Its easy to control the LED status of all HTC phones, its also possible to poll the Wifi signal strenght.
3 years ago I used to have an HP with a useful blinking orange light whthat turns to green once a network is found and connected.
Unfortunately with nowadays phones (universal) we can only know if Wifi is either on or off... now bare with me for a second.. If its possible to develop an application that blinks the green wlan light of the universal at a fast pace or constant when the signal is high, slower pace when the signal is low and normal blink when there is no network connection.. would be great.
I'm posting this thread while I'm driving in my car using a bt keyboard..
If someone can develop a similar application or maybe I put myself together and develop something similar it would surely be a great feature.
Looking forward for your ideas.
Is there a way to disable the blinking green coverage light without disabling ALL lights on the device? All the registry hacks I found will disable both the Coverage and the Bluetooth status lights.
I just want the thing to stop blinking 24x7.

LEDKiller

LEDKiller works great on the Mogul. The blinking light was going to drive me crazy. It doesn't disable the other LEDs or the vibrate.
I prefer to see my screen without annoying blinking light pollution around it, can the beaconing LED indicators such as when on Wi-Fi etc be turned off? -Thanks
I don't know about when Wi-Fi is on, but go to Settings>Sound&Display>Notification Flash
From there you can turn off the flash for everything else.

Cool sounds hopeful, thanks, if you or anyone gets a chance to confirm that works for Wi-Fi as well please reply back as I don't have one yet.. (only played with one on launch day for >2 hrs in a Sprint store with no Wi-Fi)
I'm gonna say that Wi-Fi doesn't have an LED notification because I just connected at work, and no blinky.

Thanks Jye75, maybe the blinky is a pet peeve of mine but I really find it annoying-wasteful, now if only the weak Wi-Fi reception issue would be officially addressed..
The LED is only used to indicate charging status, low battery, or notifications (txt, e-mail, missed call, voicemail, etc.). It's pretty unobtrusive too, not very bright at all since it sits behind the earphone grill... You'd probably miss it easily if the phone was sitting flat on it's back on an elevated surface ('specially w/a case w/a wide lip like the silicon skins).
Phone was running fine and I loved it, but hated how the bottom lights would stay on as long as my screen. It's annoying at nights so I downloaded this mod to fix the backlights to only show for 10 seconds instead of it following my phone's display timeout. Ever since then, the signal in the notification bar has been wacky. I used to have full Wi-Fi and at least 2 bars of signal. Now the phone shows only 1 bar of Wi-Fi and no bars for signal, yet I can still send out messages and etc. Anyone know the problem?
tl;dr - fascinate running dj05 wanted to change the backlight settings to 10 seconds with mod. Now signal bars are always low, but everything works fine. Just want my signal to show how much I have normally. Thanks in advance.
On my brothers a500 the wifi bars on the notification bar keep randomly turning white. Does anyone know a reason for this or a fix?
Sent from my Motorola Xoom
IIRC, the white wifi bars usually means it's connected but not getting any data. This is normal if the device has been snoozing and should fix itself in a few seconds.
