I installed ICS hacksung build 2 from the walkthrough in this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070
I did not go past the original rom install though the instructions seem to describe i should be wanting to add a different rom after this, though im not sure what the differences are and what the point is. from the guide, i stopped at this point.

So i have 2 questions really, I am trying to install large gameloft games, and after you download them from the store you open it and there is this big 450MB download, so it keeps going to about 100MB and saying it was interrupted and it starts over and never finishes. I tried it on both wifi and 3g, this was not happening before i changed to ICS i was able to DL it fully.
So how can i fix this download problem?
Also, should i stay on this hacksung build 2 or is there a reason i should be flashing another of those listed ICS roms?
build 2 is just a stepping stone to get on a current ICS rom!!! Upgrade to aokp 29 and see if the problem persists...
do you recommend a specific rom? its hard to really tell what the differences are, i just want something stable once i get this all setup i dont want to have to touch roms again until im buying a new phone later this year

thx i will try it when i get home
I agree with Droidstyle. Upgrade to AOKP 29 and see if the problem still persists. I'm running it and it's pretty stable overall.
Build 2 was an alpha build. You should not run old builds of roms. Specially when it's a very very old alpha with lots of broken things

Hey guys, I'm currently running CNA 3.6.6 with the JellyX kernel (5-12 bfs) by Blechd0se. (Great combo, BTW :good
I would like to revert to the official CM7 builds because I admire the stability and battery life offered.
Now to my problem,
I know that I have to flash a froyo kernel in order to install CM7 successfully.
But on this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432100) it is mentioned Latest Froyo kernel by Epsylon3: 16 May 2012
Latest Froyo kernel by Quarx: 8 Mar 2012. I was not able to locate these kernels on the respective servers (quarx2k.ru and defy.wdscript.fr)
Moreover, these links are dead: CM7 (froyo) Kernel http://m.cfa.aero/misc/CM7_Kernel-signed.zip
CM9 (GB) Kernel http://m.cfa.aero/misc/CM9_Kernel-signed.zip
However, I was able to find this one (kernel-froyo-222-179-4-signed.zip) on epsylon3's sever. It is dated June 13 and so I'm assuming it is the latest and should work properly. So will it? I plan on flashing the 9-12 official nightly of CM7. Also I read somewhere that CM7 comes bundled with the kernel, so is flashing the kernel even neccessary? I have also seen a test CM7 kernel by blechd0se, does anyone recommend it for stable daily use and will it be compatible?
I plan to follow these steps in flashing, someone please please correct me if I'm wrong..
CM10 recovery-wipe data-wipe cache-wipe dalvik-install cm7-install gapps-install kernel-wipe cache-wipe dalvik.
Should the kernel be flashed before or after the ROM?
I'm trying my best not to be a n00b here (my first thread here, and you might notice I have just one post and zero thanks ), but I really am confused because on a different thread I read that flashing an SBF via RSD was the only way to do this , and I think this thread will help others who might like to go back to CM7 if they are facing issues with Jelly Bean. I have done my homework reading and am not posting without searching. So Any help will be greatly appreciated , and if I'm being a complete bumbling idiot, please feel free to tell me so. :silly:
Waiting for replies from the awesome folks at XDA,
Cheers and have a great day! :highfive:

PS: Off-topic, has anyone tried the V6 supercharger by zeppelinrox on our Defys (JB/ICS/GB) ? If you have, please share your experience I'm really curious, that's all
Cheers
You're confusing 2ndboot kernels with regular kernel. No kernel flashing is required, because they do not interfere and/or replace each other(2ndboot custom and stock Motorola).
You're better off with the regular kernel(Motorola one), the test one(the one for cm7) is in early development.
You will have to convert data from ext4 to ext3 via boot menu. Select tools, file system tools and convert to ext3.
So, the process is: Convert to ext3, flash Rom(You may wipe system before this for good measure), boot the phone, reboot and flash gapps(you may flash it directly after the rom, but this method works for me)
EDIT: Flashing directly works(just tested) for quite a lot of combinations

i may add that you could either flash a stable cm7 + nightly bcs kernel is missing in the nightlies or you just flash one of maniacs... they come with a kernel and are the most cutting edge (the only cutting edge). good luck.
Again, the kernels above are 2ndboot and do not replace the stock; it's a misconception. So, either way the process remains the same; there is absolutely no need to flash anything else unless mentioned on the rom thread.

Okay..Thanks guys! XDA forums are really helpful And so quick to reply too!
On the ROM thread, they say flash froyo (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654)
I'm not sure what they mean..
Do I need to change the default boot to 2ndinit as well?
And can someone elaborate on what differences can be found between the official CM7 nightlies and maniac's ones?
Cheers and have a great day!
No change, no nothing. I'm not really sure about maniac builds, perhaps they use the newer kernel(custom), whereas official uses stock Motorola

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21686557
Differences:
LTO download. (not sure if merged to official)
panic daemon against RIL bug
cant remember what else.
NO custom kernel yet
but things get merged to official sooner or later because maniac is an/the official maintainer for cm7-jordan.

thanks thekguy. i wasted half a day wondering if my defy had finally bricked and all it is was the ext4 causing the problem. with a quick google found this thread and your solution works perfectly. i only wished that they have sticky your solution as i'm sure many ppl are looking for it...
I do have a big problem. I followed all the steps (coming from latest nightly of CM10) with formatting to ext3 and the other steps. I tried to install CM7.2 and everything went well. But now I stuck at the Motorola Logo.
I even tried the sbf-flash but that didn't work because after RSD-Lite-Flash it stucks at rebooting. Anyone knows how to fix that?
And another problem is, that I cant charge my battery anymore :crying:
Stock recovery-> data wipe

That didnt work. I tried to flash the sbf by Quarx (4.5.2-109-DHT-22-fixed.sbf) and RSD Lite says "Please manually powerup this phone". But the Defy stucks at the Motorola Logo (Blue and Green Light and the softkeys are flashing up).
PS. At least I managed to reinstall CM10 in 2nd-Boot and now can charge my phone
EDIT: Now I did all the steps again and installed CM7.2. But now I stuck not at the Motorola Logo but the Bootanimation is looping... It's strange but I dont get a confirmation that I wiped the Dalvik Cache successfully....
How about full sbf flash
Or try this:
Cm10 bootmenu format to ext3 and flash cm7 zip. Reboot and enter custom recovery and wipe data+ dalvik + cache

CyanAOSPThis is the ported version of [ROM][JB][4.2.2][04/08/13] CyanAOSP v4.0.0 [Stable | For Gaming] All the hard work was done by ts1506, Spam his thanks button! I just ported this amazing ROM to our Cappy! As with any ROM, I am not responsible for any bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
This ROM will come in two versions, one will be based on CM10.1, and the other will be based on Supernexus. Both versions will come with the Devil Kernel. I am by no means a developer and I will only update the ROM when and if ts1506 updates the i9000 thread.
Features!
Fast, stable and intended for gamers
Built from CM10.1 source with GCC 4.6 with O3 optimizations, heavily debloated , almost no 3rd party apps pre-installed
Version with SuperNexus Source is also available.
CyanCore Kernel included.
Additional tweaks ( vary from version to version )
For those people who love ROMs with lots of themes , customizations , apps etc , please leave now , you will be disappointed , this ROM is not for you.
Known Issues
For the SuperNexus version, sometimes the background of pop up dialogs are transparent. (FIX: Reboot your phone)

what?
No issues noticed with this ROM, it's like light version of CM10.1, very good. :good:
I was playing with this ROM for couple of days, running all kind of benchmarks and some games that show FPS. I don't know what "For Gaming" means, but the results I got are the same with CM 10.1.2, with very small variations. Included Devil kernel is very old (from Feb 2013), I was using extracted Devil (from Jul 2013). CyanCore kernel (modified Semaphore) from the same dev makes no difference in benchmark results.

ahhh! my bad! sorrry! and to get best results use cyan core kernel as it's been optimized for it.
e1 i tried to fiddle around some benchmarks and fps but there aint any increase in them.....
let me know if you hv achieved high benchmarks n in which config
I am using the SuperNexus based ROM of CyanAOSP and it gives me number not verified error(then asks to enter my number again instead of verifying it by sending SMS or call verification) on whatsapp. I get that error only with this ROM no matter what ROM I come to this from. Tried flashing the ROM twice, clearing cache dalvik cache, uninstalling, reinstalling whatsapp, deleting data, almost everything. I haven't even installed xposed framework, no modules, nothing. No mod.
I have used this ROM in past and never had any problem.
Anyone know why this is happening?

You'll end up bootlooping if you don't flash paranoid android 4.0 before the kernel.

In the description it says "CM & PA Roms only!" stock is not considered CM or PA.. You have to flash a CM or PA ROM in order for the kernel to work. Like the other user above said, You will end up in a bootloop and you'll never get your phone to boot up with that kernel on stock. Flash either a Cyanogen Mod (CM) or Paranoid Android (PA) ROM first and then you can use that kernel.

Just tried latest Alucard Kernel but there is still issues with bluetooth. Eg. when connected to my car stereo.
Connecting is good but when car radio turned off, smartphone music still playing. Does not stop and also
not disconnect bluetooth. Must do manually.
Now quickly tried the 1.13d which seems to work perfecly. But did not test on long run.
I'm on AOKP and build in Kernel has same issue than the latest alucard.
What version to use.
Which version would i use for liquidsmooth? AOSP or AOSP (cm) , since its heavily based on cyanogenmod
hi. @Alucard i like your kernel but the charged led light arent on when usb is pluged on a reboot or boot i must first cut the usb and plug it again then it works.. i think many cm or slim roms have a led control inside.. ps. on last googymax it works.

SlimKat 8.10 and 1.4oc not happy for me
Flashed 1.4oc with SlimKat 8.10 coming from the SlimKat stock CM kernel. When booting, i get to the Samsung logo, and then it disappears, the phone vibrates 2 twice slowly, and then reboots again.. Stays stuck in the this loop until interrupted.
This is on tmobile s4. Any thoughts?
thanks

Strange. I have exactly the same configuration, come from dirty flashes of Slim. Everything is working.
Did you restore data from other ROM with, for instance, Titanium Backup?

I totally forgot to mention that i multi-boot with the DualBootPatcher. Well, they have some special cases for flashing Alucard onto one of these other boot partitions. However, this patching must have been from earlier versions of KK ROMS and kernels because it patched the init binary which is not compatible with the kernel.
i got it working by doing some manual work with the patcher. To be clear, the problem was NOT anything to do with this kernel.
Thanks for the reply, though.
I still get the note to reset my phone due to an unsuccessful encryption, after flashing the AOSP v2 9/11 kernel to my CM11 M11 rom.
I have already flashed the kernel multiple times.
It works flawless with the 18/10 kernel.
Any tips ?
Hi guys, my external sd card is formatted using ext4, I have no problem reading the sdcard with KT kernel, but since it has been out of date for a long time I tried Alucard, but it did not mount my external sd card. If I flash KT kernel everything works fine, does anybody have an idea of how to make work with alucard?
I am running Dan's M9 at the moment.

You must use AOSP V1 kernel (Obsolete)...
Thanks, That is the one I was trying to use. As far as I understand the new ones v2 would not work since they are based on the new cm sources. Any other idea?
