Hello everyone,
I already have tried the following roms:
- Taboonay
- Flexreaper
- Lightspeed
- Icylicious
All them are considered stable releases but I got some bugs, all roms got particularities like: Can't install all apps, running slow, battery drain, slow fps, etc.
Maybe I've installed a wrong Kernel for these roms?
Which one do yours recommend to me? I'm looking for a stable rom and not many features.
Actually I've reverted to 3.2.1 using Thor Rom v14.2 and I was glad but this release is a kinda old and I still looking for updates, like chrome browser and some ICS new features.
I appreciate your help.
Thanks anyway
Use flex reaper 10 it has a modded or tweaked kernel but the others to my knowledge use pretty much stock kernel. I find flexreaperthe best as of now till acer has released ics for reals. I don't get bad fps except buttons on shadowgun and I'm an android gamer.

Give thors v96 ics a try. Other than the camera not working. It is very stable. V126 is a little rocky. I am waiting for the next update to give it another shot. I am running v96 again until then.
I'm using Flexreaper R10 by Civato and this rom is wonderful! Obviously, like every leaked version, has some bugs, but not too much and it's stable enough.
With tweaked kernel in R10 release the quadrant score is about 2700, not bad for a leaked..
Everything is working good, also the camera,it's not up to the best working but it's good enough
For more info take a look to civato's thread

I really like Lighspeed 4.3 + civato's tweaked kernel.... lag free combo.
As you can see what I am using, I like the Acer ring with mods with Acer print and lock screen, just watch out for Beta's. Use one that is one or two versions old, good luck
Acer Iconia A500 Rooted Running Flexreaper R7 ICS 4.0.3
currently under Thor 133, everything is fine.
i wanna give a try to flexreaper last one too, seems quite good
icy ics the best so far, very stable... tested for month no problem so far
Curently on flexreaper very stable , tried icylicious had some quirks but nothing worth mentioning

Please do. I can't fix what I don't know about, and since there are so few posts about "supposed" problems with it as opposed to the other lengthy threads with mostly complaints about stability, I'd like to hear all about them
humm best rom i do not know for sure.. Only trouble i have with any of them is THAT I CANT RUN Them all at the same time.. Maybe i need a few more tablets..
But i do think its in bad taste to start a thread asking What is better . READ THE FORUM THREAD of each rom try a few and decide for yourself . Dont make it sound like a competition. all the DEV/ Cooks work together in this Forum. the uses should do the same..
Hi all... by the way Just been spending lots of time with the kid the last few weeks. HE Left today off to College. WHOOWEEE no kids on the house. Med school will last many years as well.
I was currently using last Flexreaper version but some apps stop working randomly. Someone got something like this before?

Dear erica_renee,
I'm not trying to make it sounds like a competition.
I've just asked which one is the most STABLE rom and not the Best.
As you can see, I'm not looking for features. I already have given a chance for some roms but they got some bugs .
I've made a simple question , so if you dont have any information to share here, dont post nonsense things and stop flame on my topic.

If you post something like this you need to give info on what apps and if you followed installation instructions TO THE LETTER.
I only got one app that closed not FC once a week and that is Asus Taskmanager , it doesn't crash just stops and restarts.
Just for information: From time to time, I had with FlexReaper some FCs with GPS apps, like Google Maps. Then I found out that the FCs were related to SetCPU, which I still had on my tab, although it was without function. After deinstalling SetCPU I never observed any FCs.
Best regards, maris
Most of the time if you are experiencing stability issues with these ICS ROMs is because of something else, whether it is an app that hasn't been optimized for ICS, or old junk from previous apps. Other causes could be a bad flash or some steps being left out when wiping a previous ROM. For the most part, if everything is done right, all the ROMS that these great chefs have cooked up are really solid. I never have issues with mine.

I'll have to agree so far I haven't had any constant problems with civato's roms. As of now their the best out there. From what I've experienced unless its in alpha or beta stages, something you did or didn't do causes your problems. even if its just an app you use or how you restore data.

i recently installed FLEX REAPER for iconia a100, it runs incredibly fast and stable but i also notice my battery is draining like hell... and with ICS stock not...
i have wifi on and Hd widgets set to up date every hour and nothing else...
i turned the tablet at 7 am with 100% and now is 75% !!! with stock rom the tablet was at 90%...
even with that i like the rom...
It's been about 4 or 5 months since I flashed CM7 on my Kindle Fire and I am having some problems with it rebooting spontaneously (at least I haven't noticed any patterns) and some slight lag in my launcher loading apps in files and sometimes even uninstalling apps (GOex Launcher). I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem, mainly with rebooting randomly on CM7, or if I did something wrong when flashing it?
Also, if there's been a newer release of CM for the Kindle that I overlooked or missed, that could also explain the problem as well, I think...
Any thoughts, comments, or experiences would be helpful. Thanks.
Also, I've noticed a bit more posts than a few months ago about CM9 for KF. Has anyone had the experience of comparing the two? Is one more stable now than the other? I was told (at the time I flashed) that CM7 was more stable but am wondering if that's still the case. If you've used both or particularly had a great experience with one over the other, I'd like to hear what you think.

I am currently running AOKP Build 35 by OxD34D, and it is probably the best ROM I have every run on any of my Android devices. Everything is super solid, virtually no bugs. I say this, however, my experience with CM7 is limited on this device. I would say from the forums it would seem that CM7 and CM9 are very similar as far as stability goes. A lot of the thanks goes to the kernel devs who have made great strides in getting this device to where it is now. So make sure to give them some thanks for their works as well.

I'm running gedeROM (I think that's how its spelled) CM9 and its friggin amazing. Blows CM7 out of the water, IMO.
I think the general consensus is that the CM9 based ROMs are better than the CM7 ROMs at this point. They are not perfect, but neither was CM7, which don't forget, is really a phone OS, not a tablet OS. The launchers are better and I think the app support is better as well.

HWA works for any ICS based ROM (CM9 or AOKP) as long as it has the 3.x kernel, which I think pretty much all of them do now. While there are still some random issues (looks like more app-centric (HBO Go and Hulu+ especially)), it tends to work well for most folks with Netflix and YouTube HD. It does seem to help if you do a full clean on your device (factory reset, both caches, system) before switching ROMs.

I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic or what exactly your reply meant (inflection is hard to hear within text) so sorry if you think I posted this question in the wrong forum but I thought the development from CM7 to CM9 would be best discussed by developers. It looks like I'm not the only one, but if you feel that strongly about it, I'll keep it mind next time. Thanks for your opinion.

Yep the development section is for actual development and releases of roms, kernels etc. Wasnt trying to be a ****, just tired of people posting discussion threads in the development forums. The Developers also read the general section. Its not my opinion, its a forum rule.

Actually you can get Hulu+ to work with the latest kernel. Search the forums for Hulu, and someone made a modified version that bypasses the device not supported screen. I even have swype working on it too. At this point there's no reason not to use ICS.

I think the gedeROM is the best at the moment.
but don't forget shut down in recovery or push the power button for 10 sec. before the battery is dead.
with all the rom's with kernel 3.0
That is my question.
I thought that if we copy the files for touchpad from gingerbread and paste them into ics roms, we could get touchpad working as in gingerbread :O
I would try that but, i dont know which are those files

Well I tested NOVA 3 and Dead Space since Gameloft and EA games are the chief non-working ones. Both games worked. GTA 3 was a different matter though so it seems only Rockstar games pose an issue in his ROM.
I had issues with games on the Sony Beta ROM, as did Sony. That being the reason for no official ICS release. XDarkmario has fixed this issue that even Sony couldnt work out

@ bamsbax
Just copying the needed files won´t do it since they´re connected to SEMC Framework which is not available on Roms like CM. And porting this would be too much work. Maybe someone can hack those files and make it run on Custom Roms.
That´s the only thing which keeps me from trying different Roms. Maybe devs should work on this matter first before doing a lot of roms (no offense, okay?). Game compatibility is important, especially for this device.

really i think CM is overdoing it.. i can't remember the last great feature they added..
and they take a real long time to release a stable build.. maybe people decided to stay with
root stock rom and use the xposed framework with gravity box.. and maybe a custom kernel.
Last time I was running CM11 the audio would periodically freeze/buzz while watching videos. Can anyone confirm if this is still the case?

I think uoure right. Maybe people have some afraid to root their devices.
Im still like CM always did. Theyre the best in custom roms.
Lets keep this good topic live. Thank you all.
I'm actually surprised that this thread is this short :| been on cm11 just yesterday and i've encountered 1 lockup, dozens of audio/video glitches with mx player
The buzz noise is directly related to the kernel.
Flash glitches new kernel v121 or newer and it'll completely disappear.
Just fyi, there is maybe 1-2 that work on the devices, kinda a **** move to complain about stable releases. Just because it's goggles new x.y.z Doesn't even mean that piece of crap is actually stable.
With that said since day one of nightlies minus kernel buzz, it's been rock solid. WiFi only here though.
I'm using the 4-21 CM 11 nightly and it works great. ElementalX has a CAF kernel now which is a huge plus. I opted to try the beta Xposed Framework that is CM compatible and so far so good. I added Gravity Box as well to get a working PIE function as well as a few other extras. No complaints from me. CM 11 for Flo has come a long way.
Note: Trying Xposed and Gravity Box may or may not work for you when running this ROM. I recommend having a Nandroid backup in your recovery just in case you try them.
I don't know why but no caf kernels work with my official cm
I even tried aosp kernels with no luck

AFAIK Openelec will not run on any Android device. IMO CM11 is the Premier ROM for all anyway. PAC ROMs are pretty awesome too. Since Ouya is shying away from hardware, and focusing on the Ouya OS, IDK if we will see much more Dev work.

No need to dual boot. Just install the 4 apks for Ouya Anywhere after you get CM11 up and running. Got the best of both worlds on mine, and it runs smoother then before.
