Adding a +1 to US local numbers!
I am using T-Mobile Service But have a AT&T US Phone I337
All different Roms I have tried keep adding a + to the number ..
So a number looks like this: +16125553333
Or : +612-555-5555
kind of a Pain ..
because you have to delete the + When you save the number to a contact.
It Seems to ignore the + because it still will dial the number just fine and text just fine.
However .. sometimes not always .. it thinks the two numbers are
different and will not " group " it in text messages and call logs
At a loss to figure this out ..
Anyone have an Idea why this is happing ???
Am I the ONLY One this is happing to ?

It's a csc edit that's doing it. The file to edit will be /system/csc/feature.xml or /system/csc/others.xml (if there is no feature.xml in that folder). Compare the file to one on a ROM that displayed numbers how you prefer them to be and you will find the edit.

Hi
I noticed that there is this file named services_log in "My device" path its size is currently 21MB and it is thus using a considerable amount of my device storage space.
I have done a lot of searches on google and on this forum yet no one has ever mentioned this.
What is this file?
can it be deleted and free up all that space?
Or can it be moved to storage card?
Thanks in advance for your help
Ken
Is there anyone who can answer my questions?
It seems that i am the only one having such a file? Does anyone else have a similar issue?

Maybe some of us just don't know a good answer and are waiting for a knowlegable person to stroll past?
You are not the only one to have the file.
It will be difficult to delete as you will likely get a message that it's in use.
You will find it's size fluctuates up and down. But to reduce it's size to a minimum, perform a soft reset from time to time (which with the Hermes you will never forget to do )
My belief is that this is a system file that simply logs running services - stops/starts - but I'm sure somebody "out there" knows more than me.
Mike
Bump
Does anybody have any idea what this does? It really is taking up a large portion of my storage space and I cant actually work out what it is logging and why the file is so big. I notice everyday my storage space getting lower and this file getting bigger.
Thanks to anyone that can shed light on this.
No idea what this file is - but I have the same problem with mine reaching a size of 12mb before I noticed it. I copied the file to my storage card then deleted it. Everything continued to work fine but the system created another new log this time a few k in size. It seems to be writing to this log file every minute or so with something about a VoiceMailClient.cpp so I think it will grow again - no problem will delete every now and then.
Cheers
Barney
Hi Guys,
First time post, long time lurker
The company I work for uses Vodafone V1605 (hermes 200 tytn) devices. I've just received one in that is getting this same fault. The services_log.txt file was 33.5mb!. I did a soft reset and copied the file for investigation, sure enough CVoicemailClient.CPP is logging constantly. After removing I noticed it created a new one that is rapidly increasing in size again. Soft reset performed.
They have over 300 of these in service but this is the first time I've seen this. O/S is WM5 (Vodafone ROM). I have another that is on WM6 which I use for testing that has the Schapps ROM on and this one seems fine.
Wondered if there was a wizz out there that can help the clueless
Cheers,
Paul.
After a bit of digging I found a link mentioning the V1605.
Spoke with Vodafone who provided final update ROM (2.07.161.1). Will try this and see if it resolves it.
Cheers,
Paul.
I have been having the same issues, the only way I could stop the file growing was to delete it (it only appears to be a log file and will be created again shortly afterwards) when it is recreated set it to be read only using Resco Explorer (Or similar). this will stop the system from adding anythig to the log.
If anyone can locate the cause for the log entries that would be a better solution.
Hope this helps...
Hi, I have the same issue with a Vodafone VPA Compact (herm 200). I have found that the error numbers in the log file change if I change the voice mail settings. The voice mail service seems to be working fine so I don't know why this file is being created. I have done a hard reset and setup the phone from scratch but I'm still getting this file. I have changed the file to be a read only file but this has not fixed the problem as all this has done is stop it from adding to the file rather than stop the problem.
after I changed the voice mail settings I get this log:

Hi Guys,
I found a solution for GprsServiceLogFile.txt file.
You have to access windows mobile registry by any application like CeReEditor and follow this route: HKLM\Software\Apps\GPRS Monitor\Debug\DebugLogFlag and change value from 1 to 0
Then, soft reset the mobile and delete the file.
I hope this can help anyone.
Regards,
Hello Guys
This might look new or wierd but sometime there are a few of these kind of messages that i want to forward or keep with me n cherish
Unfortunately im unable due to no options to save them or copy text. I've searched everywhere in the rom where it may save these temp files so i can copy text but no success.
I wonder if there is any registery hack or software or probably any idea to save or copy text without capturing screen.
i called my carrier they told me that these r flash sms because its my subscribed service, cannot be altered
Plz help!
thankyou

Everytime i use a Settings Improvement Package from one of the latest Huashan ROM's it changes the Serial Number shown in "Phone identity"

Thanks for your reply but this isn't the issue. Somewhere in the Settings Improvement Package the serial numbers gets set. When i use an older package it showes the right serial but when i change it to a newer version things get changed.
Use Settings Improvement 1.0.20111623 instead.

Yas that's whaty i`m using and it works flawless however i would like to know why the latest packages change serial and how to fix this ( if it can be fixed )
seems to be hard coded in the EXE file to point to a different register / address. I looked at the XML and couldn't find any hint. Maybe there's some hidden Registry settings allowing to do that but not to my knowledge.

It could be a god thing if you have also said what is your CID. I could modify the file and send it to you. There is no big deal after all. For hex editing the file you should follow the below steps:
1. Look for a free HEX editor (as someone says, Google is your friend ). You can take one as THIS free editor.
2. Launch editor and open the mtd0.img you have downloaded (as the tutorial says) from HERE.
3. You'll see a screen as in the attached PrtScr. The CID is located at the begining of the file (check in the attached picture, I've surrounded it by a red circle)
4. Click on the first letter then start to change text there to mach your CID and save the file.
5. Done
Thanks for your help, I solved the problem
Hi,
I'm using L29C636 in U.S (B161), and received this "invalid recipient" error. After some digging, I found out it was caused by phone number formatting issue ( if I remove all non number characters and add country code at front, it then works fine), and we can modify an entry in feature.xml file to fix this. Typically the file should be located in /system/csc/, but I don't see this folder... Anyone has an idea where it could be?
Thanks!

I have a VKY-L29C636B124 in Canada. I have had a similar issue. When I send a text message to someone for the first time, going through the contact manager I will always get an "invalid recipient" error, I go back to the contact manager and try again and THEN my message will go through.
I think the my phone wants me to put a 1 in front of every phone number and treat them as if they were all long distance calls.
