First I hope Im posting this in the right place, second Im not a regular in this forum as I have another device, however I need some assistance. My girlfirend has the Droid 2 and yesterday stated experiencing an issue with the default messaging app. It will only allow her to type in 1 word and then stops functioning. I thought maybe pull the battery and it goes away. But shes done that and the issue is still there, so then Im thinking that maybe she somehow got a virus? I ran a virus scan with Lookout (it was already installed) and it didnt come up with anything. I cant seem to convince her to use another SMS app just to try because she refuses to download anything else, she's stubborn and just wants the default app to work. Do any of you have any ideas? Shes talking about doing a factory reset which Im not sure it will help and she isnt rooted (Yet) and does not have Titanium Backup on the device. Im open to some ideas before she does that reset and loses her apps and what not...Thanks in advance!!

Hi. I've had my aria for a couple of weeks and I downloaded a task manager. But I soon realized that AT&T Navigator opens up every time I receive a SMS. Is there a way to stop it from opening? Thanks in advance.
That's weird. Root it and get rid of that crap. In all seriousness someone smarter than I can probably help you.

Root, flash a new rom, and don't ever use a task manager again.

The best thing I found for this is a program called Autostarts (in the market for a few cents). You have to be rooted, but even on the stock ROM (if you don't want to switch) you can go in and stop programs from running at certain instances. I could never figure it out either, but AT&T Navigator is set to open every time you send or receive a text. Be careful if you do use Autostarts though, you can do some damage if you don't watch what you're doing.
Just in case you decide to jump ship and flash a different ROM, here's the APK for Navigator. Sometimes I prefer it over Google.
hope you can help
got a problem with my phone, the cardock app keeps loading itself every so often its really annoying it can be ever 10 seconds or every 5mins someone suggested that my microusb port may be damaged.
anyone know of a way around this? is there app's or anything else i can remove, to stop this auto launching?
i thought about removing the dock.apk before installing the next rom flash anyone with experience in this?
nobody experience this?

+1. It could also just be some dirt in the contacts, not damage.
Sent from The App that Time Forgot.
I had a similar problem when I flashed my first ROM, went away when I tried a different one but not with the original ROM (arhd 6.1.1 I think) strange....like the guys said probably fluff or something, may have been released when plugged in to the computer or something
never mind
my parents put an app on my phone to monitor my texts and calls. it also blocks me from running any apps once they are installed without my dad unblocking them. the app is my mobile watchdog and it auto starts on boot. i cannot get into the settings because they are blocked. i need a way to remove the permission to start on boot. so i can still start it if i need to by opening the app. i have tried a lot of things to bypass it. i may seem sneaky but would you want your parents watching every single little thing you did on your phone?
I apologise of this is not the case, but I assume your parents pay for your phone.Simplest way to remove the monitoring is to buy your own phone.

it can easily be disabled/removed. I dont like the fact that your parents are doing that crap but at the same time I am not going to provide a solution.
I suggest either dealing directly with your parents for being turds or get your own phone. What they going to say when they go to check on you and it the app is gone.....?

Lets continue on this thread instead of Development since it does not contribute to the community in that aspect.
Gonna need more info:
App name?
Rooted?
Recovery?
Also, if they monitor your texts and calls, don't you think they'd notice that you've suddenly stopped calling and texting? What happens when they send you a test message to see if it shows up on their end? Gotta think in advance of the moves they would take.
And I agree with albundy.....take it up with them first. Be reasonable or else you may not have a phone to monitor at all.
A better question is why did they put it there in the first place.

Hey guys
I rooted my MF3 SG4 and froze a ton of that garbage bloatware but nothing I didnt find on safe lists on XDA.
Also pre this root around I actually did brick the phone pretty good but was able to Odin my way out with the newly released files.
some reason though my SMS doesnt work. I never noticed becasue I use Voxer and Google Voice but for some reason I checked and its totally not working in either hangouts or the messaging app.
any idea why
ATT, still on stock rom of course
Got it at & t forgot to put texting on my plan during the phone swap

I had this on my old Z1, and now I have a note 4 and it's on it as well... Every few days I get a pop-up on my phone with a Chinese word (screen shot will be added), and despite all my efforts with anti-virus / anti-malware apps, it persists. I found nothing on it online... I used Google translate to try to make sense of this pop-up, all it says is " 堰" which translates into "weir". I used es file Explorer to search my entire phone for that Chinese word, it came up with nothing. I deleted all apps that I thought were suspicious, and still nothing. Could someone help me with this? It's driving me insane. Thank you.
Could it be an app that you had both on your z1 and have it on your new device as well? How about doing a factory reset and then if your problem persists? The only logical course I can think of is to install your apps incrementally and seeing when this starts again. Also, try to keep unknown sources and verify apps on under security. Hope that leads you in the right direction.
I've deleted almost all third party apps, did a factory reset, even flashed a new ROM from sammobile... It still happens. This problem started when I put my old memory card from my Z1 on the note 4. But I've switched it for a new one, and flashed the new ROM after that (and wiped data, and cache), and still no luck. I'm beginning to think it may have been a virus that implants itself to system files or something... I'm a noob though, I need some developer brain power for this
It could be a message from your SIM card or network.

Yes I agree with Jimmyness. Go get a new SIM card, assuming you moved the SIM from your old phone. You've changed everything else.
Alright, I'll give it a shot and let you guys know... Thanks

To see which app this pop-up message is belong to, try the following:
install Shortcut Master app > Menu > Capture Shortcut.
That shortcut master app... I'm not sure exactly what it's supposed to do.

What service provider are you using? Does this happen after a factory reset before you add your Google account? In thinking you are letting an app install after you reset.

It captures the shortcut of the popup shown on the screen.
That way you will know which app that popup is belong to.
