Just wanted to know if it was safe to freeze the stock messaging app with Titanium Backup. I Was planning on using GO SMS Pro to handle text/MMS.

Ok, I'd like to root my N7 so I can install Greenify. I'm very happy with the stock 4.2.2 though.
In my case, which ROM should I use?

If you're happy with stock 4.2.2 ROM then you should just stick with it. All you have to do is unlock and root. Then you're good to go.

im a on custom rom right now and i have nandriod back up of stock touch wiz. if there is an ota update can i just go back to the back up i made and just do the update
Won't work if you have a custom recovery. You'd have to wait for a modified update than you can flash.

Yes. But I was assuming that's not what the OP wanted.

To get this all straight to update I would have to flash rom version of the update?

Since you are already running a custom rom you can just flash an MDL based rom. However, you will not have the MDL modem/firmware. If you want this either get your phone back to factory stock via Odin or if you can restore a nandroid and stock recovery (whatever it takes to flash the OTA update) then you can get to the MDL stock rom with MDL modem/firmware. From what I have read most have to Odin back to stock but a few have said with stock recovery and no app changes the OTA flashed successfully. Personally I would just use Odin, take the update, root/custom recovery, and be done with it. Your choice.
**EDIT....can now flash the modems separately without having to use the OTA procedure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338919
I am kind of in the same boat. I have stock rom but I rooted it and installed custom recovery. I can't seem to find any of the flashable modded OTA updates. Can some one point me to them?

This morning I got a notification on my note saying there is an update for the Verizon note.
I am rooted and am using all sorts or apps like nova and texted.
Will this update remove or break anything?

What build number are you on. How did u root. Did you use kingo?

Don't take the update, you'll lose root. Open titanium backup and freeze sdm 1.0 to stop the update notifications.

You are correct, I lost root.
I am a noob when it comes to android. I came from the Iphone world. Can I re flash with the De vaga? To get root back?
Frooze it with Titanium Backup Pro
I frooze the SDM part with Titanium backup. I hope this works - this morning I delayed the update to 5pm so I hope when this time rolls around that I won't be bothered with the update. I am running the N900VVRUBMI9 baseband version and really hope that the safestrap method works and that we soon get custom roms that will make this a thing of past.

DO NOT DO THIS. Flashing back to MI9 from the new update will fail in odin and at worst will softbrick you and you'll need to flash the pit file

Restoring back to stock should restore your OTA ability and remove recovery/root.......There is a back to stock link in my signiature......Follow the guide in there for restoring your phone:good:

No not exactly. You also need to reset the flash counter using triangle away app.

cant I jus t revert to stock via keis?
These are basic questions that you should have known before you started to flash your phone.
But no, Kies won't do anything for you in this case. Use Odin.

Yes...and this would have been discovered reading the entire procedure in the Back to Stock link (Note 4)......Just trying to get others to read a little more as xda is all about reading and learning
I just rooted and flashed hyperdrive. I want the verizon apps that came with the phone that were not included in this ROM. Caller ID, Visual VM, etc. Does anyone have or know where to find these?
You can pull them from the stock deodexed rom. Other than that I don't know.
