Nandroid Backup / USB OTG / CWM - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi ,
Can anyone guide me on how to crease a Nandroid Backup via USB OTG using CWM ? . I can`t seem to find my usb drive ( even after mounting in CWM )
Tried the Nandroid Backup manager app as well . But to no use .

Hi,
You need a version of CWM which support OTG (unofficial versions), take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2468858.
I use CWM with my OTG cable and it works fine. In CWM you need to mount your "external sd"...
After with a file explorer, and with the OTG cable plugged, go to /sdcard/usbStorage/sda1 and you'll find your backup...

I use TWRP with OTG, I can do directly to the USB flash drive backups, everything works great

What version of twrp are you using with the OTG cable? And you have an option in Mounts for Mount USB-OTG?
Thanks

There is an option to mount, but you can choose whether internally or OTG

Help! everything wiped but cannot find restore file

I was going to restore via nandroid backup, so i went into clockwork and did a full data cache davik wipe, however when i go to restore, it says no file found!!! i donno how the hell did the nandroid escaped from the phone.. so now im stuck at the recovery.
Now i can't access the phone's sd, because theres no OS on the phone, nor the sd card because its built in. How do i push a ROM in so i can flash it?
If you "mount USB storage" through ClockworkMod(Mounts and Storage), you can transfer the .zip to sdcard via USB and then unmount and flash it.
Thank you very much! Omg im soooo noob.. ;p

Could not mount data and sdcard partition [solution]

Hi, I am new on android world, and dont know if i did crap with my phone:
I had FoxHound rom with Adam Kernel and CWM. So, I decided to flash the "4.3" google version. Until there, its ok.
But, i downloaded a version of pre-rooted 4.2.2 google version, and wanted to flash it. And i had the stupid idea of formating ALL things on CWM Mount and Storage menu.
Then, my phone didnt started on custom recovery... so, i flashed Philz Touch. The phone now start on custom recovery, but i flashed 2 different roms, and it no boot... well, he boots, but keep on bootscreen and dont pass. What can i do, please? (Sorry for the english...)

Same thing happened to me. I can't fix it.
I tried this: (1) Odin TWRP, (2) boot recovery, (3) wipe data, (4) factory reset, (5) install rom
After this I can boot up but if I reboot it gets stuck at logo unless I redo these steps

I just tried this and it worked. You have to find stock firmware for your device
(1) Put into download mode then Odin stock firmware (uncheck everything)
(2) Unplug USB cable & pull battery
(3) Boot into Samsung recovery
(4) Factory Reset & wipe data
Before I tried to factory reset with TWRP or CWM and it didn't work. Try to factory reset with Samsung recovery instead

Ooooohhhhhh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah man! It worked. It seems that Samsung Kernel get a clean format of the broken partition, and the others kernels dont do it.
Thank you.

Did you do a backup of your stock Rom?
Sent from my LS980 running PA 4.4.4 KitKat using Tapatalk???
If you wiped out system you lose your OS, so Android will not boot up anymore. As you wiped out /data partition you lose backups if any. So you need to flash the whole ROM via download mode from PC.

Incorrect. If you wipe data, TWRP will not wipe your SD card. Only by selecting internal SD will it then wipe your SD card. Data partition only holds your setup configs/user apps/etc.

If you have a USB OTG cable, you can load a ROM on it and connect it to your device and flash via TWRP. Make sure to mount the OTG first or it mount show up.

Sorry. Thought the whole /data partition was wiped, not only /data/data.

Need help on USB-OTG (TWRP v2.8.6.1)

Hello, i just installed TWRP on my G2 D802 via AutoRec v2. I downloaded it from Google Play Store.
I was on Blisspop Rom. I wanted to install Cloudy G2. I reboot to Recovery and then wipe Dalvik, system, Data and cache. After that i tried install rom via USB-OTG but my recovery didn't show USB.
I try mount USB but can't click.
How can i install rom now?
