There must be some new api's in ICS that allow him to implement the touchpads without limiting the app version to 2.3
Great news.
Yep. Mupen64plus although still beta needs to be somewhat more unique if it wants to compete now with N64oid :S
How about fpse? I never knew why the dev hasn't implemented analog support since there is an api and a tutorial on dev world?

Schttruck has an Xperia PLAY, he said there is a chance of him implanting after ICS.

It'll be a while yet though, no ICS for a while =(

Exactly my thoughts on the matter. Devs who actively interact with the community usually do a better job than those who don't. I've seen many disappear after only finishing half of the job. Those were the ones who stayed in the shadows in most cases.

So it'll be restricted to ICS only... while Mugen64PlusAE already has it available to everyone?
Not sure why... but that really pisses me off. I hope paulscode bends yongzh over now Mugen64 isn't limiting this to only ICS, and all that really needs is a UI and a way to load different games to knock N64oid off.
isn't n64oid based on mupen64plus anyways? i thought the only difference what the removal of sdl, a gui and an input plugin.

Mupen64plus-AE and n64oid are both built off of the emulator Mupen64plus. Both mupen64plus-AE and n64oid have slight different features from each other but keep in mind n64oid had been developed for alot longer so thats why it has some more stuff. Also Paul kept Mupen open source so if he ever decides to stop adding to it then any other developer can pick it and and continue where he left off, N64oid is closed source so if yonghz ever stops updating it that means it will never get any more updates ever since hes the only one with the code.
Yes Should I make One for Us Folks for Gaming Il make One for .62/69 I cant find a .42 download If you have One Il make One for Locked Bootloaders .
Basically Il make a rom On basis of this (Based on Sony Framework)
*Supercharged
*Launcher Locked In memory
*Turbo 3G
*Baseband -36
*KAK (Kickasskernalizer)
*Bloatware Removed all
*Google Apps (Market etc)
*Xperia Launcher & PS Pocket
*No-Frils CPU pre-Installed
*OI file manger Pre-Installed
*Remove all Crapware
*Try to stop market Downloading the Crapware Again
Ideas Comment Below:
Ideas for more feautures Commet below please
Name Of rom ? I thought GamerBread
Wow this sounds awesome I like the sound of it. if no frills comes preinstalled then it must support overcocking right? Yeah, definately make it compatible with Doomkernel and try and overclock the gpu. Maybe you could incorporate the playstation buttons as a way of properly controling it, like the xmb. Maybe just "GameBread" for the name. Shame you can't make it for .42 (thats me lol) would have been so cool. maybe it could come preinstalled with a bunch of emulators (Like gba and stuff like that)
If it's bootloader-locked, there's no overclock available. Same goes for anything related to the kernel: bootloader-locked devices can't have modifications done to the kernel.
But They Can Change ther Governer,
Plus I'l make it Smooth No choppy Apps

Yes Il Find a .42 Download But Im going to Have to See about those EMU's are they Free?
Links anyone for Gamboid.
A Gaming ROM would be nice, but I don't see the point of making a ROM with just that... I already did all you listed in my Play and the performance is pretty much the same.
That does sound pretty cool. I'm not sure I understand the advantages/disadvantages of different basebands though and .69 vs. .64 vs. .42 etc., but it sounds like you're trying to optimize for the best Gingerbread base to support a smooth running system for gaming and all the standard stuff, which is cool.
Previously, on my Nexus One, I was willing to roll with CyanogenMod and non-stock customizations and all that, but now on my Xperia Play, gaming is a big factor as well - and from what I've seen, non-stock Roms like CyanogenMod lose a bit here - the Spider Man game from Gameloft failed to launch last time I was running CyanogenMod, so I've gone stock-based. I've also heard game compatibility isn't all there yet for ICS and there is still the debate whether an optimized and reliable Gingerbread system is better for a user than a new ICS rom that may not be as reliable/optimized yet.
So I think it may be a good idea, and I do like the GamerBread name!

Overclocking for locked bootloader is possible, but would take work, as locked bootloaders can not flash custom kernel, someone would have to compile overclock module for stock kernel.

Hi guys i am making a rom request thread for wildfire. I searched for this type of thread but it was not present for our wildfire buzz so i am making one. The purpose of this thread is allow users have their favourite rom on our small but powerful beast.
So feel free to request a rom.
Keep In Mind That
- Gingerbread/CM7 based Roms will be fully stable
- Ice cream sandwich/CM9 based roms will have some issues (NO youtube HQ video, No native video recording, No panorama camera)
- Jellybean/CM10 based roms can now be ported. They will have no native camera and camcorder and other minor bugs. Dont complain if they are laggy.
- Dont ask for roms already present for wildfire
- For best compatiblity look for a rom designed for a phone with below specs
- QVGA (240 x 320) resolution
- Arm v6
- LDPI ( Low pixel density)
- Roms from high end phones can also be ported to wildfire but they need alot of resizing and fixing so expect bugs.
List of phones that are best to port roms to wildfire
- samsung galaxy mini
- samsung galaxy fit
- lg optimus me
- htc tatoo
- sony ericsson xperia x10 mini
- sony ericsson xperia x10 mini pro (not sure about this because it has a hardware qwerty keyboard)
Searching for more phones
Thanks, now lets get started
Any wp7 rom ?

htc explorer is 320×480,that's mdpi not ldpi. And it has an armv7 professor, unlike our armv6..so it would be pretty hard and time consuming to port those roms but certainly not impossible.
Yes!
I just asked myself why someone not make a rom that is ugly ugly ugly (ok not really) But actually not much good looking but speedy
anyway...
I dont like roms that are based on stable cm 7.2 coz of sound bug that obviously no one experiencing except me, i dont even try those rom coz i know how its gonna be
My mainly problem with roms is that ppl try to make it good looking and not so fast. I like very simple, not fully minimal look but close to it.
It can look like that word with four letters, first is "S" and last is "T" you know... if its fast and stable, im satisfied
And my problem also is that im a bit crazy, i dont like waiting when launching apps lol which is very slow on wildfire.
So, rom i would like to see is, based on CM7 2013 nightly, Have included app2sd script, so no need for link2sd, and also can have as optional (or not ) script or how you call it... ram compache... SWAP partition on SD card like i dont know 500 or 250mb... (Actually it is my latest discovery... ok ill explain. I read some things about swap, and that other things, how someone use it others dont, there is no difference etc. So i decided to try it with "ROEHSOFT RAM-EXPANDER - ROOT" app. I gave about 450MB swap space, and it works. I launch application once and its there, much faster than launching it again and again because android kills it when im on low ram, of course. I heard that my SD card will not last much, i dont care SD cards are cheap these days. Still testing will open thread latter, maybe)
I forgot what i wanted to say actually...

look to port jb roms,we first need to have a working jb base rom.And we dont have any,so they can't be ported.
We are having various ics roms just because there's a source built cm9 by ErwinP.

OK so it looks like we have no more kernel devs as of now. (Wedgess is busy and wont be updating the play I think). So I just wanted to ask if there was anyone left working on the xperia play who knows how the make kernels compile/decompile and edit. I'm going to start using the kitchen tool and some other tools from around xda. Already got kitchen set up. But I'm just going to mess around with editing some jb kernels since I'm stuck on that to see what I can do. So if there's anyone else with experience just wanted to know in case I had some questions or if they could help out. This is sort of a question but I thought general would fit it better

Yes that would be great but the problem is finding someone that knows how to do it or can help an inexperienced person do it. I would rather add multi boot to lupus v13 because for some reason its the only kernel that works on my phone. Whatever wedgess changed between v8 and 9 I need to know so I can do the same for other kernels because whatever it is its the reason it works for me. The problem is the change log is too large for me to figure out

Good luck!
From the look of some posts on this thread, if I were Wedgess or Doom I would take some offence to the way people are reacting here...
For starters, Doom hasn't given up on the play and there are multiple people including him who are trying to port the 3.6 (I think) Kernel to the play which will open many doors in to performance and other additions to our device.
@wedgess has made fantastic Kernels for our device with every version of Android available to us - I fail to see why a new Kernel would be required? Especially when development is underway to port the new Kernel to our devices.
@DooMLoRD has also been working on our device for years, not to mention all the other devices he works with. He is also the reason most of the other Kernel developers have been able to make their Kernels for the Play as most of their work is based on Doom's. You should all cut him some slack! He said he would be working on porting the new Kernel, and I have no reason to believe he wont be able to achieve this. People just need to be more patient, things like these take time.
On another note, it's great that you want to try your hand at Kernel Development abdel12345 - I personally have only done minor tweaks myself. If you manage to get into it a fair bit, perhaps you'll be able to help Doom and the others with porting the new Kernel. There's a thread on it somewhere in the development section - unfortunately at the moment I don't think they are able to get it to compile though.
I'm sorry I didn't mean any. Offence to anyone I was just wondering if there was anyone else because I know wedgess it'd very busy and doom as well since they both work on lots of other devices. I just wanted to. Try and see if anyone else would be able to help a little or give it a shot. Again I'm sorry u didn't mean to offend anyone

My post wasn't directed at you - No worries.
My aim wasn't to seem 'aggressive', but more to make people aware of the current situation which is that things are in place and work is being done. It'll just take time before we get any positive results.
Personally, I've come to terms with the fact that this device is now miles past its expiration date so I'm not holding out for any sort of improvement no matter what the outcome.
@spizzy: no, the mogami board devs are porting the 3.4 kernel, for now only the smultron is at a really good point (the 3.0.8 kernel also is stable for every mogami device and the anzu, only for play/phoenix we haven't so much work done)
@all: the kernel development guys isn't dead, is only rally slow, cause doom and FXP has a LOT of device, and wedgess as he already said is working on the s3's pac; also, it is completaly useless to wake up a day and think "oh, why we don't open a new thread to see if there is someone that now how to develop a kernel?", think a moment, if someone that know a lot of kernel development and have the time to work on it (and also the intenctions to work on it), why he hasn't already started to do something (at least a development thread)?

I wasn't looking for someone who was a pro at making kernels. I was looking for people with little experience that would like to attempt messing with making/editing a kernel just to make some simple changes so that when I attempt it there will be others who can discuss it. No need for sarcastic comments but I guess the title is misleading sorry.

Nobody has said anything offensive towards the devs who have worked on the PLAY in the past. This was a friendly conversation about the OP possibly learning to tweak kernels. You are blowing things way out of proportion...for whatever reason.

We don't really have time. Every new game that is released, we are holding our breath hoping that it will run on our phones. Tweaks we have made in the past have gotten us a long way, but now we are running up against a brick wall, and we need help soon.
If someone want's to make a thread about taking action and learning to tweak the kernel on our phones, it would be great if you didn't post in it being negative. You're not helping any of us by doing that.

I've finished my introductory course of Python(not relevant, I know), and am 2 weeks into my schooling for that, through a private instructor at the company I work for. What I find exciting though is that my instructor speaks openly about the similarities between dalvik and java, and the way kernels process and execute bytecode. I'm on my way to understanding how it all works, but I have to stay focused on what my employer want's me to learn, for now
Hi all,
I am perfectly happy with my nexus 4, but my friend is giving me his old xperia play which I am going to use as a gaming device.
I see there are several roms out there based on gb and ics and some even jb.
What is suggested to optimize xperia play for gaming only? gb, ics or jb?
I will be deleting any app that isn't neccessary to keep things nice and clean.
Was thinking about a swap partition on my sdhc card as well.
Haven't got the device yet but I am collecting firmwares, kernels and whatnot to have ready for when I receive it.
Let me know what you think?:good:

Great friend you have there =).
I am sure that someone more technical could fill you in on details on GB, ICS and JB stuff. I haven´t been following that at all.
Personally, I only use my XPlay only as an emulator gaming device. And I use ExtremeKernel combined with EliteGamer 2.0 000p (no camera).
I have around 300-310 MB´s of free RAM. And emulators for NES, SNES, GBA, Genesis and PSX runs perfectly fine. It´s amazing to relieve my old games that are stashed away in my wardrobe.
I haven´t even gotten to overclock the unit. I prefer my unit to live as long as possible.
The XPlay IS aged hardware. But the price and its very smooth design makes it easy just to pick it up and play.

My friend actually got it for 10 euros, which is about the price of 2 small cigarette packs ^^
EliteGamer is the rom right? Don't need camera lol.
Your rom+kernel setting seem to work for you, I might try those. Have to decide based on opinions:good:

I'm currently building a pure performance ROM which is my custom build of AtomicGB.
For gaming I'd stick with Gin2KK, Elite and/or the Rom I'm just making.
Using the 000p/cameraless extreme kernel doesn't do video playback too :/ but is the best solution for gaming.

When I was testing roms, I found AuroraPlay to be the best gaming rom. It didn't skip any frames on PPSSPP when I was playing Project diva. I'm using that along with a beta ExtremeKernel. Here's a gameplay video. I think it has my settings too at the end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OznD5ZNtVvo

I'll keep an eye out for your rom release!
I don't plan on using camera and video playback anyways, it's going to be purely a gaming device
Do I have to keep in mind that there are other versions of the xplay?
Sometimes I see R800i or R800x model name

R800i is the 3G GSM version of the Play.
R800x is the CDMA version of the Play.
R800a is the 3G GSM version of the Play (not often seen).
R800at is the 4G AT&T version of the Play.
Oh my, where did your friend pick up a play for 10 euros? I'm looking to get a second one to store in case something bad happens to mine...

That's the amount of RAM my ROM had earlier in development.
Now it's a bit less due to JIT tweaks but has faster app execution.
That was with the 480p kernel, had 320 with 000p

Well it was kind of a demo model in a store he works at, and they were selling phones and tablets at a really low price. But there are only 5 or so of each model.
Had my eyes on this one x too but I wasn't lucky enough to win it.
I guess you can search Ebay or maybe a native secondhand market?

didn't know there was a 4g version. Is that like an xperia play 2 with upgraded hardware?
I'm not sure which one I'll be getting then

No it's the exact same phone, just has 4G.

I did, I found out some quite low prices but nothing even close to this. Do you know if there are any left, or was it a long time ago?
Anyway, my personal experience is that stock firmware, de-bloated and optimized with various little tweaks is the best.

He was asking for differences in the main hardware asking "Is this the Xperia Play 2?" sort of question, I don't think mentioning the radio comes into play on this part since he only wants to use the device for gaming.
And sorrt for the typo lol I just noticed it.

it was not a long time ago, but yeah there aren't any left. there were 5 of em or something, so they had to do like a lottery out of 30 people wanting the same device.
How much should I be paying for a new i800 these days?
