[Q] falshing stock rom - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the N9005 on o2 UK with build number JSS15J.N9005XXUDMJ7
It has o2 branding that i want to get rid of and it has been unlocked by o2
I dont want to root or install a custom rom, can i just flash BTU-N9005XXUDMJ7-20131106115521.zip to have a clean unbranded and unrooted rom?
would it affect the unlock?
thanks!

I have the same firmware and mine is unbranded UK unlocked. I believe it's the baseband number that is different as sim lock falls under a different catergory rather than just the ROM itself. (Although I may be wrong!)

thanks, forgetting about the simlock then. is it as simple as flashing that rom to debrand the phone?

Not too sure tbh, I think you'd need to possibly try BTU Unbranded firmware as it may get shot of the splash screen... But there may be incompatibility issues, I say may because I do not know if it'll 100% work.

Anyone else done this?

Just instal btu rom with odin 9 and make full reset.

[Q] Rogers Xperia Play, rooted on 2.3.3 on UK firmware. Want to restore to factory

I have a Rogers Xperia Play that I am using unlocked, rooted on AT&T. I haven't unlocked the bootloader.
I flashed to the .184 UK firmware as per this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116090
So now I'm on
Android Version: 2.3.3
Build number 3.0.1.A.0.145
Model Number: R800i (was R800a before flashing the firmware).
Rooted.
My question is: if I want to factory reset the phone, do I go the regular way of going into Settings --> Privacy --> Factory Data Reset? Or do I do something else since I am rooted?
TIA!
Would also like to know this aswell.
and what if a new firmware comes out? Can we just update OTA? or do we have to factory reset and redo the whole root process?
If its already been flashed with the UK firmware and you do a factory reset it would most likely just revert back to UK factory, that's what makes the most sense to me

That's what I needed to know. I've known some android devices to get stuck in boot-loop or even bricked if you do a standard factory data reset and if the phone is rooted, so I wanted to know in this case what would work.
yep, everything worked fine for me after the factory data reset! I only lost my root access, that's all
Well if you want to return it to official rogers state you will have to flash the rogers FTF file.

Will I use Flashtool for that?
I thought you could use the SEUS to restore it?
Yes you'll use the flashtool to flash back to Rogers, you can repair with seus but it will just fix what you got on the phone it won't go find the Rogers fw and flash it it goes by region whatever region fw you have now seus will fix only that

Stay with the BTU ones, the ones from Carrier get updated very very slowly. Even my Carrier didn't receive 3 á 4 updates for i9505.
Ok, but my point being that the carrier ones have received 2/3 updates in the time since my last one, my last one being April...

the latest firmware for T-mobile (EE) is ME2 http://www.hotfile.com/dl/223630332/b11f79b/I9505XXUAME2_I9505EVRAMDB_EVR.zip.html but for the unbranded BTU is MDM (older)
you can flash any new unbranded firmware MEA or MF8
Would I be able to flash that t mobile firmware? Thanks.

You can use this app to change your CSC. However, two things.
A. You need to be rooted beyond XXELLA
B. Your selected rom needs to support multi csc
( tried that before but doesn't work as its unrooted and on stock software

It should work, but you need to root if you're on XXELLA or above
Sorry not that much of a techie :silly: what is XXELLA? So it doesn't need to be rooted? Because when i press change CSC it comes up with com.android.preconfig not found on your device and takes me to the dialer with *#272*1759# already punched in?? After ringing that I get Connection problem or invalid MMI code.

Xxella would be a 4.1.2 firmware.
It would look like your stock setup doesn't have a multi CSC setup so I'm not sure if you're able to change to BTU

if I am not wrong you need:
(1) be rooted to change the CSC
(2) after that you can use the tool mentioned before and/or flash a BTU rom
or maybe easier:
just flash the newest 4.3 rom version (you can do this without root as well I think)
Flash the latest 4.3 rom for the UK, using odin and following the guide in sticky thread.
Factory reset from recovery, reboot and csc should match the firmware.

I'm pretty sure this method will default the CSC to "KOR"
You want to flash the ELL4 U.K. firmware from the stock firmware thread. Download the S2/S3 CSC changer app from the play store and set the CSC to BTU.
This will factory reset the device, so make sure you have your important files backed up.
Then proceed to flash MK6 4.3. Now everything will match.

If you flash a untouched 4.3 rom thru odin it does not void the warranty. It will read official in Odin. At least on my phone it did. Like they said earlier they should have a uk version floating around somewhere. Otherwise just leave it alone and wait for the update. I hope that helps

Removing Branding?

I've just received a Note 3 I bought online as sim free unlocked, when its arrived I noticed it has an O2 splash screen
Is there anyway to remove this and put a stock rom on?
ODIN. Just grab the unbranded firmware from the same country (or region) off Sammobile and flash it over the Branded one. If you stick with the official firmware this won't trigger KNOX.

Yes, of course.
First, you should know what CSC you are now. Use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ to get this info.

If you wipe the phone fully afterwards (through recovery), then yes. Otherwise the CSC stays O2.

And since he clearly mentioned it was an O2 phone, which isn't from the US(which is the only country selling branded phones, the EU for one forbid it by law.), in his first post, linking to your own app can be considered self promotion.
(I do, however, commend you for making that app for the people who can't use the dialer codes.)

Debrand i9506 android 4.3

Hello,
I want to delete the branding of my i9506 with latest android 4.3 running on it.
It has the newer bootloader which is locked i guess and I don´t know now, how to make it unbranded.
It is running the latest android 4.3 firmware with t-mobile branding. i`ve read something, about flashing the 4.3 firmware of the nordic countries, which is without brand as i know.
anyone can help me pls?
Thank you
You can't. The unique way for unlock ur phone is buying a unlock code, unlocking it by IMEI :highfive:
