Has anyone gotten the multi-user working correctly? I'm able to add additional users, but I can't switch between them -- the "faces" don't show up on the lockscreen.
I checked around the lockscreen settings, but I couldn't see anything obvious to enable this function. Any ideas?

No kidding? That's interesting.
Don't suppose there's a setting to turn them on in portrait mode, is there?
I don't know about anyone else, but this is my first MIUI phone.
I thought it would be useful to start a thread regarding MIUI notes/tips/etc that are specific to MIUI.
The first big one of course - how to fix push notifications:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/bensin/...ions-on-xiaomis-miui-8-for-real/#11f834174e1b
I was about to start this very thread
I found a cool feature
You can select several photos for deleting by simply gliding your fingers over the photos
Another cool feature
You can orient that device do that it's upside
The top bezel-less becomes downwards.
The phone is also programmed to rotate it to the standard orientation during a phone call because of Mic location.
One thing I quite like is how specific WIFI connects can be disabled without having to remove them.
Our work WIFI blocks certain things, so it's nice to be able to disable it but not have
to totally remove it (and then reenter all the passwords when I re-enter it).

For each WIFI connection, there is a little > to the right of it.
If you touch that you go into another menu, and one option is 'auto connect on/off'.
Turning off autoconnect helps in situations where there are multiple WIFI signals, but you only want it autoconnecting to a specific one.

2 finger swipe on notifications displays their details (or what is called Peek)

Thanks for clarifying.
What if I'm in the range of two networks that I've saved the passwords for.
Which does the mi mix connect to when I enter range?
Looks like the last one I've connected to.

That's actually a primitive way of doing it.
Samsung did it better by letting you 'peek' one-handedly with a simple swipe down of the notification.
With mi mix, I have to use two hands. I can do it with one hand but it's tough.

And just found out, we can't "swipe away" the notifications from the lockscreen directly. Need to pull down the shade and clear from there. Would this not be considered a stupid decision?!

Perhaps there's a solution if you root/install Xposed & a module is available for lockscreen options.
I'm rooted, but, haven't used Xposed in ages, considering trying it again......
On Samsung devices,(non-root) Ad Blocking apps have a persistent notification on the lockscreen that cannot be swiped away,.The only remedy for this was to turn off the ad blocking.

Open Downloads app, Triple Dot, Settings, Set unlimited download limit for mobile. This resolves that issue.
TQ very much for that tip

I followed all the steps.
I understood that there are several instances of settings and installed apps.
I went through all of them but still could not disable or uninstall pre-loaded apps like Mi Credit, Mi Cloud and all those Mi nonsense apps.

Those are uninstallable I guess (as Mi earns from these apps and not selling the phone), few rubbish were uninstalled using this method.
I should be able to disable them though
Apparently not
Some more MIUI notes:
menu + volume down = screenshot
hardware test: dial *#*#6484#*#*
More phone info: dial *#*#4636#*#*
There is a toggle to disable the navigation buttons (double tap them to re-enable)
handy if you keep accidentally hitting them.
in 'buttons' can auto disable for any particular app (games)
In accessibility there is a magnification mode - triple tap to allow/disable zooming of screen. (EDIT: it's bugged - it isn't supposed to trigger during keyboard typing, but it does, effectively making it useless)
wake with volume buttons is in lockscreen menu, not "button"
There are some apps that just won't stay uninstalled. Anyone got idea how to remove them? PPTV for example

Hi,
I'm trying to enable the comfort view with Tasker.
Does anybody know how to do that?

You'd probably have better luck asking over at the Tasker Forum.

I used a java code action to set the reader_mode_enable to a 0/1 value. It works well.

Could you please give a quick walkthrough on how to add this code in tasker? I have an LG V20 and would like to set comfort view to turn on at 10pm and turn off at 7am everyday.
Thanks!
Thank you, I've been trying to figure this out as well. I head set a task for the AOD, so it was easy to modify for comfort view. I attached the XML export from tasker. Change the parameter in the second step to 0 to turn off.

So I used this xml to create an on and off profile and set it to a schedule in tasker. However, sometimes the off profile toggles the comfort view off, but the screen is still the same color.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Also, Why would you have this setting and not be able to schedule it. LG needs to fix this, along with the ability to adjust screen brightness without having to turn off the auto brightness option ( I can do it on an LG V20, why not the G6??!).

I don't use it often, although I obviously have it set up in tasker, never got around to creating a task. I don't think I ever saw it not turn off though.

Just figured a way out using shell commands. Works beautifully. This does require root though - just so you know.
Here is a great site on using shell commands http://www.notenoughtech.com/tasker/tasker-run-shell-commands/
The setting you want is "reader_mode_enable" It takes a 0 or a 1, 1 being enabled and 0 disabled. The command you want to use is:
settings put system reader_mode_enable 1
That will turn it on. In Tasker you need to add an action Code>Run Shell and then use that Shell command and make sure "Use Root" is checked. Hope this helps the next person searching this information out!

So a quick addition to this. The screen must be on for this to work. Use Secure Settings app or possibly one of the Auto tools apps to trigger the screen to pop on just before the shell command runs.

Is there an option on the LG G6 to make app scaling to full screen 18.9 the default for all new apps?
Each time I install a new app I need to manually go in the app scaling settings and change it to 18.9. I would like the install to do this by default.
There aren't many apps that seem to do anything different with this setting, but I want to try them all to see, and hope that some of them will make a difference.
News360 looks pretty nice in full screen reading.
Thanks!

Thanks, but by "secret menu", do you mean the "developer options" settings menu? I have it activatesd, but I don't see any SVC menu? Or is there another secret menu I don't know about and that I need to activate?
Thanks.
Open "Phone", dial this *#546368#*870#, go to SVC Menu, at the end there is "Force Long Display Mode", turn it ON. Reboot and enjoy.

No, i mean the secret menu, not the developer options, you can access to it by dialing *#546368#*870#
If you don't have an'H870 you have to change those digits with the ones of your model.

Thanks.... while I am at it, different topic, but is there a way to customize the "do not disturb" option so that when I have the phone in "do not disturb" on a schedule, it would be silent but still vibrate? The settings don't give that option.
I don't want to have to manually set my phone to vibrate mode. Instead I want my "do not disturb" schedule to be a "vibrate mode" schedule.
Thanks,

I don't think there is such option, maybe try to find an app that do so
Is there a way to do this? In short, I want my ringtone lower and my notifications higher. Is there a magisk module or something for this on OOS? Thanks!
I know using Tasker you can set them separately but I am not sure if the setting will stick.

No i dont think u can do that with tasker if the OS is not supporting. If you know a way that we can do this in Tasker in OOS can u please share it. It would be a great help.
Like I said, you can set them separately but I don't know if the setting sticks. I can't test this as I am in the office currently.
Check my screenshot, you can add the action to set each one.

thanx for the link :good: I've tried it, unfortunately won't support our mobile's alert slider...my phone will ring even when switched to mute and yes, i've checked all the necessary permissions and settings...
Oh, I don't use the slider, so it isn't an issue. I just use the silent tile and nightly quiet schedule when needed. Slider is a cool feature, but I just got used to never using one on any phone and rely on the other method to silent the phone.
Just odd how there is no separate ring/notification like their used to be. Guess Samsung and maybe others people complain about this lack of obvious feature.
