Hello there,
i am currently using my Ouya a lot for watching videos on the internet. But what really bugs me a lot is that the browser closes itself from time to time, without any error message. Most of the times i get back to where i left off when i start it again, but sometimes it just shows the ouya dev website and i have to look for the video all over again.
Are there any better browsers working with the ouya? Are there any other apps you suggest for watching series?
Greetings
Imho built-in browser sucks. Go and sideload a better one (e.g. maxthon, chrome, opera, etc. ) and for watching videos go ahead and install xbmc with needed plugins.

except from opera
cause it doesnt support the facebook chat so well
Don't butcher music with youtube! That is the worst way to listen to music. Use the music player or get a Spotify account etc. If you want to listen to music via YouTube, you might as well download illegally. It's the same thing.

I was looking for a browser that did a good job with flash video now that I'm on twa's latest jellybean build and Google is abandoning flash with jellybean (TURDS!). Of course you need Flashplayer plugin installed and you can't download it from the Play Store (so get it somewhere else). Stock browser works ok (gets a little unstable). Tried Maxthon, Dolphin, Opera, Chrome, Firefox, Skyfire, and Boat Browser. Boat Browser works flawlessly (except status bar toggle leaves a video shadow). It is a nice fullscreen enabled browser. Fullscreen and stability was what I was primarily looking for. Flash worked on some other browsers I tried but fullscreen either caused freezing, system instability, or didn't work at all. Give it a try. Hope it works well for you. Gotta love your kindle's big screen. Say no to browsers that rob screen space.

Thanks for this. I also noticed that flash player was buggy on the stock browser on JB. Dolphin was slightly better. I'll try your suggestion
Hello everyone. I am having an issue with my Nexus 7 using Google Chrome Browser where it will not stream most online video from a lot of websites. If I go to the verge, or Engadget and try to stream there video reviews I get either an error or the video just freezes. I tried switching user agents to iPad, desktop, etc and still no luck.
When I use my iPad 2 to play the video on those websites it loads up and plays with no issues. I am also having this issue ona lot of other websites I come across.
Is this am android limitation or am I just missing a plug in or something.
Flash isn't supported on Chrome. You need to install latest flash apk and use either AOSP Browser ( you need to sideload this, serach the fourms you will get how to do that) or Firefox Beta , both these browser support flash videos. I have had smooth experience with AOSP browser so would recommend that. If you cant find it let me know.
The iPad doesn't support flash either and plays the videos with no issues. So I don't think flash is the issue. The videos are not flash but I'm not sure what format they are.
Did you try any other browser like Firefox or AOSP Browser whether you are facing same issue?
can you post the website? maybe we can try the site n see if its your device, or something we can help with.
Unless the site supports HTML 5 video you will need to use a different browser and install flash.

Its the videos that are embedded with the page.
I looked at those and also found the videos did not play. This is strange because I can stream flas from other sites (flash apk in Maxthon browser).
The videos played fine for me ( it takes a half a minute before it starts playing ) on both AOSP browser and Firefox beta.
I am using Team EOS nightly 37 + franco kernel r25.
Hi. After all updates done to my note and to YouTube app, streaming still sucks.... is this app related or is something related to my wifi channels ?
Streming problems occur in my home and in my work place.... so the channel option flunks a bit. YouTube Web page seems to work fine....
Confused.........

A good start would be to go to this web site to get the download speeds that your getting at those locations.
You could also install an app called "WiFi analyzer" in the play store to see how strong your WiFi signal is.
.
I've posted a fix here that works perfectly in my private builds, but it's up to a dev to implement it in publically-accessible ROMs.
Try one of Darkman's recent creations.
The youtube app sucks. At work got fiber optic network that pushes 500 MBs and the buffering is horrible, can't even watch a simple 30 sec video without it stopping to buffer.
The easiest thing I did was. Side load the flashplayer apk, I then installed Boat Browser (Free in play store and I have been using that for a couple of yrs now). Once installed Open Boat Browser and select the menu button. In there chose Settings then Page Content Settings. I always change the SET USER AGENT to Firefox, then Enable flash/plug-ins to ALWAYS ON. Now you can go to youtube.com and actually watch a video in HD and not have the loading issue.
The youtube app is working fine for me. Plays 1080p HD video on the fly with no buffering. I using comcast xfinity high speed internet. I do have problems playing the youtube app on my PS3 though. But the app works great on my phone and note tablet.
EDIT:
I take that back, youtube seems to be slow. Not just on my phone and tablet apps but also on my computer desktop browser. Did research and everybody else is experiencing the same thing. After youtube update the way they stream and buffer video, it become slow for everybody! Apparently. Its not just the app though.
It's a hit or miss with me. There are days that it works fine and others where it's stuck buffering ever 10 seconds. Its not my connection because I got a 11 mbps down and 1.3 mbps up.

Hi got my nexus 4 yesterday and I'm very happy with it.
It's my first phone where I don't have the stock browser. With the stock aosp browser I was able to watch videos with an external player (also stock android gallery), it was the only way possible.
Chrome opens a new tab and wants to play the video there but this doesn't work fine, most of the time it doesn't work at all. just reloads all the time but doesn't play a second...
Is there a way to watch videos from websites in chrome (in my case mp4 football videos) with the gallery app? or do I need an other browser?
Please help, if there is no possibility please tell me which browser plays videos with the gallery app. thanks!
