[REQUEST] Certain System Files - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" General

Hello! Since we got root on the device, the next priority is bypassing the security system in the bootloader.
After reading up on the specs of the KFHDX, I saw that it has the same SoC as the LG G2. I looked up bootloader unlock methods for the LG G2 and apparently it is possible to bypass the signature check by using the "Loki Bootloader Signature Verification Bypass" method. I will try my hardest to make this possible.
In order to make this possible, I request the HDX7's and HDX8.9's "aboot" and "recovery" partitions.
To grab them from your ROOTED device, do the following on your computer:
Code:
$ adb shell
$ su
# dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot of=/data/local/tmp/aboot.img
# chmod 644 /data/local/tmp/aboot.img
# dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery of=/data/local/tmp/recovery.img
# chmod 644 /data/local/tmp/recovery.img
# exit
$ exit
$ adb pull /data/local/tmp/aboot.img
$ adb pull /data/local/tmp/recovery.img
Once you have those two files, email them to me at r3pwn (at) icloud (dot) com
Also, tell me what version of the HDX you have (7" or 8.9") and what firmware version you are running (You can see this in settings).
PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO NOT NEED THOSE FILES FOR THE REGULAR KINDLE FIRE HD 7" SECOND GENERATION.

Also, If someone could pass me the build.prop, that would be nice, too.

HDX 7" Files
I sent an e-mail with the individual files, and here's a zip with them as well. Hope it helps. Thanks for your work on further awesomeizing this great tablet.

Thanks! I'll try to get to looking at these later today.

Emailing you the about.img and build.prop for my HDX 8.9. The recovery.img file was not created when I ran the command you showed. I go to the directory and I do see recovery listed there.

FYI, when the source was first published by Amazon, I checked and it looked like the Loki exploit was patched.

good job,hope you guys make the cm11 comeout soon.

Hey guys, I made a factory cable, and was able to get my bricked device recognized as "Qualcomm USB modem converter", now I don't know what else to try.
I would be happy to have regular fire OS back, but would love a bootloader unlock or custom recovery so I can try to repair the device. In short, I can test most anything you want (anything I can in its current state)
I opened a thread about it, any help is appreciated!

How "bricked" is your device? If you try to turn it on normally, do you see the "Kindle Fire" logo?

It used to show the gray kindle fire logo, or get to recovery. Now not even that is working anymore, I guess the factory cable burned it out, or something... any ideas?

Problem rooting (adb stopped seeing device) help?

I was following this thread here to root the xoom and I got the adb installed and was able to see the xoom when I type adb devices
now after I did the unlock of the xoom, it pretty much restarted itself and it's like a factory reset.... however now I can't get adb to see the xoom... the drivers seem installed because I see the 'xoom' on the computer
any help with this guys? I'm lost here
eta - forgot after the reset of the device, I had to enable debugging... that's why
Make sure USB debugging is enabled, always
When you unlocked the Xoom it wiped and reset back to factory settings which doesn't by default have USB debugging enabled

ok thanks!
next problem... where do I put the .img file for the CWM recovery? I put it in the same folder as the adb stuff, and it's not reading it/finding it
Yes place it where your fastboot and adb files are.

Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-Tiamat-R4c-100611-1150-cwm.img
I tried renaming it to CWM.img and it doesn't work either, I get the error
Code:
error: cannot load 'CWM.img'

[Q] How do I unbrick my kindle ON MAC?

So heres my story,
I rooted my kindle via kindlewater for mac, everything was fine, i had the android market and such and firefirefire with clockworkmod. I decided to try to flash an ICS MUIU ROM, but then when i rebooted, my kindle won't go past the firefirefire bootloader, I have try the buttons and everything. I have tryed KindleFireUtility 0.9.2 for Mac/Linux, and I have installed the so-called 'drivers' (Mac obviously doesnt use drivers), but when I plug the kindle in for KFU, it says kindle offline, and the Android Debugging Bridge is also offline.
I need help please

Still having issues, can you please explain how I can fix this?
Can you please be more specific? What Kindle software version are you using; 6.2, 6.3? Do you have the correct drivers in the right place? (i.e. in a folder named “.android" placed in your home$ folder) Do you know what bootmode you are in? Have you tried issuing Terminal commands manually?
When you type:
./fastboot devices
or
./adb devices
...what happens?

Bad drivers.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552547
Go to device manager on your PC and find any drivers named kindle, or android, and uninstall them (you might have to show hidden drivers for them to show) and install the ones that came with kfu. Then reboot your PC and plug your fire in to the USB. And it should recognize your device

I see you mentioned Samsung and root in the same sentence. Perhaps you already installed Samsung drivers? I had the same problem rooting my KF and this is what finally solved it for me: (quoted from android.stackexchange.com/questions/17625/where-is-debugging-mode-on-kindle-fire )
"You simply need to add the Fire's device ID to your android_usb.ini file so that the Google ADB drivers will find it. You can do this from the command line very easily with:
echo 0x1949 >> "%USERPROFILE%\.android\adb_usb.ini
Then restart adb
adb kill-server
adb start-server
"
Did you get it rooted?

Unroot, TWRP, SU GONE WRONG!

I was trying to get my Kindle Fire HD 7, getting it ready to sell (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2409435). But i've done something wrong, i have transfered the file to my Kindle, wipe everything expect sd. Afterwards i flashed the update 7.4.6 bin, and wipe the sd again. And rebooted my Kindle fire. And now its stuck on the Kindle Fire logo. HELP! I need fix this within the next 24 hours! I DO NOT have a fastboot cable either.
Does the logo ever turn blue? If it doesn't you will need a fastboot cable to fix.

No! it's just stuck on the orange logo. I dont have a fastboot cable, i'm selling this within the next 24 hours to someone. I need to get this fix ASAP!
Well unless you can make a fastboot cable with a soldering iron then your going to have some problems. I can try to see if you can get it into fastboot the way we do 8.9" models, but if you plug the device in and your PC doesn't detect a Tate device in the device manager then you will have to goto the fastboot cable method. If it does then try to quickly install the drivers in my signature. From there you would just need a command prompt and the fastboot command.

Proceeding at all with 7.4.7 is at own risk. I have a used tablet coming in the mail and will be here Tuesday. I will restore and test out rooting with binary and try some KFFA things with 7.4.7. I won't know anything until late Tuesday evening. Maybe someone will come along with some information before then. If not, I will let you know then.
Edit - Because this is possibly new hardwareI have edit my response to say just don't try it until you here from those who made the scripts give the all clear. I thought this was just an update to the 2012 Kindle Fire HD and the new Kindle Fire HD. This may not be the case. Until it gets sorted out, probably best to wait for the devs to sound off.

How did you tried? Did it root? Did you have a factory cable?
Try this...
Get Bin4ry's root and extract the 'fakebackup.ab'. Get ADB set up and working and enter the following:
Code:
adb restore fakebackup.ab
If the restore screen pops up, where it says "restore my data" at the bottom (don't press on it though), then there's a good chance they didn't patch the exploit. If the ADB restore hasn't been disabled, I would say go ahead and try to root it. It probably wouldn't hurt to make sure the factory cable still works though.
Confirmed as working

I Have successfully rooted my kindle fire HD 7 - 7.4.7
With the Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v31
1) WHILE KINDLE IS UNPLUGGED Uninstall all kindle Drivers:
Download The adb drivers from the post
2) Go to settings on Kindle Enable ADB
3) Plug kindle in,
When the device is recognized you can now root.
4) Open the tool, Select option one, and read the instructions on the tool.
Enjoy!

You can try again. One will install some launchers with it too. Be careful though. Using this tool on the 4th generations is not widely tested. Not that I know of anyway.

Hi, My kindle is not the newest one, so I assume it's normal Kindle fire HD 7'', I tried to run it another few times with different setups on my pc etc. same error every time. It's weird that it says it's rooted but I can't get most of the thing working, perhaps I should try to put in recovery, alt boot loader and install some different rom. But because I'm not confident about my root I rather use amazon-handicapped device than get a brick.
I would not proceed until your root is working properly. Sometimes the rooting process has to be repeated. You will want to get a fastboot cord just in case if you try to install ROM.
Just the other day I had to run root and restore 4 times before it took. Ended up I got the one that installs Apex launchers as well and just installed that afterward.

Hi, to install 2nd bootloader and twrp and then cm11 factory cable isn't needed. Kffa want downloading files to downgrade to7.2.3 so I got it manually inhaled then twrp and cm11 no problem. But then cm11 started crashing so I rebooted kindle butit dinner start, in twrp it reported that storage can't be mounted, I have pushed Rom using adb but it wouldn't install due to storage issue soI used that tool to recover kindle but after successful installation I got into a reboot loop. Factory reset cable is already ordered. After cm 11 issues I don't know if I'll try it again.
