Any way to flash these on Linux? Ubuntu 13.10 to be exact. I get an error every time I try to flash system. I really, really do not want to install Windows on my computer. Every other phone I've owned, it's been no problem until the moto x. I have fastboot installed from android tools. So I think that's why I'm getting an error. I need the Motorola fastboot which I have, but I don't know how to make it so the terminal uses it instead of the system fastboot.

Normally you would use fastboot to relock the boot loader. There is no possibility of communicating with the device in fastboot mode via WiFi.
The only method which has been disclosed which will work via recovery is the following:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068207
but it requires that you previously have captured raw dumps of certain partitions on your phone, due to individualized BCT encryption keys.
TL;DR. No

I read somewhere that there is a program that allows wifi ADB access. The problem is that you would have to install the program on your computer and your tablet. If you can't get it onto the tablet, it doesn't really help.

I think I may have misunderstood partially. I thought there was something wrong where you could not access your tablet at all. If that is not the case, then you should look around for the application I mentioned earlier. I forget what it was called, but it was on one of those "Top 10 apps for root" lists. Just Google "wireless ADB". Hope that helps...

A number of devices allow for the ADB debugger to operate over a network port - wifi, bluetooth, whatever.
But those situations are for when you have a booted OS. (In principle it could be done for a recovery, too, but that matters little).
But the OP asked about re-locking the bootloader.
ADB is worthless for that; at present on the Nexus 7, locking/unlocking the bootloader can only be done either through fastboot or with the technique I mentioned in the link given above. And that latter technique requires advance preparation that the OP did not perform.

Rooting the Moto X

This is more of a PSA:
In case anyone is curious, the current motochopper isn't compatible with the Moto X. Motochopper seem to able to inject the exploit, but failed to inject SuperSU.
Framaroot doesn't seem to work either.
Just need to wait someone much cleverer than myself to root the device!

I can confirm that the exploit doesn't work.
Version on the dev userdebug kernel I have is 3.4.0-xline-eng-g7a0ce30-00001-g79a2847 (built Apr 8)
Version on the other production kernel I have is 3.4.42-xline-gfd1a699-00158-g8990abb (build Jul 20)
I need to get a kernel dump of the production kernel before I try the libperf exploit. I'm not holding my breath on it working since a fix for that exploit came out about a month before that build. I've been trying to see get a transparent proxy inbetween the production phone to see if I can locate where the OTA servers are to try and download an image.
I'm able to take a dump of the userdebug kernel if anyone also has an unlocked bootloader and is interested in being a Guinea pig.

[Q] Canadian Bell Galaxy s4 bootloader locked

Hey @ll. I've just gotten a new SGH-I337M (build number JDQ39.I337MVLUAMG1) from Bell in Canada. I've been trying every root method I can find on the net and they all fail. I started with motochopper running from linux and eventually tried a manual method running psneuter on the device and no go. Tonite I've gotten a winblows vm going and tried odin. FAIL!... I've finally noticed (with a magnifying glass) that when in download mode, the last line of the tiny text in the top right says: WRITE PROTECTION: Enable. From what I've read, I think this means it has a locked bootloader. Is this right? Has anyone heard of this happening with Canadian Bell phones and is there any way around it?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, cfautoroot was the latest one I tried which uses odin. The phone was recognized in the vm and connected to odin just fine so I don't thing using a vm is the problem. As I said, I tried a few methods on the linux system with the phone directly connected as well and got the same results. Everything seems to be working until the point where something has to be written to the device and it fails. Even a manual method where psneuter is transfered to the device and run from there and it won't work.
Well the only thing I can say is try a reall windows machine not some windows vm

Well thats encouraging. It does have the 'M' but several attempts at rooting with recognized methods have all failed. What else could be the problem?
According to the CFAutoroot thread, MG1 should work just fine. You might want to go to that thread (or go back to it) and make sure you read / re-read the entire thread to make sure you are using the proper procedure. Good luck.

I just purchased an S4 BELL SGH-I337M which was on AMG1 when I received it. I flashed TWRP on it and then decided to install stock firmware AMDJ. Then I flashed GUMMY ROM which is pre-rooted. Since I did all this flashing, that also proves it is unlocked so I will have to go along with TRusselo. It is unlocked. :good: I won't say period though, BELL and canadian carriers could change their minds and start locking them.

[Q] Locked BL updated to latest OTA

I was using original stock 4.1.1 version + http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542&highlight=98+18+94 to use xt907 on t-mobile.
Yesterday, I used RSD to restore the 4.1.1 version and OTAed to the latest 98.30.1.XT907.Verizon ROM. Then the t-mobile sim does not work any more, and the original method does not work.
Then I tried to downgrade 4.1.1 version using RSD, and failed. Then I'm stuck in the fastboot mode...
My question is:
1. Is there a way that I can get out of fastboot mode? Which rom should I use in RSD to restore?
2. Is there a way that I can downgrade to earlier version?
3. Is there a way that I can still use t-mobile sim card?
Thanks

Poppers, you're on point. However, there's no Razr M utility for the latest update. You can use House of Moto from DroidRzr or flash the latest OTA with RSD.
Daniel, since you updated to .1, you can't downgrade. Just grab the last FXZ from SBF or use House of Moto to clear the fastboot fail. If your battery is low, you need to make sure it's charged before fastbooting.

Have a Google Edition M8? Look here before you do ANYTHING to it!

As any of you who have the m7 know, I created the ruu to convert a sense m7 to a gpe edition complete with ota's. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358781
We would like to get all the partitions dumped so that we can use the images to fully convert our normal M8's into full fledged Google Edition Ones.
Before you do ANYTHING with it (before you root, before you flash a recovery etc...) Follow these directions courtesy of cschmitt Found Here This will ensure we get all the partitions
I have pasted the steps below. This will help the community out greatly!
script that uses adb to dump and pull every partition from a One, excluding cache (meaningless) and userdata (to large).
He would need adb and fastboot on his computer, no need for S-off, since we are only reading partitions.
Generally the process would be:
Download a recovery from here: DO NOT FLASH! just download it for now..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698134
Enable USB Developer options and USB debugging on phone.
Connect phone to usb, install drivers from zip folder if prompted.
Copy SuperSU-v1.41.zip to sd card. (outdated just download the latest from here: http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.zip)
Reboot into bootloader. (Power off, hold power on an vol-down.)
Open command prompt into \htconedump folder.
Unlock bootloader, fastboot oem unlock should do it.
Reboot back into bootloader (via hboot menu.)
From command prompt:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.3-m8_ul_ca.img (Take note we are not flashing recovery, just booting into it so we can root. If you flash the recovery we will not be able to get the stock GE recovery pulled)
Once TWRP boots,
do a backup of system, boot and recovery (make sure recovery is ticked as it's usually not) untick data (we don't need it for this)
Now lets see if we have root access in recovery.... While still in recovery open up a command prompt on your computer and type "adb shell" without the quotes.. then if it detects the device type "su" your prompt should change from a $ to a #
if that doesn't work then just contact me and we will figure it out if all fails we can just flash super su and then pull the partitions that way and I can just unroot the system partition before I do the conversion
flash SuperSU-v1.41.zip via TWRP to root device.
If you did get root access at the shell now run this:
Run pullmmc01-37.cmd command script from a windows command prompt.
Zip up the dump directory containing all of the mmcblk0p??.bin files.
I've packaged everything up into a zip file containing ADB, fastboot, HTC drivers, superuser.zip, TWRP image, and the pullmmc01-37.cmd command script.
LINK to download DUMP script. This will dump every partition except userdata and cache (paritions mmcblk0p01-mmcblk0p45, 46 and 47 are cache and userdata)
http://d-h.st/aAg
Also make sure to take note of your CID in the bootloader and also report that in this thread. You can get this by running fastboot getvar all while in the bootloader. The MID and the CID will be listed. Please make note of both.
I would advise anyone doing it that they do it without fully setting up the phone because once you unlock the bootloader it will wipe your data. So boot into android and just skip through the whole set up process because you'll just have to do it again after you unlock the bootloader

If buy the google play edition, can i convert it to developer edition and put sense? I know why would anyone want to do that. But just want to try Sense 6. Also, in terms radios google play edition is the best since it has all the radios. Other models have some or the other radio missing.

Yup, you'll be able to go back and forth as long as there is an RUU available. My M7 has been converted to GPE and counverted back countless times!

Awesome, Ordered it now. I would rather have a model with all radios than the carrier crippled ones. Hopefully they ship this baby fast, currently it says April 15th but hopefully we dont have to wait that long.

Still don't see how true that is when the M7 could get LTE on both AT&T and T-Mobile.
Have to wait and see.
Still can, it's the hsdpa T-Mobile it's not compatible with, only aws on lte for AT&T and dev, no aws hsdpa

So....did some reading AND....
If you live in a refarmed 2G area for T-Mobile, than you'll get 4g (aka H+) and be a-okay. T-Mobile LTE will be fine also...given you already live in a lte market.

That's what I figured but I will post my findings when I get the device. I get LTE on most devices I use except Verizon at the moment.

Sorry could've worded that better, The AT&T m8 only supports aws on lte, not on hsdpa. I believe the dev edition is the same. T-Mobile and gpe use both.
