I don't want the pulse news app to update because of its ui change which I didn't like. So I want to keep using the older version 3.2 , I have a titanium backup of that version. I have the auto update enabled for apps in the play store settings but disabled for the pulse but sometimes it still updates and I have to restore the backup. I'm looking for a way to remove the pulse app from showing up in the installed app list in the play store , I tried detaching the app from play store using titanium backup but it still comes back after a day or two. Is there any other way to stop the app from showing up in the play store - my appp - installed apps and never update in the future?

Well, my response is first and foremost. Don't fight change.. If developers change the UI. They do so with a reason.
Now as a possible solution for your "problem", have you tried removing it in the playstore and then just installing the apk you backed up. Not through titanium backup, but through a filemanager. And then use titanium backup to remove a playstore link.

Well , the app went from useful to useless so I really don't have much choice. I have tried the method you suggested before but initially the app won't be seen in the play store but after two or three days it used to come back and sometimes update itself as I have auto update enabled for the apps. I was thinking of doing some minor modification that would make it impossible for the play store to find and link it to the app in the play store but I only have the thought, don't know any ways to do it.
I had the same initial reaction tot he update. Large tiles for stories, white back ground making the text almost unreadable. I found that in the settings you can reduce the tile size and the text and use a dark theme which made it usable again. Just a though if all else fails.
Disable auto-update in PlayStore settings.
Note: It will enable auto-update every time PlayStore is reinstalled

Hackergnome is spot on. From the pick it looks like all you need to do is ignore it. Update apps one at a time. At the moment they are all being updated for kitkat and ART. Some are buggy after and its taking multiple updates to sort them out. You probably will need to update at some time when dalvic goes. By then they will be sorted out.

Dark mode and those settings are little breeze but I didn't liked ios type interface with all list at top and the removal of left side quick panel .above all these feeds are not loading up a lot of the time.all such little quirks made me go back.

That's an option but then I will have to update all other apps individually. Now when I have the auto update in play store enabled and auto update for pulse news disabled , only problem is that the pulse news keeps showing that update in the play store and sometimes shows a notification in the notification bar. The pulse won't update when I press the update all when there are other updates instead it shows a warning that the auto update for pulse is off and if I want to update it or not.So the approach is quite functional.

That's true, it's just an annoyance that I have to deal with but I thought titanium backup will be able to solve it with the detach the link from market option but from my experience it's not that useful at this moment, it detached the app but I think play store finds that within a day or two and fixes it and I will find that out when i see an update for pulse news. Then I have to restore the old backup and continue with that annoyance.

I found this app called appguard by srt , it is mostly used to monitor the activities of an app and to find if it's using any unnecessary permissions , and it provides option to disable the permissions, more like the app ops but one little feature it has is that when you put an app to be monitored , it will be detached from the play store and future updates are shown inside the appguard. So I just added the pulse to be monitored and now my problems are solved but not that happy that I had to install an another app to take care of such a small thing. I'm thinking of finding a way to change the signature of the app or make some modification so that play store can't link it to its original app in the play store.
If I don't want to update any one of the apps, what I do is, I run update all, and cancel the update download for that app.

i am getting frequent force closes. anyone else experiencing it?
Anyone have the APK? I wanna push it to system/app. It won't install from the market for me (and I've already removed the old one, but not the launcher as instructed elsewhere).
Yeah, it's actually useful now! It's basically a big simplified configurable launcher now, which is good for car use, although I still don't get why they desaturate the icons, makes them hard to see. That's exactly what you don't want driving!
Anywho, so you can move icons around, add shortcuts, etc... And when you hit the home button it returns back to Car Home.. so makes it easy for me to put Waze, Gasbuddy, GeOrg etc all in the same place without poking through the launcher to do it.
We'll see how the "auto run on bluetooth" thing works I suppose, but there's that feature. So far I don't see my phone automatically connect to my BT GPS so not sure it'll automatically do anything here, but we'll see. None the less, seems like it might be useful now, wasn't before IMO.
This happens on my Nexus One with Android 2.2.1 stock (FRG83) when I use the QR code from the post above: I get a dialog telling me: "Not found: The requested item could not be found".
When I search on the market with the phrase "car home", I don't see any application from Google.
I'm located in Germany, maybe that is a problem?
To get it to install correctly on CM6...
Uninstall the Google Car Home app via Titanium Backup (I had 2 in Titanium Backup and uninstalled both)
Reboot
Install from Market
Open the Gapps zip file (mine was in /sdcard/clockworkmod/download/mirror.kanged.net/gapps/gapps-hdpi-20100817-signed.zip) with Root Explorer (or similar) and extract the CarHomeLauncher.apk
Install CarHomeLauncher.apk from wherever you extracted it (mine was /sdcard/extracted/)
Enjoy!!!
if you have the google dock you dont need to add the launcher back into it
this is a very nice update. 4 screens to create shortcuts and i think it fixed a problem i was running into with using voice search, i had to speak very loudly when it was docked in the google car dock. it didnt seem like it would pick up my voice very well and now it does. i like how now when its docked it gives you the option when you "exit car dock" it lets you switch back to it from the notification bar. also love being able to access the android menu from the settings now. used to have to close out of the car home completely before.
Thx for the info. It works now. How about street view. I uninstalled it using titanium cuz when I tried downloading from the market it would fail at installation.
Your help is greatly appreciate.

Um, so I take some of it back.. the Automatic screen mode is no more than the current Auto screen, I was hoping it would be um... More for car?? Based on assumed sunlight, not the ambient sensor. So I still have to adjust the brightness in Tasker for navigation.
And the subued icons are just suck, they blend into the background too much.
Hi all. My question is at the bottom if you want to skip the rant.
Maybe this might help someone in someway. For those experiencing lag that just want a solution, or for those who want to find why this happen maybe they can replicate the problem.
So these are the things I did that I think caused the problem.
1st) load the 32gig internal to almost full... I think it was down to about 900mb of free space.
2nd) I delete a few empty folders like the "video" and "Music" folders. I am not 100% if there were any hidden file cause mine is not root to be able to see those hidden files.
so after all this, N10 was running very slow. Even displaying the HOME SCREEN was lagging. I thought maybe that 900mb is too low, so I started to delete my files. But despite having 14gig of free space, it still lag. All the app takes about 30sec to 1min to load, including chrome browser and android Setting. Shutdown the tablet and boot it back up still didn't fix the problem.
After many search on here, nobody seem to have a solution for this. The lag was too much, time for backup and reset.
Backup time wasn't easy either. I wanted to copy all folders and files to my PC (USB cable connection), but with the select all it started to copy and stop along the way. No err msg, the copy just stop like it's done but I see not all folders were copied. Had to do manual copy. Just copy things I THINK are important. Especially the device ID that I learned from my dead A500.
And I made screen shot of my app list. Titanium refuse to backup without root.
The reset took about 5mins. After seeing the dead android icon hundreds of time on my A500, I was afraid but the android icon on this N10 reset kept going and so was the status bar below it. All was done and N10 is like new again. SUPER FAST....but empty. Use my screen shots as guide to reinstall all the apps I want and skip the one I no longer want. Disable many bloat-wares.
Disabled apps
===================
Gmail - I hate the conversation view but can't disable. Use the Email app instead.
Google Korean keyboard - I don't know Korean maybe I'll learn later.. haha
Google Pinyin
Google play Magazines
Google+
Hangouts
iWnn IME
iWnnIME Keyboard (White)
Keep
Movie Studio
TalkBack
Wallet
App that I add and find very useful are
=================
Android Weather - the widget is very well displayed and can resize on the screen.
ASTRO File Manager - Luv the app but need to find a way to turn off the "Recent open"
Battery Monitor Widget - Luv the app and the widget too can be customize to display exactly what I want
Best Screen Filter - I prefer an app that can invert the color for night time reading.. is there such an app?
BSPlayer FREE - play all the video format, I luv the VLC on PC but the one for Android is not as good. This BS come closer
Power Toggles - awesome widget. :victory:
QuickPic - Love how it doesn't crop the thumbnail to square. But I notice when deleting pics it's much slower than the OEM Gallery app.
Volume in Notification - exactly what it said... instead of using the physical button which at times I have no idea in which corner to look for it.
==================================
==================================
Now finally for my question. My N10 is awesome right now, anyway I can CLONE this so if I have problems in the future I can wipe it clean and put back this CLONE in this PERFECT state? :good:
Any recommendation to improve things also appreciated....... like make it easier to read at night.
PS: sorry for the long rant.

Hi,
First of all, the low memory issue already happened to me, I also backed up and then formatted it, it was one of the best things I ever done to it IMHO . I installed CM11 and now it's booting in ≈20sec and it's faster than ever.
For the lag in the launcher I recommend installing a third party one. I'm using NOVA launcher and it never disappointed me. Also I personally like some other apps over the ones you are using. So I think I'll share it too, as you may find it useful .
ASTRO --> FX File Manager
BSPlayer Free --> MX Video Player
QuickPic --> Google+ Photos / Stock Gallery App

Now for your question!! If you don't mind unlocking the bootloader, you can flash a recovery like TWRP and backup your device system, data, etc. Also you will be able to easily factory reset and clear cache (it's also a great thing to do when your device is too slow).
For the widgets you can backup it with NOVA Launcher .

What does it do and how long for it to do it with 14gig of free space to free? I thought there might be something managing memory in the back so I let it sit for more than 2 days, still lag.
How much is little free space anyway?
XxLordxX did give some ways to backup my current setup, but I want a simple "clone" way instead of all these backup and reinstall. Is there such a way as clone?

With the mods to Google play services on my G3 I was able to increase my battery longevity by a significant amount. This thread is to guide and discuss as to which "services" could be disabled inside the Google play services app using "3Ctoolbox". Disabling certain services prevents Ggoogle play service from running in the background, thus, saving battery.
As a reminder, some of the services can still run after disabling them and even cause a large amount of wakelocks. To solve this, please disable the corresponding tasks in Activities, Providers, and Receivers. For example: disabling update.SystemUpdateService in the Services tab will not disable the service completely, so you must navigate to Receivers tab and disable everything that is related to it there.
Lastly, think ahead while disabling services. If you play games and use "games" app to sync them, then you should not disable anything that deals with games. Same applies to other services.
Update 5/30/15: Google play services version 7.5... here is the list of what services can be safely disabled. Perform at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damages.

If you're going to create a thread to discuss what changes can be made that are helpful and not harmful and have made such changes, would you mind discussing the changes you made in the thread you made for that purpose?
It's not quite a disabling of a service but all I've done with play services is disable location, keep awake, and wake up through app ops. No downsides that I've noticed yet.

well, if you are a ok google user, then there are downsides. if you disable location services, you wont get any info like "traffic home" or "traffic to work"(for example). if you dont use ok google, then disabling locations wont affect you to much.

I didn't notice any. It could help by lowering the amount of RAM that is being used, but i think this would be in very extreme cases where all the RAM is used. With the way the phone is made, it has more than enough performance in stock form. Disabling services is primarily for battery longevity.

You need full root. Download the app suggested in the first post. Scroll left once you open it, find "application manager", make sure at the bottom it says" system", click on the "apps" on the top bar, scroll to Google play service and click open then details, next scroll right and select services from the top bar.
After doing that, GPS and location stopped working. It cannot stablish my location. Even after enabling all Location services, it still not working.
Restart the phone. None of the things that are disabled in my list will affect the GPS

Found a neat little glitch for QuickCircle users today.
I did this on CloudyG3 2.2, but I reckon this should work on all the Stock Lollipop roms.
Flashed a modified LGAlarmClock.apk for the modified Quick Circle clock faces, 8Watches.zip from this thread. Well, it kind of messed up and didn't work, so I messed up and wiped the data and cache to the wrong app, LGSmartCover (Settings>Apps>All>LGSmartCover).
It seems that wiping the data and cache to SmartCover unticks "Settings" under Settings>Accessory>QuickCircle Case>Select Apps, which allows us to actually use 6 QuickCircle apps instead of 5 + Settings.
After doing this, the only way to change the clock face is to use the app Activity Launcher and make a shortcut from All Activities>Clock>Settings and place its icon on the home screen in a location that you can touch it while the QuickCircle case is closed. When you close the case, there's about a half a second delay before the QuickCircle becomes active and you can still touch stuff on the home screen, it's in that split second that you have to tap the shortcut to Clock Settings and you'll be taken to the clock face menu. Don't do it fast enough and you'll be taken to Settings>Accessory>QuickCircle Case.
WARNING:
Nothing I've done has been able to restore the tick mark to Settings. The one thing I didn't do was make Titanium Backups of these apps before doing all this. I figured a backup of the modified apk was good enough....didn't think wiping some app data would untick an unusable tick box...

I have that installed and it's one of my favorite apps, Thank You for that, but what I'm talking about is completely removing the Settings icon from the QuickCircle screen. I haven't found the option to disable/remove Settings from the QuickCircle screen in your app.
When the data/cache are wiped from LGCover, it removes the tick mark for Settings when selecting what 6 QuickCircle apps you want to use, see my screenshots above to see both the bugged Select apps screen as well as the QuickCircle screen without the Settings icon.
After that's done, the only way to access changing Clock Faces is to run the Select Apps Activity right when the case closes because Settings is unusable at this point.
If you could make it, a new way to access Settings from QuickCircle would be awesome. That way we could just wipe LGCover and rely on QuickCircle Apps to change clock faces rather than the hacky method I'm using after doing this (close the case and run the activity real fast). It uses the Clock>Settings activity if you use the app Activity Launcher.
Since you're here, I have a typo for you -- Quick Calculator is spelled "Quick calculator" in the Select apps menu...not a big deal, just letting you know.....I could probably file a bug report or submit a pull request for that, but it's a single letter capitalization typo....

I do have it. Go to my app, choose modules, and it is on the first page there.

I have no idea how I missed that setting being there...seriously...that snake must have bit me 20 times before I noticed it...
But after doing what I did, that option doesn't work and produces a cyan colored warning box that says "Error".
It seems that wiping data and cache for LGCover breaks that option for Quick Apps.
If you want, I can give you some logs of the error happening.

I wonder if it's because I'm on LP or if it's because I wiped settings away...oh well, it's not that big of a deal since I have a work around.
Unrelated, but the music widget is so bright at 1 am when all the lights are off.

It was tested on LP only
I suspect most of us have seen the issue with 'missing notifications' on Honor / Huawei devices. When you add an app to the protected apps list, make sure the various battery and startup optimisations are disabled, do everything you can... still the system seems to shut the app down and notifications don't happen.
Why? I don't think anyone knows yet.
The problem seems to be mitigated in some cases by moving the app manually to the /system partition, but this doesn't always work I don't think - for example Hangouts sometimes misses notifications for me and that's a system app. There's another nuance too - why do some apps not appear in the protected apps list (e.g. gmail)? That's not technically any different to Hangouts... is there a whitelist in the ROM somewhere?
Now I have my custom ROMs and deodexed ROMs, I'm going to be having a good poke around so hopefully we can fix this once and for all for all Honor / Huawei devices, but it would be super useful for anyone to contribute their findings so we can try and establish a pattern of behaviour while I look for clues.
Cheers all.

PS: Topic also mirrored here at MoDaCo
Hi Paul, very nice to see how much you contribute to Honor 7 community...
Your topic is on-point, just wanted to start thread alike.
Yes, from very quick research these problems are common to all? Huawei, not only H7
Anyway I am a newbie to my H7 and a novice at EMUI, I am also not even a hobbyist programmer. But will try to help.
ps. could you look here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66407836&postcount=6
I had similiar thoughts on, this time - Google, not EMUI 'whitelist' - Ignore optimisations
The Google settings don't accept notifications generally, and the problems - which I've seen on all Huawei and Honor devices - aren't limited to Marshmallow.

I had a problem with Tasker continuously being killed in Lollipop even though I marked it as a protected app, but I found that the issue only occurred if I used the "Smart" Power Plan, since switching the "Performance" plan the issue appears to have been resolved. I now see the same issue with Whatsapp on MM and have again selected the same plan to see if that solves the issue also

So I'm making some good progress digging around with this. I've had some interesting feedback suggesting that this is less of a problem in 'Performance' mode than 'Smart', but it is still an issue. Interested to hear thoughts on that.
App closure behaviour seems to be managed in 3 places on device...
in Marshmallow doze (this obviously isn't the cause of our issues)
in HwPowerGenieEngine3 (com.huawei.powergenie)
In HwSystemManager (com.huawei.systemmanager), also known as the 'Phone Manager' app
Sure enough, disabling the latter 2 packages seems to make notifications work 100%, but there are other things hooked into the Phone Manager app, so disabling it completely is a bit of a blunt instrument, it'll be better to try and tweak the behaviour, which is what I'm looking at now.
If anyone has clear*notification issues they can replicate and there*use to help me test fixes, please post below.

google hangouts, almost always fail to receive notification.
Small question for everyone having notification problems. When you look into the "automatic launch records" menu in Phone Manager, are these Apps with problems listed as restricted or as allowed? Aquamail and WhatsApp are working fine for me even with smart Power plan

unable to install it on my honor 7.
Which android version are you running?
I am now on the final version of Android 6 and my notifications are finally working flawless. (I got a EU Honor 7 running PLK-L01C432B330 - EMUI 4.0)
I'm still having reports of issues in B330. Especially in the 'Smart' power mode.

After 330 Update I got some problems, especially with WhatsApp. After checking auto start menu I recognized WhatsApp autostart was disabled and aquamail was not listed in this menu, I activated both before. Both were listed as restricted in the records menu. So they wanted to work but system blocked them. I turned it back on and aqua got the menu back after reinstall.
Which autostart menu? Screenshot please?

anyone can upload apk? i can't download from play store.
So I've made some changes on the Honor 7 to these power optimisations with a view to sorting this out. You can test in the latest release of MoDaCo Custom ROM (r4.1).

I will try pm plus upload later, you can also try to download it from aptoide store.
After installing PM PLUS and it's two plugins start the Phone Manager, swipe to the right, open APP AUTO LAUNCH and you can see the apps with their permissions. By clicking the clock symbol located right top you can see the past recorded launchs and if they were restricted or allowed.
Sry for bad english
I find that I keep notifications active on those particular apps by clicking on the square for the running apps, and then pulling down on the window of that app, which will highlight a lock above it, that way it is never closed. Survives a reboot as well. In other words the opposite of sliding up to close the app.
