My Phone isn't still rooted, i installed the Real racing 3 game from google store which was free. the size of the game file was around 1.5 gb. after installing the game i went to the application manager and moved the app to the SD card, i knew only the fraction of the app will be moved, therefore the 1.5 gb was still in device storage and around 33mb was moved to SD card. However later this morning i went to the application manager and uninstalled the Game be i couldn't move it back to the device storage before uninstalling, the problem is that it seems like only the 33mb part was deleted but not the whole app (1.5 gb) because the 1.5 gb is still utilized in my device memory. i downloaded clean master and cleaned junk files and cache but no luck. can anyone tell me what has gone wrong? and a way to delete the 1.5gb file whch is on the device memory.
Thank you very much. !

Have a look in either Android/data or data/ on your internal SD and look for the folder which contains the game data then delete it manually.

This is where the game files are stored. You obviously didn't look hard enough.
/sdcard/Android/data/com.ea.games.r3
you can try installing clean master from the play store.

sorry for this question but i've just got this amazing phone but i've put some apps on the sd card and can't find the sd card on the phone ? even googled this but to no avail ! please help a newbie , thanks !
you mean the physical location of the SD Card? Its under the back cover. You need to remove the battery to get it out.
Also, apps are not stored on the SD card, but rather on the internal memory of the phone.
A couple of things. First you need to set up the phone for non market applications. This is done thru Menu>>settings>>applications and check the box that says Unknown Sources.
Next, if you use Astro or some other file manager, you can go to /sdcard and whatever folder you keep your apps in.
I use EOEAppsinstaller to do this. It searches the whole SD card to find any APK files. Works great.

Yes and no. You can put apk's that you find on the net so you can put them on the SD card so you can install them but as for installing them so they run off the SD card that won't happen until you root the phone.

+1 for Astro File Manager! It also has a built in apk installer AND task killer. I love multitasking apps.
your movie should appear in the Gallery

another yes and no. Due to a bug both RAM AND ROM are limited to ~230MB ...all are waiting for the next update.

The 512MB Flash ROM is shared between the OS and your installed apps. The amount left over for your installed apps after the system reserves space for the OS, scratch, recovery, and update partitions is around 190MB or so. Google mentioned that they are working on allowing us to store installed apps on the SD card so the size of this partition should not matter eventually.
The 512MB RAM is not used for storing the apps, it is used for running them and is a different set of memory. In 2.1 there is a kernel limitation that prevents them from using all 512MB just yet, but the next version of the Android Linux kernel will remove that restriction and we should see another 100 to 150 MB of memory available for use. That improvement won't have any impact on how many apps you can install, just on how many apps you can run at the same time and how much work they can do before they elbow other apps out of the way.

Even more importantly - there would be no more disincentive for developers to start creating more interesting media-rich applications.
As it stands now, if you put a 10MB app on the market very few are going to be willing to waste that much space on their phone to download it. So, you wouldn't make much money on it. So, you are likely not going to bother developing it.
With relaxed storage restrictions will come nicer (looking, at least) apps...
Hey all, I have Puzzle quest warlords for windows mobile, normally when I rom upgrade I dont worry about wiping and so.. but I think now I would. Would hate to lose my saved game. Does anyone know where thats backed up to or how to restore that fully? Thanks.
go to gile explorer and look on device or storage card in programs mate you prob find it all in there as a guess, maybe even the windows folder
Thats what I thought too, I checked program files, I see the game folder, but not sure if that holds the save file, looks all like game data to me. Checked a couple other places too, so thats why I was wondering if anyone has some ideas. =)

There's a My Saved Games folder in My Documents in your device memory. That's where all bejeweled and bookworm data is saved. I know it doesn't save there for all games though. Maybe your best bet if you can't find it there is to copy all the folders for the game you can find.

I've just flashed my ROM and I also had the same game as you installed. However, after flashing and a HR, I re-installed the game and I was pleasantly surprised to find that my progress was still saved. I originally installed the game to SD card so it must have auto backed up.

Issue is, the Marketplace didnt let me install it to the SD card. So my guess is. Maybe Ill backup the folder and restore it, see what happens, if it fails then sad panda. =/ Didnt see any saved folder for games tho.
Saves and preferences for most apps can be in Application Data or My documents, usually on internal memory if it was installed there or Storage card if you installed here.

You can configure MarketPlace to save apps to SD card. Just select menu at lower right corner of screen then settings. Here you can set the default storage location. Hope this helps.
Ok well I updated from Jun 11 to Jun 19th (Energy rom) and the marketplace shows sd card for install now. (Didnt before)
Also the files for puzzle quest are in the program files folder. puqugd.rs and puqugf.rs I restored just those 2 files and all was good. =)
Guys, I'm trying to move my games to my External SD card since I've got only 1gb left of my internal, but when I try to do it just from the Application Manager inside Settings, it only moves a few megabytes (X-Com Enemy Unknown has 3.7gb and moved to SD 60mb of it, awesome...)
I'm rooted, using X-Note 13, knox tripped 2 minutes after getting inside the house with the phone, I don't care about warranty or stuff, just... Could someone provide a fix, please? Tried App2SD, Link2SD and other apps like this, but it seems all they do is just move provide me with a shortcut to the same Application Manager from Settings that does the same useless thing. I didn't get a 64gb sd card to move 60mb out of 3.7gb from a game, seriously...
I think it depends on the programing of the game what can be moved and what not. Some programs can't be moved at all, but most of the big games I have, large portions of the data was moved to SD card during the install all by itself. If you just purchased the card, maybe reinstalling the game from start would give you better results, if that was an option? Also it seems to me you're using close to 25 GB of internal storage but you only mention one game, surely you must have many other large programs installed, what about them? There are some programs that can fool the system into "thinking" your external SD card is internal memory and your internal memory becomes external, but I don't have details ATM, also this could create problems if your SD card went bad.
And maybe you should take a hard look and see if you really need all those programs? If I didn't keep the tabs and clean all the junk, delete less frequently used programs etc. on regular basis, 96GB of memory wouldn't be enough either LOL.
I mentioned just one game as an example. I have quite a lot of space-hungry games, such as Bard's Tale, Modern Combat 4, Gangstar 4, Amazing SpiderMan2, etc...a total of around 40 games, mostly large games, and I have basically moved everything I could from Application Manager, yet it moved very very very little out of them. I tried deleting and reinstalling them, formatting my sd card, reflashing the rom from scratch with fresh sd, basically same thing every time. I got this phone to be able to have a mobile console with me that can also receive calls (boring job, games on phone help a lot), and now my sd seems so pointless
Internal Memory 26.3gb - 1.2gb free
Ext SD Card 59.0gb - 42.6gb free
bump, please?
The only app that worked for me is FolderMount [ROOT].
RinaldiMe, thanks a lot man, I just bought that app, testing it now, but from it's description, it should do exactly what I hope . It requires individual move of each app and folder, but it does the trick, thank you so very much
Will come back with replies as soon as I move 5-10 apps and test it out more
L.E.: Nope, bought the app, not just the free version, moved some files, still didn't work, apps just thought they didn't have their files and wanted to redownload...
Back to square one

I'm assuming your on kk bootloader and dunno if Mattiadjs int2extsd mod will work on 4.4, but I've been using his script meant for JB 4.3 that switches where the huge data and obb files are stored to your extsd instead of internal storage.
Try checking the galaxy s4 thread for the kk mod, I'll try looking too and post a link for ya. I know what your going thru as I have over 500+ apps/games and needed the 128gb SanDisk to store all my obb/data files along with pics and mp3 media.
Here's the link to the kk int2extsd mod

Any luck with that link I sent you, it's really easy to use as you just flash it in recovery. Your rom and kernel need to support init.d and it only works on TouchWiz roms.

Restoring a backup now, hoping it'll work. Basically it still saw my internal sd as internal sd, but it didn't see my card properly anymore (and yes i did check the exfat or fat32 version to use)
Are you tried App2sd?

Read op instructions. You have to put the same name folder both internal and external. Example: titanium backup. Both of internal and external must have the same name and caption.
Put all the titanium backup data in external titanium backup folder.
Leave titanium backup folder in internal empty.
Run the app, and select the correct path.

Any luck? this seems to be a generic android problem. can't believe no one figured out a solution yet. tried link2SD but it doesn't seem to see the full game size... detects something like 50 mb offf a 3 gb game...
assume u r note r rooted...install Xposed installer, then download a module obb on sd , enable it at the modules after downloading and installing, reboot and them move any game obb data from the note internal memory to the SD after creating folder Andriod/obb at sd
working at my note 9005 4.4.2 echoerom v19
Hey, my wife has been having a lot of trouble with storage space on her verizon s5. the internal storage is all but full. there arent many apps an it, in fact she has to delete apps to get new ones on her phone. its not rooted at all, and she doesnt want me to play with it like that. i have moved a majority of the the pics and vids to an external card. is there anything i can do to explore what is taking up so much space on the root directory without rooted it or playing with the phone or am i out of luck and stuck with a factory reset.

without root, the best bet is go into Settings-> Storage-> you should see what using up your space. Tab on it to see details and delete them as needed. You could also download diskspace analyzer app like this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage
I did that and there is a lot in the misc files section but it doesn't add up to the total in the section

Download this best disk space cleaner https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=booster.cleaner.optimizer . After install, make sure you reboot the phone, then check your storage then run the app and you should able to delete.
Tried running app. A big chuck of data is in the system in apps that I can't delete AMD such. Maybe I'll try a factory restore or gaining root so I can erase the apps she doesn't use.
Hi all,
I am using Moto g4 Plus with Resurrection Remix ROM - v5.8.4-20170824-athene-official for last two weeks. I love this ROM. There is only one issue I face which is forcing me to re-flash 2nd time in 2 weeks. The internal memory usage keeps growing and it fills up. I know it could be a rouge app. But I can not identify which.
My storage is encrypted as I use my corporate e-mail in outlook. Would that be a problem?
I used Titanium Backup Pro and moved all the high memory apps to SDCard (mounted as extended storage). Now the highest memory users listed in Storage is all google apps - but they dont add up to total.
Settings->Storage->Internal Memory says
28.59 GB out of 29.12 used.
Apps : 3.57 GB
System 4.26 GB
Cached data : 43.32 MB
When I installed the ROM and all apps from Titanium Pro back up it was only 15 GB. In a week it grew to fill the area. I did a clean installation again and it happened again.
Is there a tool/log where I can look for what is occupying the 28.59 GB and what keeps growing?
Thanks

Try fx file manager or any file manager, which will show you the usage stats and also created and modified date w/ it.
If not able to find out backup only app and not data from titanium backup.
See if the issue is resolved and check data(storage of per app using Apps2SD)
Apps2SD shows all the data consumed by a particular app w/each detail to wants.

Thanks. Apps2SD keeps crashing - so I couldnt use. FX file manager does not show much details other than SD card. I could see the same information with ES File Explorer with root explorer enabled. Unfortunately it looks like all the information the tool shows as recent file changes are in SD card and they are not much.
What is the mount path for internal storage - /data. Is there a way to see the largest files or recent changes with /data - may be I didnt use fx file manager with correct options.
Within last 2 hours the internal memory got filled up by another GB.

Ok, im not telling you that fx will show you all the details, but the file location and if permitted system info too. Which will clear that which folder have your data ie which app is doing this. Use some stats application for it(sry i dont know any).
But may you properly explain the process like just telling us int storage gets stock up w/o doing anything is bit not understandable.
I apologize as I sent the reply too soon without exploring all options in FX file manager.
I found the culprit. It was a folder related to power logger, which was taking up 21 GB. I deleted Ampere app (I assume it logs power usage) and the folder and I got 22 GB back.
Thanks a lot!

Only if Apps2SD has worked in your phone properly it would have been just a matter of time(like 10min is enough) to caught the culprit. Well good to see you have got your memory back[emoji6]
