Is there anyway I could still flash a rom if i am not rooted, I see some roms come with root if you flash it. Someone please explain to me thank you
You don't need to be rooted but need to have access to a custom recovery. What firmware are you on?
We can assume your phone is an ATT model but your profile says your a Tmobile customer.

No way to root or put on a custom recovery.

Are you 4.3 rom or 4.3 updated
Sent from my ATT S4 MF3 using Tapatalk
4.3 updated
K thats what I thought .even if you achieved root there is no custom recovery for that update and no Safestrap either.

so i guess a long wait is what it is huh

He means a ROM he could flash without losing the exploit, not the actual update.
Just wait and one should be created like it was for MF3, otherwise you'll have to settle for any other 4.3 ROM. You could always check the international section for their stock 4.3 or something.
I hope someone will create one

In the mean time you could try this. It's based on mj9. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42294395
Hey guys new to the S4 thread, just updated from the S2 decided to go with this over the N5 because of a few features. I plan to root my device, but need a bit of help. I'm on 4.2.2 and wanted to know how should I go about rooting? Should I update to 4.3 then root or root on 4.2.2 thanks!
Root mf9 and stay on that

Is updating to a rooted version on 4.3 ok?
Staying on 4.2 is highly recommended. The Knox bootloader on 4.3 is no good. If you really want 4.3, go here and follow the instructions to stay on the MF9 bootloader.

All I can say to help is that I just rooted and installed CWM yesterday from 4.3 and all seems well. I say update, then root as the devs for this phone will stay on top of update issues anyways.

I personally don't care about being able to go back to MF9 anyways. I did the OTA to 4.3, rooted it and put Sac's ROM (4.3 edition) on it and do not regret it at all!! 4.3 is snappier and I get amazing battery life. Just my 2 pennies though! Hopefully we get 4.4 by January-February... definitely hopefully before Valentines Day.
hey guys... im on 4.3 MK2 rooted, can i install a 4.2.2 rom stock or custom ?? with 4.2.2 modem and bootloader.
thanks.
If you updated by keeping the MF9 bootloader you can go back to stock. If you took the OTA however, you can only downgrade to 4.2 with a custom ROM.

but i can downgrade to 4.2 (100% 4.2) using a custom rom?? or i will be on 4.2 but with the same new bootloader?
what custom rom would work in my case? if you can give me a link to one.. there are so many here.
If you're on the MJA or MK2 bootloader, you're stuck with it.
And why would you want to go back to 4.2? Any ROM would work, but seems kind of pointless.

i downgraded the modem to mdc and did the unlock process. it worked, i can make and receive calls but when the phone is going to 3g i get a error message "LTE esm 29 emm-x cannot establish wireless data connection" nobody else had that issue.. i dont know if hte fact that my phone is not activated on spring is relevant.. it shouldn't be, because im using the phone outside the US.
i dont know what to do to make this thing work.. i have flashed from mdc to mk2 or mja like 5 times and i always get the same message.
Hi I read almost all post but I don't find my answer so I need help from you guys, I cant update to 4.3 from ota my phone is stock but is unlocked so I still don't receive any ota or kies update, my band is I337UCUAMDL, and in all post I see only MF3 to MK2, but what can I do to update to 4.3? thanks

thanks but i will like to update my phone, do you think i can on a stock firmare?
This thread has the MF3 file you can use to upgrade manually.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2502003
I honestly have not read it so I don't know if there are instructions. I got the link for that thread from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2526964
That one just provided the link to the other but was helpful to me in upgrading from MF3. Hopefully after you manually upgrade to MF3 your phone will auto upgrade to MK2.

Yes but you shouldn't update that phone. Seriously. If you want to enjoy that device, you'll listen to me. If you update that device to MF3 or later, you'll be really upset once you realize that you lost the gifts that MDL brings. Read up before you mess up a golden opportunity.

Check this out ....ONE CLICK TOOL....so easy and nothing easier than this on MF3 or MK2 firmware......Trust me.....what u got to lose? but u losing full control of your phone when u update to MF3 or MK2. All u need to do is press 1.2.3 etc....ROOT your phone....INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY...INSTALL CUSTOM 4.3 ROM and your problem solved with galaxy gear.....:good:....If u don't like it flash to stock....#5....wolla back to MDL stock.....and then maybe we can do some business....( i trade mine plus 64Gb Sd Card )......
I can't tell if OP is the real deal or is trolling us hardcore. My eyeballs almost bulged out reading the 'what so special about MDL' line?
Hi i was just wondering if there has been a root method for the 4.4.2 OTA update. I updated a few weeks back and have been dying for root access.
The baseband version is N900VVRUCNC4.
Thanks in advance!

Think there's any possibility we'll get it? I would hate to have to sell this device and move on
Im sure there will be in time?
Would we be able to downgrade thru Odin and then root and then flash rooted version of 4.4.2?

Doubt it...most of the devs that might be capable moved on from Verizon and really do not care. The reason being soon as a exploit is found and released it then is patched by the next update. It's a cat and mouse game not worth playing. There are methods out there that allow you have rooted 4.4.2, The sticky at the top of this section explains it all. "Never Accept OTA Updates".

No The Verizon N3 is model N900V and this article deals with the UK model N900
Also, in the UK the status of the Knox warranty counter doesn't matter. In the US it does.
