I use the Samsung WatchOn app to control my TV, but when I try to close it, it still remains in the notification shade?
I follow the app's instructions and hit BACK to close the app but it never closes?
I tried rebooting my phone and it STILL shows up in the notification shade!
Anyone else having this issue?
I searched and someone said to uncheck "allow app to show notifications" in the App Manager but that's not really closing the app.

You can't, WatchON is one of those annoying apps that keep running even when you're not using it. It's also a heavy battery drain.
Personally I killed it and installed this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.remotefairy
It controls SO much more than just the tv.

It doesn't close the app.
The only way to "Permanently Close" WatchON is to disable of Freeze it. Like I do.
I use watch on and it shows in my status bar but has very little effect on my battery life, I still get 2 days use so I don't worry about it ..... Great app.

I have the same issue but I figured a way to close the app. Open it > Long press Home button while in app > Select App Manager (down left) > Press "End" near WatchOn => App will be closed, notification and lock screen widget will disappear also.

Hi xda users,
I've got a big problem here, and to simply explain it, I'll do it in pictures:

}
things I've tried to use to solve this data leak:
- disabling auto sync
- restricting background data on my wifi router
- disable location via mobile network.
and those above didn't help. the consumption keeps rising as i currently write this... any help please?
EDIT: SOLVED!
i went to settings - apps - running
i killed the MEDIA service, then went to cached apps (the top left button on the same screen) and killed MEDIA. the wifi up and down icon stopped instantly.
Turns out, the Downloads app is the one causing the trouble. So by force closing it through its app info, you're stopping this hog.
5 minutes later it showed up again, and i force closed it again.... still testing. maybe greenify it?
EDIT2: greenified and solved:
I can even go to downloads app, and still no download loop

Hey this problem is driving me nuts. Can u explain how you greenieifed it? I've bought the donate version and when I try and greenjfy it by selecting the running service from 'apps' it just tries to greenify the 'settings' which obviously doesn't work.
Thanks!

search for the apps from the list from the greenify app itself.
or click on the search button and launch "downloads" app then greenify that
The problem also is related to the playstore app on android 4.2.2 which causes that loop. i manually updated the playstore and the problem is gone even without greenify
i don't have a link right now, but the thread related to this is somewhere in the Q&A forum (if I'm right)

I just disabled "Download" And "Download Manager".
Are these essential or anything?
The same gesture that you do to get to Google Now can be changed to turning the device/screen off.
Just install this free app called "Screen Off And Lock": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&hl=en
Then swipe up from Home (like you would to get to Google Now) and it'll ask you to set a new default:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Grant it permissions, and now, every time you swipe up from Home, you can lock your screen/device from anywhere! Great for those who don't want to overuse the power button, and for those who obviously don't use Google Now like that.
To get rid of it, just go to "Screen Off and Lock" app in your App settings and Clear Defaults (or just uninstall the app).
Just thought I'd share.
Thank you! I love the apps like this.
love it, if only i can swipe up to turn on

Bricked kernel supports both tap to wake as well as swipe to wake BUT battery train increases by about 2-3x on idle above having it off. It goes from 0.5 to 1% per hour w/o these enabled to 2-3% w/ enabled. These are both customizable (enable/disable) but be aware of the drain.
This is great for one handed operation when you don't want to reposition the phone.
Very cool, just what my N5 was needing!
Thanks for highlighting this app.
This app disabled the double tap to wake function of the bricked kernel. That is unfortunate, because having both of these running in conjunction would make the N5 a 1 handed notification checking, song changing device when its on your desk or table.
EDIT: Just kidding it was disabled for some reason. I had it set to reenable after start up...so I don't know what happened.

Lol. It's the exact same amount as Google Now. It is only listening when the screen is already on, which would otherwise be waiting for an upward swipe for Now.

I'm using Jelly Bean's ROM, and everything seems to be working fantastic, except for Pen Window...When I click the S-Pen button and select Pen Window, the cursor doesn't change to the "draw" cursor, and I can't draw a window; simply nothing happens. I've tried using apps like the Pen Window manager to add "extra" apps to the pen window interface, but that doesn't work, and I've checked all my settings, but can't find anything about enabling/disabling Pen Window.
Any suggestions?

Im having the same issue, did you manage to fix the problem because i would really like mine to work :-/
Mine let's me draw a window, but the applications box is empty, and upon trying to add applications through the edit menu, I get a force close error. I am however on Baja rom kit Kat build. I am new to the android development area but I am semi-proficient in Linux so I will look into this a bit more and maybe see if I can't find the cause so we may find a solution.

ok i seem to have fixed it. first off if you have pen window manager and mw manager installed. make backups in titu then uninstall them and then reboot. try reinstalling just pen window manager first without restoring data. it should then work. after that you can try to reinstall mw manager but that seemed to be the trouble spot on my note 3.
Unfortunately I'm on kit Kat so I can't recreate the problem you guys are receiving. Can you maybe take a screen shot to give me an idea of what's going on? And does multi window work for you?

I know this is a slightly old thread but if you happen to have anything disabled through Titanium Backup or via the App Manager... make sure you do not disable RakeIn 1.0. This service is required by both Pen Window and Scrap Booker. This only solves the issue where Pen Window does absolutely nothing when attempting to launch it.
This is exactly what my issue was. Good thing I don't remove the bloatware and rather just freeze it.
Thanks very much.

I'm having a problem now on 4.4.2 Alliance build 2. My Multiwindow isn't showing any of the apks I added extra despite multiple reboots and reinstall of the manager apk and double checking everything including xposed, as well as my pen window only shows Google music now nothing else and won't save anything. Does anyone know the actual place in my phone where the list is stored and I can manually update, this is killing me thanks!
Hi, guys
recently I notice that if I detach the S-Pen while Note3 is sleep, it doesn't wake the phone until I pressed the 'power button'. I've try de-frosting all apps (but still using greenify). Did I miss any apps that governs the S-pen wake up functionality?
To use the spen I need to pull out and press 'power button'. It's 2-step for me
Go to Settings --> Running services and check to see if the SPenKeeper service is running?
I go to Settings > Application Manager > Running apps
I found SPenKeeper running since boot (been running for 8 hours); I did not greenify this app, it show running in the greenify select menu.
still it doesn't wake the phone. It does vibrate though, I also notice that until I 'power on' the device, then only the 'pop' sound of Action Menu runs.

The last thing you can try is factory reset the device. You may need to make a full backup.

Ok, I just received the N910FXXU1COJ3 OTA on my DBT N-910F with all the security updates. Great, but I did notice that the conveniet app manager feature that killed background processes inside Smart Manager is now gone and from the looks of things, there is a new "alternative" ambiguously called App optimization, within the battery section.
Now I for one am getting pretty tired of this inconsistency and constant feature swapping and come here seeking information. Can anyone actually clear things up for me and explain what exactly App optimization means. Will it simply kill the apps background services and if so, why is the minimum timeout 3 days? I also heard that it is more like a disable fuature for the selected apps, meaning no activity whatsoever, like notifications.
Is there any way that i can make use of the convenient "garbage collection" that Smart Manager used to offer, or am I hopelessly stuck dealing with Samsung`s ADD?
Thanks, any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Ok. I have a call recorder. It just happens to stop working after awhile. I went to app optimazation and disabled it. Does that mean now that my Call Recorder app doesn't apply to these rules and should never shut off or stop working if I disabled it for that app. It's so annoying because all of sudden your looking and your call isn't being recorded. I have to open the app...then it works again. Am I using the app optimazation option improperly?
When I bought the pro version; a message appeared explaining to disable app optimazation for the app so it continuously works. Is this right? And I'm just dealing with an app problem or I'm I not using this feature properly. I want my call recorder to always be working. [email protected]

App Optimization is Doze mode, that simple
You have to disable App Optimization for apps that should always run in background or be accessible without opening the app itself like Tesla Unread, Torchie, some reminder apps an some e-mail apps. In my expirience if an app is being optimized it will not show any notifications and such until "acitivized" by opening the app itself.

Apps that I don't need running in background and have used more battery than I think they should when in background are set to "Always power saving". Exaples: 9GAG. Previously I used Greenify for these apps.
Apps that need to stay active at all times are set to "Disable for". Examples: Reminders, Tesla Unread.
Most of other apps are set to "Automatically optimising".
