I've flashed the recommended recovery for my version of the note 3 but it appears to be lacking features.
When I go into it, there is no advanced menu for instance, and there are only options to 'apply update' rather that 'install from external sd' like I'm used to seeing whenever I've used CWM Rec before.
Is this right? Or does that sound wrong?
As I tried flashing a RIM yesterday via that update section to no avail. All it did was a factory reset essentially.
Thanks

No that sounds like stock recovery to me did you flash Cwm with odin
Ahhh.....am I confusing rooting with ODIN with flashing of a recovery as well?
I was under the impression it was part of the process?
I'm probably mistaken...
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Sorted. Didn't use the recovery in the end anyway, just flashed the ROM over ODIN and then re - rooted and then flashed CWM. Sorted.

yeah but you have maybe tripped knox have a look in download mode should be 0+0
Of the 2 that are there, 1 says 0x0 and the knox warranty one says 0x1.
I'm assuming that is bad?
What should I do about it, if anything?

yeah you have tripped knox ,nothing yet you can do about it ,but now you can flash anything you want lol
Ha ok. Wonderful.
But I've voided my warranty.
Well as you say. It's done now. I can see some devs working on a fix....but it seems to be hardware efuses etc so Lord knows when that will happen.
In the meantime I will now have my fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong with it.....oops

And stupidly I was only really doing it so I could transfer my stuff over from my note 2. Could have just sucked it up. And I re flashed a stock generic ROM as my phone was a used O2 upgrade and that stupid O2 splash screen was annoying me as I'm 3 network lol

well you can flash any rom you like now
or flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474713
Yeah I flashed the stock ROM already and that removed the O2 splash. Just have to wait and see now. Will mess about with ROMs at a later date me thinks. Maybe read a bit more about the faculties of the note 3 hardware software before messing again. It's been a while since I last dabbled in it all, I used to have a HD2 that I had ported to android from windows 6.5 but things have come on leaps and bounds since then. I didn't touch my note 2 for the whole time I had it. Worked fine stock lol.

Hello,
I have been trying to figure out a few things with the S4 and read a lot of stuff but I have a few unanswered question.
I come from using NExus phones since Nexus 1. Unlock Phone, install CWM and then use it to flash roms or rooting scripts.
Now, I have S4. I am still with their STOCK on I337M (Canadian Model) and I rooted using CF-Auto-Root and ODIN.
What I don't understand, is:
- Can I flash CWM and then just use CWM and SuperSU-vx.xx.zip to root? Why Use Odin?
- Now that I am rooted, if I new SAMSUNG firmware comes along, I am assuming it will fail, I will have to unroot and then apply firmware and then root again? How do I unroot? "Full Unroot" from the option in the app just like the Nexus phones?
- S4 has a counter from what I read, but lot's of warning about bricking phone is that only active on Samsung stock? What if I flash a google stock?
- Can I just use Rom Manager Pro as I used to with Nexus devices...
if I flash CWM, is it replacing ODIN? Is odin a recovery like Odin! If anyone can point out and explain the difference between CWM , ODIN, Nexus phones and S4 it would be great...
I know that now when I go to download mode (Is that like fastboot?) it shows binary as being custom, but I don't get a yellow triangle when I boot...
Thanks for any info regarding explaining what ODIN is...
I also noticed although I have 16GB phone, 6.38GB is system! That is huge! Is that normal?
There are some nice features that I would not like to lose, so I stuck with samsung and just use NOVA home screen...
This is actually the "ATT Galaxy S4Active" forum. S4 forum will have answers to all your S4 questions.

Only thing I still wonder is about updates that samsung releases. It will remove root? I guess I have to wait till chainfire has a rooting script then update.
Thx.

I just went through the un root because I was only using it for one thing. I ended up flashing the original ROM using Odin then doing a factory reset and cache wipe. Now waiting for the update not sure I will root until S4 is not longer updated by Samsung.

Hi,
Look HERE
OTA will remove root, and the latest will lock down your bootloader.
Hi
I have AMG1... I think this is the latest one but I was able to root.. Will locking boot loader prevent rooting.. Could it be another one for at only?
Thanks
Note: yes. I did notice chainfires note.. But he doesn't say what load is the latest.. There are so many Samsung s4 models devices.. Each with different models its so confusing

I just installed CWM on latest version of Canadian I337M AMG1... Its good so far.
Xda modder.. There are differences between i337 att and Canadian i337m.. No forum specific to the Canadian folks?
Thanks...

My note 3 is running the belgian 4.4.2 I downloaded from Sam mobile and flashed with odin, though the phone says it is a custom rom and when I click check for updates it also says phone is modified.
Anyone know what the problem is here and how I can restore ota updates?
The phone was rooted when i was on 4.3 but I have flashed first the Polish and then the Belgian 4.4s via odin

You can't go back to JB from KK... You may as well have said to connect to Kies and let that fix it...
To the Op, check if your Knox warranty void has been tripped, if it has you may as well root and install a custom rom and/or recovery, or at the very least xposed framework.
You can't reset theKnox but you can use a mod to trick the system into thinking its official which will allow OTA updates. You may need a couple of things to be active so the OTA will install but I'll let you look that up.

Used to read about a bug on samsung phones where if it contains too many files it would show system status as modified. Try transfer as much as your files from phone memory into sdcard then remove it. Then check again system status. It sounds crazy but i'm pretty sure that's my understanding from the thread

Strange, when flashing back to complete stock everything goes back to official (bar knox of course) - did you try the xeo? It's possible if you've used another firmware (carrier or country) the device may not like it.
Also a complete wipe may help too.

Well when I reflashed and it didn't work I did a factory reset and cleared the cache to no prevail.

thanks
That means you have succesfully put a custom recovery on your phone via odin. Stock wont show anything, but anything other than stock, that will show. I can only assume your on JB(4.3) still and have flashed a recovery for KK(4.4)
Im from the uk too, using chenglus 11/21 recovery on my jb rom.

Make sure you are using the right cf auto root file. One is for 4.4 and the other is for 4.3.
edit: didn't read it completely, what did you use to root your phone?

Yes works fine. Have done it a few times on the n9005, and many times on other devices. You don't even need a rom to flash a custom recovery, or stock recovery for that matter.

I have the att note 3 that was 4.4.2 and I am ready to sell it but my phone was rooted and I uninstalled some of the stock programs that came with it. I tried to flash what I thought was a stock rom through Odin but it failed and now I just see firmware encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies. When I go to kies it just tells me that I cannot recover the device. If anyone can help me that would be awesome and thanks in advance.

You root one time and your Knox is modified even if you flash stock after...
Start again in dl mode and flash again but check md5 before
The method I used did not trip Knox see the picture. And I have used Odin before a lot of times before I have tried to reflash many times if you Google it you will see that a lot of people are having this issue but nothing has worked for me so far figured I'd ask here. It is also very hard to even find the att stock rom
