Does anyone know where are the sensors positioned? I'm mostly interested in temperature and humidity.
I searched the internet and couldn't find a phone schema. I only found an image for Galaxy S4, but don't know if the locations are the same.

Does anyone know of any way to get better digitizer accuracy on this tablet? If I draw diagonal lines with any kind of stylus, the lines are always wavy and it's extremely frustrating to attempt to draw anything. I rooted my tablet in order to use the screen calibration tool in the market only to discover that it doesn't work on the tab 2... I guess I'll have to stick with drawing on my much smaller galaxy nexus for now.

The screen is accurate enough. There's no need to calibrate your digitizer, because the problem is - STYLUS.
Try to draw something with just a tip of your finger, it would be more accurate than a draw with a cheap stylus.

I have to disagree here. I've tried both dagi and cheap stylii, both have the issue on this tablet. If I go to my galaxy nexus with the same stylii, guess what? They draw straight lines.

The original galaxy tab 7" had the same issues, and the screen calibration app in the market allows adjustments to it to make it better. I have done a lot of reading on this and the difference these adjustments make is drastic. I wanted to see if anyone knew of anything similar for the tab 2, but instead I am met with people who are eager to reply without even doing the minimal amount of research or even have any clue what they are talking about.

It looks like the tab 10.1" also has this problem:

The touchscreen calibration information seems to be stored in melfas.bin firmware file since the tab 2 uses the melfas touchscreen driver. There's nothing to be found in the driver source or in sysfs. I've looked.
But you're right, I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

Was referring to the guy who told me I was using a cheap stylus when I never stated what I was using, and used both cheap and high quality stylii. It's frustrating to look for answers first, then ask questions, then have someone answer with false assumptions.

Dralanmage, did you ever find a solution to the screen calibration issue?
I notice that the majority of the screen is accurate. However, the edges are out by almost 0.5 cm. I verified this by tapping settings, developer options, show touches. I'm using the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7".

Nope. The screen is fairly accurate with a finger, but always draws wavy lines with any kind of stylus. Even with a finger, the lines are wavy. However, the amplitude of the waves is much lower so it's not as noticeable.

Same with the vzw tab. Scrolling in landscape is annoying as hell unless you add more finger surface area..

thx man but this pic from n9000
any one can assure that working on Exynos version ?
I have n9005 and it has the same sensors , including temperaturesensor. So dont worry
At first when I got my N9005 I also thought theres no "temperature sensor" only "ambient sensor"? Seems some apps like Android Sensor Box may have not updated their app then I found out that the "TYPE_TEMPERATURE" sensor was replaced with the "TYPE_AMBIENT_TEMPERATURE" sensor in API Level 14 and has been deprecated.
See this link developer.android.com/guide/topics/sensors/sensors_overview.html
Hope it clears many doubts.
Hey guys, just noticed this today. I know the top and bottom holes are for the microphone but then i found another hole on the bottom right, anyone know whats it for?
Talking about the N9005, don't know if the N9000 has the same.
Bottom Right?
Don't suppose you mean the Spen slot..?

prob temp and humidity sensor
Yes, I see it... I have no idea what it could be. It's not listed on the Consultant Guide or the Manual (http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...UM_EU_Jellybean_Eng_Rev.1.0_130910_Screen.pdf )
It is no doubt a sensor, though which remains a mystery.
Temp and humidity sensor. Is the only one.who needs contact with the surrounding air. On the bottom the heat from the process will alter the readings. I'm 100% that i'm right about this.

What is your source?
Common sense. I do.have S4 with temp.and.humidity sensor and it's a hole more than the two mics. The Note 3 the same, only other placement of the hole. the S4 active does not have the temp and humidity sensor...so no extra hole, just thw two mics.

That's my point, how often do you really care what the humidity level is?
I used to drag race and a humidity sensor would have been great to have back then. Helps with calculations for settings.

Isn't humidity and barometer sensor supposed to help with location in google maps? And I would suspect that those might be useful in a crowd sourcing app or whatever for more accurate weather per location if it is available to be used that way which as of now I don't think it is.
This article is an interesting read about how the sensor got incorporated into samsung devices/android.
Acording to Anandtech it's actually the third microphone that's used for noise cancellation : http://www.anandtech.com/show/7376/samsung-galaxy-note-3-review

Hi, I've my unit purchased in India. Don't know which model. I think It's 9000. It has a hole in the right side. Don't know what for. Besides, on the bottom right, next to S Pen slot, there is a rectangular open slot too. Any idea?
hi guys
i just bought samsung gakaxy note 3 N9000 (exynos version) 2 days ago and i noticed something weird with the stylus
there is a certain area of the screen (to the right exactly) that the stylus doesn't write properly i need to press hard on this area when i try to write or scroll and sometimes it doesn't write even if i pressed hard
any ideas what could be the problem??!!!
the finger touches work normally only the stylus
i tried to record it but all screen recorders require rooting and i don't want to root this phone now
i took a screen capture by "Screen Write " feature with the air command .... you can see clearly the area that has no Red lines in the right of the screen
thnx all

the problem solved by removing the case
i read on another forum that some types of cases interfere with the magnetic field of the stylus
weird :silly::silly:
i removed the case and the stylus is working fine now all over the screen

Sadly I had to cut throw the leather of The Case To remove the magnet
from inside
Better Than discarding the whole case

Hi all, as you can see in the photo my note 3 suffer from this strange lines especially noticeable on the grey and white colors. Can any anyone test his screen and tell if have this problem too? you can do it by downloading "Screen Test" app. Also i'd like to know if this is a software or hardware related problem.
a friend of mine have a similar problem! maybe is a difect of every phone... please test and let me know
Had this issue with 2 Galaxy S4 which I finally gave up on - they are defective. You can only see it in low light under grey background. Go back and throw the phone at them. Trouble is the technician will never see it in store under those lights.
No, but that app is so ridiculously low-res that I can see the individual pixels.
Do they also show up if you open up Sketchbook? (Gives you a white sheet.)
Yep, the infamous AMOLED verticle lines going down the screen. I am glad my note 3 doesnt have this, really irritated me on the S4.
