I have read all over these forums that many are having issues sending MMS's.
I have tried numerous android builds. Darkstone's builds are my favorite. I am using a T9193 on ATT in the USA. And I have never successfully sent an MMS. I can receive them.
While doing a speedtest to check my speeds with the new darkstone froyo v2.1 I got on average 1400 down and 15 up. I believe all builds have issues with very slow upload speeds. There lies the issue.
When I attempt to send a 300k pic through MMS the message times out and cannot be sent. Most of us have seen the forever sending but never sends issue. So I attempted to send a 10k pic through MMS. And what do you know, it sent. So I tried another and it sent. If you could keep the larger MMS from timing out they would eventually send.
So the issue is not that we have incorrect APN or MMS settings, it is that the upload speed is just too low at the moment. So when the devs get our upload speed fixxed we will all be able to send MMS messages through android. I hope this sheds some light on the subject of MMS messages not sending.
To answer my own post. After I successfully sent the small 10k messages, I can now send larger MMS messages quickly. What is up with that?
Edit: the new larger MMS pics were not larger in size. They were png images which were also about 10k. False hope.
aye this actually worked lol
interesting. so wifi would be better if we try to send a larger pic mms?
Seems to make no difference when using wifi. I tried to send a 300k mms using wifi but it was "sending" for an hour before I finally cancelled it myself. Quite possibly at least with ATT that MMS messages send over cellular data anyways.
I've also got issues sending mm messages except I'm on t mobile and using at mobile issued HD2.
I'm using mattc's 1.5b build and both incoming and outgoing messages are capped to 8kb.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Mine receive and send fine. I'm on T-Mobile using darkstone v2.1

i'm with you. i'm on att and i can't send, receive is completely fine. i'll try sending a small pic and seeing if it works
EDIT: just tried a 39.2KB pic and no go..........THEN tried a < 5KB pic and BOOM! sent!
EDIT 2: still can't send anything over 10KB even after multiple sends. definitely has to do with upload speed and/or latency
i cant remember where i saw it...but there was one of the devs that enabled ppp data in the smd1 and this was supposedly making data work perfectly..no packet loss at all up or down. This was awhile back and dont know why this feature never got implemented in any of the builds. I bet this would fix our problem. I'm gonna do some searching and see if i can find what im talking about here..lol
*edit* Here is the link, dont know how we can get our hands on this: http://git.linuxtogo.org/?p=groups/...it;h=2e866a70a6eea4a9a31d4954572ba100151513d5
I had issues with sending MMS until I deleted the appropriate APN and recreated it. Even though the settings appeared to be identical.
It's worth a shot if you haven't already tried it.
After I update my Nexus 4 to Android 4.2.1, I can't send MMS.
After I click the send, there is a toast notification told me the service not available or balabala.
I am wondering whether you have the same problem for your Nexus 4 after updating to Android 4.2.1?
Thanks.

I was having the same problem but was able to resolve it. Are you using the stock messaging app or 3rd party? Any 3rd party app I was using (GOSMS, Handcent, ChompsSMS) would not send mms but then I tried it through the stock and it worked perfectly. Something happens when trying to send through 3rd party app where it decides not to work. Not sure why.

That's for stock MMS. But I after reboot the phone it seems good, but when the receiver received the photo, it was distorted.
If I use whatsapp, it worked well.
Not sure what happend for Android 4.2.1
Looks like 3rd party text apps like GoSms have to recode mms for 4.2.1. I have the same issues.
Also on GoSms "private box" doesn't work anymore.

I am having some weird intermittent MMS issues as well - stock 4.2.1 N4. When I attempt to send a pic, it perpetually says 'sending', but seemingly never gets sent. I am also not receiving most MMS pics from others, from what I can tell? Solution anyone?!?

Has anyone been able to fix this? I'm completely unable to send MMS right now. It isn't working through the stock app, I've changed the APN setting to multiple different configurations I found, pulled and put in the SIM card, no cigar. This is driving me mad. I'm on T-Mobile if that's of any assistance.
is this still an issue with the latest update? also who has group mms checked?
It's the same for me on my GNEX with GOSMS - I cannot send or receive MMS. I'll try stock sms and report back.

It's working fine on stock messaging app - I have written to the devs and suggest you all do the same!
Can not receive or send MMS on at&t media net plan. Also can not do group messaging but I'm still researching to see if that is a normal problem with Android.
*****
update - for whatever reason i had to create two different APNs for MMS and Internet and this allowed me to get group messaging and picture messages. let me know if there are other ATT people on MEdiaNet who need assistance in this.
Same here with 4.2.1 and Swisscom provider... :crying:
I had the MMS issue where it would say "sending" and remain in that state. I also could not receive MMS messages. Even on sick messaging. I called AT&T last night and they had to put my new IMEI number in their system. I had to turn off my phone while they sent a refresh OTA. Turned out back on and all good.

Finally it works! The problem was a entry that cm10 has added to the gprs settings APN-TYPE default, supl. I deleted ",supl" and voilà, it works perfect (entry came back but since then it works). i like my phone! :good:
What exactly does the "supl" mean anyway in that setting?
i can't seem to send any picture messages, im on rogers , it just 'hang's at sending...
I'm rooted and on stock ROM, it usually sends MMS while on 3g but on wifi it doesn't, it's just stuck on sending... Help?

This whole cant send on wifi thing is new to me. It shouldnt matter if youre on wifi or not. It still uses the cell tower to send/retrieve MMS.
same here, but a buy newer fone
I have found that on att I can only use stock app to send Mms. Hopefully a third party one will work soon.

this should fix your issues
I like many of you had this very same issue. Until fixing it tonight and testing I thought I had the elite of apn's my data went from .02 Mbps to 10mbps when I removed the WAP.Cingular stock APN. And replaced it with what users on here were using and it was a insane difference. However I never did have MMS working so I was searching all over and a post on reddit had linked my to this site on another sub forum. So I tried it and bam my MMS is working. Now if there was a way to fix the MMS slideshow thing without adding an app let me know
Here's the link to fix your issues guys:

hope you find this helpful as I did.

Yes you need to create a new apn. Mine and my gf was same but I made new apn and it working flawlessly. Make new apn similar to stock except put nothing in apn type field. Stock one has default, mms,* the one you make should be blank. I also changed name to T-Mobile US LTE. I just realized I could have take screen shot and avoided this sigh.

I was having the same problem with Chomp. Used your APN fix and seems only to work as long as I keep chomp from allowing message sizes to be no more than 300K. Usually it cuts down the resolution to something like 120k and the resolution just isn't so great still. Any time a message was sent larger than 300k it would send out, but upon recieving it I would get an error.
Other folks experiencing the same ?
This is what I had to do for GoSMS. I don't see issues with image resolution as big MMS is sent via their own service and MMS under 300Mb is sent via the network.
The solution is actually to change the APN Protocols to IPv4/IPv6. Everything else can be the same.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50473984&postcount=30
I've used the search function and tried many different suggested APN settings to no avail.
I'm on straighttalk/tmobile, running stock non-rooted 4.3 rom. Since the 4.2 OTA update -a month/6weeks ago?- I have not been able to send photos through text messaging. I receive them no problems, just cant send.
Now when I attempt to send a photo with the messaging app I get the following message: "can't send message right now. Too many unsent muti-media messages."
I'd like to find a work around, since switching to Tmobile directly will cost $10 a month more at the minimum.
Thanks guys!

Hey everyone.
For weeks now I have been having an issue with sending mms to anyone, nor can I receive. Im on the Koodo network here in Canada. I have made sure that my apn settings were correct. I mainly use GoSMS and when I select the image, type a message and hit send it just disappears. No sending arrow icon not even the picture itself.
I have also tried in the stock messaging app. But when try the same task, it actually crashes. My gf has a nexus 5 and she is on the Bell network and having the same issues.
Im not really sure what steps to take next. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Try Sliding Messages. It allows you to set APN in the app.

Yes so does gosms. Not sure apn is the issue as it seems like it can't even attempt to send.
