Could not mount data and sdcard partition [solution] - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I am new on android world, and dont know if i did crap with my phone:
I had FoxHound rom with Adam Kernel and CWM. So, I decided to flash the "4.3" google version. Until there, its ok.
But, i downloaded a version of pre-rooted 4.2.2 google version, and wanted to flash it. And i had the stupid idea of formating ALL things on CWM Mount and Storage menu.
Then, my phone didnt started on custom recovery... so, i flashed Philz Touch. The phone now start on custom recovery, but i flashed 2 different roms, and it no boot... well, he boots, but keep on bootscreen and dont pass. What can i do, please? (Sorry for the english...)

Same thing happened to me. I can't fix it.
I tried this: (1) Odin TWRP, (2) boot recovery, (3) wipe data, (4) factory reset, (5) install rom
After this I can boot up but if I reboot it gets stuck at logo unless I redo these steps

I think we need the pit file to rebuild partition table. But I can not find it. Anyone have a link?

I just tried this and it worked. You have to find stock firmware for your device
(1) Put into download mode then Odin stock firmware (uncheck everything)
(2) Unplug USB cable & pull battery
(3) Boot into Samsung recovery
(4) Factory Reset & wipe data
Before I tried to factory reset with TWRP or CWM and it didn't work. Try to factory reset with Samsung recovery instead

Ooooohhhhhh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah man! It worked. It seems that Samsung Kernel get a clean format of the broken partition, and the others kernels dont do it.
Thank you.

Bootloop after Nand Erase All in Odin

Please help.
I'm stuck on bootloop after flashing stock XXUAME2 rom with Odin.
The reason is - I checked/enabled the "Nand Erase All" before flashing. I know, stupid. But what should I do now to unbrick it?
Well, firstly I successfully flashed stock ME2 over my MDM with Odin. But all my stuff was still there (apps, huge files and so on - which I already backed up on my pc) and my memory was almost full. So I wanted to clean everything before flashing TWRP and a custom rom. And then I checked the freaking Nand Erase.
Now, I tried to flash TWRP and do a factory reset/full wipe, but couldn't even enter into recovery mode (vol up+home+power) - it shows "GT-I9505 logo" with small blue text "recovery mode" on top of the screen and then it quickly returns to power off state (with battery charging animation).
The Download/Odin mode is working, thank God. But flashing a stock rom from Odin doesn't solve the problem of bootloop.
I've read that after a nand erase it is needed to flash a PIT file to fix it. Any suggestions where to download it? What version of a PIT file should i look for?
Thank you, guys in advance.
I dont think it will do the job.
I think that nand erase has wiped partitions data.
Any way try with pit. It is in my signature. (Choose right pit file)

Thank you, but flashing PIT didn't work - I made everything according your instructions. Still bootloop.
Maybe I need to reflash Bootloader/Phone/CSC?

go into recovery, if it is possible, wipe data and cache, then flash with odin the stock firmware in pda with the pit file in pit window. just check auto reboot, f.reset and re-partition. when it say "pass" remove battery, re-insert it, go to recovery, wipe data and cache reboot.
im afraid that ticking "nand erase all" in odin, usually lead to a hard brick!

Duuude! It worked!!!!
Even without flashing param partition. Just the first step:
go into recovery (I flashed CWM with Odin), if it is possible, wipe data and cache, then flash with odin the stock firmware in pda with the pit file in pit window. just check auto reboot, f.reset and re-partition. (then it went into bootloop as usual and after a moment Odin said "pass") when it say "pass" remove battery, re-insert it, go to recovery (the recovery at that moment returned to stock), wipe data and cache reboot.

Never and Ever tick "NAND ERASE ALL" in odin
next time, if you want to erase data, do it from recovery.

Sure! And for the next time what exactly should I pick from recovery to erase everything? apart from wipe data/cashe/factory reset? There are also some format options in advanced menu (format system, data, cashe, dalvik cashe and so on). Or I should not touch anything there anymore? )))

no need for format system..
if you format system, then it must be a ready custom rom in your sd card to flash via cwm. or you must flash stock via odin.
wiping data and cache and dalvik is enough
Thanks very much everyone who partisipated in this thread! You saved me a lot of time and a lot of effort! I was stuck in the boot screen because i formated the whole system. I tried that solution and worked for me! Thanks very very much!

you dont need param file just redo this:
go into recovery, if it is possible, wipe data and cache, then flash with odin the stock firmware in pda with the pit file in pit window. just check auto reboot, f.reset and re-partition. when it says "pass" remove battery, re-insert it, go to recovery, wipe data and cache reboot.

if stock recovery didnt work at first, flash any custom recovery and make the wipe.
it is important to use pit file with the firmware.

GT-I9505 Bricked

Hi, I have a big problem.
I flashed this ROM on the phone: I9505XXUDMH8-PRE-ROOTED-KNOX_FREE-ODEX-FULL
And all was fine.
A few days later, the phone started lag a lot and google services (like the play store) crashed.
So, I put the teamwin recovery, I tried to do a "wipe data", but data, system, efs, cache results impossible to mount.
At this point I flashed again: "I9505XXUDMH8-PRE-ROOTED-KNOX_FREE-ODEX-FULL.", the phone has booted, but the process "system" and google services crashed.
I flashed the clockwork recovery, I mounted and formatted "data", "cache", "system" wipe data factory, wipe cache and wipe Dalvik cache and then I flashed with odin the file "I9505XXUDMH8-PRE-ROOTED-KNOX_FREE-ODEX -FULL. ", but the phone didn't pass the write "samsung".
At the end, I downloaded the file I9505XXUDMHB_I9505ITVDMI2_ITV and I flashed with the "pit", but the phone still not pass the bootanimation. Please, help.
Thanks.

TM-535 Stocks on Samsung Logo / Loading Apps after Boot / Important DATA / TWRP Insta

Hi there, i've got a big problem. I flashed recently my sisters school tab with custom recovery (TWRP) to delete the forgotten password, worked well. But afterwards, the school write her an email, that the tab is rooted (Was not rooted, but SU App appears) so i decided to flash the stock recovery back. This also works well on first boot but after cleaning cache, its stocks on Samsung logo. Now i flashed TWRP back and cleaned dalvik cache/cache, on first boot is passes the samsung logo and Andriod os loading apps appears and stucks (i let it run over the night.). So how can i fix this without any data lose, app lose? I cant do a factory reset because of her school config...I dont know which android version is installed.

Encryption that can't be formated

Hi,
I set up TWRP 2.8.7.0 and cm-13.0-20160129 on my Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A (GT-I9506), and run into an odd problem where it would work after install, but would not work after a reboot (booting screen would just roll for ever). Installing CM again, would work, and than the problem would still be there. Mindlessly I decided to play a little anyway and set up encryption. The phone ended up rebooting, and not loading, so I'm here without a password (default_password doesent work) and with an encrypted /data that TWRP cant wipe or format

I've attempted to use ADB to format it, but it seems parted isnt installed. With that phone being a less popular variant I'm kind of afraid to just flash whatever there, but I guess I need a recovery with a least parted, or possibly one that would be able to format the drive itself. Any pointers?
Have you tried flashing a stock ROM via Odin? Is this your phone: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-I9506/ ?
not yet; I don't have windows, and didn't see any point in changing the soft used for flashing, will try but cant download the polish rom at the moment o0 (ends up with a dead link or a server down?)
I know of no other way to flash a stock ROM from sammobile.com other than Odin.
Did you create a free account on sammobile.com to enable the regular download?

You can also flash it with Heimdall. It's the open source variant of Odin.
aaaand I'm back, managed to download, got some windows, flashed to stock using odin, and it's still encrypted. is running 'repartition' from odin safe? I've noticed some warnings against it but without any explanations.
edit; running the same operation with repartition failed. this bloody encryption might be able to survive nuclear war.
After flashing back to stock via Odin, did you perform a factory wipe before booting the rom for the first time?

never managed to do that. I wonder what advantage does the wipe from factory ROM have over custom recoveries... anyways thanks to all who helped, the issue is solved. also it seems that the problems with non-rebooting CM were my mistake of not wiping the cache/dalvik after install
I find that a wipe using a custom recovery is not always as through as a stock recovery. Can't say how or why, it's just based on my experience with Samsung and Nexus phones.

I think the difference is that a custom recovery only wipes /data partition so that the internal sdcard will not be wiped. The stock recovery formats /data partition. When you want to lose encryption you need to format /data partition.
You can also format the /data partition with a custom recovery, but that option is hidden for good reason. Because it will also format your internal sdcard and that's not something we want to do when changing roms.

No OS to boot

Help help help!!! I am having a strange issue since last night. Wanted to install the MIUI ROM and since I was earlier on nougat I thought I will do a clean install so installed the stock Marshmallow ROM freshly And installed the TWRP through ODIN and as usual after installing the TWRP, also flashed no decrypt thing and also did Format. Now it says there is no OS to boot. Flashed this ROM but still no luck. So basically when I do Format it's wiping out the OS as well and after that no matter what I flash its not booting up. Tried the whole process some 5 times with no luck. What on the earth could be possibly doing wrong? How is it wiping out the OS too when I do the Format? This is the first time it has happened to me. Any help is really appreciated!!!
Use Odin to flash stock rom and then start from scratch.
Did that 4 times now and the same damn thing is happening. Tried different versions of TWRP too but with no luck. This is so frutrating

TWRP has nothing to do with Odin. Does Odin 'pass' when you flash stock? What files are you flashing with Odin?
The phone boots up when i flash the Stock ROM through Odin, but when i install the TWRP and then do the Format option, Its wiping the OS too. Very strange. And later it doesnt boot up irrespective of what ROM i flash. Tried it so manytimes and same thing is happening.

---------- Post added at 08:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:09 PM ----------
If you are going to wipe anything, only dalvik and cache.
After installing the TWRP, the internal storage shows as 0mb until i format it completely. Hence have to Format.

so, odin stock, reboot...it loads, right? Odin TWRP and reboot. Shouldn't be any wiping required that way
http://www.cyanogenmods.org/forums/topic/install-twrp-recovery-samsung-android-using-odin/
Well i dont know how you did it, but it clearly says in the tutorial that after installing the TWRP the phone needs to be formatted. And if i dont, then the TWRP wouldnt recognize my internal storage. Hence i have to format it completely. The strange thing is, i have done it in the past and it would never wipe the OS but for some reason its doung now.

Well the problem at the moment is, if i dont wipe it completely after installing TWRP, the internal storage shows as 0 mb. Doesnt this happen to all? And the internal storage shows up only after i do a complete wipe. What could be possibly wrong? And is full wipe supposed to wipe the OS as well?

Why don't you just install twrp and reboot to see what happens.
Let me give that a try. I am sure it reboots normally. But for installing a custom ROM i need to wipe it completely and thats when the OS is getting wiped too.

Thats a totally different issue. To install a new rom, put it on your sd card, fully wipe device then install new rom. After you make a twrp backup of course.
Well thats when i am facing this issue. After installing the twrp i tried installing a custom ROM and it says cant mount storage. And when i wipe it completely and flash a ROM,it doesnt boot up. Have been flashing for years now, this had never happened. What i am not able to understand is, hows it wiping the OS too. Bluddy frutrating.

Use the FORMAT DATA button. It's right there under the WIPE options next to the ADVANCED WIPE button. That should solve your problems.
Well now i have installed the twrp and it did boot normally, but again in TWRP the internal storage is showing as 0mb. And FORMAT DATA is what i have been doing each time and its formatting the OS too.
