[Q] Verizon G2 Stuck in Bootloop - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Everyone, just got my G2 today and already have a problem. So naturally the first thing I did was root it, and after a few hours researching the nuances of doing that on a VZW model I got that to work. Next I went and downloaded Titanium and moved my backup files onto the phone, and restored my apps no problem. Then I went to restore my system info (just call logs, sms/mms, bluetooth pairings) and rebooted the phone only to get stuck in a bootloop (the VZW animation would just play over and over.) So I powered off the phone thinking something just went wrong with the reboot. When I went to turn it back on I started to get worried...
No matter what key combo I pressed I could not get the phone to power on. I decided to plug it in and thankfully it did come back on, but once again went into the bootloop. So I did some researching and tried every way to reflash the stock VZW firmware, but nothing has worked. I tried the KDZ method mentioned here, but I cannot get the B2CAppSetup.exe program to install (looks like LG has moved or revoked access to csmg.lgmobile.com:9002). So I moved to this post, but I cannot get the LG Flash Tool to start the flashing (when as instructed I unplug the phone and restart it in download mode again and plug it back in the Flash Tool just says "Waiting for Connection" and doesn't do anything.)
At this point I am out of ideas. I have a feeling that since I cannot even power the phone on unless its connected to USB/Power Adapter something is seriously wrong, but I have no idea what Titanium could have restored to cause this.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did the same thing myself and nearly crapped myself. Here's how I got out of it:
Power down the phone (hold down power button)
Turn on phone by holding power & volume down buttons
When the LG screen comes up, let go of the buttons and then hold them down again
You should then get options to factory reset.
I will say this, I was never able to restore SMS or call logs from Titanium. Doing a few factory resets just made me stop caring.

Thanks for the reply, however no matter what key combo I press I cannot get the phone to power on unless it is plugged into USB/Power Adapter so I cannot get into the stock recovery app.
Any other ideas guys?

This happened to me while flashing as well.
You have to keep trying, the timing of exactly when to release the buttons and press them again is very precise, meaning you don't have much time at all.
It took me several tries to get it back to recovery.
I also only released just the power button, not both,
Good Luck!

Where you able to power your phone up by just pressing the power button (without it connected to anything)? That's what keeps throwing me off about this whole thing, without connecting it to something no matter what button(s) I press the phone simply will not do anything.

When you plug in the device via USB and hold the vol+key you should get the same prompt for a factory reset...

So I tried TWRP but ADB could not see the phone. As a last resort I tried the TOT restore method on the computer that I used to root it initially and it actually went through. Once 10B was restored it finally booted back up and OTA'd 11A and I was able to re-root it after that.
Lesson learned, next time I will not try to recover the phone using a difference laptop then I rooted it on.
Thanks for the help and suggestions guys!

[Q] Royally Screw... Stuck in Fastbook (VZW model) Please Help!

First off, I searched for someone with a similar problem and couldn't find anyone in the same situation.... Also, I'm very familiar with the root/flashy/etc. process coming from a GNex
So I rooted the G2, no problem at all (before OTA). Trouble came when I tried to flash recovery. I couldn't get it to do so, but I was following a guide that stated I needed to perform the OTA before flashing TWRP.
So I finally accepted the OTA and when I did, see first pic, it clearly asked if I wanted to perform a factory reset, I accepted. Then I get dumped into Fastboot, see second pic, and I cannot get out of Fastboot at all. In addition to that, when I plug it up via USB, it won't recognize the phone at all either.
Verizon of course said I was good to take the phone back and have it replaced, but thanks to the "tell tell" message on the Factory Reset option, check first pic - top left corner, they can clearly see it's rooted and will likely not replace it, and I'm out a ton of money.....
Are there any ideas out there as to how I can recover anything????
Thanks in advance!
You not the only one! I think the recovery partition may have got corrupted from a bad CWM flash file. I get the same black screen, fast boot bull****... phone still works at least lol.
You can always flash back to stock with the lg mobile suite, got me out of a bootloop. It should fix recovery partition I would hope

Where do I go to get that?
Or is there anyway I can actually make the phone connect to my computer via USB so that I can hopefully use the Verizon Upgrade Assistant?
I used the LG mobile support tool found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
follow the steps, after the top right of that program will have drop down with "recovery update" or something to do a full restore.
I hope you can get into download mode for this, power +volume up
Good Luck!

Thanks for the thought, however that thread is assuming you have ADB access which I cannot get my computer to recognize my phone while it's in fastboot through ADB....
Downer I have a day old phone and I may have to go ahead and make an insurance claim against because I'm not paying $549 for a new one...
Or is there a way I can completely bork this so it doesn't even get to the Factory Reset option, or at least so it won't show Rooted, so I can just take it back to VZW haha???
Hold the volume up and while holding, plug in USB. Should put it in download mode. If adb then can recognize, reinstall the recovery. If not, hold the power and volume down until it starts to reboot, when you see the LG logo, let go and immediately repress them and hold until it asks you to push the power button to reset phone. When you do reset, it will actually take you to the twrp recovery.
VZW LG G2
So if u can get into download mode use the lg moble softwear to restore it.adb is not required for that

OTA Bootloop Help

I have a Verizon LG G2 I tried to flash my backed up stock recovery with Flashify so I could flash the most recent OTA. After accepting the OTA update my phone restarted, tried to install the update, hung at a black screen but was still turned on. If I power it off and back on it shows the LG logo, some white text, then goes to the same black screen. What appears to be happening is that my backup recovery did not restore properly and it's hanging when it tries to go into recovery. It's almost like my recovery partition is blank.
I've tried to follow the instructions to flash back to stock, but I do not believe I'm actually able to get my phone into download mode. When it is plugged into my windows 7 computer with the LG drivers installed it shows up in device manager as QHSUSB_BULK.
Is there any way for me to push a stock recovery, or even a custom recovery to my phone so I can somehow salvage it, or am I permanently bricked?

Ive looked through a lot too. and its crazy how that would happen i made sure it was rebooting correctly before i took the ota and then when i did the ota bam! only screens i can get to come up are the hardware key control mode and the factory hard reset which both go to white screens after I do them both. every one else probably has not taken the ota.

One difference in what mine is doing and what your phone is doing. I go to a solid black screen not a white screen. It's very hard to tell my phone is even turned on. I'm having to look if the back-light to verify if it's on or not. I can hold my power button for 10 seconds through one LG logo cycle and then it turns off.

I hope someone helps us out. I really cant afford a new one because the warranty is void. I was going back to stock because of all of the little bugs that need to be ironed out in roms. cause kit kat is around the corner hopefully and my problem virtually is the same i might have had my brightness on auto or something prior to that.

Ignore all the message, unplug you phone get ready to type the command, plug it in and immediately press enter to run the command. it took some trial and error, and i had to use this other post to help me out. I actually got fastboot working first, then used this post to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477595 to get download mode working, and to flash twrp recovery. After that i used this post to run the command line from with twrp. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696 . I didn't have to flash the factory tot to my phone, but i have that option now because download mode is working. This process will work, there is hope for you getting your phone back. I'm fully recovered. I decided 12B is not worth it in the mean time, but if you want 12B you need to flash the factory tot and then upgrade. There is a way to root 12B, but as of this time you are unable to get Custom Recovery on it.

VZW LG Loop Help

A Verizon rep updated my wife's phone when I bought it for her to the latest "B" update. I rooted it with ioroot15 and installed Clockwork. Everything was working fine for a few days, but now it started shutting off and is now on a continuous loop between the LG logo and CM11. The only thing I can do is boot in recovery to Clockwork...
How can I go back to stock? Or any fix for this?
ADB isn't recognizing it since I can only get into clockwork, so I can't push anything to the sdcard.
I've read many forums and can't seem to find a solution. I'd really appreciate any help!
how you tried putting it back in download mode and just downgrading back to the 12A? by doing this it will completely remove your root allowing you to start over. Just need to locate the files but im pretty sure they are google for the VZN variant

Going in download mode just has you pressing up when you plug in the USB, right? My phone won't go completely off for me to do that. It keeps turning on. Pressing/holding up when plugging in does nothing.
Yes that is how you get to download mode, I had this problem as well make sure you don't have it plugged in and hold the power button until it completely turns off sometimes this can take a little while. like I said you would have to downgrade using this method and im not sure if I can point you to the files I will deff go ahead and look into this for you and if found I will post you a link

HEY! I'm on the d801 as well and I've been where you're at a number of times, unfortunately. But I've always gotten out. Here's the conclusion I've reached. Trying to flash directly back to stock without wiping all the partitions first is what makes the RDTool get stuck. It's like the phone runs out of memory and can't host a full Gig+ of data since your last ROM is in the way. Sorry if I'm wrong but I'm only assuming you didn't wipe everything except the Internal storage. The good thing every time this has happened to me is that your recovery partition should be intact. Mine always is, and we're on the same variant. Another thing, booting back into recovery is not impossible. It's all in the timing it takes from the first time you see the LG logo while holding volume - and the power button, but don't let go. What worked for me was to let the phone cycle between off and boot power states twice until the phone is completely off again. You may even notice the LED indicator flash red. Release your keys if the phone stays off and immediately hold the combo down again until the phone tries to boot again just don't let go of the buttons. Once it powers down again, leave the phone alone for a few minutes. Come back and this time get ready to boot into recovery. The combo button press will initiate boot but don't let go until the next time you see the LG logo flash, then quickly release and depress the vol down power up combo and hold. May take a minute longer than usual but the reset menu should pop up thereafter. Tap power 2 more times and you should back into recovery. It's worked every time for me. Let me know if you're good and whether this helped!

K, now if you're only seeing the blue dots when you attach by USB your phone to PC, then you're not fully in DL mode to process the kdz. You should see a white wheel in the center of the screen when you connect and a viewing mirror near the base of your phone with ROOTED in red directly below that. And you're sure your PC is detecting your phone? You've the drivers installed? Because when RDT tells you to run the tool, you'll see some binary code in the viewing window I spoke of, the white wheel will turn and below it will be shown the COM port to which you're connected and a solid thin red bar will begin to fill a space in the viewer showing you the progress.
Also, be sure when attempting the first steps I gave you to boot into recovery that you are not USB connected. It won't work.
And, try to remember if your phone was well enough charged, should have been at least 80% full. It happened to me once that I couldn't boot recovery and my phone would go to fastboot like yours until I left it alone to charge and then I repeated the stepsvi laid out to get back into recovery. This part is paramount!
Please READ CAREFULLY
I used to be in your same situation. I thought I had bricked my phone for good. I finally figured it out. Here is my solution from my Thread.
Esteef said:
Okay, after 12+ hours of trying every method possible on XDA I finally resolved my issue. I will update the first post just incase any others care or fall into the same dilemma I was in.
The LG Mobile Support tool would not download the firmware and it would NOT ask me for my IMEI to download it either.
So my solution....
***
Installed LG Mobile Support Tool then Installed the LG Drivers. (FROM HERE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471370
BEFORE I connected the phone to the computer. I opened the LG Mobile support tool clicked (Options on the top right).
When the dropped down opened, I clicked the (Upgrade Recovery) option. THEN, is when the prompt opened to ask me what my IMEI is.
Before I entered my IMEI, I connected my phone to the computer in download mode, then proceeded to enter my IMEI and hit OK.
This is when the LG Mobile Support tool SUCCESSFULLY downloaded the latest official LG firmware and installed it.
*** BE AWARE, with the phone connected to the PC, the prompt NEVER appeared to enter my IMEI.
*** But with the phone disconnected, the prompt came up every time. This might be the trick for some people.
*** with the IMEI prompt opened, I then connected the phone , entered the IMEI, then hit OK. BOOM HERPES....
Well I'll polish this up more later. I hope this works for every LG G2 Variant and not just the T-Mobile one (D801)

Sounds good. A full charge can make all the difference. I learnt the hard way! One or more of us will be along should you need further help.
I do hope you get this sorted! I've come back from the brink too many times to not believe you won't.

You are welcome... The first time I did it too my battery was at 28% and I panicked since I got the low battery error.
I could of sworn that my phone officially became a paper weight. My heart dropped.
I'm glad you are up and running with the rest of us!

[Q] Stuck in Bootloop with CM11

So I'm rooted with TWRP loki and had CM 11 on and running for a while. I just downloaded the latest nightly through CM OS and it asked to be rebooted.
Upon rebooting to TWRP and installing the update it then just kept on trying to reboot with the CM logo. I cannot get the power and volume keys to boot it to recovery and my computer won't recognize it in this state to boot into recovery.
Any ideas??!! Please! I don't know of any way to restore it.

I had to take the back off and manually unplug the battery to turn it off. Then I tried the button combinations posted *power and V down* when LG logo comes on repeat to get to wipe screen. However, the phone did not go to the wipe screen, it just rebooted again.
If I could get it to boot to recovery I'd be golden.

Success!! I'm in Download Mode... What next? ADB still doesn't look to be recognizing the phone.

Error due to low batter. I'll have to see if I can charge it without it wanting to turn on. However, it looks promising -- after three times trying I got the utility to recognize the device at least!
Either way, I appreciate the assistance.
