Idon't know i was using the triforce4.0 rom
so i'm guessing MJA because it was working.

OK. Being that you were using Triforce ,your on MJA. So once your on MJA you can't downgrade. Use this to get stock MJA. Should get you back up and running. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522810

Make sure once you Odin flash the full firmware do a full wipe factory reset using recovery . I ran into my phone hanging in yellow screen after flashing stock. After wipe it was all good.

Rooting you need: cfautoroot 1.85, updatesupersu1.65.zip and penguins oudhs cwm recovery.
1. Flash cfautoroot via Odin and let it run its course.
2. Flash cwm recovery via Odin
3. Make sure updatesupersu1.65.zip in ext.sdcard. flash via cwm recovery
4. Go to market and update super su then open and it will prompt to update files. Voila...

Restoring sprint gs4 Bloatware help

So, long story short I rooted my sprint gs4 mja and killed some bloatware. Later my phone started overheating and having connection issues. I looked online and people said the remedy to the heat issue was to factory reset so i did. To my horror the problem still existed so I did some research and found out certain bloatware shouldn't be removed because it can cause these symptoms.
So anyway to get those apps back or re-install mja and mf9?
Also I have another small concern I would like an answer for which I cant find.
when I rooted and factory rested my gs4 I tried to install Cyanogenmod on it by using apply update from external storage in stock recovery all I got was errors and it booted me back into recovery. I then booted and stock rom came up.
After this I noticed I had some glitches in stock rom, could these glitchs have come from me trying to install CM from recovery?
Maybe odin back to stock mf9, take mja ota and reroot?
---------- Post added at 02:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:28 AM ----------
You don't install custom roms or recoveries with the stock recovery, for ghat you have to be rooted first, then install custom recovery, search for twrp 2.5.0.2. Tar file and flash with odin, then you will be able to flash things.

Yes you can, first root the phone with cf autoroot and then install a custom recovery. Make sure you know what you are doing because MJA is an all new animal. If you mess up you can't just odin MJA back to the phone since we don't have a full tar file of MJA. This means even a soft brick of your phones is a real hassle to recover from. Also, people have reported bootloops and other problems trying to restore backups with the new MJA. Once you have applied the MJA update, the bootloader will prevent you from downgrading the firmware so you can't odin MF9 or older firmware and you can't reapply the update since the update will stop once it sees the MJA bootloader is already installed. Tread carefully, until we have a full tar of MJA that you can use to return to stock after a screw up or brick.

Firmware Upgrade Encountered an issue...please help

So I tried updating from 4.2.2 to 4.3 using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2509605
Needless to say that didn't work and I have no clue what to do.
I flashed back with Odin to stock MF9 just like the tutorial said to. Then I downloaded the MJA rom, put it on my SD card, went into recovery, and installed it. It seemed like it succeeded, but then I got stuck in a boot loop..So I booted into download mode and tried flashing back to MF9 but that failed and now I'm stuck with the error "Firmware Upgrade Encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". But that recovery mode thing won't work, and neither does attempting to flash back to stock MF9, so I have no idea what to do. I cannot boot into recovery either. Please help.

[Q] Bricked while rooting. Download but no recovery mode, stuck in bootloop.

I was rooting an S4 and bricked the phone. It sticks in the Samsung logo bootloop. I had TWRP recovery on there and now phone won't boot into recovery mode. I can only boot into download mode. Kies says the device times out while trying to connect and won't recognize anything connected for firmware recoveries. My computer installs drivers for it when I connect in bootloop but doesn't charge the phone. I have tried using Odin to flash recovery and a custom rom (which is where all the trouble started), factory recovery and factory rom to reset everything and Odin fails during the writing portion of the procedure. ADB and fastboot don't even detect a device and all attempts to push, install, recover etc have all been failures. I haven't yet began to Google about JTAG but I've heard that's what you have to do for seriously F'd devices. Any suggestions?

I have tried. It's impossible to write anything to the phone. I can't load past the Samsung screen. I can't boot into recovery. I can boot into download and my computer recognizes the phone is plugged, but no data can be read or written from the phone and i'm unsure whether it charges or not (the icon when the phone is powered off but plugged in is a gray battery with the arrow circle in the middle but it doesn't spin). I can't flash anything onto it from Odin. ADB doesn't recognize it. Fastboot doesn't recognize it.

I had the same problem. I had to install Phils recovery through Odin. Luckily, I had a stock rooted 4.3 rom downloaded to my ad card. Flashed it using the new recovery. If you don't have a 4.3 stock rooted rom, there are odex/deodex rims in the development section.

[Q] First try rooting phone and now its bricked help plz

Ok so i have been working on this for hours now. I have never rooted a my phone before and i decided to try. I rooted it no problem and set up a nandroid recovery with goomanager. Then i tried to enable hotspot using QBKing77's tutorial on youtube by adding custom files in the system folder. when i restarted i was stuck at the sprint yellow screen. I started recovery mode and tried to recover my previous back up. It did not work and i think it made things worse. Now my custom recovery is gone and i tried to install the original sprint rom in adin and it keeps failing at when i gets to nand write. I have no clue whats wrong. Is there any way to erase the entire phone are reinstall everything similar to a wipe and load on a computer?
We need a little more info, what software version were you on? MF9 MJA, MK2??? This is important because once you are on MJA or MK2 you cannot go back to the older versions because of the knox bootloader. The odin error you are reporting usually happens when you are trying to install an older than MJA version on an MJA or newer phone. Make sure you download either the MJA full tar file or the MK2 full tar file and try again. It's very important that you know what version you are on before you start installing mods, this is why your phone failed to boot after installing the hotspot mod.

You may not need the pit file I would try it with out it first. This is where i got got my pit sxtpdevelopers . com /showthread.php?t=235
This is for the sprint galaxy s4 though. Don't use if you have a different carrier. Put the pit file in the in Odin in the pit tab and the Android 4.3 tar file in the pda tab. It should work then. Again I would try without the pit file first.

I've been looking so I could link you but I'm outta time! If you can still get to download mode you need a tar file of either mk2 or mja stock and then use Odin 3.07 and push it back in! Rooted or unrooted shouldn't matter but from what all I've seen and read this is about the only option you have!! Now this being if you were on mja or mk2 before you started!

i337 root help

I just picked up an S4 SGH-i337. It is running 4.3.
I tried rooting it with the Lokifyed tool. It installed Superuser, but I don't think it rooted the phone because I could not install SuperSU and it could not install CWM either.
After that did not work, I tried using Odin with Chainfire auto-root, but it kept on failing.
I tried using Odin to put the stock firmware unroot file and failed too.
Sometimes it will shut off when I plug it in.
Any ideas on getting my phone to work?
Here is an update.
I got it rooted successfully. I used Lokifyed 3-way tool to install TWRP, now the phone only boots into download mode. It will not boot into recovery nor normal mode.

The ROM that you are flashing should match the base version on your phone.
If you havent yet used Deadly Venom Kitkat Magic tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2680868), you should be flashing a ROM that is based on Android 4.3 and NOT Android 4.4.2.

You cannot flash a custom recovery on the phones with the locked bootloader (from MF3 onwards). The phone will still work but you will not be able to get to recovery mode.
Incorrect, you flash safe strap then there is another file posted by shabbypenguin
I'll get you the links to the forums that have everything one I get home, I'm running errands with my dad right now.
by the way I successfully Flashed deadly venom, but what you had to do is flash the venom Rom and Thenusing the deadly venoms magic tool, also flash the MDL zip file and lastly I had to flash 3 MDL files using Odin. So I flashed a 4.4.2 Rom on 4.3 mk2 and was still able to get to the custom recovery.
I tried to flash shostock and it doesn't load also the first time I flashed it, I flashed it in the stock Rom profile instead of the other profiles, It got stuck in an infinite boot loop going from SS to the stock recovery then back to SS
Give me a few hours and I'll figure out how to flash shostock after I help you fix your phones stuck booting process, I'm running errands with my dad but I should be home soon.

ok so you have safestrap installed good, now check this forum out and you need to flash this as well before flashing shostock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291956
then im still trying to figure out how to flash shostock ill get back to you as soon as i find out how. im not sure if we need to use deadly venom magic tool or not...
next question, is your phone working at all? did you flash shostock in the stock profile or did you create another and flash it in like the rom 1 profile?
if your phone isnt working at all meaning you cant get it to fully boot but it still turns on and tries to boot, then you may have to Odin back to mk2. or whatever you had before.
if you want to go ahead and flash back to mk2 or mf3 stock heres some instructions.
you need Odin on your computer. you can find it by googleing it or it is in deadly venoms magic tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2680868
all you need from the magic tool is odin and the configuration file which are right next to each other.
i suggest using peazip to extract rar files btw...
peazip.sourceforge.net/peazip-portable.html
then you can find the stock files here
mf3, (4.2.2 the tar file download)
mk2 (4.3)
on the 4.3 thread, at the end of post 2 there is actually a dowload for odin availible.
now just flash it back. P.s. this WILL wipe your phone completely, if you dont have titanium backup, i strongly suggest getting it from the app store afterwards
hit the thanks button if i helped you, it'll be my second thanks.

ok so you have safestrap installed good, now check this forum out and you need to flash this as well before flashing shostock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291956
then im still trying to figure out how to flash shostock ill get back to you as soon as i find out how. im not sure if we need to use deadly venom magic tool or not...
next question, is your phone working at all? did you flash shostock in the stock profile or did you create another and flash it in like the rom 1 profile?
if your phone isnt working at all meaning you cant get it to fully boot but it still turns on and tries to boot, then you may have to Odin back to mk2. or whatever you had before.
if you want to go ahead and flash back to mk2 or mf3 stock heres some instructions.
you need Odin on your computer. you can find it by googleing it or it is in deadly venoms magic tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2680868
all you need from the magic tool is odin and the configuration file which are right next to each other.
i suggest using peazip to extract rar files btw...
peazip.sourceforge.net/peazip-portable.html
then you can find the stock files here
mf3, (4.2.2 the tar file download)
mk2 (4.3)
on the 4.3 thread, at the end of post 2 there is actually a dowload for odin availible.
now just flash it back. P.s. this WILL wipe your phone completely, if you dont have titanium backup, i strongly suggest getting it from the app store afterwards
hit the thanks button if i helped you, it'll be my second thanks.

No my phone is not working at all. It just gets stuck in the boot samsung screen. I can get it into the download mode or the stock recovery screen, nothing else.
I believe I flashed shostock into the stock profile.
How long is deadly venom supposed to take? It seems to just get stuck at SBL2 and does not go any further.
I'm not worried about anything on the phone, I would rather go back to stock and start all over.

You're going to have to flash the mk2 tar file in Odin. Check the general forum for the tar

Odin keeps failing whenever I try to flash anything on it. Do you have an exact link to the file I need?

Here's the link to the thread that has the Odin tar - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2621279
Does it fail when writing aboot?
Did you by any chance update to NB1 before? If so, you can flash only NB1 stock.

It would usually fail at sbl1 or aboot. I just tried it again and this time failed at XmitData
It just stays in aboot for a long time and then fails after hours.

Please do a lot more reading as your above incorrect statement will cause problems for anybody trying to install any recovery other than SafeStrap for MK2 based firmwares. If other methods worked for MK2 then there would be a thread for it. There isn't, cause nothing works as a custom recovery for MK2 except Safestrap. Reading saves phones!

The typical suspect in this case is either the USB port or the cable. It works best when the stock cable is used.

Are you sure it works on ATT S4 running 4.3 firmware? It might work on the older bootloaders but will definitely not work on the newer ones.

RECOVERY
Safestrap is the ONLY recovery we can use. Don't even try flashing another one. HUGE thanks @Hashcode.

I got it working now with a new cable. Thanks for all the help! I'm on Safestrap now, how would I be able to get shostock-i on my phone? Or do I change to NB1? If so, how would I do that?
Thanks for helping me out, I'm a noob at this. I came from an S2 and it was simpler.

After flashing CWM, are you able to boot into recovery? If so, please do confirm you have a I337 and not I337M phone. If you have I337 and you are able to boot into CWM recovery, you should start a new thread. Because, no one here at XDA has succeeded in doing this.
What has usb debugging got to do with Odin? When flashing using Odin, the phone is in download mode.
