why?) and had little - no - response. Here's hoping this thread bears more fruit... I mean, surely I'm not the only one trying to get this app running?
Bottom line in case you don't know is that you need to use this version of the app and use OTA Voodoo Rootkeeper to hide the root before using the app (Sky has blocked rooted phones from working).
Problem No. 2 seems to be that Sky checks for custom ROMs and kernels so it is very hit and miss as to which handsets will work. So far I have tested MIUI (unsuccessful), MS2Ginger 3.0 (successful but didn't like the ROM) and stock UK GB (via santi's Nandroid backup - unsuccessful). Some guy here has managed to get the app going on a stock ROM so I'm currently flashing the SBF via RSD Lite to see if I get any more joy.
Anyone else here had a go at getting Sky Go working? If so, which ROM are you rocking?
I can assure you it works on the stock rom with Voodoo, eventhough the ROM is pants while Skygo works I will keep it!
I have a Argent3.0stone... I will try
I have MIUI, i will try too..
Managed to get it running by flashing a UK GB SBF but the stock ROM is god-awful. Anyone tried running it under CM9? I know that ICS isn't officially supported but I have heard reports of it working.
Don't use the universal de-blur script because Sky Go doesn't work anymore, only news no sport, it thinks its rooted even with voodoo :-(

[Q] Need Samsung S4 UK update for SD Card ?

I have a samsung s4 gti9505 sim free phone and its on firmware baseband version I9505XXUAMDM. Currently I rooted the stock rom and it went followed
[GUIDE] ROOT + OTA & KIES Updates + OFFICIAL Device Status (XXUBMEA) [GT-I9500/I9505
tutorial to root it. For a while it was still on official status but has now changed to custom in andorid about settings so i dont know if the newest update for the uk is released. Can anyone verify if they are from the uk and can get the sd card update. I mainly want it for the bug fixes and camera since i use folder mount.
Thanks.
Mohim
The update hasn't reached the UK yet as far as I know. Installing a custom rom based on MEA or installing stock MEA via Odin is the way to get it.
As for your custom status, purchase triangle away from the market and it will set it back to official.

Thanks I tried triangle away and it worked before when following the tutorial but now no matter which options I try it stays custom. Binary status is official though and it number of flashes is 0. I tried downloading Germany and UK stock latest firmware both worked great and I'm now back to official status. However is it possible to root the new Germany firmware?
With still keeping official status? Thanks.
Mohim.
Sorry if this is posted elsewhere... There are thousands of threads on apps and sd cards...!
Has this update hit the UK yet? I have an unrooted sim free UK i9505 but still can't move apps to my external sd card yet and I'm wondering if I've missed something. When I force a software update check it says I'm up to date.
Thanks and sorry if I'm being stupid.

Hi,

You can move apps, but you CANNOT move data.
Go the way mohim has done.
Root and use FolderMount (from the market)

I must admit, the thought of rooting, and possibly bricking, a £450 phone fills me with terror.
I'm ok for space at the moment so I'll probably hold off until I've got myself a bit more edumacated!

Hi,
Well, mine cost me 600 quid on the day of launch (yeah,I just could not wait).
It took me a good while before I did anything to it.
+ It was my first Samsung after years on HTC.
A lot of reading later, and it is not too hard to do things like rooting and recoveries etc.

Oddly enough, same here. 3 HTCs before this one. I must admit, there are a couple of things I really miss but this thing makes up for it by going like the clappers!
