Good evening everyone. Team DIRT is in need of some quality beta testers. We are venturing in to new territory. With this new territory comes new challenges and obstacles.
A little back info on the Team. We started with myself and mazdarider23 after the dissipation of Team Ramen Noodles. We are still a new team, but don't let the newness of the team caution you. We have several talented individuals in collaboration on this team with some tenure. We mainly develop for the Supersonic Evo 4G, however we have branched out and are also working on the Crespo4g Nexus S 4G and the Jewel Evo 4G LTE.
------------------------------------------------------------Here is a brief intro of the Team.
Myself - Co-founder of Team D.I.R.T and Tincandroid.com (as well as webmaster). Fairly new to the dev scene (Nov 2011). I'm mainly a themer, but recently have dove head first into developing for this new and amazing device.
Mazdarider23 - The other co-founder of Team D.I.R.T and Tincandroid.com. He has been my mentor and go to person since starting with Team Ramen Noodles. Hes is more or less the man when it comes to bringing roms to life.
PapaSmurf151 - Famous for his Smurfed Out Tweaks. This man really knows how to edit a build.prop and int.d. Without his tweaks the EVO probably couldn't still be the heavy contender that it is now. Papa was also an original member of Team Ramen Noodles
SavocaWTF - Newest member to the team. He brings an amazing talent for grahics as well as someone to pick on from time to time..
iBlowpot - Also brings to the table the talent of amazing graphics, splash screens and boot animations
jamieg71 - The brains behind Decks ReLoaded. Decks which is one of the most revered AOSP Roms for the EVO, was passed for further development and customization.
ropodope - Also the brain child behind Decks ReLoaded. He is also the co-dev of COD Tweaks. Ropodope is one of the most helpful and friendliest members in the EVO section.
digitalkarma - The master of the Sense Rom DigitalKarma for the EVO. This is our resident sense guy. Even though most of us are AOSP fan, this guy has to go against the grain.. We still put up with him though.
oneoftherabble - He's not much into the software side of the house but he's considered an expert on hardware and how things work from the inside and he's also a writer for the root of all evo.
------------------------------------------------------------Enough about the team. Now on to the nitty-gritty of the matter.
Being that I am the only one with the Nexus S 4G, We don't feel that a Rom can be released with only one person testing everything. Plus the fact that I am on Cricket puts me at even more of a disadvantage.
With all this being said if you are interested in being a beta tester for Team D.I.R.T please send me a PM or message on gtalk (same username as XDA). We already have one rom in testing phase with one to two more in the wings.
A few ground rules to start:
1. Please be able to test the Rom to its fullest extent. Break it, please.
2. Be able to send logcats, screenies or detailed info based on the problem/s encountered.
3. NO sharing links with non beta testers. We have had Kang issues in the past with leaks.
Reserved just in case....
I'll test whatever's needed, get my gtalk from mazda
Hey I'm down for sure. I've been an avid fan of decks since my evo days. I frequent the reloaded thread a LoT. Ropes advice was probably the biggest influence that sparked my interest in android, and kept my little evo running. I'm not a noob by any means, and will put whatever you bring to the test. I've learned my way around adb and fast boot, so f**k a soft brick. Its just a clean start. I can't wait to see this get goin. Welcome to the ns4g, and thanks for bringing everyone else w ya.

hey ya'll if you signed up to be a beta tester and you've done all the steps and have actually tested please get in touch with the OP
he needs to make sure some things are working properly and me being the only one who's actually gotten in contact with him so far just isn't gonna cut it because for one, not every device is the same, and two I don't live in a wimax area...
SO please get in touch with him so we can get some new lifed breathed into our NS4Gs

Thank you to all my beta testers. Positions have been filled. However I am still in need of someone that is in a 4G area.
Current beta testers: be on the look out, hit a snag on last nights update but that is being worked on and something should be available later tonight.

A working GPS? They must have taken Samsung Android courses
I've heard the Savaged-Zen team and Deck mention things about GPS being fixed shortly, so hopefully that is a thing of the past soon.
His last reply was "It's actually an app for all Android phones".
Maybe its an app that fixes all the bugs on 4G without having to flash another rom/kernel!
Glad to see somebody else thinking starting other projects when one is broke is not wise.

one of my most favorite parts about the open source community is all our work is shared with everybody! as long as you have an internet connection, you can read the code which makes it very easy to duplicate or improve!
i was so happy to see closed source wimax code ported into open source cm7. i finally made the switch from stock sense to cm7!
to be honest, i felt the wimax settings page and wimax advanced setting pages in cm7 were kind of klunky and had a lot of wasted space (same for stock sense wimax settings page). i took it upon myself to spend countless hours learning how the Settings.apk was setup, rearranging java code, figuring out git/repo from command line and submitting code to cyanogenmod's review site.
it took me 6 failed submissions to cyanogen before i was able to do it correctly! embarrasing it took 6 tries and sooo many hours, but at least i was trying.
heres the link:
http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,4443
i hope it gets accepted
shinzul has done a great job porting over closed source HTC WiMAX code into the open source cyangenmod project. sure, its not perfect, but the code is right there for ALL of us to improve whenever we want!
i'm excited for shinzul's next project as he has shown some great java skills (feel free to browse his source code to see for yourself!) in his ability to bring original content to this community!
its great to see everybodys support and/or feedback. thanks for a great community!

Just curious why ACS is not looking for EPIC developers? Sounds like we have lost our Epic Dev and could use more people interested. Or is the Epic coming to a EOL in the ACS/XDA community? Just curious...
Trust me, its not EOL =)
They have devs...they are about to release 1.3 soon [seriously why isn't it done already!?] And I'm sure as soon as gingerbread finally comes out they will have something fun for us

From what I understood Mystery was leaving as a dev for the Epic ROM and I have not heard of anyone taking over yet.
So hopefully no one takes what I said negatively, I am just curious as to the future of the ACS and the EPIC. I hope we keep seeing support. I am not ready switch phones yet and can't go back to stock when Gingerbread is official. LOL
I have really been enjoying the ACS ROMs. So I hope you are correct.
PS: I would love to help as an ACS dev, but have yet to set down and learn more about the development of Android. Hope to someday get more time to do so.

Chris41g is an amazing Developer for the Epic. I also got to give k0nane, Mystery, and Marcusant a big thanks for all they've done (and what they might/will contribute down the road to us Epic users as Mystery said he would still "lurk the forums and help out" with Development and I remember k0 saying he "might or might not" come back briefly to help out a bit once GB is released. Marcusant has some ROM's of his own going as well.) So I have the best of confidence in Team ACS, and all the other Epic Devs that we will be seeing a lot more treats for our Epic's

But the problem is we should not have to wait for CyanogenMod to release CM9. We have several talented and dedicated developers right here working tirelessly around the clock to bring us a stable release, and other don't want to see this happen.
I was waiting myself for CM9 but I got to thinking. Why should I wait, how long will I be waiting, what am I missing out on right now by waiting? With all the question floating around I took the plunge and flashed JTG ICS. Now I only have one question why did I wait so long to flash?
His rom is my daily driver. I do not live in a 4g area, nor will I ever get 4g (main reason I jumped Sprints money hungry ship), so that does not matter to me. Everything else works the way I need it. Its fast, snappy and responsive.
JTG has put a lot of time and care into his rom and for whatever reason the "other powers" that are out there cant look past petty differences and move forward and continue to provide for the community. I mean its not like the Evo is brand new and has every dev crawling hand over fist to dev for this phone. We have lost devs left and right. I for one am grateful for the ones that have stayed. It does not seem like others are as appreciative as me.
Reading back on that last paragraph it seems that the "other powers" are the Steve Jobs of XDA.
Posted in the other thread as i.missed this one. Not over in the 4G forums as much as in past here so i missed the whole kushdeck drama..
Imho there should be No reason to NOT let someone use your work UNLESS your trying to make money off it which last time i checked is against the rules to begin with.
And we were talking about roms not kernel source correct from what i gather, right?
I see kushdecks Twitter post about xda and ignoring GPL but did he make kernels too?

mazdarider23 said:
NO he didn't make the kernel...tiamat did, all he did was modify it. I mean last time I checked, all of this stuff is open source SO how are you going to tell someone that they can't use what is just a modified version of open source??? This whole permission and this and that has gone out of hand...is one thing to give credit and say "HEY this person made this and I thank him for that" and is another thing for the person to request that you pretty much kiss their ass! Once again, people get away with this kind of stuff because noobs....noobs will follow anyone with a rom no matter what!!

Well tweaking a kernel would mean he would need to comply with GPL himself which I don't remember him ever linking his public git repo for source. Hell on rootzwiki right now he doesn't give it either.
Now its easily found via Google and has the branches there but not linking to it in your OP violates GPL in itself I'm pretty sure.
And I don't get the whole rootzwiki movement some make either. Have fun with less ppl giving you feedback on your stuff. If that's what you want in the end then do private versa and be done with it.

JTG beta 4 is the closet to a fully functioning rom. It has some minor lag at times an a couple of fc here an there but its a solid rom if u don't mind ffc an camcorder not working. Been running it since it was given out to some an its solid. Combine it with a viper mod tweak an its a daily to me. My only issue is that I don't think HA is fully functional, no offense to jared, as I can tell the difference on my girlfriends ics captivate compared to the evo version. It was pointed out when everyone started attacking jared about the gray background vs black in the settings if HA was fully function which I can clearly see on my girls captivate

Like I said...Jared has made great progress with his build of ICS, whether its is built off of someone else's or not, he's made some nice tweaks along with Mazda. I'm using Beta 4 with Mazda's tweaks and this **** is off the chain! I mean fast, stable, no force closes that I can remember and 4.5 is on its way? Jared is the only one I have noticed that actually Updates his ROMs in a timely fashion. Deck is still on alpha 5 while Drew is on preview 6 and been that way a while now. I say go with Jared because he's doing big things out here!!!!
I agree Jared is the real deal.I think its funny that for me haters Rom was the only ice Rom to make it on my phone for more than 30 mins. Hell decks I didn't even make it past signing in

Favorite NOT Best
First of all, ALL of our developers are very much appreciated, BUT deep down you know who your favorite is. Many other devices on XDA have this question posted, except the Atrix 4G (Olympus).
Feel free to thank our great developers below. This is a simple way to remind these guys how many people are grateful for their dedication.
At the top of this page you will find your voting selections. This vote is a one time choice and you will not be able to change it once submitted. Please be aware that this poll will not be visible when using the XDA app. You will have to press the menu button and tap "web view" to properly display this poll.
Please do not flame each other and ABSOLUTELY no feeding trolls!
I apologize if I forgot to include a developer.
* Note: Your vote will remain anonymous.
** Moderators, I just realized I posted this in the General Section. Please move to Q&A if necessary.

That's like asking a parent which kid is his favorite...
If they formed a giant robot like the Power Rangers did, than I pick that one.
Poll your favorite rom developer? Sounds dirty!
Edit:
That list is not complete.
Edit1:
@andrew.cambridge
Regarding your first comment: That's not as hard as everyone claims.
Regarding your second comment: That would be awesome! You round up the devs and I'll get some glue!
I don't see evogp on the list. He deserves the polling.

I vote for every developer, all of them are doing/did a great job at rom developing
You forgot "All of the above".
Dude... How could you forget faux123?!
Also yeah, not quite sure what the point of this thread is... First, it's incomplete, second, I can only see it hurting feelings and starting flamewars.
But that's just me.

i dont like this kind of topic but have to agree with you
I wish I could vote for both joker and epinter for their work in porting CM10 to the Atrix but I had to choose one so I went with epinter since I am currently using his rom. Thank you to both Jokersax and epinter for your hard work.
the poll very bad idea. they are very good developers and modders . all votes should be All of the above
Why risk disappointing our developers with this unneccesary poll? We should be thankful for all their hard work, not let them compete against each other in an arena (*star trek original series fight music playing*)
What a useless poll : they are all great !
Except that one....you know the one I mean...

i agree with that buddy the developers work hard for their family's 8 hours or more then on the free time work on android to bring us a better experience on android that moto cant give us. btw this is really unnecessary to the atrix development community to make a competition on wich better rom developer imho, as much of them are not present to support or offer more support for the threads as others because they are doing the background work and didn't have time to support threads. take an example of turl, faux, cm development team, samcripp, jokersax, thebill and all the people that work to unlock and root the device. without their helps we should don't have aosp development so please im dont want to sound rude or like im demanding something but you sure consider close this thread for the respect of the pioneers and hard workers developers here in this community.:good:
I think this is pointless too. My POV? They all work hard, and many of the ROM's we have are collaberations. Lets not forget that Faux's kernels are almost exclusively used. You cannot possibly pick one developer. Look at it this way.......at least its not another battery thread!!!

Lol.... but on a serious note, I got something good I've been cooking up & scripting to perfection all week for my next update. It will include something to please everyone and allow full customization of a ton of features, mods, apps and tweaks that are all chosen by the user and the updates will no longer only include my choices of what to include\exclude.
Hopefully I can still join the club and be a part of such an epic poll :fingers-crossed:
There is still time to have this thread deleted before there are more hurt feelings.....
Th3Bill! With secondar votes going to Jokersax and epinter for creating the base roms that Th3Bill works from!

I can't really describe how I feel with words.
We never worked together but we worked on the same device. The EVO forums were like a dev family, and we lost a member.
RIP buddy.

I still can't believe it.......My thoughts and prayers go out to his family!
I talked to Diablo a few times throughout the years and I will say this about him. Every time I talked to him, I could sense the love he had for all of this! For his contributions, his ROMs and just to be part of all of this! The guy loved Android and he loved helping people!
He would help anyone at any time no matter what! It didn't matter if you had a problem with someone on his team or vice versa, he only cared about helping you. He wanted to see the community grow and wanted to be part of it.
Last time I talked to him, I was helping him get setup so he could compile some ROMs from source and maybe add some mods at a later date. We talked about Android and the community as a whole. Joked around a bit and that was it.........I can't believe that was the last time I would talk to him.
This morning I logged on to Google+ and to my surprise I saw the news that he had passed away
Diablo, you will be missed dude!
Diablo was a great guy and I'm proud to of called him a friend and a team mate. His passion for android and learning and sharing was inspirational.
Mad love for you brother. May you find the peace that was lacking in life and rest easy knowing you touched so many of us with your open mind and giving nature.

Diablo67, you will surely be missed my friend. I had so much fun testing roms & helping the tiny bit I did. You were always there to help me & everybody else. RIP my friend.

I never got a chance to work with Diablo directly but he showed how much he loved android in the Roms he put out. I ran so many of his Roms, people like him is what made the EVO Community so great. Hard to believe our friend is gone. He will be missed. My condolences to his friends and family. Rest in peace bud.
When I got my first Og I found his work to be some of the best. He inspired me to start working with android. Later I got to work with him on a couple projects and it was always fun and games. He was always around to help anyone with their problems even personal problems. No matter if things were going bad for him he was still there for us.
Diablo67 was one of the greats. A great artist, tweaker, modder, friend, and man. I could have never asked to know a better person. He will live on in our hearts and our Evo's. I know longer use mine as a primary phone but it is still running one of his ROMs.

This totally shatters me. I don't even know how to be right now about this. Diablo was one of my best friends on here. We were in several Dev teams together, but that's nothing. He was just one of the few people, along with Swiper and others that I truly considered a friend. Even while I haven't been so active on XDA recently, we still had a lot of PM conversations. I'll miss him a lot. Much more than i can put into words.
Go with God, my friend ((((((((
I'm at a loss for words.. He was a good friend and an excellent mentor and I'm proud to say I've worked with him. I only wish I had spoke to him more in the last few months.. May he rest in peace.

Well I have been in touch with his girlfriend and planning on sending a donation to help out. If anyone else would like to do the same I will give you the info so you can. His girlfriend has no PayPal so it will need to be sent via snail mail. No one has asked me to do this but I want to help him as he would have done for any of us.
Brother your body may be gone but you will always live in our hearts.

You will be very much missed . Thank you for all that you shared, I learned a lot from you.
R.I.P. Diablo67
I never really got the chance to talk to him much, but from the few times I did here on XDA he was kind and always patient with questions. He was the type of dev that would make it a priority to fix a problem of a single user, or help them troubleshoot.
Also, he taught quite a few of you who helped me learn more about Android and everything that goes with it. So indirectly, he taught more people than he knew.
I'm going to miss seeing his name around here, though his works will live on. All in all, fantastic Dev/chef/modder.
