[ROM][4.2.2] CyanAOSP - Captivate Android Development

CyanAOSPThis is the ported version of [ROM][JB][4.2.2][04/08/13] CyanAOSP v4.0.0 [Stable | For Gaming] All the hard work was done by ts1506, Spam his thanks button! I just ported this amazing ROM to our Cappy! As with any ROM, I am not responsible for any bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
This ROM will come in two versions, one will be based on CM10.1, and the other will be based on Supernexus. Both versions will come with the Devil Kernel. I am by no means a developer and I will only update the ROM when and if ts1506 updates the i9000 thread.
Features!
Fast, stable and intended for gamers
Built from CM10.1 source with GCC 4.6 with O3 optimizations, heavily debloated , almost no 3rd party apps pre-installed
Version with SuperNexus Source is also available.

what?

No issues noticed with this ROM, it's like light version of CM10.1, very good. :good:

I was playing with this ROM for couple of days, running all kind of benchmarks and some games that show FPS. I don't know what "For Gaming" means, but the results I got are the same with CM 10.1.2, with very small variations. Included Devil kernel is very old (from Feb 2013), I was using extracted Devil (from Jul 2013). CyanCore kernel (modified Semaphore) from the same dev makes no difference in benchmark results.

ahhh! my bad! sorrry! and to get best results use cyan core kernel as it's been optimized for it.

e1 i tried to fiddle around some benchmarks and fps but there aint any increase in them.....
let me know if you hv achieved high benchmarks n in which config

I am using the SuperNexus based ROM of CyanAOSP and it gives me number not verified error(then asks to enter my number again instead of verifying it by sending SMS or call verification) on whatsapp. I get that error only with this ROM no matter what ROM I come to this from. Tried flashing the ROM twice, clearing cache dalvik cache, uninstalling, reinstalling whatsapp, deleting data, almost everything. I haven't even installed xposed framework, no modules, nothing. No mod.
I have used this ROM in past and never had any problem.
Anyone know why this is happening?

How do I upgrade to ICS?

I have a TF101 on 3.2.1 custom OS and Kernel 2.6.36.3-g32125f7-dirty ([email protected] #92).
It's been such a long time since I went through the razorclaw setup and flashed this thing, I don't really remember what I did so I'm having to start over on knowledge so I'm hoping some of you experts can help me.
I would like to go to an ICS build, doesn't matter if its official, custom, etc. Obviously, a clean and stable custom is nice due to the lack of bloatware and I would refer to stay rooted going forward, but I don't want to deal with things like shortcut keys not functioning, wireless issues, etc .. so if its a custom rom, something 99% functional is a must. Otherwise, I'd be happy to go to stock ICS. The only reason I upgraded to a custom one in the first place was so I could overclock which I don't do anymore.
Could someone point me to something that would walk me through the following:
- Point me to a highly recommended STABLE ICS build that allows for overclocking?
- Point me to instructions on how to take my already clockworked honeycom tablet to ICS? (Do I just drop some rom on an SDCard, reboot, hold down some key combination, select to upgrade and I'm done?)
- AND .. anything else? I know sometimes you have to update radios & kernels and other stuff, and sometimes instructions get crazy complicated, so I'm hoping there's an easy instruction list somewhere?
Thanks!!
These are the two i have tried that are ICS:
Revolver 4 by Gnufabio | 4.1.1 Stable - IC411 | Jun 23 | FaceUnlock | APM
Android Revolution HD 3.4.2 | High Quality & Performance | ICS | TF101/101G
I am currently using Revolver 4 ROM and im enjoying it very much. I have also installed Guevor v22.6 kernel and im OC'ed to 1.2GHz and getting excellent battery life.
Im assuming you can just load up the ROMs on your SD card and just install them through CWM. Just make sure you do a completely wipe of your system after you do a backup.
You shoudln't have to do much!
1) download the ICS ROM you would like to use. I suggest Team EOS' latest nightly or their stable EOS 2.0 ROM, both in the development section
2) reboot to recovery
3) nandroid backup your current boot, system, and data partitions
4) wipe everything
5) flash ICS ROM
6) reboot
7) enjoy ICS

Most ROMs include a kernel. It may only be a stock kernel or the dev may have used a custom OC kernel. A different kernel can always be flashed through CWM.

Correct! Team EOS comes with its own OC kernel based on the latest source from Asus.

and
[KERNEL][GPL][Linaro][OC 1.6][UV][GPU+][ZRAM][SIO+V(R)] 2012-07-23 motley 1.0.6
are a wonderful combination. I honestly bought this tablet on the strength of teameos development (has kept my OG Xoom purring along like a Ferrari), and motley's kernel (gpuoc version) is a super compliment to the teameos rom. Both are is the early stages, but bug free--daily drivers for certain.
Add the teamwin TWRP recovery and you've got a champion.

So, you flashed
teameos/roms/eos3/nightlies/grouper/EOS-grouper-21120724-10.zip first,
and then flashed
[KERNEL][GPL][Linaro][OC 1.6][UV][GPU+][ZRAM][SIO+V(R)] 2012-07-23 motley 1.0.6
over it?
What did you wipe when doing these?

I run that same setup often, it's pretty solid, and aaronpoweruser (or something like that) has a CM10 kang optimized with Linaro that's a nice build.
You need to be in recovery and wipe data (labeled factory reset), wipe cache, wipe dalvic cache, and wipe system. Then if I were you i'd flash the rom, boot and setup and let it sync and settle a bit then reboot to recovery, make a nandroid backup, and wipe cache and dalvic cache and flash the kernel zip file.
Lots of people just flash the kernel without wiping the caches, it's kinda up to you on that one, it takes approximately 2 seconds Im thinking.
I'm running the cm10 kang from xda and motley. It is amazingly smooth. Like buttered butter

Sounds like you have some reading to do bud. The first post should have the details but it may be in the next couple down. Could be in Rom Manager if you flashed ClockWork Recovery. Search for some rom basics so you understand kernal before flashing. Also, I always try to read at least the first few and last few posts of any new rom to see what people are saying about the rom.
Good luck!

[Q] What's your favorite ROM?

Hi everyone,
Im kinda new to the whole modding scene of the i9000. Ive had my phone for over a year now, only recently have I updated to stock GB 2.3.6 rom and flashed CF-Root and CWM. Now I want to play around with it a bit more haha.
So I just putting the question out there. As I am new Im not to sure on the "popular" ROMs. Ive read a little that JB is unstable for the i9000, Ill be happy with ICS. If everyone can comment on what ROM theyre using, and why its the best.
Thanks in advance

You really should give the official CyanogenMod 10 a try (latest Google Android Jelly Bean v4.1.1)
Please, point me to the writings where it says that it's unstable. That's a kids-talk lye
- charge battery to 100 %
- remove Sim-card and External SD-card
- flash stock JW8 with Odin3 v1.87 (pit-512 and repartition)
- flash CF-Root JW4 v4.4
- shut down phone and enter CWM Recovery using the 3-button combo
- in CWM Recovery do a wipe data factory reset
- in CWM Recovery mount all and format all (yes, best to format internal USB to)
- in CWM Recovery mount internal USB to PC and copy downloaded CM10 + Gapps
- flash CM10 nightly (phone will boot in CWM Recovery)
- do a wipe data factory reset again
- flash CM10 again + latest JB Gapps
- fix permissions in CWM and boot
- have fun!
-Sam-
PS: If you want ICS, download latest CyanogenMod 9 nightly (see CM10 download link above) + latest ICS Gapps and follow the same procedure Play around with both of them and take your pick. You can't go wrong with any custom CM9/CM10 builds either... I'll stick to the official CM10 + Devil3 v1.5.2 kernel :good:
Wow, now thats an answer! Mine's gonna be a lot poorer
I am on cm9.1 with devils 1.4.1 kernel and its amazingly smooth, stable and fast. All you want. I like how simple it is.
Tried AOKP Milestone 6, which has a little more extras (weather in notification panel and lockscreen and so on) and is one of the best ICS Roms. You could also try SlimICS or other roms, but I can't tell you nothing about them cause I didn't try them.
Also there is a certain project called MIUI which could be of your interest: It is very similar to iOS from Apple and also based on ICS or GB.
Or go directly for the new Jelly Bean!
So you see, the world of flashing just opened the doors for you! Enjoy this amazing community as I do and make yourself a new handy!
Never forget to thank the developers for their amazing work they do after a hard workday in real life just to improve our old devices!

Wow! Haha. Ill agree...that was some answer.
Ok so i dont have specific posts that say JB is unstable, I have come to the conclusion that I must of been blindish when i read the threads as I think they may have been from when the thread started, which in some cases is MONTHS ago. In other words when the porting of JB was still in testing.
Thanks for the answer. Im gonna try it out, although I havent yet seen the potential in ICS (yes im a bit behind), why not jump straight to JB.
Atleast with a nand and efs backup, and a jig handy, I can give a few roms/kernels a try.
Thanks to you both and to the developers of the xda community :good:

[Q] Custom Recovery and Kernel's

I'm curious what everyone thinks the best Recovery is for the Razr M and what are the best kernels as far as functionality, battery life, and speed.
I haven't played around with installing custom kernels and ive been using the CWM recovery on my razr m and im currently running the AOKP custom ROM.

I think cwm is better than twrp but I am prejudiced by having wiped my extSD in one of the newest versions. See my signature link for an older BETTER version.
I like TWRP 2.6.0 and I had been having great performance with Carbon ROM 1.8 running the arrrghhh kernel. Currently though I'm having issues running arrrghhh kernel with the Carbon ROM 4.3 nightly (runs smooth with the provided kernel) and yes I did use the CM 10.2 version. I'm sure this will sort it's self after a few more updates.

When installing a custom kernal, do i have to take any special steps such as wipe dalvic etc..? Or simply just flash zip from cwrm?
Making a backup and wiping cache and dalvik are always a good idea.

[ROM, Kernel, Recovery][6.0/5.X/4.4.4][P7300/P7310] Jolie contributions

Hello,
I open this thread to continue the great work of @OmarEinea and kasper with his kernel. I will try to update all possible ROMs with a new kernel improvements and all what we can add to this good setup. Kernel has new cherry picks from Faux, loosethisskin, A1 and others.
New Marshmallow ROMs here
Actually, we are very happy with AOSP ROMs that decatf build for P75xx. They are not perfect and there are a few issues. Known bugs:
Mobile data not working for p5 users
OC upper that 1400 MHz cause reboots and instability.
SELinux is completely disabled in my ROMs (we don't have a working modern TWRP yet)
Maybe other bugs and issues, but in general, p5wifi ROM works fine for a daily use, gaming, etc.
Current Lollipop 5.1.1 ROMs (AOSP, decatf's build) (in beta state)
P7310 = aosp-5.1.1-p5wifi-20150513.zip
P7300 = aosp-5.1.1-p5-20150513.zip
GAPPS = p75xx-gapps-L-5-6-15_selinux_OFF.zip
Flash instructions
Wipe factory reset if you come from another ROM/version.
Flash ROM
Flash GAPPS
Flash SuperSU
In 5.1 kernel works sweet, thanks to decatf's work
New recoveries with F2FS support
(these recoveries can't format to f2fs all partitions, the only difference is in kernel, that has support to mount f2fs partitions)

Great, thanks for keeping our tab alive!
Just a question, is this rom as buttery smooth as stock Samsung 4.0.4? In the past I've tried many different roms with JB and above but none of them reached the silkness of touchwized ics rom, so I had to revert back to ics...

This ROM is smooth. If you're into gaming and this sort of thing then I suggest you stick to stock ICS for that but for all other tasks this ROM performs well. I played a downloaded HD video and it played smoothly...no hiccups/stutters as are found in previous releases. HD video from the YouTube site also plays smoothly. I don't use the app so I wouldn't know how it works with it but I'm guessing they should play OK. The best thing to do is to try it out and see if it works for you. Take a nandroid backup before you do so reverting will be easier if you don't like this ROM.

You're welcome. I think @L3R0N is right, this ROM probably isn't the most smooth for our tab, but I played to some games, surfed the internet and seems very good to me. You know, all software is evolving very quickly, so you never will feel the same smoothness as before. But we will try to improve as much as we can.
All suggestions are welcome.

And even Stock ICS wasn't buttery smooth. By games I meant the likes of NOVA 3, Asphalt 8 and Dead Trigger 2. I played some games as well and they were OK. Even tried beach buggy blitz and it ran surprisingly well with an occasional frame skip at times. For a smoother experience I set all animations to 0.25 and I use nova launcher prime with animations set to stock and sometimes I change it to faster than light. Processor is over clocked of course with hw overlays disabled and force GPU rendering on. Along with the tweaks included in this ROM performance is pretty smooth to me.
Playing with LiquidSmooth by @deadman96385.
It boots with f2fs and my latest kernel
I was asking because I've tried every combination with JB roms and above, but none reached the smoothness of stock ics. I don't usually play games beside some casual easy game. I meant smoothness in transitions, animations and scrolling. Tried Nova and every possible setting but no way.
I'm so eager to have a rom >4.0 but stutters and lags pushed me to stay with ics.
Not a complain at all, just asking because I'd like to move on a newer os, but if it's not yet there I'd save me all the format and restore of everything (not to say that to go back to ics is not as easy as flashing a newer rom because new folder layout).
Thanks.

Now that is awesome news. One suggestion though, I think you should use the Pico Modular Gapps package instead since it has less apps that people like me won't bother to use(Google Photos, Google Experience Launcher, Hangouts etc...). These can easily be downloaded later if the user has need for them.
But hopes up for the Liquid smooth ROM. I will port Omni and see how it plays out with your kernel(non f2fs).

Ok, thanks. Tried Omnirom long time ago...
Will convert pico gapps for this release. Liquidsmooth is "smooth" I only see some force closes on performance app (I don't need it) and in other settings like recents... But it's a great ROM. Will flash gapps now...

Oh...then I'm not going to waste time on it then. Noticed that AAccount said he won't be able to keep updated as much anymore. So I'm not going to waste time on a ROM that may not be updated further.

Ok. First post is updated with the new Liquidsmooth ROM. Seems promising...
I also have updated all URLs in first post with a new folder tree in my server. It's more organized now

That's great!! Will wait for a 3g version so I can test. Great to see this ole girl is still getting some ROM love. The previous f2fs gapps worked with both ext4 and f2fs ROMs. Tried, tested and proven to work.

True, never had problems with stock ICS. All other roms I've tried pale in comparison to the smoothness and performance of the stock. That's why this is worth trying out since feedback is good.

@jolinnard Are the roms based on nightlies or stable release?

Nameless comes from homemade versions (thread and link).
Liquidsmooth is the first alpha release for P75xx (check the first post).
I followed the instructions for installing the liquid smooth rom. Rom first - boot - then gapps. First impressions seem very good. I couldnt get superuser to work. I installed supersu zip and app and that appears to be working OK. I havent had any FC's yet. I have gone through the liquidsmooth performance settings OK. Just installed all my apps so will run for a while and see how it goes.
The link for twrp with f2fs support for the p5 doesn't work anymore. Clicking it results in this message:
The requested URL /android/galaxy-tab/twrp2710_p5_f2fs.zip was not found on this server.
Not that I need it again because I already have it but I'm sure there are others out there who do.

Yep. SuperSU works fine for me too.
Do you know more hacks or improvements that we can try to do? I tried to port FIOPS scheduler, but it's almost impossible for me (I'm not a C expert)...
Tab was stuck in bootloop so I reverted to Stock ICS and now the nameless rom won't flash via twrp. I'm lost as to why this is since it worked well before. Attached is the recovery log I pulled after the failed installation.
