Nova Launcher not working well with G2? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I installed Nova Launcher and the knock knock feature to turn off the screen is not working
Any work around?
SJ

Hi,
Double tap on the notification bar area...

Below is a little app you can add to assist Nova. Install this from the link below at the Play Store, then set Nova up that a Double Tap will execute the app. You can double tap any where on the screen, you are not limited to just the Notification bar.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cillinsoft.scrnoff

Double-tapping the notification bar will work. You can also install the Screen Off app from the Play Store, here. Make sure to open the Screen Off Settings and activate it. Then in Nova Settings, go to Gestures and Buttons-->Double tap, select the Apps tab, scroll down and select the Screen Off app. Knock off should work just as it used to.

Turn off screen double tap

The reason for this is to simplify for G2 users that miss the double tap turn off screen in other than the default launcher.
Lock Screen
It's tiny 21KB and has no ads.
For Apex Launcher
1. Install Lock Screen
2. Go to Apex Settings\Behavior Settings\Desktop double tap
3. Choose "Launch app" and choose Lock Screen.
It's about the same with other launchers that are like Apex Launcher.
There are many other apps out there that do the same thing but i found that many are little slow with turning off the screen.
Note: If you can't install it with Play Store there are alternative ways but that one should be available for everyone.
To disable the turn of animation:
The only app I know is the Xposed Framework module XBlast Tools.
I'm using it with CloudyFlex 1.4 and it's working perfectly.

Double tap notification bar to unlock and lock

Just thought I'd share with you all a little something I found. You can double tap the notification bar to lock or unlock your phone, without needing to use the power button
Or if you use Nova to set gestures double tap with screen off app. Same as LG launcher.

Yep and you can even double tap an empty part of the homescreen to lock and unlock as well!
Its one of the features of the G3
Double tap on/off with the G2, Flex and now G3 is one of the cool features LG has been doing.

sweet , thanks
Tweaksbox also has a double tap home setting. I use that to turn off the screen.

double tap with novq

Hey guys ... I dont know if anyone else already posted about this, but u can use lgs double to switch off screen in nova launcher by just tapping the notification area twice.
Have fun
Yes sir, tap twice on notification bar.
I use GMD gesture swipe up on corner top work well
Download the free app "Screen off" from the Playstore and assign it as gesture in Nova settings.
If you have paid nova launcher version you can assign double tap on screen gesture to hibernate+screen lock (greenify). Works perfect for me.
Also, the double tap on status bar to lock works within every app.
I created a task and assign it on double tap

[Q] G2 and custom launchers. Are there any that support double tap to sleep?

I've tried loads of launchers right now and none of them seem to make the phone go to sleep if I double tap the screen.
I know that you can double tap the notification bar to make it go to sleep but that's terrible. It's uncomfortable to try and do so since my hands are not that big.
Nova Prime, add Screen Off app on Gestures in Nova Settings.
Most do not by default.
Action Launcher does have an option to turn screen off in settings. I use it on my Nexus 7.
Nova has options for Double Tap, but requires a "Screen Off" app from the Play Store. Pretty simple and works great.
I have found other launchers that have "Screen Off" as options too. They just aren't enabled by default.
Action launcher 3, gestures setting (double/triple tap on screen or on home button, swipes, etc.).
Just use Lock Screen App and problem solved. It works flawlessly.

If you are on AOSP, there should be SlimActions (and screenoff there) included, which might be used in f.e Nova's launcher double tap gesture
Nova. It just works, no additional app needed. Double tap on notification bar.
That was not the question. Double tab on notification bar is different from tapping somewhere on the screen.
Smart launcher + secure settings dose the job for me

Notification bar wont pull down via gesture

Hello,
I always use a gesture "one finger pull down" to pull down the notification shade, but it is not working for me on the S8 has anyone noticed the same?
I am currently using action launcher 3, but none of the launchers seem to do it for me.
Update, action launcher has been updated and it works now.
Yes. I have the same issue.
Settings > Advanced Features > Enable "Finger Sensor Gestures"
it's working for me, clear your fingerpring and try.. .... mine is S8+
It's not the fingerprint sensor that's not working it's the gesture on the home screen of pulling down. Normally I can swipe down anywhere in the home screen and pull down notifications and quick actions. Right now I have to get my finger all the way to the top. I have tried making the gesture a double tap as well as a two finger pull and nothing works.
I have exactly the same issue! I submitted a bug request with action launcher, in case its a problem with that app. Perhaps you should do that too?
It's not the app. I'm fortunate enough to have Verizon which still allowed the Bixby button to be remapped. (the first time I'm actually happy they are slow at rolling out updates lol). That being said I remapped that button to open notifications and its fine. However using Nova launcher which uses what I assume is the same accessibility interception doesn't work. Hopefully a work around is found so this phone is more usable with one hand.
Definitely an issue with 3rd party launchers and the s8 fingerprint sensor

I have the same issue. Guess i have to get used to use the fingerprint swipe, until they fix it.
Working for me as well.
Did you activate launcher's service in settings>accessibility>services?
Its disabled by default, you have to enable it in the settings, but to be honest, that feature is useless unless you are missing fingers on your hand. and youll end up smudging your camera in the process.
Yeah sure did... Still mot working
I have the same issue using Action Launcher 3. I also have the app ticked in Accessibility.
Everyone who is saying it IS working is misunderstanding the issue. It's not a case of swiping the fingerprint sensor not working, it's a case of launchers that use shortcuts to access the notification shade. For years, I've used Action Launcher 3 where a single finger swipe down OF THE HOMESCREEN brings down the notification shade - that doesn't work anymore. And given the height of the S8 duo, this is the time we need it the most.
It does not work because swiping up/down now brings up app drawers. It is by design. Maybe try disabling app drawers a la iOS style?
You just need to enable Action Launcher in Settings->Accessibility scroll all the way down to services.
(I hope those is the right names, my phone is not set to english)
Looks like Nova Launcher Prime does work for me as long as Accessibility is activated so this problem is mostly just a Action Launcher problem. I remember at one point he moved away from needing accessibility to utilize this feature and maybe its default setting is to not utilize it any longer. I really want to stick with Action Launcher so hopefully the developer will come through with the old way through accessibility.

Ok found a solution but its annoying. If you have Action Launcher and Nova Launcher (Prime may or may not be needed) you can still use action launcher primarily but you'll need to utilize Nova Launcher's action short cuts. So here goes...
1. Open Action Launcher Settings
2. Go to shortcuts
3. Go to swipe down
4. Assign single finger to "Shortcut" > Nova Action > Select Expand Notifications in this menu.
??? profit

GENIUS.
I found another solution as well! works very good.
Install the app "drop down status bar"(WangQi) from play store and then use this app as a shortcut for that gesture you want.
