I am having issues with my screen turning the correct way. It seems to want to go upside down when I place the tablet on the table and then is really hard to get to turn beck to normal. Anyone else experiencing any screen issues like this?

Nope. What do you mean by "really hard"? Does it take a long time to rotate, or do you have to do something to make it do it?

Hi all,
My phone has been acting weird recently. Whenever i access the phone app, the screen goes into landscape mode without me tilting the phone. It doesn't seem like it is able to escape the landscape mode. This is also true for the sms app. Does anyone else have the same problem, and does anyone know how to fix this. Any help would be highly appreciated.
Alex
Have you tried recalibrating the G-Sensor?
If that doesn't work you can try violently shaking the phone or give a slight knock on the sides.
Worked for my wife's iPhone. Never had the problem again after that.
I thought that the SSG3 automatically detects when you are lying down and locks into place when you're typing, say a text for instance?
If so, where is the setting for this? I know you can always lock the device, but I thought you could have it so it rotates regularly, but just not when lying down.
thanks
... anyone? Maybe I read this wrong. Thought for sure it was a feature.

that was also what i thought(maybe it was said in some reviewss)
locking the screen orientation when lying down can be achieved by face camera, just make the orientation following your face's orientation when gravity sensor state changed.
I'm not sure if I'm describing this correctly in the title so let me try and elaborate -
I've used probably 10-15 different ROMs for my Nexus 10 and lately every single one I try, I have the same issue when I have the screen titled down horizontally towards me while reading in bed ( think holding it up while lying on my back, angled down at me so I can read ), where the screen blacks out/goes to sleep.
Then I have to tilt it back so it's vertical again and sometimes it puts me at the lock screen but more often I have to hit the power button to get the lock screen back, infuriatingly I then sometimes get stuck in a loop of hitting power to get to lock screen as it's going back to lock screen so then it kills the display again so then I have to hit power again etc etc. Once the screen is back and displaying everything is fine until some random amount of time ( between 5 seconds & 5 minutes ) when the screen just goes black again - presumably when I move/adjust my position or the angle of the screen.
Anyway - I believe this is version independent, I don't think it's the ROMs, it's like it's something built-in to the OS.
The only thing I can figure is it's either related to the accelerometer detecting that I'm tilting the tablet horizontally so the screen is facing down and thus it is killing the display, OR it's the light sensor detecting a darkening of the light since I would be angling the screen away from a direct light source and so it kills the screen thinking I'm placing it face down on a table.
Possibly related - I've also noticed since 4.2.2 ( maybe coincidence ) that I can't rotate my screen 180 degrees and be able to unlock the device. No matter what, if I flip that sucker around it instantly kills the display and locks the screen. I've got auto-rotate on, so I know that's not the issue, and if I hit the power button to get the lock screen up, then unlock it INSTANTLY locks again and kills the screen. It's like there's a setting now that says I CAN rotate if I want to but there's no point because I can't actually unlock the screen to do anything. Keep in mind this ONLY happens when flipping it 180 - if it do it 90 or 270 and have it vertical there is no issue, it is literally only when it is flipped 180 that this occurs.
Am I over thinking this or is there something really, really obvious I'm missing? I've gone over every setting I can think of and the only thing remotely screen related is the sleep timer but it doesn't matter how long I make it or if I even turn it off entirely - every time I get into bed to read I have to mash the power button to get the screen going again. It's minor in the grand scheme of things but it is incredibly frustrating when all I want to do is read before going to sleep, just stay open damn it !
I hate to shameless bump this but does anyone know what I'm talking about? If I tilt my N10 past a certain degree ( I want to say it's around 30 degrees or so ) the screen just goes to sleep, how do I stop this? I've used a ton of different ROMs so it seems to be something consistent and/or a fundamental "feature" of JellyBean and/or Android in general.

If nothing else, I would say it rather "seems" to be a hardware issue, because I've never seen this behavior on my own device. That said, I can't say I've heard of many people talking about this either.

Thanks for replying! Good point - I've just assumed it wasn't something specific to MY N10 because I can't imagine why it would happen from a hardware perspective since it's never been damaged ( dropped, scuffed ) in any way. Unless I just got a bad egg with a faulty accelerometer or light sensor or something, which is also possible.
I suppose if no one else is experiencing this and it's isolated to me and is ROM independent than it must be hardware. Either that or when I'm laying in bed I generate large bursts of electromagnetic activity that cause it to think I've closed the "smart" cover. :cyclops:
Screen Timeout
I don't know if any of this matters, but I am just curious.
What is your Screen Timeout setting? Have you tried increasing this? Do you have it set to lock screen upon pressing the power button? Have you tried changing it? Do you use a pattern lock, pin code, other?

My screen timeout is set to 10 minutes, though it doesn't seem to matter what I set it to - I just set it to 30 and the same thing happens after a second of tilting it.
I have screen lock via slide, but while I do lock/kill the screen via pressing the power button I just realized I've never actually set it to do this. I guess I thought it was a built-in feature - I've just gone through all the settings I have ( currently using FlamingMonkey AOSP ROM for reference ) and I don't see any option anywhere to enable/disable this feature. :S
Maybe there is an issue with my power button and when I tilt the tablet it jiggles it enough that it "presses" down and locks?
Use ultimate rotation control from store and force the lockscreen to landscape at all times.

I think that you are on the right track. The option to lock the screen on hitting the power button is under the Security settings for stock android. It should be there for your ROM too.
I constantly hit my power button when sitting it down or picking it up. That is why I disable the instant lock option.
Randomly when I'm in a call regardless if that's skype or a regular phone call when I go to do something else on my phone it turns to a black screen and almost immediately changes back. Rinse and repeat. Can someone help me fix this issue? Thanks.

did you check in the menu Settings > Call > Turn off screen during calls?
..
How would I do that? And to the first post, it is off.
..
No need to be an asshole about it. I did look in the settings menu, obviously I couldn't find it. I've searched through the forums as well on google. Maybe I'm not seeing it but the only thing I've found is something through ABD and I'm not currently rooted.
Did you install any app that may interfere with the sensor? E.g. Smart Cover app...?
I did not.
Still having this issue. Screen flickers. Mostly on skype.
I notice this while trying to put it on my desk or one hand typing texts, it seems the auto rotate sensitivity is too high. Does anyone else have this issue? Is there some way to "turn it down" so you can turn the phone more before it auto rotates? I know I can turn it off, but I use it in Chrome and YouTube and probably couple more apps.
Thanks!

No issues here with it , guess you could set to landscape / portrait manually , few apps can do it in the play store

I've considered manually doing it, guess just being lazy. It just wants to rotate way too soon for me, it may be my posture or something causing it. Not a bad idea, maybe I can find a widget to easy swap manually.
I've noticed it too. Although I'll take that over too much lag in it rotating when I want

No doubt about that!! For me it's right on the cusp of no issues. May just need to hold the phone slightly different to correct it.
I saw Xposed was released for 6.0. Does anyone know of anything for it that would allow this sort of adjustment?

I thought Android 6.0.1 will solve it... But it didn't
Is this a hardware issue? I think not. Sensors data look fine. So I do think it is a software issue. Hoping Google will sort this out

Yeah, I think so, too. I turned off autorotation. I found I like the experience better.
I too find it too sensitive. I used Tasker to limit the rotating on all except a few apps on my last phone but I haven't done it on this phone. You just made me think of it. I can't say yet that it will work. Worth a try.
I do not want to manually set the rotation every time I want to watch a video or a picture I just taken. This is silly.
The auto rotation works great on iphones & on previous Nexus devices. The experience is important.
If only there was an app that can bias the tilt sensitivity like there are apps for brightness sensitivity

Thanks for this, I added a comment in it and voted as well. I turn the screen rotation off when needed (like for Chrome use). Always forget to turn it back on till it rotates without wanting it too.
here is a quick video I did to illustrate the issue:

I'm gonna start a thread in Help/Q&A and post a reddit article I found that solved the issue for me. Using the device with one hand it would always rotate when I reached for the far corner and was bugging the hell out of me... The solution involves Tasker.
