Got it at & t forgot to put texting on my plan during the phone swap

Apps from 1 phone 2 other

Okay me and my fiance have the same phones sgx hower mine I bought from uk its the 8gb, and she bought hers from optus its the 16gb.
Now there are 2 issues here:
# I updated my phone n her phone using the same computer. Except I updated mine last week and hers just b4. I noticed we both have now different versions.
The australian one is running DTJG3
The uk one the 8gb is running XXJM1
Why is that? Is it normal any difference?
## Now coz of the firmware upgrade her phone lost all the Apps n txt sms. And my uk phone still has all the apps. So is there a way to transfer apps from my phone to her phone.
Sorry about the long story.
Thanks for any help.

Use Titanium Backup for backing up apps on your phone and restoring them on hers.
If you want to transfer sms messages from yours to hers (can't imagine why you'd want to do that though), use SMS Backup & Restore (by Ritesh Sahu).
Edit: Actually I think using appbrain.com to install the same apps you have on her phone would make the task much easier.

using Astro file you can even email the apk file from one phone to another phone

[Q] Default Messaging App will not work

First I hope Im posting this in the right place, second Im not a regular in this forum as I have another device, however I need some assistance. My girlfirend has the Droid 2 and yesterday stated experiencing an issue with the default messaging app. It will only allow her to type in 1 word and then stops functioning. I thought maybe pull the battery and it goes away. But shes done that and the issue is still there, so then Im thinking that maybe she somehow got a virus? I ran a virus scan with Lookout (it was already installed) and it didnt come up with anything. I cant seem to convince her to use another SMS app just to try because she refuses to download anything else, she's stubborn and just wants the default app to work. Do any of you have any ideas? Shes talking about doing a factory reset which Im not sure it will help and she isnt rooted (Yet) and does not have Titanium Backup on the device. Im open to some ideas before she does that reset and loses her apps and what not...Thanks in advance!!

Messaging Pop-Up - Not showing up anymore

So i just noticed that with the stock LG messaging application i am not getting the pop-up quick reply. I'm assuming it has something to do with something i froze in titanium backup however instead of going through each one one by one and going through a bunch of test text messages to figure it out i'm turning to the community.
Does anyone know which service allows the pop-up to happen?
Thanks!
I don't always get it, either. Seems to only pop up if I'm on my home screen. Been meaning to ask a few friends to text me back so I can test it out.
That's how it is suppose to work, however that has stopped working for me hence the post

Well I unfroze everything & still not working dyes I have the option set to yes. Only things I've done is flash stock browser and installed an old apk of Google Talk as I didn't like Hangouts.
I think maybe something with the Google Talk install did it. Looks like I'll have to restore to a backup.

Mine stopped working as well. Did everyone here install GMD Auto Hide?
i used TWRP to do a factory wipe and it fixed it. Restored my backup and wasn't there. Yes i installed gmd auto hide.
I think GMD is breaking the pop up. Oh well.. I rather not have those ugly software buttons than have the message pop up.

(Q) Why can't I send or receive Emojis :'(

I currently have had the SPH-720 for a month now, bought the blue one during the BB deal over the holidays...anyways. Been flashing ROMS back and forth and currently on Sacs ROM. Now I've spent DAYS Googling and search forums all over for help on this and I keep getting the same answer. My wife recently ditched the android life and got an iPhone and every time she sends me emojis or vice versa none of them show up on my phone. I can see what emojis I send but she just gets the black diamond with the question mark and I get them on my phone when she replies with emojis. Here are ALL the procedures I've been thru to get it to work on my end cause I'm assuming it's my phone. I've download ChompSms, Handcent, GoSms, Textra and all the emoji plug-ins to get them to work and I still get the same error of diamonds. I've even tried installing the DroidSansFallBack.tff font and fallback.xml whatever and changed the permissions and NOTHING. Can anybody tell me what I should do? Tried all the latest AOSP ROMs and nothing as well, I thought it was a error with Sprint with sending MMS over WiFi but that doesn't apply with the 3rd party apps so I've heard.
Not a Noob when it comes to android phones so if it's anything "complicated" any input is appreciated.
Edit: BTW I use Kii keyboard as my default and have tried KK keyboard as well but still getting the same error

Re flash sacs newest 4.3 rom and choose emojis in aroma installer with a keyword , I like note3 keyboard. ..no need for chomp sms...or try looking in settings in input and control and check iWnn ime

I've tried that numerous times, wiped constantly and flashed 5.0-5.4 of sacs Rom, one of them my emojis worked but after I updated to like 5.3 I think I lost all my emojis. I can view them on Facebook, twitter, and IG but when use them in a text they don't show up.

I use the stock Samsung keyboard and have no issues. I hold down the voice to text key them scroll over to emoji.
Ryan does it show like this? Are you on mk2?
Hold on mic symbol then the happy face

I have the option to pull up emojis on my stock keyboard, and have iwinnime installed but I still get the same problem. Checked it out on my moms s3 last night and she gets emojis fine but I'm like WTF..I'm lost. Here are pics between my wife's iPhone and me using the stock TW messaging app and go SMS. Now I can type emojis using keyboards and any 3rd party messaging app but she all she receives is the error of diamonds in question marks. I'm currently on MJA apparently and I'm ready to wipe the device completely, return to stock and install mk2... Idk if it will help but I'm crossing my fingers.

You need be on 4.3 part of new update is emojis. .. just install sacs new rom then new firmware from unknownforce thread WITHOUT the new Knox bootloader

*sigh* i'm at a lost lol, ok let me explain what i currently just did. so i used the STOCK rooted MJA Rom found on here cuz that was my current baseband at the moment this all was happened and i mentioned updating it to mk2 which i just did thru odin. So now I'm on the current mk2 baseband stock and rooted thru odin and philz recovery....I grabbed my office's ipad and loaded hangouts on there cuz that was the quickest way i could access at IOS at the time. I send a message from my s4 with emoji's on the default keyboard...via hold mic and select smileys....what do you know THE EMOJIs go thru on hangouts fine via message. So I had one of my friends with a iPhone send me emojis via sms. And here goes the Bullish** with the diamonds and question marks. I'm at A LOST!!!! I wanna install sacs latest but if I can't get the problem fixed on stock what is a custom ROM gonna do for me.

I pulled my hair out with this too. Do you use Google Voice with your Sprint number? If so, Google somehow screws up the emojis when they handle the data. I think the other features make Voice worthwhile, so I still use it with my GS4.
My wife has a Note 3 and was using Voice and had the exact symptoms you are. We removed Voice from her Sprint account (don't just delete the app, you need to remove it from your account...see Google), and the emojis immediately began to work fine.
You might not be a Voice user, but I wanted to put this here in case someone finds this down the road.
Lol it's funny that you replied to this @nobody291 . i came across the information this morning about this google voice problem and TA-DA!!! i disabled my sprint number and can now see Emojis again.

What are you missing without Root?

I thought I would start a thread and find out what people have missed not having root. What I was also thinking is that maybe some of these things could be achieved some other way but I just don't know how and others might.
1. Titanium backup. Not only could you backup applications you could freeze and uninstall any apps. I hate that I can't uninstall bloatware.
2. Would love to be able to long press the volume keys to skip tracks like with xposed
3. Xposed.
4. Clearing Cache (Delvik and Cache)
5. Full backup in TWRP
6. The annoying warning when listening to music too loud. Get rid of that!
I'm sure I have missed a bunch but those are the ones that I miss the most.
Adaway!!! And roms, I'm a flashoholic... Wifi hotspot... Reading xda for new dev news...

There is a free app in the Playstore that works without root to change tracks with the screen off. It's called Smart Pocket - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartvibration

Titianium is my #1 missed program and the reason I started rooting my devices in the first place! Second to that I miss the "hold back to kill" feature and also call recording. Most apps are getting better at being able to save progress or data to the could or to the SD card, but not all. Once root is achieved, I will do it just to get TiBu working again!
For me since i was able to get tethering working i am not missing anything. if/when sprint takes it away i will be sad. Actually i am kinda of relieved that this phone has to stay stock and i can't modify it. I was a flash once or twice a day some times kinda of guy before and i was alway frustrated with how unstable Android would get when flashing that much. With the power this phone has it does not need most of the things we needed with the s4 or note's. by far the best phone i have had, It will be tough to give it up when the s8 comes out next year (since i am on the galaxy for life plan) but im sure i will swap it out, unless they pull another s6 and take the sd card away again.
CM based roms.
Full control of phone, ie being able to force phone into roaming. (Im actually having a roaming data issue that I cant troubleshoot unless Im in a roaming area and thats usually when Im driving so its impossible to troubleshoot).
TiBu and backups
Bloatware removal
General troubleshooting ability
I have been tempted to go back to my fully modded and custom GS4 several times now but havent yet reached the breaking point.

Thanks, I'll look into that one. Usually the non-rom based ones require the phone to be on speakerphone to record. Perhaps things have changed though.
Just tried it out and it won't work. It only records my side of the conversation and not the other end. Oh well
My primary reason to root in the past, other than bloatware removal and the hotspot mod, was an app requiring root that I have run on my last 6 phones, going back to the original Epic 4G. It's called "Call Master" (by "Fahrbot") and it is one of the most complex apps I've ever used, besides some of the Wanam apps/plugins. It's the most comprehensive call blocking app as far as I know, and that's why it requires root, to hook into the phone's services in order to catch/answer/hang-up any call from any number that is not in my contact list. It prevents non-contacts/unknown/restricted/private numbers from even ringing my phone, let alone leaving me a voicemail. They just hear dead air when they dial my number. In effect, it is a "white-list" call blocking *root-only* app, and I I simply can't live without it. The built in so-called "blocking" settings of the S7E seems to send callers to voicemail, which defeats the whole point. That's call rejection, not call blocking, right?
I REALLY NEED A SOLUTION FOR THIS!! Spam calls driving me nuts and getting a VM means they register it as a known active cell#.
Does anyone out there know of a non-root call blocker app that has a white-list function, AND will truly block/hangup instead of just rejecting calls? So glad you created this thread OP. Some of the solutions given in response to what people are missing without root are things I already know I'll try out.

Got this app up and running, but the feature called "stranger call blocking" would need to enabled to act as a true white-list blocker. The app says that feature requires "app upgrade" but I can't find anywhere in the app to purchase a key/license, despite the Play Store page's reference to in-app purchases...

Go to the developers page in the play store and it should be there. I think the "premium" version has a different name for some reason.

Geez, I'd miss a lot of important calls if I blocked any number not in my contacts. Businesses including doctor's office, frequently show a different outgoing number than the number they give you to call. People I know who use a different number than normal. My wife once left her phone somewhere, and a stranger found it and called me (my number was on her lock screen). It would have been gone forever if I blocked all unknown numbers.
