I can't really describe how I feel with words.
We never worked together but we worked on the same device. The EVO forums were like a dev family, and we lost a member.
RIP buddy.

My friend, a great inspiration to the community, i enjoyed the time we knew each other and the work we shared, the great feedback to the community and the kind words you gave me on my work, you will be missed and never forgotten my friend. I'm glad I had a chance to work on one of your projects these last few weeks. Go easy my friend look over all who knew you and give us inspiration, show us the way.

I still can't believe it.......My thoughts and prayers go out to his family!
I talked to Diablo a few times throughout the years and I will say this about him. Every time I talked to him, I could sense the love he had for all of this! For his contributions, his ROMs and just to be part of all of this! The guy loved Android and he loved helping people!
He would help anyone at any time no matter what! It didn't matter if you had a problem with someone on his team or vice versa, he only cared about helping you. He wanted to see the community grow and wanted to be part of it.
Last time I talked to him, I was helping him get setup so he could compile some ROMs from source and maybe add some mods at a later date. We talked about Android and the community as a whole. Joked around a bit and that was it.........I can't believe that was the last time I would talk to him.
This morning I logged on to Google+ and to my surprise I saw the news that he had passed away
Diablo, you will be missed dude!
Diablo was a great guy and I'm proud to of called him a friend and a team mate. His passion for android and learning and sharing was inspirational.
Mad love for you brother. May you find the peace that was lacking in life and rest easy knowing you touched so many of us with your open mind and giving nature.

I never got a chance to work with Diablo directly but he showed how much he loved android in the Roms he put out. I ran so many of his Roms, people like him is what made the EVO Community so great. Hard to believe our friend is gone. He will be missed. My condolences to his friends and family. Rest in peace bud.
When I got my first Og I found his work to be some of the best. He inspired me to start working with android. Later I got to work with him on a couple projects and it was always fun and games. He was always around to help anyone with their problems even personal problems. No matter if things were going bad for him he was still there for us.
Diablo67 was one of the greats. A great artist, tweaker, modder, friend, and man. I could have never asked to know a better person. He will live on in our hearts and our Evo's. I know longer use mine as a primary phone but it is still running one of his ROMs.

This totally shatters me. I don't even know how to be right now about this. Diablo was one of my best friends on here. We were in several Dev teams together, but that's nothing. He was just one of the few people, along with Swiper and others that I truly considered a friend. Even while I haven't been so active on XDA recently, we still had a lot of PM conversations. I'll miss him a lot. Much more than i can put into words.
Go with God, my friend ((((((((
I'm at a loss for words.. He was a good friend and an excellent mentor and I'm proud to say I've worked with him. I only wish I had spoke to him more in the last few months.. May he rest in peace.

I never really got the chance to talk to him much, but from the few times I did here on XDA he was kind and always patient with questions. He was the type of dev that would make it a priority to fix a problem of a single user, or help them troubleshoot.
Also, he taught quite a few of you who helped me learn more about Android and everything that goes with it. So indirectly, he taught more people than he knew.
I'm going to miss seeing his name around here, though his works will live on. All in all, fantastic Dev/chef/modder.

I'm sorry to inform everyone but I'm leaving xda. I will update my work to work with the new CWM and that will be all.
Xda is getting old. Feels like I'm back in high school. To many people whining about froyo. No one knows how to use the search button. No one appreciates the work people do and demand changes. I'm sick of repeating myself cause retards don't know how to read. Mods never around and when they show up the come riding in on a high horse. Count me in, XDA is like a zoo now. At first it was awesome, but with the influx of people asking repetative questions it has gotten old fast. Maybe hopefully (don't count on it) official froyo will help this but I doubt it. Its time to move on, I appreciate all of the supporters of my themes and work I have done for mystery. Best of luck to everyone else, I don't know how the hell you rom devs can tolerate the stupidity of people but props. Oh and one final thought: ACS will continue to receive my work and support, simply because both rob and k0nane appreciate it. So don't think you won't hear from me again, just probably not directly on XDA.
Goodbye.

Not everyone was a noob. Some read the threads and used the search option before they ever posted a thing. I really wish more people would do that and appreciate the sometimes rather difficult problems that the ROM makers go through. They could be making a lot more money in the industry but rather are here helping out the community. That I can never forget and always appreciate.

It's hard to read this and not wonder how you have not already come to understand that all forums have the problems you are citing. This happens every day in any forum you can name on any and every topic possible.
It's sad that you can't separate the vocal minority from the silent majority. Instead you make overreaching general statements about the state of the XDA forums based on your observation of maybe 20 users who whine about updates and are too lazy to search.
Honestly, if you are unable to separate the signal from the noise and your skin is too thin to take a handful of annoying people demanding something from you then we are all probably better off with your departure.
Noob **** is a problem on every forum.
Having been on XDA for a long time now I know that there are a vocal minority that will say "so what" to this post, but that's okay, I'm a happy camper today. The reason that I'm a happy camper is that when I got my Evo just about a year ago I didn't know anything about android. We had what seemed to be a 20 step root method using ADB that frankly scared the crap put of me when I tried it. It was nothing like using my old Mogul.
Today I was able to help 3 different people with problems. It was one of those good news / bad news situations. The bad news is that probably 90% of the folks here still know more about android than I ever will. The good news is that I'm now competent to help those other 10%!
I know, doesn't seem like much compared to out forum "greats," but 3 thanks from 3 different threads is a personal accomplishment for me.
Aha Congrats! I love helping people out although i don't know much as most people here in xda. Everyone learns one thread at a time!

I was the exact same way. I was a complete noob until I had CM7 running on my old Hero a few months ago (6 I think?) then I got the evo and since about 3 weeks ago, I started helping people out. I even made a perfected batch script that pulls apps from /data/app and for devs I made a /system pulling script.
Congrats man for being one of the good guys.
This is exactly the sort of thing that everyone on XDA should be all about. I've personally come a long way from mucking around with ADB to root my Hero and it's really nice to be able to help out every now and then.
Nothing wrong with taking pride in helping others! There are some things it's ok to be proud of, that's one of them! I, too, was a complete noob when I came from iPhone to EVO. At first i just read every thread that had an interest to me but soon i started to read questions and thing "Oh, i know that answer I had this problem already!" or maybe someone else had the problem and posted about it and I read that thread. Before long I was helping people fairly regularly, Up to 17 thanks so far which I know isn't that much but for me it is since i still really know very little about android. But remember it doesn't matter how little you know, as long as you share it!
Some of us remember well the days before internet came around. There were no communities like this. If you needed to know something and it wasn't in a book you owned you went to the library and spent all day looking it up! Now any 8 year old can google anything in 5 seconds. And with smartphones they can do it anywhere. Communities like this one are making sooo many things possible that just weren't before for most people, and people that are willing to help others are what makes it all possible!
The internet? Days before? I don't even ...

Hey, that's what a community board is all about. Helping those that need help and getting help in return. At one point even the developers were "noobs". They had to start from scratch with only each others knowledge and a couple computers and phones. After years of giving each other a helping hand, they were able to crack every code all the manufacturers created to lock down the true potential of the phones and have made XDA the biggest and best. developers website there is today.

I see xda as a place for devs not a "how do I tie my shoes" help forum. There are plenty of those out there.
I agree that some take it too far then again if the admins were on top of things this wouldn't happen.
Xda has become popular. Its the source of many good ROMs. I wasn't around during the winmo days, but I assume those people were hardcore and the original flashers.
You can thank android for making xda popular via websites such as phadroid or droidheadlines or anything with the word android in it that link xda. "You can activate hspa+! But not through att but xda!"

While I wasn't here during the winmo days, I can say the overall discussion on this site has been nosing down toward negative. Not just in the Atrix section, but all of the sections I visit.
Well the author of this thread, if you haven't noticed, hasn't noticed the stick up arse. Have you noticed his responses, the threads he/starts, the entitlement and lack of humor. And I don't think the case was presented very well with a topic started like this. Have a nice day op.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
This question has been asked before, learn to use the search button noob!!!
I have no qualms with XDA as I have enhanced my devices exponentially thanks to the "services" and advice and help.
however, coming from the nexus one, and those threads, to the
atrix and its threads, I have noticed a lot more animosity and the lack of overall altruism that I used to sense.
Again, I thank xda for all that it shares and I am grateful, animosity or not, but I understand what the OP is feeling.

i feel what your saying, but not everybody on here act like that, i try to help when i can even if their new to the atrix. I've ran across a few that tried to give me a hard time when i was only asking a simple question, you just gotta put them in their place, even if you gotta snap on them, they'll learn not to mess with you.
Im on the fence here because I do come from winmo and my HTC Fuze where there was tons of help. You could say I was a flash whore back then and I did it within the 1st 24hrs of owning it because people seemed to give me clear instructions and not point me to a link that conflicted with another link or set of directions.
I now am going on a week with the new Atrix and am getting close to unlocking it with very vague help and nobody seems to take a look at exactly what I am saying or my concerns but just push me somewhere else. So I guess it is help but it seems like getting pawned off onto someone else in hopes they will give me a direct answer...
Props to XDA and its legions of devs and what you guys do but right now I feel exhausted with this phone...
why is this assinine thread getting so much attention? completely off-topic, and irrelvant to the atrix. The question is (again) where is the mods?

Good evening everyone. Team DIRT is in need of some quality beta testers. We are venturing in to new territory. With this new territory comes new challenges and obstacles.
A little back info on the Team. We started with myself and mazdarider23 after the dissipation of Team Ramen Noodles. We are still a new team, but don't let the newness of the team caution you. We have several talented individuals in collaboration on this team with some tenure. We mainly develop for the Supersonic Evo 4G, however we have branched out and are also working on the Crespo4g Nexus S 4G and the Jewel Evo 4G LTE.
------------------------------------------------------------Here is a brief intro of the Team.
Myself - Co-founder of Team D.I.R.T and Tincandroid.com (as well as webmaster). Fairly new to the dev scene (Nov 2011). I'm mainly a themer, but recently have dove head first into developing for this new and amazing device.
Mazdarider23 - The other co-founder of Team D.I.R.T and Tincandroid.com. He has been my mentor and go to person since starting with Team Ramen Noodles. Hes is more or less the man when it comes to bringing roms to life.
PapaSmurf151 - Famous for his Smurfed Out Tweaks. This man really knows how to edit a build.prop and int.d. Without his tweaks the EVO probably couldn't still be the heavy contender that it is now. Papa was also an original member of Team Ramen Noodles
SavocaWTF - Newest member to the team. He brings an amazing talent for grahics as well as someone to pick on from time to time..
iBlowpot - Also brings to the table the talent of amazing graphics, splash screens and boot animations
jamieg71 - The brains behind Decks ReLoaded. Decks which is one of the most revered AOSP Roms for the EVO, was passed for further development and customization.
ropodope - Also the brain child behind Decks ReLoaded. He is also the co-dev of COD Tweaks. Ropodope is one of the most helpful and friendliest members in the EVO section.
digitalkarma - The master of the Sense Rom DigitalKarma for the EVO. This is our resident sense guy. Even though most of us are AOSP fan, this guy has to go against the grain.. We still put up with him though.
oneoftherabble - He's not much into the software side of the house but he's considered an expert on hardware and how things work from the inside and he's also a writer for the root of all evo.
------------------------------------------------------------Enough about the team. Now on to the nitty-gritty of the matter.
Being that I am the only one with the Nexus S 4G, We don't feel that a Rom can be released with only one person testing everything. Plus the fact that I am on Cricket puts me at even more of a disadvantage.
With all this being said if you are interested in being a beta tester for Team D.I.R.T please send me a PM or message on gtalk (same username as XDA). We already have one rom in testing phase with one to two more in the wings.
A few ground rules to start:
1. Please be able to test the Rom to its fullest extent. Break it, please.
2. Be able to send logcats, screenies or detailed info based on the problem/s encountered.
3. NO sharing links with non beta testers. We have had Kang issues in the past with leaks.
Reserved just in case....
I'll test whatever's needed, get my gtalk from mazda
Hey I'm down for sure. I've been an avid fan of decks since my evo days. I frequent the reloaded thread a LoT. Ropes advice was probably the biggest influence that sparked my interest in android, and kept my little evo running. I'm not a noob by any means, and will put whatever you bring to the test. I've learned my way around adb and fast boot, so f**k a soft brick. Its just a clean start. I can't wait to see this get goin. Welcome to the ns4g, and thanks for bringing everyone else w ya.

hey ya'll if you signed up to be a beta tester and you've done all the steps and have actually tested please get in touch with the OP
he needs to make sure some things are working properly and me being the only one who's actually gotten in contact with him so far just isn't gonna cut it because for one, not every device is the same, and two I don't live in a wimax area...
SO please get in touch with him so we can get some new lifed breathed into our NS4Gs
his gtalk is the same as his username on xda

Thank you to all my beta testers. Positions have been filled. However I am still in need of someone that is in a 4G area.
Current beta testers: be on the look out, hit a snag on last nights update but that is being worked on and something should be available later tonight.

Flashvetrin R.I.P (06/05/64--09/10/15)
Flashvetrin Album here> Some pics of Marcus and family We're always thinking of you my friend.
You will be greatly missed my friend...:crying::crying:
I'm making this thread for anyone who Flashvetrin (Marcus) has helped, spoke to, made you smile, etc here in the T mobile section.
Feel free to post whatever you would like to say here. Or just want to talk about it.
A message from his wife, for those wondering what happened to our friend.
On Thursday September 10th 2015 My husband unexpectedly passed away. While at work Wednesday afternoon He was having chest pain and was rushed to the hospital, after being seen by the doctor they found he had a torn carotid artery, He went in for surgery to stitch it up but they would not hold, his surgeon worked on him for hours and was unable to save him. MARCUS was a caring, loving husband, an incredible papa to Trinity, a father, son, friend and meant so much to so many and will be missed by all of us.

I had to write the OP and check to make sure I understood this correctly, but it seems Flashvetrin passed away. Lots of people in the community knew him because he was very active in the forums always testing ROM development and helping members. Since this thread is intended to be in his memory I wanted to share two of my interactions with him that stood out in my mind.
There was some bad advice being kicked around the Dynamic Kat forums where Flashvetrin was very active in posting. Some people were offering advice about how to fix an issue and I immediately took to shooting that advice down in the most blunt way possible. I should have come up with an alternative solution, but luckily where I lack tact, Flashvetrin came in being helpful and offered a solution that helped everybody.
This was his response which was perfect and settled everything. He even stood up for me later in the thread when I realized that I had taken my criticism too far. I couldn't bring myself to post after that and Flashvetrin never held my statements against me. Just recently he helped me in the Darthstalker forums (this post), responding to me almost immediately when I'm quite sure he could have had other things going on. When I think of the Note 4 forums there are just a few members that stand out in my mind and Flashvetrin was always one of them. He was an incredible member of these forums and I am going to miss his presence here.
I didn't know Marcus personally, I kind of wish I had. But I did get to see his personality and penchant for helping others through these forums. There are few members that had his level of commitment to this community and I am grateful that I had a chance to interact with him. I have the utmost respect for him and I hope that his family and friends know that he was incredibly important to this little corner of the Internet. Thank you for everything, Marcus.
Man, he was posting and helping myself and others on the 9th!!! Its sad to say the least. Can someone explain what happened?
Rest in peace brother. I didn't know you personally but I've read many of your posts. You will be missed.

no words... really really sad news...
Marcus this is from your Echoe brothers,
Marcus was one of those amazing people who make you wanna become a better person yourself.. Not because he tells you so.. no... I dont ever remember him telling anyone what to do or how to act! No, he inspired you, me, us, just because of who he was, of how he is, of how patient, understanding and wise he was!! I, we, were lucky that we had the honor to be teammates and friends. I was lucky that I had this man listen to me, and talk to me about so many things besides android.. Yeah Marcus was a seasoned android veteran but that wasnt his main strength.. His strength was his entire existence, his personality, his energy, his kindness, his whole being...
We will truly miss you Marcus @Flashvetrin
May we all aspire to become more like you...
May you rest in peace my friend..
Flashing Dutchman
What?!?! Omg.... He was just PMing me the other day, helping me with kernels. This is horrible :'(

Am shocked myself. This just comes to show how committed he was to these gadgets we love and for which are a part of our lives, work, everything. Rip bro.
Flashvetrin (Marcus) was a very active contributor. He loved to help people on XDA. He was on his way to becoming an RC of that there is no doubt. I have been a part of XDA since 2010 and I am happy to be a part of this community and with that comes the down side of seeing people you know pass on too soon. Marcus will be the third that I had a lot of contact with in this community. He will be missed!
R.I.P. Flashvetrin!
When we have all paid our respects, this thread will be the OT Lounge for this device to speak of things not necessarily phone related but can be...and please keep within the rules.
Marcus was a guiding light in a sometime dark forum. He was always there to give helping advice and encourage you to press on. May the Lord above Bless his spirit and his loved ones during this difficult time.

Wow, the brevity of life! Very sad news indeed.. Rest in peace dear Friend Flash!
This is the worst news .... R.I.P Marcus.
Anyone good with graphics design, care to make a tribute banner? I'd love to put one in my signature.. I'm sure a few guys here would too.
Thanks for everything Flash.
