Hi there everyone..Im a newbie here, and this is my first post, really need help and guidance from all of you guys.
I have a very unique matter, the first problem is I have a S4 rooted, after I rooted the phone it seems work just fine for weeks, after that I decided to use a launcher, after I install Next Launcher 3D or Nova Launcher or Go Launcher the phone just go to bootloop situation, then I restored it via CMW method, after restore the phone back to normal condition, not only the launcher, if I install Beautiful Widgets or HD Widgets my phone go to bootloop situation again.
The second problem is after I rebooted my phone the language just change to default language, I mean every time, I already set it to US English in setting and Superuser Apps, but after the phone rebooted is just change to default language of the region.
Can anybody or anyone can help me with this situation cause its really bugging me, please give me a solution. Thanks before for the help.
Emmmm...try another Rom and see..
This post is perfect reference as to why I will not use a custom launcher.
Buggy crap is all I ever found when using them.
Are you on stock ROM ?

You might go into recovery and wipe the Dalvik cache. If you are using CWM it should be located under the 'advanced' tab.
Probably your device is running on buggy rom...
If you want your device just perfect, flash the stock rom and be the tension-free...

I've always been a fan of the stock launcher since I never cared much to use settings available in custom launchers to tweak settings. However, with the new Nova Prime I really wanted to give gestures a try. After hearing great things about the launcher I decided to purchase the app and start fiddling with it. Overall the launcher is very fast, stable, and the homescreen gestures are awesome.
However, I'm noticing that immediately after unlocking the phone the screen flickers once before opening the homescreen. I've tried disabling Nova launcher to see if the stock launcher did this as well. However, as I suspected, the stock launcher fluidly fades from the lockscreen to the homescreen with no flicker at all.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is there a setting I can adjust to fix this? I'd love to keep using Nova but unfortunately this flicker is annoying me.
Thanks in advance.
No issue's to report with nova launcher that's the only launcher i use:good: don't like stock I uninstall it whenever i flash a new rom. Some guys put nova into there roms. I have the prime version. Do you have your animations on? You could try disabling the animations if that helps..

Thanks for the advice. I just disabled animations and it made the transition a lot faster, which I suppose I can live with. I just wish it was fluid during unlock like the stock launcher is. Aside from that it's perfect.
EDIT: I decided to follow your tactic and uninstalled the stock launcher, then wiped cache, dalvik cache, and fixed permissions. After restarting I'm happy to report that the unlock flicker has completely gone away. This is the case even with animations set back to 1x. I'm guessing the phone was trying to load the stock launcher for a split second before loading Nova Launcher, causing the slight flicker/delay. I'm a happy camper now, thank you!

I get this issue on all launchers, when using stock AOSP 4.3 and CM 10.1
Has anyone deduced what the problem is caused by?

Ha! Forgot all about this thread. For me, every time I install a fresh ROM the first thing I do after initial setup is install Nova Launcher. After doing this I uninstall the stock launcher or the trebuchet launcher (on CM10.1 ROMs) and wipe cache/dalvik and fix permissions. After doing this I never see the initial screen flicker anymore and I've used this method with all sorts of ROMs.
However, now that I'm on the stock 4.3 JWR66V image, without root, I am getting the same screen flicker again. I'm just dealing with it until an updated SuperSU or Super User zip is available which will allow me to root, install root explorer, and uninstall the stock launcher. I'm confident that going with the same procedure I mentioned above will solve the issue once again.
Good luck!

You're kidding, seriously? That's it? That's so sad on Google's part (for such a terrible launcher)
But thanks for the hint, I've been searching far and wide for this answer - ill let you know if it works in 4.3 (I'm rooted). I'm surprised so little users notice this annoying stuff!

I followed your instructions but I still get flickering from time to time on stock rooted 4.3, though maybe less than before... Any other step that I may be missing that you didn't mention?

So I got the LG G2 F320s Korean variant. I used one click root method and everything was going fine. Then I wanted to further remove bloatware by uninstalling system apps and I accidently removed something called "Multitasking" via an app called Root Uninstaller. Everything was still fine but then I noticed that some system apps including, Dialler, Messaging, and Gallery all stopped working it would force close as soon as i try to launch them. I freaked so i downloaded third party replacements but i wanted to fix the problem so i decided i'd do a factory reset thinking it would remove the root and bring everything back to normal.
Boy was i wrong! Because I had most of the stuff either removed or frozen and had mostly 3rd party apps for everything, now I can't even use a keyboard to sign into google, or have a navi bar to get around the phone! no back no home no nothing! The phone is practically useless. I need help please. I wanna reset it back to stock with or without root it doesn't matter but I need all the stock system apps and tweaks back up and running.
Help me please.... someone..... i beg you....... my G2...........:crying::crying::crying:
First Of all.. Don't Panic.
And please EDIT the text to normal. The bigger texts wont solve your problems.
First go to the Development section and check the thread "Installing Stock ROM on the LG G2".

awesome this is just what i need downloading right now hoping it works. Do you know if I could revert to European stock rom instead of the initial Korean one? I have the Korean F320s, it would be cool if i could flash the D820 Stock rom instead.
Hi Guys
Just joined the forums yesterday. I was enjoying tinkering with my S4, I rooted it and had some fun with it, installing cool apps and such like.
I downloaded titanium back up, and proceeded to remove (what I thought was) bloatware..... (yes...schoolboy error, I know) I didn't remove any crucial system files though, I aint that gung-ho. But what I did do, was remove Flip-Fonts (I didn't know that the little "f-f logo in the circle" was flipfonts.
Anyway, this was still ok. I downloaded a font app from the play store, and installed a new font. I deliberately chose a font that was annoying to look at, and barely legible, simply so I could instantly see that the install had worked. So I rebooted my S4, and when it booted up, I noticed immediately that it had worked. Thus I knew the install proocess was working, and then I chose the font I wanted to install. BRILLIANT!!!
Then I noticed the issue. My system fonts were ok, however, when I was surfing the web, it was still using the annoying, barley legible font I initially installed as a tester. Gmail was using it, yahoo, chrome. I tried to uninstall and change the font. I could change it, but again, the fonts in gmsail etc were the annoying one that I didn't want. I could see no way to change this. So I did a factory restore this morning, through the normal channels (setting/accounts/back-up and reset) thinking this would reset.
When I booted the phone back up, when I was guided through the initial phone set up tutorial (time, accounts, device name etc ect) I noticed that the system font was set as the annoying one I don't want. So I downloaded iFont, and changed it. Again, it changed the font to the one I wanted, but again, when I went online it was still that (by this time) INCREDIBLY ANNOYING FONT!!!
So I went in to SuperSU and chose to unroot the device. I then went through the root process I initially used I re-rooted using this method. Again, when I booted up, the initial set-up wizard that guides you through had that IRRITATING, PESKY, SUICIDAL FONT!!!
So my good android friends, I require your assistance. How do I get round this pesky issue? I was thinking I would have to roll back to the factory ROM? Or is there some simple setting I am missing This is really really getting to me now. I have been tikering with the fone, not too in depth may I add, just installnig root apps and such. I was willing to venture in to the custom ROM's avenue sometime soon.....although after this little episode, I may think twice.
I do not have a nandroid back up. I have been advised on another forum to reinstall the factory ROM. However, I know there are different methods for different versions. So below is the info from my device. Whats the best plan of action for me. I still want to root my phone again, I just want shot of this annoying font.

Android Version: 4.2.2
Baseband Version: I9505XXUDMH8

(or something like that. I can hardly read it because of that annoying font)

As the other guy suggested, but instead of using that link, try http://www.samfirmware.com type in GT-I9505 into the device search bar and find United Kingdom (o2).
Flash it using Odin and you should be all good! I'd also recommend you take care when messing about with your phone, especially with system files. I would also recommend you flash a custom recovery such as TWRP and make backups of your device. It's saved me a load of times already!
Just wipe, flash new rom (stock rom or any rom you want). As long as you don't do anything crazy you can always use download mode to flash roms.
I'm not sure what happened, but my Google Keyboard seems to have disappeared. Google Keyboard is not showing as an option under "Keyboard & input methods". I have Flesky and Swiftkey, so I'm getting by, but I don't know how to get it working. Gboard shows under Apps, and I've tried clearing cache, clearing data, force stop, and uninstall/reinstall, but it still doesn't appear as an option to use as a keyboard. How can I rectify this? Thanks in advance to anyone who has a solution.

Google keyboard is replaced by Gboard but I think you already knew that. Also if you are on a custom ROM flash Gapps again. Gboard will appear on input options. If not maybe you have factory reset or wait for the app to be updated again .
PS did you reboot after clearing cache?

Thanks for the reply. I'm not rooted and therefore don't have a custom ROM, just the one that came with the device, so therefore I can't really flash anything. I went into recovery mode and did a cache wipe there, which, of course, requires reboot, to no avail. I'll wait to see if an update comes out soon and will live with 3rd party keyboards in the meantime. For what it's worth, I've included screen shots showing that Gboard is showing as an app but is not showing as an available keyboard. When I click "Current Keyboard", my only options are Flesky and Swiftkey.
The reply is appreciated.

Update: I finally got Gboard back. I tried a number of things, including a manual download and install of the apk. I decided to try Slash keyboard, and, when I installed it, I was taken to the screen to enable it, and, voila', Gboard shows up with an enable option. I don't know what happened, but it's working now.

Actually, in your second screenshot, if you tap on "Current Keyboard" there will be a button to choose keyboard. If you press that, it will bring you to the screen where you can enable/disable keyboards. That's probably why Gboard was hidden.

Yep. Not intuitive to me, but you're correct. I thought "Current Keyboard" was just a prompt to select one from the pop-up window. Often the answers are simple if you know where to look. Thanks! :good:

No worries! They changed the menu structure in Nougat so it's more intuitive now.
Probably off topic but does anyone else not like the update they did to the keyboard? No way to remove that search menu row? I have never used the suggestions and wished I could remove it.

I am sort of in the same boat
Hey everyone.
Lastnight I installed, an android 7.0 custom rom to my tab pro 10.1. I used TWRP to flash install the ROM when it installed it automatically rebooted my device before I could go on to Gapps and install them with the the ROM. So when the ROM loaded up I connected to my hub (using the keyboards) then had a look at the new OS and the wife had a look out of interest with me and everything was working well in fact it was quicker than it was when we got it brand new.
Then playtime over rebooted back into TWRP and flashed Gapps. Then it rebooted again. When it finally loaded back in I was met with a loading screen saying Android is Starting which wouldn't go away but it asked me to sign back on to the Hub so went to do this on problem was.....no Keyboard.....so I managed to get into my setting through quick menu settings and find input settings and there is no keyboard installed to the device...it asked me to add one but I can't because I can't type and even if I could the android is starting message is still going.
Please help I am new to this and I want to learn all this type of thing but I am completely puzzled on what to do. I tried clear chase and data and even tried factory reset.....tried installing gapps on twice (before the factory reset) and nothing was working.
I am tough to use odin to flash it back to standard rom and start again but I could do with some pointers with what i have done wrong.
Thanks people

You may wish to ask over in the Galaxy Tab Pro forums at https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-pro-12-10-8 - you've somehow wandered into the Moto G4 forums
But as a very general suggestion - sounds like your GApps isn't happy with your custom ROM. You may have to clean flash your custom ROM again and verify that the GApps you're flashing is suitable for your device/custom ROM.
I agree with you I have just download the same rom and a stock gapps and I had the same message and again with no keyboard.....agian. Difference this time I haven't rushed to do a factory reset and gone back and reflashed the android 7.0 rom and I am back working again with keyboard but no google apps.
Is there a way of installing them a different way, only 2 google apps I use is play store and gmail. I have tried installing a google play store and play services apk but doesn't work. It goes to load and then just stops.....feels like I need a list of apps to get them going.
Hope someone can help
I worked out my problem with Gapps, "android is starting messages" and no keyboard.
1. I needed to wipe my cache, data and davarlik (whatever it says....looks like darlik to me...lol) before and after.
2. Like fella before said my ROM didn't like the Gapps package I had downloaded, so everytime I had the android message I went back on to TWRP and restored back to the orginal point where the lineage ROM worked, then went back on to the net and installed the next Gapps package and repeated till I found a package that worked......that package was the "Micro" package.
Any google apps I was missing I simply just downloaded them via the playstore after.
I realise this is a moto G forum but I find that sometimes you need to go other places to find answers and I had originally looked in the samsung Tab Pro 10.1 forum section and couldn't find anything similar to my problem this fella at the beginning of the thread was the closest to my problem I could fine.
Hope this helps
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and tried to find the answer before posting this but couldn't find the answer.
The problem is that my phone keeps restarting on custom roms.
It happens on various custom roms i tried cm12.1 and a couple of others. When i first install the custom rom it all seems fine. Even after a couple of restarts it all works okay untill the moment that i install all my apps that i use.
After a number of installed apps the launcher app trebuchet keeps crashing and after that my phone is in an endless boot loop.
Does anyone else know of this problem or have a solution to this weird problem?
Ps. When i revert back to an twrp backup of my old 4.4.2 system all is fine and no bootloops anymore.
I also tried installing nova launcher instead of trebuchet because i tought it was trebuchet related but that didn't work. (I uninstalled trebuchet completely).
Please let me know if you need more info from the phone.
Thanks
Dennis

Did you consider that one of the apps you install is causing the problem?
Try installing apps one by one, and be aware that some apps designed to work in Android KitKat or less may not work on Android 5 or higher.
And some apps have multiple versions for each android version, so it's better to install your apps by downloading them from the play store.
