'We Scream for Ice Cream' build 11 and 12 ROM installation aborted on Nexus S

Hi All,
I have been following [DEV][ROM] ICS Port thread. I started of installing ICS ROMs provided in that thread and was quite happy with the ROMs till beta 9. Since beta 11, not sure about beta 10, I am getting Installation aborted message. Here is the message I get when I try to install
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "crespo" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "crespo" || getprop("ro.product.board") == "crespo"
E:Error in /sdcard/We-Scream-Combo-Ice-b12.zip (Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I can still install We-Scream-Combo-Ice-b9.zip, I have been doing this almost everyday, not sure about beta 10 if it works on my Nexus S.
Any help is appreciated. Sorry if this is already answered, I am new to xda-developers and this is my first post. Since the issue seen from Nov 11th 2011, I haven't seen any threads giving solutions.
Thanks & Regards,
Arun Vijapur

Sounds like a bad download. Have you tried re-download the zip, clearing data/cache/dalvik, and re-flashing the rom?
I'm curious: you say you've been flashing various zips every day... why don't you just restore nandroids of your favorite roms?

Hi Braneless,
Thanks for your reply. I have tried downloading the zip. Infact the latest ROMs posted in the thread mentioned have this problem. Not sure if they are meant for Nexus S.
Ya, about the data/cache/dalvik I have done that in addition to Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache
I have also re flashed the ROM

FYI nothing new is working even if the dev keeps releasing new betas. IMHO just wait for something once the source is released or buy a Galaxy Nexus if you can. I tried each beta and all should be alphas not beta.

Hi RonieRuff,
Many thanks for your suggestions. One reason why I wanna try new betas is because many features aren't working properly in old betas, I am currently on beta 9.
As suggested by you I thought I will wait for sometime now or go for a stable gingerbread build for few days. But one question you said you have tried all the betas, are you able to flash beta 11 and 12? Why am I getting installation aborted message?

Thank you!! Ya, I know many things are not working like GPS, market crashes almost everytime on phone, I use the web Android market to get around this. Also the wifi fails to connect if you have that condition checked in advanced settings, don't remember what that setting name is, some notification.
Many of my other fav apps also crash: (

Yes... flashed both. EMAIL was broken again in 11, fixed in 12. Other than that saw no difference from 10.
Usually when the install is aborted it is a signing issue. Are you installing with ROM manager or just from recovery?

[ROM][BETA] cTouch Project - No Phone, Just Captivate.

cTouch
By Sepherian
No Phone, Just Captivate
Info: I have removed most of the phone files from the following ROM(s) to turn them basically into a cTouch (captivateTouch)
Phone Files I have Removed: Phone, Messaging, Modem, and any Icons related to a signal has been degraded to ONE pixel. Looks pretty goood.
Directions to flash:
1: NANDROID BACKUP
2: Download your ROM to your SD Card
3: Reboot into recovery, wipe data + cache
4: Install the rom
5: If Rom bootloops retry step 4
6: Prophet?
How I will be updating:
I will evolve the method I use to edit and Build these ROM(s) over time. So they will be labeled by V2 or V3, and the name of the rom will remain the same.
Also, the ROM(s) will update shortly after the developer updates it. (About a week or so)
CM9 and 10 (if they end up being supported) will be updated when I feel like it.
Rom(s) Built so far: (Please read all three posts before downloading)
Superbean 2.8.17 Built by Nygfan760 Download: Click here
If you donate to me, put your xda name and a rom you would like cTouch-inized in the memo and I will put it at the top of my list to finish (even before updates)
Fixes:
For ALL:
Apply Airplane mode AT ALL TIMES. If it is on you should see a little CT in your notification bar. If it is off, your antenna will be on and wasting your battery. For no reason because you don't want this phone as a phone.
Bugs:
For SuperBean:
If you go to Mobile Network settings, the application will crash. This will happen if you long-press airplane or data toggles because those settings are under Mobile Data
And again...
First!

Works pretty well, although the phone app still exists. There are force closes from phone storage on boot. I was going to install titanium but there is no play store. Not very useful without it. I will try grabbing the latest jellybean gapps and pull the play store from that.
----------
Edit: pulled latest gapps for jb from cm wiki. Installed PhoneSky.apk and play store works like a charm. Why in the hell is it called PhoneSky? Backed up, froze, and un installed phone/messaging storage and have no more force closes from it. Did the same to Guard since it handles call and sms blocking, and also com.android.smspush. Everything is working well, going to figure out how to get rid of the phone app now.
----------
Edit 2: As I'm sure you've already figured out, the Phone "app" is just an intent sent to the Contacts app, and I don't think removing contacts would be a good idea...I did find this though: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5812909/removing-android-phone-app

If this ROM is based off of MIUI.... perhaps just CM10/AOKP with no phone functions? I'm looking to turn my phone into a mini tablet/music player for my brother when i get a new phone.

Just got my Nexus 4, have a few questions.

If I was going to install a custom ROM or Kernel, can it update OTA?
For example, if I downloaded Cyanogen mod 10.1 and Francos r17 kernel, is there a button in the settings somewhere to download the latest update once it's released?
Any other things I should do when I first turn it on?
Only ever used an iPhone before this, so no idea what I should be doing
Can I sync with iTunes?
I know where the folder in which iTunes stores music files is, but it would nice if it would sync with iTunes.
Lastly, any fun/useful apps?
Free or otherwise

having a custom recovery will cause OTA failures. to flash a custom kernel, you need a custom recovery.

I need help?

I just flashed my N10 with Custom ROM CM10.1 but I realized I don't like it that much.
My N10 is rooted, and I do not know how to roll back to the stock rom because I forget to do a full backup. Please help, im running on 4.2.2
Thank you! I just want to roll back
Tim
Google search for factory image for Nexus 10. Or install a stock rooted 4.2.2 ROM from the development section, or try out other ROMs and see if you like them better.
I dont really understand though how you dont like CM10.1, it is the same as stock but with a couple more features and bugfixes. What could you possibly not like about it?
Just check out the sticky threads on the nexus 10 general forum. They have a thread with stock roms.
However my suggestion would be to try out more custom roms. They too are available on a sticky thread. Specially the vanilla rootbox one which is working great for me.

Try using carbon ROM and Trinity kernel I have that set up on my N10 and my N4 and both devices smoke man they are fast as hell....try rasbean too all of this is in the nexus 10 original development section ......if your looking for close to stock as possible try mmuzzy ROM its stock with performance enhancements ....don't fret man that's the best part flashing different ROMs and kernels to suit you best man :cyclops:
I suggest using AOKP Pub with the Trinity Kernel. Awesome combination, super smooth, good battery life and nice performance - plus a ton of options for customization
agreed with anazei

Well, the reason I do not like about the CM10.1 and most custom ROMs is that it doesnt support google play store and also it lacks the google pinyin(input method)which comes default on the nexus 10 and the google pinyin i download on the official site is way different than the default built-in one.

Well the reason Id want to flash back to my stock rom was because when I tried flashing gapps I cant get into rcovery mode i kept getting a dead android with exclaimation mark.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk HD
Then you have a corrupt download or something weird. Most ROM's need to flash a gapps package after the ROM gets flashed so you have the official Google apps like the play store. There are one or two ROMs with these apps built in but the "proper" way is to separate the apps into the different installs. Though if you use a ROM with an Aroma installer, I have always seen gapps get flashed as a part of that. Mr.Robinson's AOKP PUB is a good example of that.
Also in regards to pinyin you would have to flash to stock/rooted use something like es file explorer goto /system/apps copy the pinyin apk to your normal storage(virtual sdcard) then you can flash whatever you want and copy that apk back to /system/app set permissions to read write read read and maybe reboot. You should then have the one you want working.

Going to try OMNI but in reading through the threads have seen problems with different gapps, SO WHICH GAPPS should we use with OMNI.
Currently have PA_GAPPS for 4.4 from goo so will try that in the meanwhile.
