[Q] ipv6 problem - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK guys, here's my problem. This happens in Android 4.3 & 4.4 but not in 4.2.2 (in my device)
I have a router running Tomato Shibby MOD, using an IPV6 tunnel to gain IPV6 access. Once connect to WiFi, things go well, after some times (usually when I wake up another day), the phone's IPV6 default gateway just disappear! There is still IPV6 address, still able to access LAN using IPV6, but unable to connect to Internet using IPV6. Reconnecting WiFi gets it work but still things go **** again after some times.
I have a few Windows PC in the same network, they works fine. Flash my Nexus 4 back to 4.2.2 works fine too.
I wonder anyone else encounters this problems too, and anyone knows how to solve it.

anyone encountered this problem? plz help

[Q] wifi and dhcp issue with 3.1 stock

hi everyone, some days ago I installed the virtuous 1.6, than replaced with a rooted stock 3.1. Since then, when I disconnect from my wifi for a while, getting far away from my router, it happens that coming back into the wifi field the tablet tries to reconnect but after 4 or 5 times it stops trying and tells me the connection is disabled. I see the dhcp service bouncing, no ip assigned. The only solution I've found googlin' around is to rename/delete the file dhcpcd-wlan0.lease in /data/misc/dhcp. It worked. but the issue got back again and again. I wanted to find out the cause and solve the problem once and forever, if possible. It's a pain in the... you know
Here is my topic. There is also one solution to it apart from the one you've found in google (which was probably my topic anyway ).
You're right, it'was your post. I've read it againg but I can't find out which could be the alternatrive solution. Keep in mind that when I got this wrong behaviour the first time obviously I invesitgated the possible causes, and I discovered the inability to retrieve a dhcp IP address either with my wifi router, with my wifi access point 3g and with a tethered connection via Iphone (all of them I normally use when I'm not at office). None of these would work until the uplisted file deletion). Would you be so kind as to suggest me, if you can, the possible solution in more detail (apart from performing a global reset that would be as annoying than deleting the file)
In any case, many tnx for your answer
Currently the common solution is to abandon the leaked 3.1 rom or put up with the bug.
Manually setting DHCP also works but it's usefull only if you'll use the tablet on one wifi. Else it's just a big pain in the arse.
I have same issue with the stock 3.1 rom.
At the end what I did was manually assign IP address for my iPhone's MyWi connection.
It seems mine has no trouble to connect to my home wi-fi network as well as work...
I also get that problem. But now, seems to have fixed it. I have done the followings:
- delete the dhcp lease file
- change the channel of my wifi router to 9 or below
- download the ad-hoc supported wpa_supplicant
Please try if above help you

Connected to WiFi but no Data

I am able to connect my Nexus 4 to my WiFi network but the WiFi icon is grayed out (No Data). At times I can ping the phone 25% of the time. Tried setting a static IP address but it didn't work. My Note 10.1 and Galaxy Ace 2 can connect with no problems. It's frustrating to note that the Nexus 4 cant.
BTW. Router is D-Link DIR-600 with DD-WRT. Tried removing encryption and changing channels but no joy
Similar issue
I am having a similar issue just started recently I was on CM10.1 and my wifi would connect and after some time it would go grey and it keeps doing that. I thought it maybe the router but no other device is having this issue so must be the phone. I changed the rom as well factory reset clean install still similar issue. The only thing i can think of is that I have the old radio .33 since I am in Canada and I wanted to keep LTE. If anyone has similar issue please let me know if you found an easy fix

Custom ROM/Kernel?
Custom Rom
Sentinel ROM 4.30. Sentinel Kernel. I can connect to other routers but not with this one
Can Ping
Okay. I tried to ping from the phone. I can ping but it skips ICMP sequences.
EDIT:
Found a possible fix. In the DD-WRT wireless settings set your beacon interval to 10ms. Now I can connect to the internet and no ICMP loss!

[Q] My Nexus 4 conect in Wi-Fi but don't access web

Guys, recently bought a Nexus 4 and it normally connects via wifi but can not connect.
I was using the Android 4.2.2 OTA updated to Android 4.3 and the problem persists.
The Nexus 4 connects normally, but the icons of wifi connection and carrier signal are gray instead of blue and even trying to install applications via Google Play or simply access a site via browser do not work and accuse the connection fails.
I was tested and the router's signal is good and other equipment that I usually work (other Android smartphones and notebook).
My router is standard G and I use WPA2.

Oddly enough, I have the Nexus just 3 days and only had access to the router so far from home, but today I'll look for a router to test the public.
But either way it's frustrating the Nexus 4 have these compatibility issues when connecting to a wifi router.
Before making the switch router, is it not possible to find out which configuration of WLAN could cause this? Does Google do not have this documented?
i feel your pain, been there
it could be your router, from the way it assigns ip addresses to your type of encryption. by any chance is it a linksys G router? that was my problem before until i just decided to get an N router.
did you try switching to WEP or open to see if the problem persists? or changing your gateway ip address? or changing which ch your wifi is on?
never hurts to try
Should factory reset your router and upgrade firmware first, then immediately connect to it without encryption and see if it work.

[Q] Android Lollipop - Wifi Problem

I did a clean flash, but cannot connect internet through wifi. There wasn't such problem before lollipop.
Other devices connect without problem.
Chrome says DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET
Mobile network works fine btw.
What might cause that?

Is it happening with all WiFi networks that you are connected to? Because it seems related to the DNS configuration.

No, only University's WiFi
I have the same, really annoying problem.
I use a local DNS to resolve my LAN name server, but the device on Android Lollipop never use the Local DNS and it ends with a 404.
I use "Fing" / "Ping and DNS" to do my network test, it says the hostname can't be resolved... and the DNS used is one on IPV6 (2a01:e00::1)
I have a lot of applications inside my private domain ( *.dk.lan ) managed by a bind9 / dnsmasq (I have tested both) server on Raspbian, and all was pretty good with Kitkat and lower (and on Mac OS / Linux )...
I have 8 devices, 5 on Lollipop with this problem and 3 on kitkat without it.
Some thread seems to appear on Internet about this kind of problem...
And, after investigation, it seems the Android Lollipop device use an Ipv6 DNS name resolver instead those send by the DHCP server...
If you have an idea... I'm listening !
About this problem, I've opened a issue on the Android tracker : https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=79504
I've been investigating this issue and it's seems that it's a kind of problem on how the OS stores the DHCP parameters.
If you try to make static the same configuration in my case it takes a /20 (255.255.240.0) network like /29 (255.255.255.248) ..... and this doesn't happen if the network it's the ussual /24 (255.255.255.0)
Not fixed in 5.0.1
Finally fixed in 5.1

Note 4 and issues with some Wifi

Hi, i have my Samsung Note 4 phone and O.S. ver. 5.1.1 stock firmware, no root and build N910FXXU1COH4.
I've noticed problems on Google Search, Facebook and upgrading on Play Store when I'm connected to some wifi network.
Recently I configurated at my friend a station to receive Internet connection (Adsl) from his brother and I installed him a TpLink Cpe and an access point with ddwrt software installed.
Then...my Note 4 has the problems I said and pc, Samsung S3 Neo and another Samsung work regurarly for all apps, upgradings and searchings!
I don't know why I have this issue in my Note 4!
I configurated the Cpe setting as dns (not obbligatory) the ip of his brother's router connected to internet.
I tried to insert 8.8.4.4 with static ip but I don't fix the issue.
P.e.: i noticed that the issue is caused by upload that is about 0 Kb/s and others devices don't have this issue.
Do you know why?
I also upgraded my stock firmware to COJ3 but i haven't solved the issue...[emoji53]

From what I can understand there is an issue with Lollipop where if it sees IPv6 on your network it will always try to do DNS over IPv6, even if its not actually functional. As such, DNS completely breaks when using IPv6 capable routers (guaranteed if you run DD-WRT, OpenWRT, pfSense, etc) if you do not have IPv6 support enabled on your Internet connection.
I ran into this myself recently as I was trying to disable IPv6 on my network as it was not fully functional, but it completely broke connectivity on my Note 4.
The March security update seems to have made this worse, as even after restoring partial IPv6 I can now do DNS but actual connectivity still fails instead of falling back to IPv4 like its supposed to.

Thank you my friend. I read only now your message..
I don't know if we have the same problem.
Now my phone is going with the latest MM stock firmware and I have always the same problem..
Some other phones work good except someone..
I don't know if it's a issue about IPv6 but I can ensure you that I linked all phones in same way to wifi but their behaviour is absolutely different related those apps..
