Each app would have it's own settings to allow or disallow this. You need to look into the settings options on each of the apps you are questioning. As far as I know there is no universal G2 option to turn off all Pop Up previews for all installed apps.

Thanks for your post, I have been looking around for last 3-4 hours but none of the apps have an option for it anywhere.
If the app doesn't have an option to configure doesn't that mean it doesn't support???
Edit: Looking everywhere and all over the net I cant believe this cant be solved by anyone, Not wanting messages to preview in the notification bar cant be something Google made permanently ON can it?
Bump, anyone?

You can always look and find different apps that offer you the options you want, the great thing about Android is the fact that you are not locked into any one thing, there are always options.

Whatsapp didn't do this on Nexus 4 or the LG G2 of my friends, which is what's so weird!!!
I think its possible I just think its something else, the notification area I just need it to show minimal notifications!
Yeah, I would call that weird now.
Bump anybody else???? Need mininised notofications here

You can give this a try - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2641557
The app hasn't been updated by the dev in ages but it still works, even with marshmallow.

I don't know if you are on MM yet but I noticed that there is a thing under App's (on MM) in settings where you can set what apps draw over e.g.. facebook chat bubbles. I think if you enable your apps that you want notifying you on lock-screen to draw over mode then it may show on lock-screen. Its working so far for my weather updates from google app... I could be entirely wrong and I am using a fairly wonky build of MM but I just thought I would offer my insight Best of luck bud.

I am not on marshmallow as yet waiting for the Ota
I'm sure MM will fix that for you bud!
I do know the struggle, waiting on OTA's for us in New Zealand is painful. On top of the fact that before I went MM I wasn't getting notifications at all, calls missed cause it wasn't bringing the call screen up...all sorts of havoc.
Worst comes to worst you could try factory restore, then do the theme thing that other guy mentioned. You should technically have a default, it's weird you are missing it.

Hello ...
I have the Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) with Android 6.0.1 from Saturday (NOT rooted ... yet). After a lot of hours searching and setup I have this "problem":
When I press the PowerButton for 2-3 seconds to show the options: Reboot/ShutDown/SafeMode it sounds the Messages notification !! How can I disable this?
Thanks in advance.
I still cannot disable it (without reset the phone)
I wonder if this notification is by default ....???
Thanks

Dunno if you can remove it without root, but you can do it with root. You find system sounds at /system/media/audio/ui. There you should find the sound file regarding power menu, then delete it and reboot and that's it.
@zavag
I try to turn it on to reproduce your problem but In my case, I can not even find out how I can turn it on.
Can you tell me...
How you activated it?
On which build are you?
@Henkate
I think it would be rather embarrassing for Samsung if you can not even personalize a notification tone without major changes to the system.
By the way, even if I do not actually think of TouchWiz. For me it's just ugly and overbloat!
I really don't know how it activated. The phone is new and ... you know ... I was searching a lot of settings in order to setup as I like. I googled it ... I found some infos but it didn't work.
On the other hand I don't want to reset (and most I don't want to root it from now) because I spent a lot of hours to set it up.

Know what you mean! I think if there is really no other way you are at minimum able to backup your settings in almost any app.
Maybe you like to inform about adb based backup solutions like declared here:
https://www.droidwiki.de/wiki/Backup/Ohne_Root
I also found a tool called Ultimate Backup on XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844032
If you don't have access to a Linux or at least Windoof computer you can maybe search for how to use adb through androids buit in Linux command shell. Don't know if there is a workaround.
But in my opinion it is already poor from Samsung if one must operate such an effort in order to turn off a notification!

I am having real problems with WhatsApp on the P8Lite. I'm on firmware B564. In short, despite the fact that WhatsApp is a protected app and it is set to "ignore optimisations", I often don't get WhatsApp push notifications until I open the app, at which point I receive a flood of them. I'm also using ForceDoze so I can edit the inactive_to setting to 10000000ms, which if I'm correct should instruct Doze not to kick in for a few hours after I stop using my phone.
Can anyone help me on this? I really don't want to roll back to Lollipop. Thanks!

Do you mean allow priority notifications? Does this override Do Not Disturb, because I don't want that.
Ive googled the hell out of LG G6 System UI Tuner, and searched all of the LG Specific forums on XDA, and came up with nothing.
Ive read that its possible to enable it on EMUI Devices, but havent found a way to enable it on the LG G6. Is this something we will have to wait until root/bootloader unlock is fully achieved, or something we can enable with ADB commands?
The main reason Id want access to the Tuner, is to disable these damned Peek/Heads Up notifications.
If the G6 is anything like the V20, LG has just removed the content of the activity altogether, which means short of recreating it in Smali, it's not going to work.
If you want, you can give my replica a shot: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-systemui-tuner-t3588675
You can edit what apps can show notifications by going to Settings>Apps and then edit each apps permissions and notifications
Sure can, but what a ballache
Is it possible through Nova launcher activities? I can access it on my htc m9 through that. I don't have a g6 yet, but looking to acquire one soon....

That's probably the closest we're gonna get until root is achieved, but it works for me.

Works like a charm, I think. I get my notifications, without a stupid annoying ass popup!!
Cant actually change the notification level of individual apps though. But everything is on the level I wanted, I think its 2, where it allows all alerts, but doesnt allow peek or full screen notification, which is what I HATE!

If you reboot, the notification level control should work. You need to tap the "A" icon to turn it off auto mode.

Not OP, but I just tried your app, and it worked exactly as expected after granting the permissions via ADB. Finally got the clutter (BT, NFC, Alarm) hidden from my status bar. The only thing I noticed was that after reboot, the Bluetooth toggle reset to on, but the icon was still hidden (reseting blacklist restored it). I didn't try playing with the other options.

I should be uploading a build within the next hour that'll fix your problem. The method I was using was ignoring the first item in the blacklist string (ie the first switch you used).
I really can't understand why companies like LG find it necessary to remove these things...I mean, it's not like it's a feature that can confuse some people (which is the only good reason I've heard for this type of thing) cuz this is pretty hidden to begin with.

I can't figure it out either. I decompiled the V20 System UI and saw that they'd basically just removed all the code from the Tuner activity, like a second thought.
Nvm i got it to work. Just cant get rid of that battery icon it seems,. darn it
The app helped me as well, though I couldn't get it to hide the WiFi Calling indicator. Also, I'd love for a way to get a battery icon with the numbers inside the battery...wtf my first ever android phone from 2011 had that as an option, the heck LG?

I am also using the stock messaging app and don't have "chatbots". Unless you are referring to the Network Messages, where it's a message to a small phone number. Are they grouped under 1 thing, then you can see all of the different one's? Facebook has this kind of visual setting, I'm not sure if this if what you are referring to though.

I downloaded Package Manager: App info, APK Analyze & backup by Sarangal
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sarangal.packagemanager&hl=en_US
In that app you should be able to "share" and fire it into an e-mail to yourself then onto xda, or possibly google cloud, or do a back up and manually pull it off the phone.
I'm sure there are other package managers that can do the same as well.

That looks like the Google messaging app not the default OnePlus messaging app. At least when I downloaded it that what it's showing up as and when clicking "view in play store" it goes to the Google messaging app. Either way I'm not able to install it as it's failing. I'll mess with it a little more possible tomorrow. Thank for trying!
