Just an FYI I had my front camera fail. Took it in and the service tech says "he only took the battery out and back in" and the screen wouldn't recognize your finger anymore but would recognize the pen. Anyway, I have replaced.

Yesterday, my note 3 made a fall from a slip in my hand, and now, there's a little crack at the top left on the screen. The screen is not turning on, and I think it is no more registering touches.
Amazingly enough, the glass protector does not have any scratch, but I can clearly see small crack in the LCD behind.
The sound is working fine.
I have already opened the case and have unplugged and re-plugged the connections, still no change.
My question: I want to confirm whether the screen and digitizer have been damaged. Any ideas/ advise on how to confirm this ?
Basically, I want to go ahead and buy a screen and digitizer replacement and perform the change, and I didnt want to invest on something which might not be needed.
Please provide your help and views guys.
Thanking you all.
Screen fixed. Camera issue
Just to post an update.
I had ordered a screen and digitizer for my N9005. Yesterday, with a rather fast shipping, it got delivered.
I carried out the swap, ie, removed all sensors, camera, vibrator, mainboard from my existing and transfer to the new screen/digitizer.
All went okay, screen, touch, all sensors, front cam.
Just that my rear (main) camera shows some artifacts on the image - on the camera screen and the photo taken. See attached.
It seems like it is showing some piece of glass fractured or scattered. Any help on how to proceed from here ?
I was trying to remove the middle plate (where the outer lens is found), so see whether this lens is broken, but as per my tests, I see that the phone refuses to power on once this plate is removed.
Info: The photo attached is when I pointed my camera to shoot over a white wall.
Any help is welcome, please.

I have replaced the screen, LCD and frame on my VS980 due to dead sections of the screen. There were no problems swapping everything over to the new frame. The phone seemed to be working perfectly until I went into a dark room. When I am in a room with little to no light knock on does not work and if I press the power button the screen times out while I am swiping the home screen. Which component will cause this problem? I double checked each piece before reassembly and everything appeared to be properly installed.
Have you tried the motion sensor calibration? For me i press the power and volume down button quickly and it unlocks. Have you update the touch firmware?
I did the motion sensor calibration and it didn't help. the dialer codes I have found for the vs980 don't get me into the service menu.
I dont know for sure but i think its the hardware problem as in replacing the new LCD and all, but ya that be expensive to buy new ones just after buying a new one. If it still have warranty maybe replacing it perhaps. If the service menu dont work, i dunno.
Your proximity sensor may not be plugged in all the way.
How does the phone work while making a call?
Test it first. If the screen stays on during a call while the phone is held to your face, open it back up and double check all connections.
Unplug and replug the screen, digitizer connections, selfie cam and proxy sensor connections then test again.
The proximity sensor which is top left when looking at the front display. Smush and/or rub with your finger, then try to unlock again. I have to do this frequently.

I've recently had to replace my LCD for the S5. I'm not entirely sure if this is an installation error or the dimensions of the phone screen I received are off but my front camera displays black and I see 3/4 of the notification light. It's obviously being blocked by the screen itself. Is basically my only option to have a front camera is to replace the phone screen? which is more difficult than replacing the entire LCD. What would you do in this situation?
I've searched a good bit and wasn't able to find any information regarding the exact problem I'm having.
Bought a used G6 for starters
No water damage indicated by the sticker
The phone works great on the home screen and app drawer
I turned on dev mode to show touches
When you're in the camera it will stop responding to touches, you can still take pictures using the side buttons. The screen will become responsive again after a couple minutes. This whole time you can take pictures and the screen is functioning just not responding to touch
This happens also when you're loading web pages, even a Google search the screen will stop responding to touch and then eventually start responding again for a short while till you load another page or start moving around the page too quickly it seems. However again the screen is functioning, video previews are playing, just no response to touch.
Loading a game like Asphalt 8 the phone doesn't respond to touches until a couple minutes after the game has been fully loaded.
Even after a hard reset/factory reset the screen will sometimes be unresponsive upon the initial welcome/setup screen and then it will become responsive and you can go through the whole setup without an issue.
Any insight? Any suggestions? If I can't figure it out I'll just get rid of it but it's in great condition a shame it just doesn't function properly.
Thanks in advance!
Looks like some sort of hardware issue...
But before you start to worry...
This might sound like a stupid question but have you tried cleaning your screen with some cleaning solutions?
Sometimes dust mixed with dried sweat can cause severe touch responsiveness issues even if the screen looks like it's clean.
This is an older thread, but maybe I can help someone.
I replaced a touchscreen on a LG G6 and saw that the touchscreen did not work if the back cover was not mounted correctly and the data transfer between the phone and the fingerprint sensor was interrupted. This may be a common problem for users because the connector is small and the back cover is attached with a double-sided tape nearby this connector. It seems that the touch screen is disabled by the phone software without the back cover.

Thank you so much for this comment!
My gf phone had problems lagging and becoming insensitive to touch, the problem got worse and worse, almost never responding anymore. Performed a factory reset etc, didn't help.
After reading your comment I tried pushing on the back cover while swiping. Now I'm able to revive the phone after pushing hard on the top and bottom left corners, of the back cover.
Thanks a mille !
Lg g6 has back panel from glass and under it you have contact for fingerprint sensor.Somehow if the back panel is loose it can cause touch fail, and you cant use the device touch function!
--->FIX:
So you will have to turn screen off using back button, and then try to press back glass on left and right side of the camera lens !
Then simultaneously press the power button and try to use the touch .
If it does not work tru again around camera lens and turn off screen each time you press the back glass!
For me it worked !
Recently my front camera got a crack in it, I decided to replace it with a new front camera. After placing the new front camera and plugging in the flex cable I started the device and the camera apps won't start. I have tried testing the camera using the hardware test *#0*# and for both the front and back camera I get an error message reading "The number of cameras is 0"
I have tried replugging the flex cable for the front camera, I lifted the motherboard to replug the flex cable for the back camera in case it came unplugged in the repair process but have had no luck so far getting the cameras to work. Everything else on the device works perfectly except the front and back camera and the iris scanner.
Any help would be appreciated.

is your problem solved?
how?
Unfortunately I was never able to solve this problem and no longer use the S8. I hope you manage to solve it, best of luck.
