Try this see if it works... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r433TC1iDic&feature=youtube_gdata_player

It does not work. I get an error prompting me to activate the sprint hotspot plan as soon as I try to turn on the hot spot.

I kinda figure that might happen..I really don't think there are any that will work on an unrooted Sprint device. You can always go the stock rooted way and just flash the hot spot mod..

Android WiFi Tether/Hotspot (for root users) now supported by the EVO 4G!!

The best WiFi/BT tether/hotspot app out there has just added support for the EVO 4G about half an hour ago. Of course, root is required but it's just one click away with unrevoked.
Forget Sprint's $30 a month tether - this one is free and supported by the community.
This is why I love Android.
All info here: Rooted EVO 4G Users Can Now Enjoy Unlimited Free WiFi/Bluetooth Tether (Hotspot) As Android-wifi-tether App Adds Support For EVO
I was just about to post this, but you beat me to it. I'm rockin this right now. Works great!! Not in 4G coverage currently, but I assume that works the same. Thanks to whoever wrote this!!
Sent from my Evo using Tapatalk
Very cool!
I was hoping not to root too quick and start that whole obsession again but...
Yes and y'all will be happy to hear it doesn't appear the evo gets nearly as hot as the hero when running it which is a bigggg plus to me no worries of frying my radio lol
sweet tyvm
SilverStone,
Was your device already rooted or did you use the "unrevoked" apk that was available? Many wrote no success with the "unrevoked" program.
Thanks!
I actually need USB tethering. Does this have it included or do I need another app?
Works great! If only I can figure out this battery issue.
It works like a champ. Wayyy better speeds on 4G.

If it's a separate ROM, it might not work as it relies on a different WiFi driver (one for access point), which is located somewhere in the ROM. If toast's doesn't have it, then it won't work.
Perhaps toast can put the driver back to where it is on the stock ROM and update his ROM.
Yeah.. doesn't work. I've tried.
I can get it to install, SuperUser permissions from Unrevoked run and I allow it etc.. all is well in the "root" department however... It doesn't show upon any wireless radar anywhere.
At least it runs, was on toasts rom and had to wipe and start from scratch to get unrevoked back on. Wouldn't start on Toasts at all.
So anyway, this doesn't actually do any good if you can't see it to connect to it. :/

Can you try restarting? If that doesn't help, can you try the method in ticket comment #59?

Restarting didn't work.
Tried method #59 and it went smoothly except I'm still not getting it to show up on HTC Hero. I can all the other networks just not my Evo's
I have pre14 installed.
Have wifi tether working fine on a laptop, however.. my samsung moment does not see the evo as an access point anyone test that hotspot actually works or can it only tether 1 device?
attempting this with 4g turned off(not avail in my area yet)

Great question. I has assumed that wifi tether = sprint "hot spot" I did a quick test with two laptops and was not able to connect the second. Not a conclusive test, because it's late and I'm tired. I'll play more tomorrow and post back.
Mine is working on the stock rom (after the OTA) and with the unrevoked .apk installed.....
Like the temp display up there too....nice!!!

Is your moment on 1.5?? I know Android doesn't like Peer-To-Peer connections.
moment is on 2.1, believe its because they dont support the ad-hoc setup.. sprints hotspot is actually turning on a router i believe

Trouble with downloads

MY wife and I received 2 new galaxy S4 non rooted right now. Both phones can download torrents but when I try and start the torrent on either phone using utorrent. It looks like its opens but when I check the app nothing is started. Same on computer as well. And a similar problem trying to download anything from my rss reader on both phones as well. I press the download button but nothing i downloading on my phone. It doesn't even try and start. I checked over the setting multiple times but I'm stumped.

Wrong. I could do it over ATT LTE just fine. And again my brother has my old phone and he is still able to
start torrents and download from a music RSS all over LTE. If someone has A S4 with utorrent remote are you getting the same issue
over LTE with ATT.

I'm really not sure what to tell you other than maybe rename uninstall/reinstall the app, then change your computer name in uTorrent Remote preferences, on the computer.

With it working just fine on my tablet. I don't think its anything on the pc end. I'll just have to call att and have them verify my connection.

Well if you connect to wifi, the att connection is bypassed... I wouldn't rule out it being a ROM issue blocking it? It's just rooted stock?

No, as I said its Unrooted. And on wifi or lte it doesn't work. I would think its my phone. But its doing the same on my wifes.

And you both have an S4 probably using the same s/w version... Possibly the AT&T software is blocking it. Someone else running stock will have to chime in on whether or not theirs works.

4.4.3 and Wifi tethering?

Is anyone on a completely stock and unrooted N4 having any Wifi tethering issues after the update? Which mobile provider and do you have the unlimited tether plan? I need to know this before I take the risk with this update.. I'd love to have the latest radio, dialer, etc.

Wifi tethering works fine for me, tested on stock and on a custom rom for 4.4.3. Just make sure you have the latest radio when updating to 4.4.3 and then you won't have any issues
I am using 3 network here with tethering included in the UK with no issues:good:

[Q] No 4G after reverting to stock.

Hey guys.
So I decided to update my wife's phone. It was running some version of stock rooted NAE from way back in the day. Noticed it needs NG2 modem for the NG2 Roms to work, so I just updated to Sacs V6 until I had a computer handily available to Odin to stock, then root.
Well, here's the thing. After a few hours of Sacs, her phone had rebooted a few times and kept losing connection all together then reconnecting back to 3g for a split second before disconnecting again. Well, I got a hold of the PC and Odin'd to stock NG2. Then rooted.
Well, now it won't connect to anything when LTE/CDMA is active under network mode, and obviously ONLY connects to 3g when CDMA Only is active. This is a big problem as the 3g service in my area is MISERABLE.(lol sprint) anyone have any clue what the issue is?
On a side note, I was getting 3g on LTE/CDMA before I decided to restore defaults in the APN menu. Now I get absolutely nothing on LTE/CDMA.
My s5 has perfect 4g LTE connection, so I know its a phone issue.(unless the s5 and s4 run off different types of LTE[I have no clue])
Any help would be MUCH appreciated guys.
Try ##72786#
Gave it a go. Nothing. LTE on my s5, still no LTE on the wife's s4. She's getting perfect 3g though. Checked ##3282# as well. LTE is enabled in there as well.
Okay. Soooo, she still has no 4g and 3g is continuously disconnecting again. Completely reverted to stock, noticed she still had NAE baseband. Downloaded the modem separately. Installed both. Now she is on NG2 baseband as well, but still having the issues.
Could be hardware issue. If you've reverted and tried to reset and do hands free activation there's not much going on with the software.
That's what I was assuming as well. She's only three months out from an upgrade, so she can just wait it out I suppose. We've got an iPhone 5 she can use for 4g in the meantime.
The only thing that had me confused was before updating the ROM, 4g was working just fine.
Everyone we flash or modify we are at risk of numerous problems and issues. Why the developers put a disclaimer flash at your own risk. (and she could've dropped it without telling you )
Sorry about the delay. It seemed go fix itself guys. Must've been a widespread network issue in my area. Thanks to everyone though.

Connecting to Network 123456 when making call

Running the PEH 930u firmware on my 930v and get this every time I have tried flashing/messing with it. Connects to 123456 whenever making calls and cannot receive. Does connect to VZW for LTE but when a call is made it drops. Anyone else with this issue? May be worth to note this is on an MVNO
I too am connecting to network 123456. I do not drop any calls but i am having prkblems connecting to 4g. Any info would be appreciated! I have searched the web to no avail.

Can be rooted just click on my signature where it says Rooted. I am not rooted for now, like battery life on stock, but is the same method for all S7s.
I had that problem too with Verison and I'm having it again but I fixed before a few weeks ago by calling *611 and asking for tech support and they fixed it fore in about 2 hours and I just haven't called them and gotten thru to tech support yet.
