Hi.
I need help on this one.
I would like to port the i9505 CM 10.2 version to the new i9506 (S4 LTE+A)
But someone told me that i should use the Nexus 5 build of CM because it have the same processor (Snapdragon 800)
Is that the right thing to do ?

You dont port open source roms, you need to make a new device spec and maybe just copy some parts (the cpu hardware part) from nexus 5 into it and then compile it. but I think its better to look at the device spec of the note 3 since thats also a snapdragon800. and better samsung as vendor than LG obviously.
the rom itself doesn't support snapdragon 800 or not, it's mainly bionic that supports cortex a15, a9, which is the arch of the snapdragon 800.
the source for the kernel can be found at samsungs site. and this is where the actuall code is for the cpu and stuff.
but you will not get it working by copying files from the nexus 5 believe me. you need to compile it

Any help with porting to I9506 is much appreciated. So thanks!
port from Note3 CM should be more reasonable coz its a samsung.
I dont make roms, dont blame me if i am wrong

Hi guys you know if it's possible to port cm 11.? If yes why nobody port Already?
Sent from my SM-P605 using XDA Free mobile app
It is an easier task for SM-P605 since it uses S800 CPU which has open source-ish drivers which can help devs a lot while compiling a rom from source. Looks like nobody wants to take on this yet since it requires lots of time and knowledge
SM-P600 & P601 & P602 are a bit unlucky since they use Exynos CPU's which we have less source and experience on. Somebody can port from Note 3 with experience in porting (should be easier than building ground-up drivers for now).
Cyanide? Rotfl
On a serious note though...
There have been (successful) bounties for new roms recently and I wonder if we could also get some CM / AOSP love
All we need is a willing CM dev & another bounty, right?
(I'm still on stock, no root, no knox tripping and I don't void my warranty for a touchwiz rom... I would for a CM / aosp rom + kernel though...)
edit: a working CM or AOSP rom + kernel would probably also attract more devs, since most roms are based on either one of them (e.g. slim, paranoid android, etc are all based on AOSP [with their own modifications of course])
I want to port it, but i'm not able to port a fully working ROM, and not have time to fix all.

Wasn't clear from your post, did you try to port it but not get things working?
I will probably attempt to port CM11 to the P605. I just got one, and I've worked on OmniROM in the past but this is the first time I have tried to bring up a device from scratch so it will take some time (well, not really from scratch, I'm banking on the fact that the Note 3 and Note 10.1 2014 are quite similar so that that might hopefully save me some time). The other issue for me specifically is that the seal on the box was already broken when I got it so I might want to try to return it, if any issues crop up. So first I need to figure out if I can root it without tripping Knox so that I can do some diagnostic stuff and try and figure out if the device has any problems and/or was a returned device.
But if we're lucky, I think I can port CM, though most likely I won't have a lot of time to do this until mid-June so before then I'll just see what I can do in a short amount of time. Afterwards I'll attempt bringing up Omni as well but I'll attempt CM first since CM actually supports the Note 3 LTE (I tried doing an Omni bringup for Note 3 too, but ran into some issues and haven't had time to debug further).
Just noticed that cyanogenmod is apparently already working on a galaxy note 3 exynos build ( http://www.cyanogenmod.org/blog/this-week-in-cm-apr-26-2014 ) and since note 3 and note 10.1 2014 share the same hardware, i'm sure someone will be able to port it
(Xluco is doing pretty much the same thing with his kernel... porting features over from a note 3 exynos kernel)
I'm quite excited for this, cm will be reason enough for me to finally root my device and like I said a working cm rom + kernel will probably attract more devs (since a lot of roms are based on cm) [emoji106]

Hi,
as you know, TAB S2 has Exynos 5433 as our device and the firmware is online now:
http://www.sammobile.com/2015/07/24/first-galaxy-tab-s2-8-0-firmware-now-available-online/
Do you think it will be possible to port some of it's functionalities (maybe new TW if it has) to our device?
And do anyone know if TAB S2 is running in 64bit mode? Then maybe we can get 64bit kernel on our device too....
UPDATE: TAB S2 is running 32bit 5.0.2....another example of ****ty samsung development
Thanks Jiri
Really Samsung?
I still don't know why don't they enable 64 bits mode in both devices. Let's hope they do it after the note 5.....
By the way, there is a thread
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/galaxy-note-4-developer-discussion-developers-only/wip-64bit-build-exynos-5433-t3090926
where they were trying to enable it but, AFAIK it's dead. ...
Hello everyone,
I would like to know if I can install a lollipop (original or custom) rom from the 8 inch tab 4 (sm330) on the 7 inch tab 4 (sm230) and flashing the kitkat kernel of the sm230 without bricking my device.
Correft me if I am wrong, but I believe they have the same hardware and I see no reason why it wouldn't work. I wonder why the 7 inch version is the only one of the tab 4 family that hasn't recceived a lollipop update yet (no official samsung rom and no custom rom).
So here are my questions:
Why can I not flash the sm330 rom on the sm230? (Tab 4 8 rom on tab 4 7)
If I want to try flashing the rom from the 8 inch version, is there anything more I need to flash? (Kernel, mod,...???)
Will the kernel from the kitkat 4.4.2 work on the lollipop rom? Or will it hard brick the device due to different partitioning?
I am ready to experiment and report the results here (such as potential bugs), as long as I don't get a my tablet bricked.
Thank you for reading and I look forward to some inputs from the community
It won't work, they have different chipsets

Thank you very much for the quick reply, I checked the specs and you are right, Marvell chipset for the 7 inch against a Qualcomm chipset for the 8 and 10 inch versions.
But then, is there a device out there (regardless of what manufacturer) that is equipped with the same Marvell chipset and has lollipop? And how hard would it be to port it to the tab 4?
Where can I request this port? (Cyanogenmod, Paranoid-Android, or other rom developement teams?
Thank you in advance for any input

It's actually being worked on right now, over in this thread and it sounds like they're close to releasing something

Thank you again, your reply was extreamly helpful, I read all the posts of the thread you shared and it looks promising, although it will possibly have many bugs on the first builds once posted and one should not expect anything stable for at least a month or two after the first release.
I have been checking xda twice a week since 2 or 3 months hoping to see a lollipop release and I am glad to see that we are almost there
I am satisfied with the answer and will try to be patient for this release
But if you or anyone else has more information to share, please feel free to post it here
Have a wonderful day everyone
Hi,
I just bought a new Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 tablet and the model number is SM-T533. From what I've seen, the only difference is that the processor is a 64-bit snapdragon 410, vs the 32-bit snapdragon 400 from the other models. Does anyone know if ROMs for T530NU are compatible?
Thanks in advance .

Yeah, I know. I'm just wondering if the T530 ROMs are compatible or even if they can be installed at all. Maybe I'll have to wait until devs compile a version for this processor.
There is no custom recovery as far as I know as there is no source code for kernel. No way to root either unless you are on very old firmware.
Is it possible to porting roms(who maded for for mtk and snapdragon devices)for x86 devices,or I have to build a new one?
Thanks

No because the kernel is completely different, you can only port rom from another x86 devices like Samsung Galaxy Tab 3
Thank you.Is there a guide you are suggesting for building rom for x86 based devices
Impossible.The hardware is different.
