New x10 gingerbread video

Just a video I stumbled across on the upcoming update. It's in Hebrew but at least we can see the performance improvements the update will bring at least.

its because the locale is set to hebrew, because they write and read from right to left instead of from left to right.

it llooks real can't wait , it runs soo damn smooth , it was worth the wait and i think its probly not the final final finalized update they probly still tweaking bbut man i think who ever got there hands on this leaked it out ,am so amazed by how smooth and the responds so good , by them doing a review mean its gona be here probly next week cause its the last week of july

our 2.2 custom roms specially MIUI are much faster then this one
i am just waiting for a full working MIUI 2.3.3 ROM

i really hope for better call quality because that, in my opinion, is the #1 reason wrong with x10. it SUCKS as a phone.

Why no FPS is good thing...anyways i guess we can remove that on our own now
no 16 M colors..you can see the diff with 65k and 16 m colors on a youtube video
no multitouch..had their been multitouch the guy would have SHOWN IT
ROM seems to be bit laggy specially while switching screens and turning on from a black screen,but yeah faster than 2.1 official

well... from what I have seen in this video must admit that this will be the first usable ''out-of-the-box'' firmware ever made by SE, so in conclusion, let the Devs make their job and we can enjoy our x10's as it was ment to be enjoyed ;-)

lol my unlocked one is on .518.... They really need to update it! Getting a lot of noise in photos using superior auto... Also battery life when using display is awful!

Its 100% a software issue as pretty much everyone is getting it... I just hope they release the firmware soon as waiting 1 month like you had to for the ZU is too long...

I guess no. This might be a test build for the path towards stable Kitkat.
Certified doesnt always mean that it would be rolled.

I guess sony will go straight to 4.4KK...

It could be like last update: 14.2.A.1.114 (certified) ==> 14.2.A.1.124 (certified) ==> 14.2.A.1.136 certified and released.
So again: wait and drink a cup of tea

After releasing New Flagship Device they might release kitkat for Z range

Therefore, that it's only a minor number forward from the last fw (136), it won't be anything near kitkat!
Maybe a minor Bugfix or extended update from 136 but nothing major!
Wait until the buildnumber changes to 14.3.X. to guess when kitkat will arrive, just a hint

Kitkat won't be out before Barcelona - that's 100% and this could go out, maybe it's just some regional patch.
But it's nothing big - that's obvious from build number.

I'm actually really impressed by the rate of updates for the Z1 so far. Granted this might not be released, but it looks like Sony has finally learned to be decently constant with updates.

i thought some Danish Carrier leaked out that 4.4 KitKat was coming to the Z1 in March
cant find the site at the mo but will look again later

It was a polish carrier presenting the list when the Z will be updated, not the Z1!
The Z1 will most probably be updated first though

Yeah...They are working like crazy and fixing updates very quickly...
They are finally listening what we are talking...
And now with premium and elegant device like Z1 (and Z2 in the future) and great software - Sony will be the best choice (for me it always was)

That are mainly hardware issues and I really doubt it could be ever fixed...
Maybe they will succeed to make it better - like touchscreen sensitivity and yellow tint...
But that's not software - I'm 100% sure, why?
Because I'm using 290 firmware and it's working fantastic.
Without any touchscreen problems, with real white and black colors on screen and with great battery life...
Every single firmware I tried worked perfectly...534, 290 or 136 - without a single glitch.

Actually the Yellow tint is a known software, not hardware problem . The touchscreen problem is iffy, some say hardware while some say software. I actually would say the Z1 is almost flawless hardware wise, the problems start on the software side (yellow tint, camera, bluetooth, etc.)
It's good because that means Sony can fix most of the problems on the Z1. They already fixed yellow tint and bluetooth, now the touchscreen and camera optimization should happen soon.

I would say it's mix, it's a software, O.K but only on some devices which are using different screens and other parts (bluetooth chip and other parts).
It's impossible that you have problems and I don't have if we all have exactly the same hardware...
So the conclusion would be - we are both half right

Meh... That would kinda suck... Dev would've to port tap2wake from Z2\Z into custom kernel (which we still don't have) and that might take quite a looooong time =(

Was only waiting for kitkat only if smartcall and tap to wake up were in it... I dont see the point of upgrading.. :S

Since rollout is starting for our phone, when can we expect it?

Nothing in real life is true about that,kitkat is still buggy and has some battery drain problems,most of the people reported that they had less battery drain with 4.3 so we shall see(nexus 7 2013 kitkat user here)

Not motivated enough.. battery life already a charm and performance already a beast.. so.. its not worth it to update 4.3 to 4.4 just for the sake of changing the number..

I don't think that you don't want even better battery life .
Also, there are other improvements (like with the camera), new features, as quoted in my prev. post.

Any info on how Sony is handling the whole microSD debacle with its 4.4 KitKat firmware?
I use my microSD to store music and videos only, but I'm wondering if the 4.4 firmware can get me any problems with wifi syncing software (AirDroid, Cheetah Sync), or any 3rd party media player such as MX Player...

Would you be so kind to test the camera improvements after update? Maybe the new version fixes the blurriness, noisiness and low light performance of the camera I wouldn't expect to remove the flash bleed but... who knows... maybe they played with the flash timing somehow...

The update is via pc companion or OTA?

I will not update till having a safe and certain way to roll back and a rooted 4.4 rom... My 4.3 stock with root is almost perfect, no reason to change after reading the changelog. Just curiosity

things you would change about the z1

Just a couple things I would change as overall I'm happy with the phone...
The bezels are huge considering the screen size. I would love a tighter fitting chassis.
I have a 6906 so I would love to be able to unlock the boot loader. The entire root process was very complex compared to every phone I've owned. It is needlessly difficult for a new user.
Viewing angles could be better.
Aside from that I'm very happy with this phone.
What would you change?

any way to change the colour of the Font in notification bar, that white on grey looks pretty bad (no root)

Apply screen protectors straight out of the box (front & back high quality made in Japan ones) and then you don't have to worry about the ASF.

actually they tense to do that with lot of the exclusive software side features after the new device is 6 months old. By the time the older devices get them, they also get the newer version. Like background defocus, the whole social camera thing all were released to older device that didn't ship with them.

I find the sound for speakerphone and watching videos is terrible

I would give it some optimization love. The hardware is great, but it's performance is very bad. Ecspecially the ui makes it look like a low end device because of all the lags and stutters. Sad story. :'(

What is your setup then? And tbh, this makes me feel really bad because of me having this device for just a month or something. And even with a clean install of stock firmware it gives problems with that. Meanwhile the benchmarks etc are really good. 34k in antutu is no problem. That's also why i don't understand what's going on.

I'm getting there also, i noticed that an app i used caused quite alot of lag. Noroot firewall. I changed it with Afwall+ and the lag is almost completely gone. I just experience some scroll lag when going through messaging or album, but i guess that's normal and will get less if i eventually get the bootloader unlocked and stuff like doomkernel installed. Until then i'm happy with the snappyness!
Btw, rajeev's black apps combined with aneurysm theme and 120fps timeshift also really help to make me love this phone more.

If this lags then what won't ? on me it runs 100x times smoother than any other phone... M8 is close but not that smooth... apple is somewhere but not as near and finally samsung plastic toys arent even top 100 list...
