Time picker in the Calendar app - Nexus 5 Themes and Apps

I love the circular time picker in the calendar application. It is so much faster and easier to enter the time for an appointment. I hadn't noticed this for a while as I usually enter appointments on a PC.

Excellent comment, this definitely needed its own entire thread. Kudos OP.

Looking for a nice home screen calendar widget

As the title says really.
I have downloaded loads off the market place but all fall short.
I need a 4x1 widget that will display from my Exchange calendar and show my next couple of appointments.
The built in one seems to have a mind of it's own and gets confused when I have all day appointments/
I have found Smooth Calendar which is as close as I have found so far but it is clunky and slow.
Any suggestions?
i need one too i really miss the mini calendar view of sense ui!
Pure calendar is the best I found.

Have you tried Jorte?
ik like calwidget
i use jorte with no problems. tried it?
Jorte = No 4 x 1 option - Shame as it looks quite nice
Cal Widget = For some reason when in 4x1 mode it chops the last line of text short but besides that, looks OK (not sure if it any better than Smooth Calendar though)
Pure Calendar - Not tried that as it's a paid for app and so far I have resited the urge to pay for stuff on this phone.
there is always warez
Actually I realized there was a transparency option in Cal Widget so now it still chops off the bottom line but doesn't look as bad.
I am going to leave this on my home screen for a few days and see how it plays out.
Try Calendar pad Pro....
Try "android agenda widget"
I warmly recommand "Pure calendar" for the quality of the application and the skills of the dev. He is also working on an API to make scrollable widget, wich is essential for a calendar application.
If you don't want to spend 0.99Euros ( close to 1 dollar) for such a perfect application, you may try "Android agenda widget" that is free and the developer is really responsive and come with a lot of good stuff. I also suggest to donate because that worth.
Try to use gemini calendar. This is realy good calendar replacement and have simple widget.

I had the same criteria and after days of search I discovered the smooth calendar widget
It's 1 by 4, highly customizable (eg what calendars to display etc) and not cluttered with redundant skinning.
I already place two of the widgets for each my calendars...just because it's wicked.
+1 for Pure Calendar
I know you said you'd prefer a free app but this has many customisable features, with widget sizes to accommodate most screen layouts. It also has support for displaying Tasks (Astrid or GTasks).
Personally, this would be in my top 3 essentials apps.
I use Jorte, and it has both 4x1 and 1x4. The 4x1 is called 4x1 Horizontal.

Very nice recommendation, Smooth Calendar Widget totally suit my needs and it feels lightweight.
So is pure calander better then smooth calander? I need a widget that is bigger and shows more events

It's a real pitty that Jorte does not work with Exchange.
Does anyone know of anything similar for exchange? Ideally I am looking for two separate widgets, 1 for an agenda list and another for a month grid view that unlike the HTC Sense Widget actually shows you details of the appointments on the days (like Jorte).
Any suggestions.
love launcher pro plus widget

Calendar Widgets

Any good calendar Widgets that display your upcoming events similar to the sense based Widgets?

smooth calendar
I've tried most of them. My favorites are:
Free - Android Agenda Widget
Paid - Pure Calendar Widget
Pure Calendar Widget I think is the best but it cost a couple dollars.

I have also tried them all. I prefer Simple Calendar Widget for the next appointment view and then Launcher Pro for the agenda view.

Pure Calendar Widget
I like business calendar cause it reminds me of the Sense calendar widget, which was my favorite of all the calendar widgets.
I am using Pure Calendar Widget, because it integrates with Got To Do, which is now defunct.
another +1 for smooth calendar here!
I was going through many different Widgets for various tasks. And then I tried launcher. It cut 10mb off my ram usage, also adds resisable Widgets (standard aswel), has a nice calander widget (I specifically bought it for this) and ads some sick customization. It is very stable too. Please note that this app completely replaces the stock launcher, and so will not even be cached on startup. There is a free version to try, but it is minus the Widgets you seek, but does have screen shots of them (in app). Sory if this seems off topic, but its just another consideration to take in with all the other very helpful suggestions.

Dunno about the HTC calendar but I'm using Android Agenda Widget which is very customizable, integrates with Astrid and GTasks (which in turn integrated with Google Tasks) and also displays your contacts birthdays.
It doesn't look very fancy but it works well!
Pure Calendar Widget vs Smooth Calendar
I just switched to Smooth Calendar from Pure Calendar. Pure Calendar is very functional and looks good unless you switch back and forth between landscape and portrait on your home screen. Regardless of the settings, in landscape Pure's widget gets horribly pinched and is not pleasant. I like Smooth because I really only want a good looking agenda widget; I prefer using the native calendar app for creation and editing.
On a side note, I really liked SPB Shell's calendar widget. Although the widget took an entire pane, it had both a good looking calendar and agenda. Ultimately, I uninstalled in favor of the better usability of ADW Launcher.
I like Android Agenda Widget.
1) Launcher Pro - built in
2) Colorize
3) Pure Calendar

good calendar widget

I am looking for a good simple calendar widget for my A500. I use launcher pro plus on my phone and I love the calendar widget on lpp but I don't want to use it on my tablet. Does anyone know of a simple but large calendar? The widget I need has to be at least 5x5 (ideally 7x7 or 8x8) and able to sync with my Google calendar. I don't mind paying a buck or two for it. I tried a few already but most of them look bad when resized to fit my screen. Can anyone help? Thanks
i use wizz and it's a ver good calendar widget.there is a widget for greader, Facebook, twitter....etc etc.
I reccomend Business Calendar app. Clean and functional.

I tried Business Calendar app, and i LOVE it, however, when the widget is resized, it becomes blurry. using the actual app though, it looks amazing. but i cant use the blurry widget, it really bothers me.
currently, i am using this widget, but it is only 4x4 on my homescreen. i was hoping i could find one kind of like it that looks good when resized to 8x8
Take a look at Jorte Calendar, I am using it on my A500, it is a claendar app with widgets and it syncs with Google Calendar or the Jorte calendar. Will show either or, I used it with Google as I want to be the same on the laptop, phone, & tab.
I have a full month on the screen and I think it is 5x5 and there are other sizes too.
On my phone I have always used and liked Business Calendar but on the tab it just didn't make good use of the real estate available.

Yotaphone 2 wishlist

Let's hear your wishes for features for the yotaphone 2 in particular panels, apps and uses for the EPD, let's hope the developers at Yotaphone are monitoring this forum and take some ideas from us.
Here's mine for starters.
1. Notifications.
A Yota panel that acts as a Notification centre for all the notifications other than calls, emails and sms. The present system of getting you to flip over the phone is clunky and the weakest part of the whole experience. I would like to select which apps send notifications to the panel and then scroll, swipe and select them from the EPD as the appear. An Android wear compatable panel could be awesome.
2. Browser
A search bar yotapanel, like the google now one on the main home screen, this would open to an EPD optimised Web browser.
3. Some system toggle short cuts.
A panel where you can select system stuff E.g bluetooth on/off, airplane mode on/off, silent/buzz/normal volume toggle.....etc.
Sent from my GT-N8010 using XDA Premium HD app
Good idea for a thread.
Notification wise I love the sms and phone part of it, the other 2 are nice but I agree. They could be much better integrated. If yota could get the panels to integrate the mirror function on the notification widget bit, or just allow for customised assignment of apps to the email and notification app then it would be a bit less annoying.
Something like htc's blinkfeed or the flow home launcher (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.larvalabs.flow&hl=en_GB) would be good - a hub for general notifications, social media, rss feeds and whatnot.
Also agree that an EPD optimised browser would be nice, something basic and clean.
A settings panel would be excellent, I don't really use the music or book one, settings would be a nice function and a good way to keep use localised to the EPD if needed.
Need a few more options for the big panels, don't really use the reader or music player panels as I tend to use kindle app for reading and music player wise I listen to a lot of audio books and find that skipping back and forth is quicker using normal display.
Some more half page panels could be nice too, like a calculator and /or unit converter.
One thing i really miss so far is the clock alarm widget for Yota panel.

Just FYI, there is an EPD optimised browser, there is just no easy way to launch it. You can launch it by either clicking on twitter/rss links, or by launching chrome on the normal display and then holding the home button and selecting the place where YotaMirror usually is (the yota mirror icon will be replaced with some weird arrow icon).
Yes there is an easier way to launch the optimised browser - you just need to add apps launcher widget on yota panel and add chrome shortcut to it.

Apps are starting to appear in the app store, if you search the store with "Yotaphone" some third party stuff is showing up, there is a great currency converter with a Yota panel widget for the EPD and a couple of e readers and even Office Suite (says Yotaphone optimised)
There's stuff that doesn't mention Yotaphone in the notes so why they come up I don't know, anyway stuff us starting to appear which is great

If you're using the big analogue clock which covers half the screen, then the digital time will show in 12 or 24 hour format below the clock hands according to system settings.
Thanks for help. Looks ok:thumbup:

I find it quite clumsy to switch to Yotamirror (unlocking the back screen, press and hold home, select mirror). Should be possible with a gesture or doubletap on statusbar or something.

I just released a small widget which addresses these suggestions/issues. Behold, the Yota Toolbelt!

dual clock and +1 added to numbers on some received calls

I have recently switched from HTC 10 to S10+ on ATT.
I have so far two major concerns:
- I can't find automatic dual time traveling clock on S10+ or weather clock widget with dual time traveling clock like HTC offers, where the phone displays Home and current time and weather respectively
- the phone adds +1 to numbers of some received international calls. It is impossible to modify the number in Recents and call back
I would appreciate input on that.
If you go to clock in app menu, is there not four options at the bottom, alarm, world clock, stopwatch & timer, world clock has two different time zones, you could do a dual clock widget, not sure about weather tbh...

Thank you, but this works, if you want to find out what time is now at certain location. I am looking for an automated actual location picker for the current location and Home time simultaneously. The widget is supposed to tell you what time and weather is a location you land as well as at your Home. It is nicely done on HTC phones.

You may have to use two widgets of the same app to achieve your goal. One widget from the same app use current time zone and the 2nd widget of the same app use another time zone.
